The best food I have had in a long time, the strawberry cheesecake blew my mind. The waiters could not have been more lovely or welcoming. One of the best restaurants in Edinburgh!!

Found this gem on my trip to Edinburgh! Absolutely amazing food—I was looking for something like this for so long. Heavenly desserts! I had whisky ice cream, which reminded me of Poland. Thank you.

Best vegan food in Edinburgh (perhaps the world!?). But honestly, had an amazing meal. One of those meals that reminds you why you seek out restaurants on vacation. Every once in a while, you discover one that is just next level. Hendersons is a step above. The Vegan haggis, cheesecake and Turkish delight martini were incredible. And our server, Lily was super fun, knowledgeable and just made the whole dining experience that much better!! Thanks Hendersons!!!

Everyone raves about the vegan haggis here, and they are right, it is delicious! It wasn’t too salty, I loved that it was made out of legumes, and the whiskey sauce was tasty yet not overpowering. My friend had the mushroom main course. The texture of the mushrooms were wonderful, but the asparagus was very al dente, overall low key salad vibes which seemed slightly disappointing considering it was £24. It did taste great though! The starters we shared were okay. The bean guac was honestly “meh”, not super tasty and the bread could have been warmed up and cut into smaller pieces rather than two rather large/thick slices. The jackfruit tostada had good flavours. The staff were friendly and the restaurant had a chilled vibe!

The food was excellent. The staff and especially the waitress who took care of us were very attentive and sweet. We will come again when we come to Edinburgh :)

Great food and friendly service

As a coeliac and vegetarian with a dairy allergy eating out dessert option is usually mango sorbet or mango sorbet , for the first time ever I had a choice of not one, not even two but 5 desserts and none of them were mango sorbet.The rest was lovely too, but desserts! All the stars from me!

An absolutely lovely place. Food is delicious and beautifully presented, menu selection is interesting, and the service is impeccable. The staff made very effort to provide a great experience. Highly recommended.

Always have a great experience at Henderson's. Both the food and staff/service is lovely, and the service is lovely even when attending by myself (still given a nice seat and shown attention by staff, while some restaurants tend to seat solo diners out of the way and focus on groups). I have now visited Henderson's as many times as I have been to Edinburgh and intend to continue this streak 🙂

Quite an expensive place compared to other places but totally worth it!! The food was DELICIOUS and a lot of work has been put into it ! I wasn't able to get dessert as I was full with my nibble, starter and main. I had made a reservation and was wonderfully welcomed. I had some sort of pâté with a delicious Easter themed cocktail. The soupe du jour was exceptionally good and so tasteful! I tried the haggis as it is a Scottish traditional dish and, even if I am not able to compare it with the original version, this vegan version was delicious. A mix between sweet and savory, totally balanced and filling. The staff was super nice. I definitely recommend.

I visited Hendersons on a recent long weekend away in Edinburgh. From start to finish the staff were friendly and informative. The food was fantastic as were the cocktails and the wine list. I highly recommend a visit, I will definitely be returning

Absolutely brilliant experience! Beautifully presented healthy and hearty food; the olives are some of the best I have ever tried and I highly recommend drizzling the leftover olive oil on the bread, it's delicious. The cocktails are great (I had a blackberry rosemary one that I enjoyed so much I had to order another), and the staff are friendly but also very professional, attentive but not obtrusive. We had a fantastic time! My one suggestion for improvement would be to have more of the tarragon sauce with the haggis dish as there is a lot of mash, but it was delicious nonetheless and I really look forward to coming back and trying more things! Big thank you to the whole team for a wonderful evening.

The reason for our poor review is that a £7.44 tip charge was added to our bill without consulting us in advance. Although the waitress mentioned that they could remove it if we requested it, it is evident that they take advantage of the fact that the majority of customers, out of embarrassment or discomfort, do not do so. We find it unacceptable that such an amount is included without authorization, especially when a high price has already been paid. These types of practices generate distrust and are not typical of a serious establishment.

Amazing food and excellent service. Great price too

Great find. Good value lunch deal. Fresh, interesting food. Pleasant accommodation, attentive staff. We both had a starter and a salad. The beetroot starter was excellent, with crisp chicory leaves and extraordinary pickled pear. Broccoli and cavolo nero salad with blood orange, cranberry and hazelnuts very good (had had previously). Guest commented ‘very nice tostada and friendly, helpful staff’.

Food was excellent! Service was outstanding. Everyone was so incredibly kind and helpful

Such a lovely spot - perfect for vegetarians and people who appreciate healthy and creative food. So many different flavours and vegetables. Everything was so filling, healthy and tasty. The service was excellent. Lovely interior and spot too - only tip would be to dim the lights slightly to make it even cozier. also good price point.

Delicious food and great atmosphere

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal last night. Only one veggie in our group, but we all loved the delicious flavours. Had the sharing nibbles between us, which were all excellent, particularly the broad bean guacamole. Nice to be offered more of the lovely sourdough without having to ask. Favourites in the mains were the haggis and, for me, the miso aubergine stole the show. Staff were knowledgable about the ingredients, attentive and cheerful, adding to the comfortable relaxed vibe. Looking forward to trying out the lunch menu soon.

I found the dishes alternated between bland (the carrot thing) and over-spiced (the miso aubergine dish and another dish I can't find the name of. We ordered "Smoked almonds, cashews + peanuts" and got a small bowl of very ordinary peanuts. There might have been one cashew that slipped my attention but there were definitely no almonds.

Brilliant plant based cuisine with truly original approach to vegetarian flavours, and incredibly kind service. Definitely new favourite place in Edinburgh.

We were impressed with the choice and quality of the set lunch. Delighted at the range of gluten-free offerings. Staff great.

Had an absolutely wonderful meal at Hendersons - couldn't fault it from start to finish. Staff were extremely friendly, mocktails were divine, and the food was just delicious. The dark chocolate tartlet was especially amazing. One of the best meals we've ever had.

Varied menu, the place is completely vegetarian and practically everything can be made vegan. The food is good, we both had haggis but in two different dishes: a kind of pie and croquettes, both good even if the pie was slightly spicy, be careful if you don't tolerate this taste too much. For the rest, the place has a very comfortable and welcoming atmosphere and the service was impeccable. A special mention for the dessert, we had the apple tart and it was truly amazing. If we were to go back to Edinburgh we would definitely go back!

Everything in this restaurant was perfect: I walked in without a reservation and they immediately found a table for me, even though the place was packed. The service was amazing, everyone was extremely nice and tried to make conversation, which I really appreciated! Eating alone at a restaurant can be daunting sometimes, but I felt welcomed and "wanted" at this Hendersons. I got the veggie Haggis and it was one of the best things I've ever eaten in my entire life! The olives, Sourdough Bread and butter were also a very nice entrée. Overall, I would definitely go back, but the menu was definitely a bit pricy! For those two plates I spent 25£ (with no drinks, just tap water)

This was our first time at Hendersons - we received a really warm welcome, plenty of time to go through the menu. My son had the haggis and I the Cullen Skink, beautiful, tasty, and very happy to recommend

We had a mid-week dinner here and it was such a nice change to eat out and feel like it was a genuinely healthy experience too. The food was so delicious, wonderful service, great value and very lovely atmosphere. We will be back for sure.

Exceptional fresh and creative vegetarian food! Veggie haggis croquettes were the stand out for us, as well as delicious mocktail/non alcoholic drinks offerings. Dessert felt like a bit of an after thought, but I can take that given the level of delicious that the rest of the food was. I am dairy free so couldn't order what I would assume is the best dessert item - tiramisu. Staff were friendy, knowledgable and accommodating. All of the toilets are down a flight of stairs so unsure how accessible the whole restaurant is.

Amazing veggie/vegan food across the board - the vegan Cullen Skink was a real highlight! Many non-vegan dishes have an option for vegan version too. Incredibly friendly and attentive staff as well.

it was so lovely! tasty food, lovely staff and great ambience. i had the lunch deal which was a sandwich + soup for £10 - was amazing and totally worth the price. I’ve been here now around 4 times and the only thing that’s not great is that the service isn’t very quick. If you don’t mind waiting it’s good :) They also add on a service charge to your bill automatically (they do say it’s optional) which isn’t my favourite but it’s not compulsory!

Really lovely experience here. The serving staff were very attentive and friendly, and the food was really excellent and creative - the soybean black rice was a particular highlight!

Lovely staff and excellent food - we were there on a Friday night and our only complaint was that it was quite noisy and we had trouble hearing each other (there were 4 of us). However, that wouldn't deter us from returning.

The food was great (so good I forgot to take pictures) and the staff was really nice.🤍

Great staff who are very kind and caring, taking time to explain the different options/ menu and recommendations. This was equally matched with the menu itself, would highly recommend to anyone that is catered towards wanting to try something new and tasty.

Three dining areas: as you come in with high table and two separate dining areas. The area in front of the windows was nicer. Dried scrubs on the ceiling and also on the wall with upfront Wood tables with wood chairs Focus lighting coming from the ceiling shubbery and the end mirror A lot of wood with being colour pain with plant son the window ledge Nice table in front of the window for people watching Nice chill music Figaro was ok, a tad bit too sweet but made better with a touch of water to blend the sweetness in Good looking dish- one piece which is somewhat pricy Sour and sweet Crispy tostada with what looks like mole red cabbage Picked pineapple and jackfruit was sweet but void of substantial taste. The haggis croquettes was more generous with three piece - tasted more like a nut croquette rather than haggis It was nice but would have been better if there was no association with haggis or tying to pretend that it was a replacement for haggis Mustard sauce was ok, somewhat overpowering and could have been something more subtle 12.5 % service charge option but not reflective of service

Went in July 2024 and can’t stop thinking about it, so came here to finally leave a review. Revisit is imperative; easily the best restaurant I’ve ever been to, and the full veggie philosophy is the cherry on top!

Girlfriend has a lot of intolerances and needs to follow a low fodmap diet due to it, it’s often met with a lot of issues from places but Hendersons has provided the most caring and professional service surrounding this we have ever experienced not to mention the food was simply divine. Thank you and we will be back many more times in the future
