What a lovely friend fish &chip shop, the team are fantastic. I had pudding chips and gravy with lots of salt and vinegar……. We also got a cheeky bag of scraps which made a my day Really recommend this F&C shop definitely be back next time we are in Middleton

I have used this place for years as a local lad however the quality has gone down Hill! I think this chippy has changed hands recently chips are always dry hard and stale honestly they are no longer the nice traditional chippy chips you used to get maybe it's the oil they use but they are not good! Today I watched them come out the fryer and straight into papers fresh .... my kids didn't even eat them... Girls that work there always polite and service is quick just a let down on quality ....this placed used to be best in Mid!

Absolutely the best chippy in Greater Manchester, there is no doubt in my mind about that! We order from Hills on a somewhat regular basis and have done for the past 6yrs, and during that time we have never had an order that wasn't cooked to perfection - chips, fish, sausage, rag pudding - it doesn't matter what it is, it's always incredibly tasty!

Great food and friendly staff...burp! Stuffed now, couldn't eat another thing! 😍 Normally get food delivered but found out how much is added on so decided to go and do a pick up...good banter and chat while waiting and didn't have to wait too long 😀

Made an order through Uber Eats. Got a message to say it had been delivered when it hadn’t Called Hills and spoke to a nice lady .. could hear her tell another lady who works there..,could hear the other lady say ‘what do you want me to do about it’ not very good customer service So basically we got conned by Uber eats and hills can’t help you Won’t be using Uber eats again or Hills chippy. £23 down !!

Was driving past and spotted this place so called in. Had pudding, chips and gravy and it was utterly incredible. We don't get puddings at chip shops in the Midlands so this was a real taste of home and so delicious, very reasonably priced too!

Phoned in to confirm if one tub of curry sauce is enough for two people (i was placing order on uber eats) and they included an extra little tub. that large tub was enough anyways but this gesture was much appreciated 👍

It’s become a tradition that every Friday night I get my chippy tea from hills and every single time the food is spot on with a really down to earth bunch of workers that they have working there it’s become my regular food spot and I’ll never get bored of it as it’s one of the best traditional fish and chip shops I’ve ever had, it’s a massive thumbs up from me

Been in today for the first time. Food was quite nice, enjoyed it but I was absolutely disgusted in the way a member of staff spoke to the Uber delivery driver….that was collecting food for one of their customers. This young lady spoke to him absolutely disgusting and continued to rant about him to her colleagues after he’d stepped out. Colleagues laughed apart from one that looked quite embarrassed! Whether this Uber driver was in the wrong or not nobody should be shouted at in that manner, from what I could gather he was waiting for an order and was shouted at to wait outside, because he only had a jumper on and it was raining he probably ‘lingered around longer than he should to stay dry’. The driver took it and never said anything back which was disappointing, I wish he’d have told her where to go!!! Like I said, food was ok but I won’t be returning, don’t want to go into a shop where the staff try to intimidate, embarrass and bully people!!

Heard great things about this place. Drove from out of town to take a risk as can't find products or prices online. Got there to find it closed despite opening times saying it was open and nothing on facebook page to say they would be closed. Blind down, shutters down, lights off. Tried ringing in case of slight delay but wouldnt connect. What a waste of time, won't be trying here again. Was a risk not worth taking

Ordered through Uber Eats. Rip off. I ordered two chips and gravy (£3.80 each) these were small portions and sausage was hard (£2.80). It's gone down hill and expensive. Won't order again!

Supposedly a large fish (Vimto for scale)! And a week old dry sausage 😆 Won't be going back here again, the portion sizes are ridiculously small which isn't reflected in the price!

Ordered fish and chips twice The fish was delicious but the chips were hard and dry like they had been sat for hours and re heated they were inedible might as well have just ordered 2 fish very disappointed as this used to be a lovely chip shop

Really disappointed with this chippy. Always a big queue when we drive past and heard good things. The card machine still isn’t working, which isnt on any social media/online to check before driving from out of the area to the chippy. Not only do most of the staff have the most miserable faces, they also didn’t put the full order in the bag which we realised half way home. The chips were awful, dry and old like they’d been sat there hours. Would definitely not visit again, what a shame

Just been in got 2 pies which where bearly warm the home made cheese n onion pie was loot warm had to re cook all 3 pies in the oven at home and for the price and the time of day everything should be pipping hot very disappointed won't be goin back used to be my favourite chippy

Had high expectations after seeing this chippy full almost every time I go past. Disappointed with very greasy fish and soft, undercooked chips. Prices higher than any other chippy I've tried in Middleton.

My friend took me down after work to this little chippy said it’s the best and at first I was like every one says that then first the staff were amazing friendly and welcoming. Then I got the food fish,chips & curry was amazing food amazing staff are amazing and would recommend it to everyone these places are hard to find as you can’t find food and service from a chippy anyware like that 5 stars ⭐️ all the way 🤙🏻

Just tried this chippy for 1st time after driving past and seeing the Qs So wanted to try Staff are polite and hard working and chips where nice but our fish didn't taste right very soggy probably could of done with a extra few minutes. Won't put me off want to try the cheese pie

The food is spot on very fresh and the service is rapid . One big issue, it is grossly overpriced. Will never go back out of principal.

Misled by an alleged buy one get one free offer on ubereats , £17 for 2 pie dinners, could have eaten out cheaper. Husband left most of his as curry only covered chips in top of tray , the rest were dry and stodgy.

Can any one explain to me how HILLS are getting away with Charging EAIGHT POUND for ONE Portion of Fish ,Chips, Peas,& Gravy? 8 quid!!!! Add to the fact i don't need a Large Tub of Gravy & Peas but its all they offer? This means they're charging FIVE POUND for ONE FISH ? Ok so i'm well aware of inflation & every day stuff has increased but come on 8 QUID ? Iv'e Reported them to The Trafing Standards Agency . Gorgeous fish and chips freshly made

Picked up a couple of deliveries from here. Really friendly staff but the downside is that the drivers have to stand out side when waiting for the orders to be completed evan when the weather is really bad but it is understandable bcz there is less space inside It will be nice if the owners put on a retractable canopy out side for your drivers to keep them dry and happy. it is a little investment for the owner but it will go a long way

Was a few months ago now, but I paid nearly 6 quid for this. Like a junior portion and the chips were as they look, horrible. God knows why this place is so popular, Modcod on Taylor Street is probably the best in Middleton & Old mother Hubbard's the best in North Manchester area. Food quality is low and the portion sizes at Hills arent the best for what you pay I've always found. Always been like this ever since he took over from B Robbins in the early 00s

Wasn't the best food from today's visit but normally it is very good,we can all have our off day's but i can't mark it down because of one meal.

I had fish and chips, it was nice but the fish was a little bit skiny and not enough batter for me.

The fish is the best - soft white fish with a crunchy batter. Chips are always amazing. Everything is done fresh to order. I've never had a meal that wasn't 10 out of 10. would recommend this as the best chippy ever.

Top quality chippy, perhaps the best in Middleton, although there are a few good ones in the area. Not been for a year or so as have moved from the area so went back to see and is still a top notch chippy. Even still had the fish special I always opted for...a small fish with chips and gravy. Happy, well mannered staff in a very clean environment. Would highly recommend.

A very nice local chipshop, they always provide a great sevice, it is exceptionaly clean and covid safe, i would recommend this place to everyone.

First time today, only off the back of a recommendation from my partners grandfather who is "particular about his fish" We phoned ahead and set off on the 8 mile round trip to collect. I can confirm it was outstanding, really nice haddock and chips, a lovely English curry and a couple of flapjacks the Mrs picked up inside the chippy. 10/10 we will be back. Well worth the journey.

Me and my partner have visited Hill’s.they are our favourite chip shop. BEST EVER FISH & CHIP’S 👍🏼🐟🍟 It’s not that far but we travel from Heywood too middleton but it’s worth it.I moved from Whitby north yorkshire,so I’m very fussy with my chippy’s but without a doubt it’s the BEST.Also when the children were off in half term,you did the FREE MEAL’S for people struggling,we had chips,sausage pea’s/curry/gravy etc X5 (you did also ask of myself or my parnter wanted anything but we felt a cheeky as you’d already given so much.I’m not working due too lockdown,my parnter has a blood disease and we have five children too feed.So thank you for your generosity you don’t know how much it ment too us. Such an amazing place Thank You ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Having moved from across the border 3 years ago yorkshire lol. Chippys vary with the food they have and weather it's a chip butty or chip muffin fish cake in batter or breadcrumbs. Also trying to find the right chippy to suit your needs. Well I certainly found the right chippy in Hills. TASTE......From the chips to the fish there has to be a certain taste well I can say all of it ticks the boxes chips taste lovely the fish is beautifully cooked soft and fresh. VARIETY....The menu has enough variety on it and it's always best to keep it simple Hills do this and I've tried all the menu from the hill billy burger to the homemade cheese and onion pie all excellent. SERVICE....As a small business Hills provide a service to the local community that being either collection or delivery with uber. They have had to move with the times and adapt to the current situation which they have done superbly. They also got involved with the free school meals for kids providing help for families who are in bad times.Well done. FRIENDLINESS..All staff I have dealt with are polite chatty and more than helpful. Thank you for providing great food and a great service to the community please keep up the great work and pass on my thanks to all the hard working staff. From a converted yorkshireman to a lancastrian.

Chips undercooked and hard. Asked them to keep curry separate and they still poured it all over the fish which was soggy and unpleasant to eat. Someone left an arsey comment on the receipt about me asking for it separate. Horrendous attitude when I called to let them know. Always loved the food here and never had an issue however won’t be ordering again. 0/5
