Poor !!! Sloppy oatcakes - barely any cheese on them, watery red sauce. No quality bacon or sausage used and both telephone and delivery staff were unpleasant. Bad experience with them overall and will no re-use nor recommend!!!

Only oatcake shop I could find open on a Monday

Always travel from swindon just to pick up some oatcakes as they are so nice, but unfortunately I ordered 5 dz online this time and they were awful. Don't think I would order online again.

Gone cashless.BEWARE!!. Really bad idea, I only had cash and they were quite obnoxious over it. Thankfully a gentleman of great character offered to pay with his card if I gave him the cash. That is the people of burslem, descent and willing to help. I will never go to that oatcake shop again.

5 people working, only customer in the shop 20 mins for 2 oatcakes that were sloppy and bland, that aside totally CASHLESS now can't see me going again

Bacon rock hard horrible no flavour cheese has the consistency of undercooked soggy doe Ordered bacon cheese tomato. Only comes with salad tomato and not tinned just the worst in stoke by far oh and cheap sauce

Oatcakes are good, service is very slow, with a very can't be bothered attitude. The cashless policy is terrible.

High Lane oatcakes are definitely a true Staffordshire oatcake. Nor as puddingy as Poveys. Just as l remember them as a kid over 60 years ago.

One of the best in the Potteries. A full 5 stars would be given if they had not embraced the ridiculous and childish 'card/contactless payment only' policy.

The staff were extremely pleasant. My problem here lays entirely on the oatcakes themselves. The oatcakes were sloppy. You couldn't hold them together. The cheese was of the cheapest quality and the ketchup was watery. It was like ketchup you would find at a fairground. I would not go there again.

My kids won't eat any other oatcakes but these and we have pretty much tried from everywhere

Since poveys have been taken over this place had taken a nosedive. Had a sausage and cheese filling and the sausage was cut up into pieces instead of a whole one and it was spread out so effectively not getting a whole sausage it really looked a poor show not enough to fill a child never mind an adult never anywhere have I been served a sausage cut up into pieces. The oatcakes have also become smaller and they don't sell sandwiches like the original owners did. Won't be going again bad news since poveys took over.

Hubby went in and came out with 4 dozen delish looking oatcakes plus stacks of pikelets. All freshly cooked and great to stock up on in our southern freezer!

I have gone to High Lane oatcakes for as long as I can remember. Always tasty food, always service with a smile... Today I stood and waited to be served with no acknowledgement for five minutes... one person cooking, one person baking, fair enough. Two people looking and chatting in the back, one person ducked under the counter on the phone. Nobody even said be there in a min or any other kind of reassurance that I will be served. So I left. It's been sliding since Poveys took over on order time and online orders take the priority now, but today was terrible. This place has lost its heart, and that is sad.

Oatcakes are fine but the fillings are made of rubber. Ordered two bacon and egg oatcakes and only got 1. Seems like it’s going downhill since being taken over.

Stoke is always the best place for oatcakes. Very friendly staff and locals and very good quality oatcakes.

The wife fetched half a dozen last week soon as I took them out of the bag the smell wasn’t right! And that was because they were burnt on one side tasted awful, went straight in the bin won’t be going there again

I have maintained that this shop has not changed since the take over. However I have to say I now think it has. The oatcakes don't seem to last as they once did, plus they just don't seem as fresh. I think I may, after over 40 years have to try another shop.

Oatcakes Is A Staffordshire Delicacy, Staffordshire Oatcakes Are Only Sold In Staffordshire. Oatcakes Are Delicious With Bacon, cheese, Onions, Tomatoes, Beans, Butter And Brown Sauce, I Really Wouldn't Want To Put Any Of Those Ingredients On A Pancake.

Disappointed today ordered 2 double bacon oatcakes black pepper ×2 this is what I got no black pepper 2 very thin slices of bacon on 2 oatcakes normally get it right but today nope at first didn't think I had any bacon on the oatcakes bacon is that thin vey disapointed

Still as good as ever , by far 100% better than derby oatcakes, the picklets and sausages and cheese is the best around , and prepared cheese and sausage double oatcake is tasty. Keep it up :)

After posting photos and writing about my disappointment with the shrinking size of High Lane oatcakes, I have deleted that review after my last visit there a couple of weeks ago. I found, to my great relief, that my oatcakes were back to normal size and not as "wet" as the previous batch. The staff were lovely and the oatcakes were much improved. Thank you very much for once again giving me the quality of oatcakes that I have come to expect from High Lane over the years 😁

Still the best oatcake shop in Stoke on Trent and by a country mile in my opinion. If Stoke on Trent was a person high lane oatcakes would be it's heart. 2 bacon cheese doubles tar duck with brown sauce ahh.

The only oatcakes shop you need to ask for cheese, I asked for a double bacon oatcake and got the double bacon without cheese 🤷🏽 or was nice tho

The service was truly awful, the worst that I have experienced any where in a long time. It was obvious the woman had either had enough or didn't like her job, but her whole attitude was just awful to say the least, first, last and only time that I'll be visiting.

Having moved from Stoke to Manchester, getting oatcakes from High Lane used to be a real treat when I came to visit family. Now with the brilliant delivery service they offer I have a constant supply all year round🥳. Still the same quality as I had as a child, always delivered safely and on time. Thank you for your amazing work.

Still one of if not THE best in the area for their famous Staffordshire Oatcakes. As always we treated ourselves to an array of filled & cooked "ready to eat" oatcakes together with a supply of "and natural" for eating later. We rounded our order off with a dozen fruit pikelets which are perfect for "afters" eaten either as-they-come or toasted with a topping of your choice. Important in these post CV-19 pandemic times the place is fully compliant and lovely and clean with customers being asked to queue outside whilst awaiting their counter orders to be prepared.

Probably the worst oatcakes I've ever had, cheese was like a mushy substance with something added to it to make it go further, 1 tiny piece of bacon, sausage cut into little slices and burnt and had raw onions

The best oatcakes in the potteries!!!! Don't go anywhere else, you need to buy your oatcakes from here. The staff are friendly, polite and welcoming. They also do breakfast in a box or filled oatcakes, please try them you won't be disappointed. High Lane oatcakes have just been taken over and to be honest I'm not impressed!!!!... They've changed and not for the best. We now go Haywood Road oatcake shop, shame really because they WERE the best in the city!!!

The cheese on these oatcakes is the best cheese I've ever had. This place gets me through working a weekend. The staff are lovely efficient and everyone abides to social distancing making it a pleasure to visit

Very poor since takeover nowhere near as nice

I live on High Lane and have used HL Oatcakes for years. When Poveys first took over I didn’t believe that the recipe had changed as they still tasted and looked the same. Fast forward to today (7/3/21). Yuk yuk yuk. I opened the bag and I could smell poveys oatcakes. I know this smell as I work at a local supermarket who sell poveys. I took an oatcake out and it felt rubbery. Once they were filled and I started to eat them, every time I took a bite, all’s I could smell were poveys. I was at work last night and I could have bought 6 poveys oatcakes for 89p. This morning I went to get what I thought were proper oatcakes and I was charged just shy of £5 for 18 oatcakes....daylight robbery! I’m adding photos of the oatcakes I bought today, please take the time to compare the look of them to the pictures that are on Google images from 2 years ago, not forgetting that poveys state that they still use the original HL Oatcake recipe, if this is the case they should still look like the oatcakes from 2 years ago, and that, they do not! Cornhill and Hamil Road, here I come!!!

I travel from mansfield to high lane oatcake shop in burslem. Why because they are the best oatcakes in the world. I have tried others and they taste like you are chewing on a cardboard box.. High lane for me any day of the week. Actually today 14.5.18.. Is a good day for a ride on the bike to fetch 12 dozen. But they are closed on mondays and wednesdays...dam.. Partner ordered 5 bacon cheese oatcakes for delivery today. When arrived they were sloppy (like they had been warmed in a microwave) the one i tasted had 1 piece of streaky bacon and chewy cheese. Obviously these are different owners than before. Will not be going here again.

These oat cakes have got to be the best in Staffordshire. Great variety of fillings and for just over a couple of pounds you can have three different ones. They also sell them without fillings to take home and pop in your freezer. Also they sell bacon sausages and bags of grated cheese so you can make them yourself at home. Highly recommend them
