Went in with my friend for a coffee and was faced with a major choice of lovely home baked cakes and tray bakes! I have never seen such a selection and looked for a couple of minutes then asked the owner to choose a cake! I ordered a latte and my friend had an americano and a fruit scone, very soon after our order arrived! Wow I got a lovely latte and a massive Victoria sponge topped with a strawberry, the sponge was so moist and flavoursome. My friends coffee and scone was very nice as well! Freshly homemade food cannot be beaten! Can’t wait to return Thanks again a gem by the harbour

We visited Johnshaven and were in need of lunch. The Hidden Treasure Tearoom is in an ideal location right at the harbour with a nice view. Service is friendly and the place is busy and buzzing. We had a couple of scones, a cake and a sandwich. Quality was decent. Interestingly, tables were reserved in a tearoom.

What a gem of a cafe. Fantastic selection of speciality teas and cakes and very helpful staff. We arrived at the cafe late afternoon when they were only serving tea, coffee and cakes. My sister-in-law is diabetic and was disappointed there were no savoury offerings after 3pm. However when she explained to the staff, they were able to offer her a fruit slice made with coconut suger which she could safely eat. It was a huge slice and delicious. I had a rocky road topped with a tunnock teacake. OMG! It was devine. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Reasonably priced cafe which is only offering take-away at the moment. Lovely coffee and home baking (vegan options too), and my friend tells me they do the best bacon roll for miles! They also do scoop ice creams and have a vegan vanilla.

This is the second time I have reviwed this coffee shop. We visit on a fairly regular basis and have never been disappointed. Well worth the 40 mile drive. This morning is was bacon and egg rolls and yes..... double yokers. Yummie. Lovely coffee. At different times we have sampled the cheese scones, fruit scones and Victoria sponge all of which we would highly recommend. The owners are charming and the place is spotless and in a beautiful location. Reasonable prices. What's not to like. Wee tip though they are closing 22 December and opening again maybe February weather dependent and they close on a Wednesday. Believe their Facebook page is now up and running.

A delightful tearoom with amazing cakes and a perfect view of the old fishing harbour in Johnshaven. As well as the home-baked cakes, there are welcome sandwiches and soup. Also a wide range of ice-creams in the warmer months. Very friendly and helpful staff. An asset to this beautiful village.

We have been several times and each time the food is delicious. I cannot say enough that is good about the cakes! Hearty soup, I do like the Lentil and bacon and the latte is really good. There is always a warm welcome. The walkers seem to enjoy coming in from the rain and the cold ready to set off again feeling fortified.

Called here on a sunny day and Johnshaven couldn't be more perfect.Found this gem of a cafe and had a lovely lunch served by the ever smiling owner. After a stroll around the small harbour we returned for ice-cream and cake and coffee. Sat outside and sunned ourselves and looked at a flat calm sea. All the food is absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. Light airy tea room, very clean, as are the toilets. A definite 'must do' on your itinerary.

Situated on the harbour front at Johnshaven, the Hidden Treasures Tearoom is a spotlessly clean, light and airy café which opened in spring 2019. It has hit on a winning formula with friendly staff, delicious cakes and a superb location. We sat at the window table watching the waves roll onto the harbour walls while having tea and marvellous scones. It was a pleasant break in our coastal walk. Seek it out if you’re in Johnshaven.

Went here today for a birthday treat and it was lovely. Only 7 tables but staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. Not much choice for food options, soup, sandwich or bacon/ egg roll, but the food was fresh and tasted amazing. They did have a fantastic variety of cakes and tray bakes ( which were very fresh & delicious) and even catered for Gluten Free. I can highly recommend the Courgette & Walnut cake with a scoop of ice cream..scrummy.

This certainly was a hidden treasure. We were so pleased to find this lovely place as it’s a new venture and wasn’t here when we last visited this delightful fishing village. What a lovely welcome we received from both the owners. It was such a beautifully clean and pretty coffee shop. We ate the best breakfast we have had for some time and it was just a lovely environment to wake up in and start the day. The coffee was very tasty and strong too as requested. It was very reasonable too for such good quality food. We will be visiting here for breakfast for the rest of our weeks stay in Johnshaven. Thank you to you both,

Stopped in with my dad for some lunch on Sunday 3rd of June. Place was in a lovely location and staff were friendly. Dad had soup and a bacon roll. I can't eat gluten so the sandwiches and rolls were off the menu but fortunately the soup was gluten free and they had some gluten free oatcakes for me as an alternative. Fantastic cake selection! A choice of a few gluten free bakes. I went for the gluten free courgette and lime cake which was delicious. Will be back!

I had walked along the coastal trail from Inverbervie to Johnshaven and was hoping there might be a cafe when I arrived. This little gem is right on the seafront and looks very clean and welcoming with a good view out to the harbour. The lunch menu is limited - soup, sandwiches and bacon rolls seemed to be all there was. No baked potatoes, paninis or toasties. Also they don't seem to do a soup and sandwich deal where you can add a small bowl of soup to a sandwich for an extra £2 or so. That might be a good idea to pick up. However they do have a very impressive display of cakes and ice cream. Despite there not being a deal, I had soup which was cock a leekie and a ham and cheese sandwich. The soup was good and the sandwich was a very generous size with lots of cheese, served with salad, coleslaw and a small bowl of crisps. Afterwards I had a coffee and chose a piece of lemon sponge cake which again was a generous slice and totally delicious. The carrot cake also looked very tempting. It was the first time I had been in Johnshaven, and I found myself already planning to return. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the toilet very modern and clean and disability accessible. It's a bit off the beaten track for drivers, as you have to make a deliberate effort to turn off the main road, but well worth the trouble.

The tea room is right beside the harbour, well though out, clean and has an interesting choice of reading matter. Already looking forward to my next visit.

This was our first visit to this tea room, as it has only recently opened and we were immediately struck with the lovely marine themed decor. As the tearoom is next to the harbour it is very appropriate. The service was very very good and the homemaking was superb. I choose a chocolate and orange cake and it was one of the best cakes I have ever had and as a lover of cakes that is praise indeed.

On a very wet day we were recommended to come here and were not disappointed. Warm and friendly welcome, excellent service and delicious lunch. Akira and Carol both attended to little details without asking - ie Carol serving an extra large portion of chips when I declined other veg that were on the menu (brother in law pleased to help me out!) and Akira giving my sister a takeaway box as she couldn't manage the whole of her panini. Brillliant. I live in Devon so may not be passing through again but would wholeheartedly recommend visiting.

Visited here for Sunday "carvery" whilst staying onsite. Service was excellent by all staff members, however we were expecting a carvery where you help yourself to a selection of roast meats and veg. This wasn't the case it was just a regular Sunday roast prepared in the kitchen and served at your table. The roast itself was very average, the only veg being peas and carrots along with cheap tasting pigs in blankets. This was priced at around £21 pp for 2 courses,I think it was done as cheap as possible. Although the food tasted absolutely fine it was by no means anything other than average and definitely not a carvery.
