We went for a jazz concert night and had the best time. It’s a cosy place with a great atmosphere. If I lived in Cambridge, I would go every week for jazz night.

Great place! Kindly staff with nice environment! There is problem with parking, only for disabled people is available.

We attended one of the Ultimate Experience Rum cocktail classes on Saturday. It was very good value for money. It was so informative, entertaining and one of the best classes I’ve been to. They are exceptionally good at what they do and the venue is the perfect place to host it. The cocktails were amazing! We are very excited to go back for an evening of cocktails!

The cocktails were pretty good! Staff were very attentive! Would definitely come back! Hidden Rooms is such great name for a bar, but it was kind of too bright in there for anything to be hidden lol I feel like it needs more decor on the walls (black and white photos etc). Dimming the lights at the bar would help with the overall vibe too. Replace the candles on the table with tiny lamps, play some jazzy music 🎷 …you know what I mean?

Beat cocktail bar in Cambridge. I visited recently with my fiance and we booked the first sitting-the (I’m gathering) manager or floor manager was fantastic. Great character and really made it an enjoyable experience for us. The drinks were 10/10 made to perfection. We wish we could have stayed longer but we had a train to catch. We will be back as it was fabulous.

We had a brilliant time at Hidden Rooms! We were a group of 8, attending a STEN do. Organising the event with Marcus was super easy to do. He was very attentive, knowledgeable, and just a brilliant host! We made 2 rum-based cocktails each, then had fun making our own shot as a team and then broke off for a ‘couples cup’ competition of making a final cocktail in nightclub conditions- a surprise arranged by Marcus. Thank you so much! I will be returning on my next trip to Cambridge.

Marcus Was there any need to attack Mrs Morris after she posted a review? You came at her because she didn't know you had some bad news! Perhaps you should have had the day off. Saying to her you don't know the story, well I was the gentleman you called "a long haired c&nt" and she was there to witness it. A comment to you about Cambridge City Council. So why is that an incident being under investigation by the Police? As if they would be remotely interested? We all know it's YOUR club, so perhaps a bit more of a jovial attitude wouldn't go a miss!

"Hidden Grooves" at Hidden Rooms on Saturday, 16 March 2024, if you are looking to be insulted at the end of your night then this is the place to visit, Marcus Deaves thought it was appropriate to call a member of the public "a long haired c£nt" and then proceeded to say "don't come back" .... now that's what you call customer service! I emailed Marcus to ask his reasoning behind his comments and guess what "no response"!

I had the misfortune of encountering the atrocious customer service at Hidden Rooms in Cambridge. Initially, a helpful female staff member graciously directed me to the bar to peruse the drink options. However, upon reaching the bar, my friend was accosted by a short, dark-haired male bartender with the charm of a disgruntled ferret. He rudely chastised my friend for daring to inquire about the available drinks, spewing profanity like a broken faucet. It appears that politeness is a foreign concept to the staff at Hidden Rooms. If you enjoy being verbally assaulted while attempting to enjoy a drink, then by all means, visit Hidden Rooms. Otherwise, steer clear and find a place where basic decency is not an endangered species.

Very rude staff, avoid at all costs

They don't do food so no rating. Hired for private party, good atmosphere, good bar and good DJ, playing the music for his audience!

The best new year’s eve ever! We went to Hidden Rooms to celebrate new year’s eve and it did not disappoint! The cocktails were amazing and all of the staff were very welcoming. The service was very fast and the DJ’s were great. We can’t wait to go back again.

Beautiful place, great staff, and good drinks. The only reason for 4 starts instead of 5 was that it was really cold and we just couldn't get comfortable. My husband never gets cold and even he wanted to leave because the outside air is able to just come straight inside and I'm not sure if they even had the heat going. It's probably wonderful at a warmer time of year.

Did a cocktail making class here (competing with colleagues). Amazing presentation and very professionally organised. Loved the vibe, it's a very cool place. Two things, the cocktails were rum based which suited me, but not everyone in the group, and secondly, our team clearly won, and our host didn't disqualify my work colleagues for cheating so they think they won. You may think this unimportant, but we're still talking about it weeks later 😂😂

Poor ventilation, slow service at an overpriced bar for drinks in plastic cups. Strangley they will serve bottles at £5.20! Smoke drifts in from people smoking outside. Coupled with plastics / bottle collectors that either have OCD or are on commission for the number of plastics or bottles returned. Overall a disappointing experience after buying tickets for Dr Packer….

Fresh decor and a beautiful place.

Fab cocktails with high alcohol content and really friendly staff amd service. We went when it first opened so was a it dead would have been good atmosphere wise to have gone a bit later maybe when there was more People and a bit more of a vibe. But would go back again.

A group of us had an amazing time in learning how to make cocktails (and drinking them!). Marcus, the host, and his team were incredibly knowledgeable about the history behind the cocktails and made it such fun. Would highly recommend an afternoon of cocktail making with Marcus and his team, we will definitely be back again.

Really lovely little place. My friends and I really wanted somewhere quiet to enjoy a cocktail and chat after leaving a very noisy restaurant! This place was perfect. The website suggests making a reservation, but said walk-ins can be possible, so we tried and succeeded. All staff were very accommodating and made us feel very welcome. Table service was prompt, friendly, and prices were very reasonable for such a nice, sophisticated bar in Cambridge.

Myself and my partner, Ryan, visited Hidden Rooms back at the beginning of March. Our experience was fantastic from start to finish, Marcus and his lovely wife were helpful, funny and very accommodating. The cocktails are delicious and Marcus was so helpful with his recommendations, this man knows cocktails!! We’ve been to a few ‘speakeasy’ cocktail bars and Hidden Rooms is by far our favourite! We can’t wait to return next time we visit Cambridge!

Fantastic place for great service and bar staff. We had a surprise 30th birthday here, and they really went above and beyond to help truly make it a wonderful night.

Dark, noisy and stuffy. DJ didn't seem to know what he was doing. Only bartender smiled..the rest of the staff were non responsive. Admittedly event organised by a Greek-Cypriot club...perhaps it was their DJ.

Came here for the first time recently on a date night with my wife, following dinner so we already had a decent buzz and were in a good mood when we arrived. The drinks here were totally decent, albeit about 10-20% overpriced relative to other nice bar/restaurants in Cambridge which have significantly fancier vibes and better ambiance (eg, compared to Six rooftop, Parker’s Tavern). Not a huge deal, but notably more expensive. I love the idea of a basement lounge/speakeasy, but this place felt like it had a bit of an identity crisis, at least on the night we came in (Saturday night). First, the bar played Bob Marley greatest hits almost the entire time we were there (over an hour), playing at least a song or two twice. Love BM, but pretty weird vibe for a speakeasy with expensive cocktails… Second, the lighting needs some improvement. Love the dark lighting idea, but owner badly needs to replace current bulbs with warmer (yellower) lighting. Currently feels like a mix between darkness and small energy efficient fluorescent bulbs pointing in your face, which is NOT a sexy vibe and doesn’t make people look their best either. At least 50% of drinks were also pretty small as I looked around the bar, and I could see myself being pretty annoyed if I felt like I had to spend >30 quid each for 3 drinks in order to get a buzz. All that said, venue was generally nice, service was very attentive and friendly, and I like the general concept of the bar. Maybe just improve the playlist, lighting, and drink prices a bit?

My partner and I did the the cocktail master class, the whole session was excellent. Marcus the owner really knows his stuff and guides you through 4 popular (Vodka in our case) Cocktails. Then you make and drink them, we were well oiled, when we left. I highly recommend the experience 😂😂😂

Having visited Hidden Rooms on two previous occasions for pre-booked cocktail making sessions, each run superbly and enjoyed by all I was intrigued as to what they could create for New Years Eve. Our party of 10 arrived early (8pm). Greeted warmly, bar open (sensibly priced all night), music on. The night was perfect. Superb mix of people - young, old, in between. No drama. No arguments. Just 100+ people out to dance, drink and be merry. Bar staff superb all night and kept queues to a minimum. Music kept playing until 2am. Dance floor full for final 2 hours of the night. Thank you Team HR. All of you. Great job xx

Many thanks to everyone at Hidden Rooms who made New Year’s Eve happen. We were treated like royalty the whole night, had an amazing time, excellent drinks and a fantastic DJ who kept the atmosphere going. They made sure we all saw 2023 in in top style. Perfect venue for a perfect night - will definitely be visiting again!

The new year's eve party was awful and expensive to get in. Also was not allowed to be given the WiFi password and due to it being downstairs there was no signal the whole night. EDIT: Thank you for taking the time to reply to my review, although I must correct you. I actually left far later at around 10:15pm to head home. Although I was disappointed with my experience I wish you success in future events that you run.

A friend and I who aren’t local to Cambridge stumbled across this bar a year or so ago, and boy are we glad we did. We were in awe of the knowledge and service provided by the the staff. They have an incredible atmosphere inside, and honestly we find the cocktails an entire experience - nothing is too much, and they’ll go out of their way to give you what you want. We have returned multiple times since. They always recognise us… last time we were greeted at the door with hugs and “awwww nice people!!!”. We love it so much that we’re going to book for this New Year’s Eve… Great place, great people, great drinks!

We hosted my husband's 40th at the cocktail lounge. It was fantastic and a memorable celebration. Marcus was amazing and took care of everything including serving the Canapes. Highly recommend this venue. Our guests had such a great time too and we all enjoyed the delicious cocktails! Thank you Marcus for making the 40th birthday extra special!!

They found me and my partner a table this weekend. I got the impression the experience was structured to drive up the bill. In cocktail bars I always ask for a male drink; something hard, serious, strong with no umbrellas, straws or fruit stuck on the side. I was brought a Daiquiri. It was a good drink, so credit the barman, just not what I asked for. Then as we left, who I assumed was the floor the manager, came over, poked me in the chest and said 'have you paid?'. Beyond insulting. I'm not a thief. Hidden Rooms best left unfound in our opinion.

Very nice experience, staff are exceptional and really make the place what it is. Good value for what you get overall, no more expensive than any other cocktail lounge in the city but table service and relaxed low light environment makes it feel like an occasion.

Cool secretive environment for a private event

I have lived in England for about 2 years now and I must say, hands down, this is the best place I have been to. I made a reservation and gave details of what I like and the staff made this night a very special night for me. Lovely atmosphere, superb customer service, and a night I won’t ever forget. Thank you so much for everything that you did! 🥰

Nice enough venue and staff friendly but the cocktails are average at best in terms of choice and flavor. However they are really expensive for tiny measures - specially avoid ‘Old Fashioned’ £14 for less than a mouthful - really disappointed! Also avoid and the one with ‘Irish’ in the title.

A great bar, with really helpful staff!! We came for my friends hen do, Marcus, Dave and all the rest of the guys at Hidden Rooms were so helpful. Very friendly and made the night for our bride to be. Highly recommend!!!!!

They let us in to the venue despite only being open for dance classes on a Tuesday evening. The sever (we suspect he was the owner) was confident and welcoming. Would definitely recommend/come again. Also, easily the best Espresso Martini we’ve ever had.

The original cocktail experience was the best! Booked for a friends hen-do, the service from Marcus and Mikey was brilliant, fun, and engaging. I was a little apprehensive as I am not a gin drinker, but the cocktails were lovely. It was such a personal experience. The 2 hours just flew by, we wished we could have stayed longer. Went on Saturday 11th September. We'd missed our train and therefore booking slot - the door person made a big fuss of radioing down to see if they could "squeeze us in" while we waited on the street. Get this, it was almost completely empty. The cocktail menu was very limited, only a dozen bog standard options. They were small for the high prices with zero presentation like you'd expect from a venue like this, and they did not taste good. We left our 2nd cocktail as it tasted like medicine and left.

I expected more. My group made the atmosphere. Could barely hear the music. Still enjoyed ourselves though and staff were great! Update following owner response below: We were promised an 'Ibiza Hed Kandi' vibe and it definitely wasnt that. Our maid of honour was pinged and had to isolate and missed the party and was devastated so calling her cancellation out is a low blow. We also left a £40 tip which was approx 12.5% of the total spend so acting like we didnt care about service was wrong. Finally, Marcus needs to accept feedback gracefully we all live and learn and my feedback wasnt even that bad.

Amazing attention to detail from entering to leaving the hidden rooms. Probably the best cocktails we’ve ever had and the service from the cocktail maker, responsible for the cocktail menu, was worthy of more than 5 stars. We will be back. What a night.

Visited on 9th July with my boyfriend on a date night. The service here is superb - everyone we spoke with was extremely friendly and helpful, making for a wonderful experience. Even the doorman/bouncer! It was a tad on the cold side inside but this was soon forgotten. The drinks that we ordered were all very good (espresso martini, margarita, mai tai, last word and two others that I forget). However, the vast majority of cocktails are just the classics, which is a bit of a disappointment. They had one or two "bartender's specials" but it would really help elevate the experience, I feel, if they were to introduce a range of more interesting "signature" cocktails as part of the menu. So, minus one star for that. Minus another star for the fact that this is the only place that I've been to (in London and Cambridge) that won't serve tap water, veiling behind the COVID excuse. They give you one complimentary 500ml bottle of mineral water, but after that it's £2.50 a pop, which is steep. Literally everywhere else I've been has not had an issue serving tap water, so this feels like a poor excuse to wrangle more money from customers. Overall, I'd recommend Hidden Rooms for a cocktail experience, but I think I'd only really consider going back if the choice of cocktails is widened and the ridiculous "no tap water" policy is lifted. EDIT - in response to the overly combative and defensive owner / bouncer (because you had a bouncer security licence on your arm, so you may be the owner but you're also a bouncer - like you, "I DoN'T ReAd MinDs"): If you have 350 cocktails available, then state that somewhere, make it known. Whenever I go somewhere to eat or drink, I don't ask to see what's NOT on the menu I have been presented with. If you are happy and willing to give customers 2 or 3 additional bottles of mineral water without charge, then make it the standard. Again, I can only make an opinion based on the facts that I have been presented with. Your menu very clearly stated that additional bottles are charged for. Why would I assume I can get any more for free? So 3 out of 5 stars was probably initially harsh for the experience I had on the night, which was lovely, and probably warranted 4 out of 5 stars. But given the owner / bouncer is unreasonable, cannot take criticism, and likes to lash out at his customers, I'll keep it at 3. Bye.

Popped into hidden rooms w 2 friends whilst visiting Cambridge, Such a nice welcome by all the staff we encountered, shown to our table which was set with complimentary bottled water and menus. Great basement bar with a real club feel to it...the cocktails here are probably the best in Cambridge served by delightful and graceful staff...all managed under the watchful and charming eyes of Marcus.

So myself & 5 of my girlfriends spent a Sunday learning about the history of lots of different kinds of gin. And we got to make all the gun cocktails 🍹 and of course drink them. I can highly recommend this as a great experience with a group of friends. It was so much fun. Marcus the venues/business owner was so knowledgeable & him & his staff really did go the extra mile. Marcus also make sure we got pizza down ourselves which was a good suggestion to help soak up some of the yummy alcohol. He also made sure we all got safely in to a taxi at the end of the experience. Not great. Very cold. We had a issue with one of our drinks, but the bar manager was great about it. I think this place would have been OK before CoVid - it would have been a decent nightclub. But all the restrictions have done it no favours. We had a table booked for two hours but left after one hour.

Marcus kindly hosted a cocktail class for us, ably assisted by Mikey, and made us feel so incredibly welcome. We had such a wonderful time and learned lots about rum, ranging from its history and the variation in production across the Caribbean diaspora. Not to mention drinking a fair amount of it too ;) would recommend booking a class if you are looking for something a bit different to do. Thank you Marcus and Mikey, we will definitely be back again, thank you for making 2 very tired new parents day special :)

My partner and I had this bar booked for a long while. They did not bother to take our order after 25 minutes. Do not bother. Edit after owner's response: You are correct we did show up early. We spoke to the lady on the door and stated we knew this but would go elsewhere if inconvenient. Our table had our reservation on it and we were given a menu. Nobody came to take our drinks order. There is no ulterior motive behind this review it was simply atrocious that we were ignored. A shame as the cocktails looked great and the atmosphere was pleasant. The owner's response is testament to the fact that they do not care about feedback (unless it is positive). We went to a more deserving establishment. I do not take kindly to threats and the diction they have used.

A disappointing experience. My partner and I sat for 25 minutes without being served so we walked out and gave a more deserving business our custom. In response of their reply: We showed up early and asked if it was okay for us to sit down. The lady on the door said our table was ready, and there was no problem with us arriving early. We were seated with a menu, and no member staff showed up at all, despite other customers arriving after us and being served drinks. We decided to leave and find somewhere more welcoming. This venue's reply only highlights their respect and dedication to their potential customers. I'm glad our money went to a more polite and considerate business.

What a great bar to visit when in Cambridge. Fantastic staff with the best service from when we arrived until we left. The cocktails were so good too,will definitely be coming back on our net visit.

Me and friends did the delightful daiquiri cocktail masterclass last weekend. We had a fantastic time and it was a wonderful balance of fun and learning more about rum and correct techniques. We were very well looked after and found it great value for money, especially considering the excellent cocktail quality and having the venue to ourselves as it was before opening time and in the events room!

Just simply cosy great cocktails

What a cute location but what AWFUL service. It took 30 minutes to get a drink and I was the ONLY ONE AT THE BAR. The bar tenders were just talking and messing around the entire time. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Take your business elsewhere.

We have done 4 cocktail experiences here over the last five years, great afternoon! Would highly recommend.

While the decor is a little (a lot) shabby, with cracks in the walls and cobwebs - I can't fault the service. We were looked after so superbly that I can't really fault a few minor licks of paint needed here and there. Priced about right for good (if unimaginative) cocktails.
