Hins in Stoke-on-Trent

Lovely food and good customer service. I thought first time just give it a go, and definitely gonna come back. It's becoming my favorite Chinese now!

Over priced food staff need a lesson in being polite !!

First and last order from me. Poor quality, overpriced food.

Worst Chinese I’ve ever had. Really disappointing. I ignored all the bad reviews as my Nephew enjoys the food from here, so thought I’d give it a try. £6.50 for Salt & Pepper Beancurd + £7.50 for half chips/half boiled rice and sauce = daylight robbery! Really low quality food, very salty and I’m sure there were sugar granules on the beancurd. So strange, I couldn’t eat it. £14 straight in the bin. Will stick to my usual lovely Chinese takeaway in Fenton. That’s the last time I listen to my Nephew!

One of the worst Chinese I've had, chips were cold, dry and stale, chowmein had no flavour and barley any sauce in it and the egg fried rice had 1 piece of egg in it and was not fried. Never coming again

Absolutely terrible. Food was disgusting to say the least. We live two minutes away and the food arrived cold and evidently not cooked fresh. We rang to ask why the seaweed was brown, why the chips were stale and why the crispy chilli beef had a sour smell and the answer was ‘that’s how it’s meant to be. I don’t know what to say to you’. Not even an apology. It’s a shame that this place used to be brilliant, and now 3 stars appears too generous.

First time of ordering from Hins and will definitely use again. Ordered 4 mains and a couple of sides....we all enjoyed our meals, good size portions and excellent value.

Food was bland egg fried rice contained no egg so was boiled rice that tasted like it had bin sat for hours dry and clumpy beef tasted like it had been slow cooked all day

Food very acceptable, rice and mushrooms lovely, curry a bit bland but ok, could do with onions and peas in maybe.

They use VERY cheap vermicelli style noodles for chow mein which means it's not chow mein! Their spare ribs are rubbish and so is their fried rice and font bother ordering their kung po chicken it's a serious let down. It's obvious they use the cheapest ingredients they can buy and it shows in the quality of the food that's served.

We ordered the chicken curry and cashew chicken the chicken was vile it was like gelatine I wouldn’t feed it to my dog

Always use hins but last nights meal was cold we live five mins away so it had nothing to do with us the previous time they left 3 items out rang them they delivered one and forgot the other two rang them told them sent the other stuff out which was still wrong got there in the end but they write it down need to pay more attention but overall the food is usually fine

I always use the takeaway delivery service and on most occasions there hasn't been a problem, however on a couple of occasions, there has been items missing. This is usually if we order two of the same item, such as two portions of prawn crackers - only one turns up etc. The food on the whole is okay-ish. To be fair, the starters such a the chili ribs are excellent every time. The main meals I'm afraid to say tend be somewhat bland and not that enjoyable. I've had far worse, but I've also had much better. I tried the plum duck once and it was way too fruited - all I could taste was plum to the point where I gave up and threw it away. Value - as with the majority of Chinese takeaways, they're pretty steep to be honest, especially when you end up tossing some of it. The portions are a good size though, but I digress. Parking - plenty, but it is shared with a chippy and the local Aldi - so it can be a problem at times.

We put a telephone order in at this Chinese takeaway for in the region of 15 dishes some of which were vegetarian. The bill was over £90. When the order was delivered one box was found to be missing as were two of the three bags of prawn crackers that we ordered and paid for. The worst part was that apart from the rice, none of the plastic boxes were marked to say what they contained. It would be so simple to label each box with their order number i.e. 67 contained sweet and sour king prawn which corresponds to the menu. We were left having to open all of the boxes and trying to guess what each one contained. It’s not a problem when you order a couple of dishes but for a large gathering of over a dozen people two of whom are vegetarian then it is a big problem As for the missing dishes, they arrived about 15 minutes after we called back to tell them. That’s ok because we are about a five minute drive away, but only one of the missing bags of prawn crackers arrived, so we are still one short. Having said that the food when we had sorted it was good, but the whole experience was stressing which we just didn’t need. Another issue was that they didn’t take card payment for telephone orders which in this day and age is unbelievable. It left us having to scramble to the nearest cash machine. I have to say it will be a long time until we may decide to use Hin’s again.

My chowmein had celery in. Nonce behaviour. Shut them down!!!! apart from that salt and pepper chips were good

Had a takeaway for tea and it wasn’t great to be fair. Wife had beef chow mein and it was very watery and not very tasty. My son had sweet and sour pork which he said was just okay. I had salt n chilli ribs which were about as overdone and chewy as the soles on my shoes, I had chicken balls which were like pieces of leather wrapped in concrete as they were so over cooked. £51 spent and wasted.

Absolutely amazing!! Best Chinese we’ve ever had. As boaters he delivered to the pub very promptly & efficiently food was still hot when we got aboard everything cooked to perfection & tasted amazing top class & will definitely have again when next here

I have been a customer for the last 7 years and order around every 6 weeks or so and the food has been excellent throughout this time. Last Friday I called to order a delivery and for the first time in years they asked for my address, which usually appears on their phone system but because it wasn’t the voice of the lady that usually answers I thought that was the reason. On completing my order, which I calculated as £21.60 the total was £26.60, apparently their prices have gone up. When the food arrived it was dry & over cooked possible even cooked the night before and 90% went into the trash. I phoned and I was told they had had several calls that evening as they had problems in the kitchen. I was very unhappy but thought well OK just one of those things. On the weekend I spoke to a friend and mention my upset with Hins and he had exactly the same scenario the week before, almost word for word from the above. I can only assume Hins has changed hands. It’s possible they have teething problems, but as I a told them on the phone it will be a very, very long time before I order from the again.

Great chinese I go there every two weeks for a takeaway food is always 100% been coming here for years 😋

We had Special Chow Mein at £6.50p it had 3 small pieces of Beef 2 small pieces of Pork 2 small pieces of chicken and 1 prawn quite tasty but little meat Foo young with mushrooms was nice.

First time using and will definitely be the last, BLAND is an understatement I had chicken curry, my partner had beef with ginger and onion. The chicken was still clucking it was that raw! My partner said if it wasn’t for the ginger there would of been literally no taste! The egg fried rice tasted like it had been cooked in pva glue sticky and again tasteless! total waste of £20.00

Highly recommend Hins . Service and delivery excellent and the food is amazing . My husband and myself had the set meal for 2 and portions were very large and very tasty . Definitely be back for more .

Fantastic food and quickly prepared.

Well, never been a fan... Thought I'd give them another go... Noodles are like "cats whiskers" (9 year old boy review) Delivery description is a bit misleading... I live 1.1 miles away but still have to pay the 3 mile radius amount... I could do better myself for less than a tenner.... Small pieces of meat with super noodles is the best way to describe it... And more expensive than the better Chinese take aways... Don't waste your money

had four seasons dish tonight and there was no pork or chicken in it and the sauce was very bland , perhaps this was a mistake when filling up the containers, that aside I have found that the sauces have been bland of late and wondering if there has been a change in ownership lately.

A little bit average to be honest, and expensive for what it is. Food was bland, many of the meats were fatty and evidently a very cheap cut. Can't complain reference portions, however just an average meal over all I am afraid. Won't be ordering again.

Very disappointed. The food was bland and boring. No chilli, ginger flavour, or spring onions It arrived on time. The plastic boxes the food came in will be useful.

Can’t fault the service and the good we always use this one

Really disappointed again, we have had some good home deliveries but our last was over 1 hour late from estimated delivery time so food was cold after 5 phone calls was offered a discount so we thought we would give another go!!!! Sorry won't use again as again food over 1/2 late again from estimated delivery time ( that was an hour & fifteen minutes) so again the food was cold. So upset. Would much prefer to be told you can't do it .....or too busy but not have poor food.

A great little Chinese takeaway with some amazing food an Great value too.

Omg just really thoroughly enjoyed that food, it's expensive but worth it, chicken fu yung, egg fried rice, chicken chow mein and chips with curry sauce poured over!!!! Just amazing!! (enough to feed 4 people or lunch tomorrow aswell😉) no free prawn crackers though 🙄

The worst sweet and sour possible

I’m a trucker park nearby like another comment was made a bit expensive . When I asked could I have a spare container this is yes there is a 30p charge and then they gave me the container with no lid, if you try to pay by card it’s a £10 minimum charge I forgot to ask if you didn’t pay £10 is there a fee which is now illegal times like this and people are still trying to dominate and take control of people . I had chicken curry with rice but I had to pay separate for the rice I’ve never heard of this before and the chicken I don’t know it wasn’t freshly cooked it was layers of chicken and not chunks will not see my customer again .

Really nice food but a little pricey. And considering this is a time of preferred card over cash payments there is a minimum £10 to use your card. Not a cheap option for a single person considering so many truckers park nearby.

Best shop ever hot food great delivery time and bang on perfect you should go any one best thing they serve is chips

We have had the food delivered and collected the food before. The delivery has always been prompt and the food is usually delicious. Would recommend as it is good takeaway food.

Fresh and tasty always arrive's piping hot. friendly staff. Not had a bad one yet chow main's are lovley. Side dishe's too. Yum.

The very best Chinese takeaway I have used. Excellent quality food. Superb taste and piping hot. Better than many restaurants. Drive from Stone to pick food up from here because it's worth it.

Always had a good meal from here. Can take 45 mins to cook though as often busy.

The main courses that we have had so far have generally been tasty (crispy chili beef in particular, (though it has never been crispy)) and they have some of the best crisp seaweed I have sampled from A Chinese take away. Unfortunately, the side dishes can be hit and miss, with the chips being overcooked and basically too hard to eat on several occasions and the Singapore rice being very oily on my last order.

Love this place. My favourite Chinese. Situated at Trentham Lakes and therefore has ample car parking by it. Extensive menu and everything we've had has been top class. Love the crispy beef personally. Hins is that good it can take up to half hour plus for food. Ideally phone and order then pick up around the time told. Up to last visit you needed cash to pay although this could have changed. If you love Chinese give this place a go. Can honestly say it's number one on my list. Staff friendly and helpful.

Nice food quick service and friendly staff. Will say prices are a little steep for the flavour... I found a few of the dishes I've had in the past do seem a little blander than other Chinese is use in the area.

Although this is our go to Chinese, it’s always disappointing that they don’t accept card. I’m not one for carrying cash around so I have to go and find a cash point first. That being said I was introduced to Hins by my girlfriend and I really like the food. The menu is varied and if something isn’t on the menu they will make it for you too. Staff are friendly. It’s nice and modern and clean. We will come back again soon.

Excellent! The only takeaway that delivers to where I live.

I love this place, they do lunch specials on Friday so get a Chinese for work lunch. Beef satay is the tastiest I've had. Never had anything bad so far. Just had a selection and chicken satay on skewers were another good recommendation.

Most of our order was tasteless but the crispy beef was nice, spring rolls probably frozen, not great food overall and pricey for what you get. Wouldn't go here again.

I am disgusted with the attitude and the lack of honesty of the staff. I waited two hours for my food to arrive last weekend and it’s arriving late again this week. Don’t think I will be ordering from this place and I strongly advise everyone else not to aswell.

By far the worse chinese I have ever orded from after waiting 2 hours it came freezing cold ❄ not just that the delivery driver was basically begging for the coin change cough 1.40 (avoid here)

We have been using Hins Chinese every Saturday night for about a year now, the food is exceptional but they seem to offer free prawn crackers to some customers and not to others. I feel that this is discrimination and makes me question my loyalty to your business.

Been going here for couple of months with no problems then out of the blue they just tuned round and said rhey could no longer deliver to me with no explanation very un proffessional .I would never go back there if they offeted me a free banquet

Probably the best Chinese takeaway in Stoke. Freshly cooked, steaming hot. If you ask they will take things out of your dish if you don't like them. Always friendly and welcoming no matter how busy. You can phone your order in advance and they will also deliver. First class takeaway.

This has got to be the worst Chinese food I've ever tried. It was so dry and tasteless. All the noodles were stuck together and the rice seemed like it hadn't been cooked properly. First and last time I'll be eating from here.

Average chinese. No complaints other than it doesn't take card

Hands down the best quality and most consistent Chinese takeaway in the area. We go every week and havnt had a bad meal in about 2 years. I highly recommend the kung po main (sweet and spicy) and the salt and pepper chicken starter. The chicken satay is fantastic too both as a main and a starter, and for veggies you must get the mushroom foo yung (omelette) with either a side of curry sauce or a veggie chow mein. Don't bother trying anywhere else, they pale in comparison to this place!

Our family order a takeaway from here every Saturday spending £60. The food is always delicious and has great variety. Take away always delivered hot even though we live 7 miles away! Can't fault the place.

Ordered meal 6.10 advised would be 1 hour 20 min, happy with that .... BUT Didn't arrive until 8.50 we use most weeks very disappointed with service 👎

Have had a few hit and miss takeaways from local Chinese but Hins is usually very consistent. Good menu choice. Staff are always friendly. Free delivery locally.

Ordered take away at 6.35 pm still waiting 7.55 pm canceled order and put a pizza in oven as my kids were too hungry wait any longer!! .... Won't be ordering from here again!!

We have been having takeaways from Hins regularly since shortly after they opened, and to be honest, we wouldn't consider using anywhere else locally. The food is excellent - my usual test of a good Chinese is the crispy chilli beef, which melts in the mouth (unlike some where it is chewy). We tend to order quite late in the evening, and are normally quoted around 40 minutes for delivery, but usually it arrives within about 15.

Always very fresh and well prepared food. Always hot and service is always pleasant. Highly recommended.

Hins offers really lovely food but the downside is that a lot people agree and Hins get so busy that you often have a 2 hour wait for a home delivery. Collection is a lot quicker.

I think it's only fair to give Hins a proper recent review. We have been having take outs from these guys for the last 2 years and to be fair the food was ok. I don't know what's happened over the last 3 months but the food has got even better. A noticeable difference in taste and quality. It's now always busy when you collect which speaks volumes about the food.

We have just moved into the area and tried out the local Chinese. I noticed the food hygiene rating was a 3, which I don't like eating at anything less than a 4 normally.

The best Chinese in the whole of Stoke on trent by far. Very fresh tasting. They are also very polite and keep up with the time said on delivery... I'm just about to make an order now, yummy yum yum...

Terrible! After 25 minute wait,which the Staff thought was acceptable (and refused to give me my money back) the food was bland ,under seasoned and completely forgettable! They should have a motto displayed in the shop "Life is too short for Hins" I will certainly NEVER be going back
