Service not so great asked for bill and waited 15 mins before someone came back with a card machine but food is excellent.

Although food is lovely it’s very overpriced and on the pre-packed side. Mac n Cheese sauce is definitely a packet mix and quite bland. Side salad was wet, limp and quite unappealing. Some staff were great, others not so. Had 3 members of staff bringing our food to the table then leaving without asking if we wanted any condiments or drink top ups - so we had to get up and search for someone. This was a shame and should never have happened. When we asked to remove the service charge, the hostess wasn’t impressed. Don’t think I’ll be back in a hurry.

This place has got it sorted, busy but running like clockwork with fantastic staff and some really unusual but gorgeous dishes. Loved the cocktails, bacon bourbon starter and marshmallow dessert, great bit of theatre. It’s on the pricey side but you don’t mind when it’s so well done, I did feel we got value for money. Thank you.

Went as a family of four on a busy bank holiday weekend. Service, staff and atmosphere were top notch. The food was very nice as well, one of us had the beef brisket and the other three had the smokehouse platter to share between them, however while everything was delicious we were disappointed with the portion sizes of both meals and were honestly expecting much more for the prices being asked as it was expensive (not sure if there’s rationing or stock issues going on here). Everything was so nice we honestly wanted more so it’s hard to justify dining here again and wouldn’t really call it “value for money”. The platter was £60 for a fairly average sized basket and the brisket was £20 for three small slices of beef, that's £80 for not a whole lot of food on the table...have had more food from a meal at KFC. On top of this, including a sneaky £8.32 tip charge on the bill was outrageous and seems to be an effective way of exploiting additional revenue from customers and obviously we couldn't say no because declining to give tips would make us seem rude, and as someone who has worked in hospitality I feel this was really uncalled for, and have never seen any other establishment do such a thing. Tips should never be enforced on customers and it's entirely up to the customer to decide if they want to provide tips based on their experience and we didn’t feel like doing so on this occasion due to the disappointing portion sizes and high prices. This place has great potential and providing bigger portions would no doubt make it “bang for your buck”. Other than this we had a nice evening and enjoyed our time here, wouldn’t come back for a while though and is hard to recommend unless much more generous portions are offered for the prices asked. So in a nutshell, please provide bigger portions and scrap the "tips on the bill" thing. Hopefully this transparent and honest review has provided constructive feedback for the manager and hope they consider making some of these changes in the future to make the place worth it.

Pabst Blue Ribbon came in a can and wasn't chilled. Cowboy steak was good, the patties on the burger were small, overdone and very dry, I got through it with all the sauces and gravy given I was ravenous otherwise I would have sent it back. We had no check back at any point and not once, even upon paying and leaving were we asked how are meal was. Onion rings were decent, side of pulled pork with beans was barely warm. The desert menu arrived but the waitress never did ask for our order even though taking orders from the table behind us Time was going on and eventually it was I think the manager who's attention we caught and we just asked for the bill. Paid bill including their added tip which I bit my tongue at given we hadn't had much 'service'. I tried hard as I didn't want to spoil my partner's birthday by making a scene but I would not recommend or return.

AMAZING,EXCELLENT, WOW! I was briefly in the area for the day and came across Hickory's. I visited on a thursday and was fairly hungry and so opted for the BBQ BLOWOUT. I was not disappointed in anything. I will be back and fully recommend this chain of restaurant. Well Done to all the Team. 10/10.

Terrible how it has gone down hill, went with my partner last year, food size is reduced, prices higher, wasnt told about the tip being added to the bill and nobody came to give us drinks.Thought id give it another chance and book my friends hen do there as i know someone who has been for a hen do there and i was told no hen dos, my booking was cancelled without a care in the world, so this is one place i will never return, you cant even smell the nice cooking outside anymore.

We went here quite a few times.... the food was always good although sometimes it could be a little bit more hot. Service is a little bit up and down, but overall, it is good. My daughter usually enjoys very much the place. great durin the summer season with tables outside and small playground for kids.

Couldn’t fault our first ever experience of Hickory’s. From the friendly service to the most incredible food everything was perfect! Such a great place to go for a good atmosphere. Will definitely be returning!

Are here with my wife last weekend. Booked a table online a few days before and it was ready upon our arrival which was good given how busy the place was. Staff were polite, food was good and location was good with ample parking. It is very expensive for what you get and we had a better overall experience at the one near us, but it wouldn’t deter us from visiting again when we are next in the area.

Friendly staff ,we were told that there would be a delay with our food because someone dropped our meal ,but after we went back to our hotel my jeans were covered in salad and mayo ,we didn't notice at premises as it was dark ,

Had a lunch here mid week, there was a slight wait for the table but we were seated at the bar during our wait, and the service was very friendly and welcoming. Food was delicious. Overall, the slight wait was not an issue as the service and food made up for this!

Over rated, over expensive and over mucked about food. No wonder America has one of the world's biggest obesity problems. When we arrived a staff member told us she would be back in a moment never to be seen again and another person simply said "hi, you alright" and just carried on walking. Not the best of starts on our first visit to this place. No amount of gimmicks such as putting a bottle of tap water on the table and serving a "complimentary" paper bag of rather stale tasting popcorn will improve overall ambience! The 7.5% service tip/charity donation is a bit of a cheek - they describe it as "discretionary" but something that is imposed and requires an opt out leaves limited customer choice. This places the customer in the embarrassing situation of having to publicly request a fresh bill if they don't agree with the amount. It is also dishonest to not make it clear what amount is supposed to go to charity and what to the staff. If the company were paying their staff properly there is no need to impose any form of service charge especially based on the overall price of food and drink. However, I am totally in favour of charitable donations but I have standing orders and automatic bank transfers set up from my income - I don't need someone telling me who I should support and how much I should be giving. A visit to gents toilet was something to be missed if possible - clearly some type of drainage problem based on the smell and not exactly pristine cleanliness. Overall a rather disappointing lunchtime treat for what everyone kept telling me was a special birthday and at the age of 70 I really don't need this type of nonsense. Edit: it is always very sad that the only way to dent the arrogance of this type of chain is to give them a damning review - all of a sudden they provide an answer that makes them sound so reasonable and ask you to reach out to them! Where was the supervision and training when it was needed? I will contact their email address and find out what bribery they have on offer!

Staff very attentive, although I would be too if I was getting a £9 tip, this is added to the bill without consent and nobody mentioned it, it wasn't until I'd paid and looked at receipt I saw a £9 service charge... food was good, kids enjoyed themselves, will go again.

I have been coming here for years. Always great food, great service and I'd say about average/moderate food prices. They've changed the menu a few times, but plenty of options to suit most tastes. The milkshakes, cocktails and general drinks options are great.

We booked for our son’s 3rd birthday and both the staff and food were absolutely brilliant! They called on the day to offer us the function room, which meant no worrying about our noisy toddlers in the main restaurant. They allowed us to set the room up how we wanted it in plenty of time for our guests. The food was lovely and came out really quickly considering the size of our group. They even added a sparkler and cake board for our little boy which he absolutely loved! All in all, the staff were so good with us and made it such a great occasion. Definitely recommend for a little one’s birthday! Thanks so much to all the team!

We came mid-afternoon with a doggo so we sat outside in one of the heated huts so, can't speak too much about the atmosphere, but we're a hoot so we had a ball regardless. Service was great, menu was very meaty and tasty...our leftovers fed 7 of us with snackages later in the evening. The platter for two is great value and could probably serve three. The only issue was some of the ribs were a bit like beef jerky but if you like chewy, meaty goodness then you'll be grand! Highlights were the bacon bites, the brisket and the beef ribs....who am I kidding? It was all glorious.

Great new years day dinner. 7 of us booked for 2pm... Table wasn't available till 2.30pm.... Service was great though, and food was brill... Couldn't fault it otherwise... They were so busy.

On a weekend away we decided to try this out for dinner and we weren't disappointed! The food was amazing, we had the sharer platter and it was all fantastic! The staff were so friendly and pleasant. And so helpful! Absolutely made our night

Excellent experience. Staff were on top form from start to finish. Didn't have to wait for our food or drinks. The food was good and the portions are big. Well worth a visit. Just make sure you haven't eaten all day before going.

Always great food and great service

Three of us went on the Friday before Christmas. The place was absolutely heaving. We were shown to our table within minutes and even though the place was jam packed, the staff were very welcoming and had plenty of time for us. We had Ribs, a Burger and Mac n cheese, all of which were superb. The Manager, Jonathon, went "above and beyond" in my opinion, to make sure that we were happy and well looked after. The young man who served us, Cian, was not only friendly and welcoming, he was extremely helpful and also very funny! We all thoroughly recommend Hickory's, the atmosphere is lovely and the food and service are superb. Well done Cian and many thanks Jonathon, even though we live on Anglesey, so for us it is nearly a 2 hour round trip, we look forward to seeing you again as soon as possible.

I go to Hickory's as often as I can because, quite frankly, it's the best place to eat in North Wales. Every single time I go there I am surprised by how good the atmosphere is, how attentive the staff are, and just how goddamn delicious literally every single thing is. I only tend to write reviews of things that are absolutely sensational or completely abysmal, but when I saw that Hickory's didn't have a perfect 5/5 score, I wasn't having that. I'm telling you now, this is the best place to eat within 50 miles. Even the barbecue sauce on the tables is mindblowing on it's own. You want to get yourself down here as soon as you can, lad. It'll make you laugh, make you cry, and change your life

Extremely poor service. I made a reservation for 7.30, and ordered as soon as i sat down as i had a my 1yr old baby with me and family. The food never arrived and table next to us that ordered more or less the same food had their order and almost finished their meals. I asked 1 of the girls how much longer, and she she left came back to whipe down other tables paying no notice to tell us anything, until we asked again, to which she replied 5mins. It was then very clear she didn’t ask. Extremely terrible customer service and definitely will not be returning. Am writing this review and don’t wish for communication back from them. Dr. M Daym

Having not been for over 4 years my wife and I decided to forgot our previous bad experience and visit on xmas eve only because the venue portrays awareness about glutten, I might add my wife is a diagnosed coeliac diagnosed post our last visit. When our meal was presented the usual request was made can I get you anything ? We requested salt and vinegar which we got, I instantly said to my wife I need to clarify if vinegar was glutten free surprise surprise it was not ! I think this needs reviewing by venue big time we were served by 4 different people during our meal which can lead to confusion which is what we encountered. For the records never again the lack of compassion shown for the mistake was very insulting bottom line get some glutten free vinegar if you want protect your customers.

Didn't meet expectations. We went for a midweek meal to celebrate a friend's birthday. I arrived first and had to wait some time at the door before being greeted. There was a server stood at the welcome desk but she was doing something on the computer and didn't look up to say hello or that someone would be with me soon. It was only after another server arrived that I was seated, all felt a bit awkward. We were left a very long time without being served and had to try very hard to catch the server's eyes as they did not seem to be actively looking to serve people, we noticed tables next to us having the same issue. We were all quite frustrated by the time we had left. Food and drink was absolutely fine.

Visited multiple times when it's time for a treat, and never disappointed. Always busy, which is a good sign. Only complaint I have, and it really annoys me, is why do they add £5 tip onto the bill? If I think staff deserve a tip, then I will give tip. I know I could have taken receipt back, and asked for the £5 to be taken off (but they know nobody would do this as they don't want to make a scene). Otherwise, already looking forward to visit again

We recently visited Hickory's for my daughter's birthday and were surprised at how busy they were considering it was a Monday evening outside the tourist season. Booking is definitely essential. Having been a number of times before and having tried several different burgers on this occasion I went with the wood smoked pork, jalapeno and cheese sausage. This is served with a pot of bourbon gravy, pickles, slaw and fries. I started off cutting chunks of sausage, dipping them in the gravy and adding a bit of pickle and slaw and I have to say that every mouthful was a taste sensation. The only problem was the helpings of pickles and slaw were a bit skimpy so I ran out of both halfway through eating the sausage. Fortunately there was enough gravy for the whole sausage but a bit more pickle and sausage would have made the meal perfect. Service is always good, prices are a bit high (but at least the food is usually worth it) and the weirdly sloping car park is an experience, especially if you've had a couple of drinks with your meal!

Food was delicious, menu isn't very varied but what they make is excellent. Background music was too loud, which for us slightly spoiled our visit, made it hard to converse. Service is good it wasn't very busy and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Food took ages, and when it finally arrived, it was cold. The meat tasted like packet beef slices. I ordered my family drinks, and they took that long to come. After asking twice for them, we ended up paying the bill and cancelling them anyway. The waiter was very rude, I asked for salt, and he basically dashed on the table. Very poor service and food. Fab smoke house on the Welsh north coast. Found it with Google reviews, naturally and it lived up to expectations. The meat fell away and was delicious. Good sides including coleslaw, chips and a BBQ dip. The Louisiana wings were sizzling. We arrived mid afternoon on a Friday, hence a bit quiet and lacking atmosphere. Not sure what it's like during peak times. Ample parking around the back. Enjoy.

Love a Hickory’s! This is the 3rd different one we’ve been in and always had a great time with fabulous food. Would advise to book well in advance as these get full quickly, it’s always busy. There is gluten free menu available. Food was hot and tasty, the platter we shared was massive and we didn’t finish it, but was offered the option to take home what we couldn’t eat. Lots of different drinks and cocktails also available, great for kids with their own entertainment areas. There is seating outside with some very cute huts here as well. Highly recommended.

A bit busy most of the time, but despite rush hour, the servers were very helpful and prompt. Food is great.

My family and I recently celebrated our daughter's 4th birthday at Hickories, and it was nothing short of amazing! From the moment we inquired about bringing our own cake and candles, the staff's response was warm and accommodating. Upon our arrival, we were greeted with outstanding hospitality, setting the tone for a delightful evening. Our meal was not only delicious but also a feast for the eyes. When the birthday cake emerged, we were pleasantly surprised to find that they had replaced our regular candles with a sparkler candle – a thoughtful touch that brought pure joy to our daughter's face. What truly made our visit exceptional was the unexpected treat that followed. The waitress and bar staff graciously offered our daughters a free milkshake-making class, which they enjoyed immensely. This was topped off by a trip to the kids' cinema within the restaurant, creating unforgettable memories. Our daughter had the best birthday ever, and she couldn't stop smiling, with tears of joy in her little eyes all the way home. We're immensely grateful to all the staff at Hickories in Rhos on Sea for their dedication and going the extra mile to make this day truly special. We highly recommend Hickories for any family celebration – they exceeded our expectations and made our daughter's 4th birthday one for the books!

It was OK, but certainly wouldn’t go further than that. Last visited Hickory’s in Chester a few years ago and really felt that the intimacy of the experience and something a bit different from the ‘chains’. This just felt like churn it out pub fayre. I ordered ribs and expected meat falling off the bone, but none of that. I had to cut the meat from the bone. Just very, very average and catering for the masses. Massively disappointing.

Love Hickorys and love the steak and shake deals. Perfect portion of food. Had a side of mac n'cheese and very small portion for nearly £5. Very loud as always early evening as always busy. Staff are fab and friendly. However, this evening was also cold and sat right next to window. Told server I was cold and she just agreed. No offer to change seats. Very minor grumbles and definitely won't stop us going again and again.

We sat outside in garden near back of pub. Staff were really polite,food was amazing, we had belly pork bits and dip and chicken strips with dip for starters and main my Husband had pulled ork and beans with dusted fries and I had steak and taters (mini hashbrown balls),these were so nice. Will return to try more of the menus. Thank you

Quiet when we arrived at noon but soon filled up. Staff very attentive. Food quick in arriving. My son and I had the chicken waffle, delicious, and my daughter in law had the steak and eggs which she soon polished off. My son had a drink that he asked to be adapted of the menu and they obliged him. Great place for just nipping in and having something different.

Just dropped in after watching the seals at Angel Bay. It was 1730 on a Saturday and quite busy . But good food and friendly staff.

Went tonight. Was £60 for 2 main a kids meal, kids dessert and a few drinks. Food was ok. My half chicken had a small cup full of fries, and a tiny amount of whatever the veg dish was. But what has annoyed me is the amount of ice in the drinks, the glass is more ice than drink. It's obvious this works in the restaurants favour but 3 gulps of a 'pint' of coke and it's gone and your left with a full glass of ice. After complaining once, I couldn't be bothered again. I won't be rushing back feels like one of those places where the price doesn't reflect the value, shame really.

We ordered the sharing platter because we couldn't decide so had a bit of everything we couldn't eat it all but took the rest home be aware they add a tip without asking so we ended up tipping twice still I would definitely Go back the stuff we took home did another meal there's plenty of parking and very easy to find

I never write reviews but feel I need to as I can't contact them despite trying the email. My brother suggested here for my birthday as he had been the day before for his birthday and said he was surprised with donut and cream and a sparkler, as we wanted to try the food anyway, my boyfriend booked. I did get a sign on the table with happy birthday but that was all I got so that was quite disappointing. Food was nice, we got the sharing platter and really enjoyed it. However the guy clearing the table next to us sprayed my arm whilst I was still eating. I don't even think he realised he had done it as he asked me if I wanted another drink straight afterwards. Lastly and this is the main issue here for me. We went to pay and my partner paid by card. Once we had left he gave me the receipt and the figure wasn't right. I then quickly realised that the girl had charged him almost a £5 tip without asking or given consent. I'm absoloutely gobsmacked! I was stood right next to him and she didn't once ask him. That's theft! Over all I'm quite upset with our first visit because not only did I not get the same treatment as my brother, we paid over £70 for a sharing platter and 2 drinks and a tip that wasn't even asked for! I feel awful for my partner

Visiting the area, limited choice was open on a Monday and the menu for Hickory's looked good. We thought it would be more like an independent restaurant. We wanted to try a few things so ordered a sharing platter. The quality of meat wasn't consistent, chicken texture was almost as though it had been reheated, ribs were dry and mac & cheese tasted like it was a Heinz can with melted cheese on top but the brisket was amazing, chill cheesy chips lovely, I loved the coleslaw (partner didn't) and overall it was okay. I don't think we'd return and choose the same option again but would probably try their burgers or chicken as seeing others with these options, they looked really nice.

We haven't been in Hickory's Rhos on Sea for a while so thought we would go for the steak & a shake deal £12.99. The music was too loud, especially for lunch time. The steaks were lovely as experienced before and the chips average. However the strawberry shake was not great. Too thick, with grainy bits in. Everyone was leaving their shakes. They used to be such nicer so something has drastically changed. We wouldn't bother again.

We did a 3 night stay in llandudno for an anniversary get away. With not much option around llandudno to eat.. we decided to try hickorys only a short 5 min drive from llandudno prom. We are glad we did. We visited twice in the three night stay. What a little gem. The first visit we didnt book..this was no problem.. the host made sure we was happy with the table and was sat down straight away.. no issues The food is fresh..large portions reasonably priced. As i work in a restraunt myself it was nice to see staff so calm and happy in the work enviroment, nothing was too much trouble. Will definatly be returning when we are next in wales. Would 100% recommend if you are in the area!

Hickories is such an amazing place to eat that I've gone there for both breakfast and lunch, and been amazed by the food each time. There such a range of quality food, with great serving sizes that it's very unlikely you'll go away hungry. The staff are nice and are really reliable, the prices aren't super steep either. The only slight issue you can think of is that the car park is on a slope, and there's a lot of stairs to get to the main entrance, but to me this isn't any issue at all. One of my favourite places still to go out with family and friends for any meal of the day

Lovely place, beautiful lit up outside seating area, there was even live music outside. Food was absolutely amazing! I shared the smokehouse platter with my mate, and it was the best. 2 big guys and we struggled to finish it! Spot on!
