Hello Oriental in Manchester

Don’t trust their opening times I suggest you agree on when it will start. It’s really annoying not being able to eat when you come here. Please change the business hours^^ Now I don’t want to come here again.

ordered the cheesy udon noodles and spicy korean carbonara ramen with katsu and both of them are not as expected at all. both of them tastes exactly the same, like they were only cooked with parmesan and chili. the katsu chicken was also very bland. many of the tables are also filled with dirty plates and drinks and not cleared for a long time.

Really nice food and decent sized portions for a reasonable price! 😍

Food was good and lots of choice but all their advertisement says there is an Asian supermarket market which is nowhere to be seen! So left disappointed. The table scanners also didn't work correctly and were made to seem as though we had ordered at the incorrect table despite it not being our fault...

The place is nice overall. Food has traditional Asian flavours. The portions are very generous considering the price. Unfortunately we kept getting bothered by fruit flies which was irritating.

Overall I would say it's a place to give a go. Personally I really enjoyed the cheesy kimchi chips and char siu boa. We also had the Malaysian curry which was okay but tasted like it was made from those cubes you dissolve in water. We had some black bean noodles which tasted of nothingness so don't recommend them. The bubble tea was okay, but would rather walk up the road to Ohayo. I do want to come back and try the noodle soups.

Amazing food, love the different ice cream flavours they have, slightly expensive but ingredients taste very fresh

Service was quick and there's a wide range of dishes. There's a small shop on the lower floor where you can buy drinks and other foodstuffs. You can order via QR code and make reservations.

Great concept. Enjoyed the food and bubble tea. Would definitely recommend!

Overall a good experience - the beef bulgogi was inconsistently sliced so some bits were perfectly thin as they should be whilst other bits were a bit chewy. All in all though the food was served quickly and tasted good. Music was a bit loud for my liking, but it’s certainly somewhere I’d go back to!

So much choice and all super tasty

Sometimes your order are lost in their system. Then some childish excuses pops up from them and trys to explain why a very simple easy cooking costco instant noodle level food would take more than 30 minus. Some unique experience with a little bit disrespected, sometimes their rediculous explain makes you laugh. But probably won't come again.

First time I've been and wasn't disappointed.

Has the potential to be a very good place however the food is bad - even the basics. Flavourless, oily and overpriced.

Late afternoon so wasn’t majorly busy but waited almost an hour for my food then another hour after that for my friends to come. Drinks came after the food after asking twice. Understand that it’s different kiosks doing different food but an hour is excessive and when the food did arrive it tasted like it had been cooked and kept warm for a while before serving.

My daughter took me here, the food was delicious 😋, the staff were accommodating with allergies and presentation was fab. They garnished with crispy onions instead of sesame seeds.👌🏻

Food took ages but was okay. No one to tell us where to sit when we booked. Food came at all different times too.

Industrial looking building on the inside, great quality of choice, food is alright but a bit overpriced. Great for groups of friends where you all like different things.

From texting these guys to book a table, to the actual service and food, this place was top tier. We visited on Lunar New Year weekend and safe to say it was busy. Even though service was slow, it was hardly noticed. The staff managed the influx of customers calmly and expertly. Despite how busy the bar and restaurant was, we felt well looked after. The addition of a fabulous balloon artist and dragon dancers was amazing. The balloon artist went from table to table making the most wonderful Chinese dragons and lucky cats; and the dragon dance came through the restaurant, making the whole experience a real treat. The food was just perfect, every dish was enjoyed. They catered so well for myself, a Coeliac, with the option to filter gluten free on the menu. They also have a fantastic kids menu. All in all it’s an asset to Manchester and the staff are a credit to the business.

I liked the food and the place had loads of space. I would highly recommend the food but the atmosphere seemed a little gloomy. Not enough lighting or deco. We ordered on the phones (WiFi provided because I got no network with EE) and the food came out swiftly and fresh. I would definitely go again to eat and try more dishes.

Emailed them the order issue, was told would be call back but never heard from them. Ordered for a take out. The Korean chicken was fully over cooked couldn’t even chew it or swallow it as it was rubbery. The vegan noodles were hella oily & unhealthy. Overrated as the food is not tasty and £31 for this experience ain’t it. Collection wasn’t easy as staff didn’t communicate where to collect or when the order was ready as it was sat on the counter for ages.

Beautiful architecture of the place, brilliant bakery/coffee/ice cream on the ground floor, then open plan food spaces and mini market. Never been let down, they even have vegan ice cream when it's available and it's amazing

Food was lovely. Service was awful. Booked a table for 7.30pm, arrived at 7.33pm, then was shown to a table in the takeaway area of the restaurant, while there were restaurant area was on a separate floor. When we asked for a better table the server told us we were 30 minutes late and anything last 20 minutes means our table is gone very rudely, (it was 7.43pm at this point) and gave us a table at the bar. When we talked to another server and told them the situation they gave us a proper table straight away. Food and drinks did take a while to come, drinks came 20 minutes later than the food.

Only one issue. We sat on lower level. When the DJ started, the level was a bit too high for is to hear each other. Killed the chance of conversation. Everything else was great!

Amazing food and drinks, great venue and atmosphere. Staff really friendly and attentive. We went on a Saturday afternoon and ended up staying for hours! A great addition to Manchester, would definately recommend!

Outstanding food, great little Oriental Supermarket, literally covers everything you need!!

I've never felt the need to leave a review before, but after what we expirenced tonight I felt I had no other choice. Arrived at 6, seated and ordered within 10 minutes off arrival. Ordered 4 chicken dishes, with two sides and two sauces. A party of 5 arrived 15 minutes after us. First chicken dish arrived at 6.40, one side arrived 5 minutes later. We then asked kitchen staff and server staff if there was a problem, they said they would refund the meal and get everything sent out right away. The party of 5 had all recieved their meals also. At this point we were happy to stay, Come 7 oclock, no other dishes had still not arrived. About to leave, a side dish and two sauces were set down, assuming all the food was on the way, we agreed to wait. Unfortunately, nothing had arrived by 7.20, including water we had Ordered. At this point we had no other choice but to walk out. Staff seemed to care at the beginning, once they processed the refund they didn't care about the service after that. Appalling attitude from both kitchen staff and servers, 0 stars if possible.

I love it here so much, the food is so yummy letting me come regularly and the service there is amazing everyone is so nice and help you with what you need. The place looks so cute I love how it’s underground and has such a nice vibe. I will definitely be coming way more often. Thanks for the wonderful experience

Cool, casual spot for really good food. It's also got a store inside for buying Korean, Japanese etc treats. Dead smart. Get a pint and some gyōza. You won't be disappointed

The food was just meh. It wasn't great. I have had better quality food in other place. It was slightly cheaper than what is usually available in Manchester. But I wouldn't mind prefer paying if quality was good and taste better. I won't be going again.

Great atmosphere and variety, good food

The Korean wings are superb and on Monday nights it all you can eat wings for 1.5 hrs. Wanted to get some buns on the way out but the waitress was too busy. I left after waiting for 20 minutes, the waitress did apologise.

Cafe at the top. The lady always complains that the food is gonna take long to make and that she just cleaned the kitchen. It’s as if she wants to leave. This isn’t the first time that it happened. She said it to us three times, each time we came. Also ordered a coffee today, but it was served almost cold. Additionally, an uber eats driver came to pick up an order and he was handed a bag which was ripped at the bottom. He told her about it but she didn’t do anything about it. Honestly, I’m only coming here for the bingsu but might stop coming here due to the horrible customer service.

The place is really nice, has a nice vibe. The food now you have to order online after scanning the QR. So it comes out in random order which is a shame. The food is very nice and tasty. Would go back again and again.

The building was entirely accessible with a lift, the toilets were so spacious and easy to maneuver around. The food was so yummy, I got vegan black bean noodles and oat milk boba. My mum who I was with got vegan Singapore vermicelli. All the food is amazing 😍 Also got a vegan soft serve in black cone which was yummy. The supermarket has so much selection and has the buldak dumplings 😋 we'll be coming again

Nice food, ordered a side of noodles and they came out before any of the other foods “mains” that was odd and pointless. Table wasn’t clean & cutlery jar wasn’t full. Drinks were VERY VERY slow. Dj was good.

My recent visit to HelloOriental left me feeling a bit let down. I tried the Korean blackbean noodles chicken, hoping for a burst of flavor, but it fell flat. It lacked the punch I was expecting and tasted quite bland. Also, the table wasn’t as clean as I would have liked, which took away from the whole vibe. While the service was good, I hope they can spice up their dishes and amp up the cleanliness for a better dining experience next time!

Went to the opening of Hamilton at the Palace Theatre and saw on social media Hello Oriental were offering discount on food and drinks with a ticket so we went by. What a revelation, great food, great cocktails and drinks and fast efficient service. Great pre-theatre dinner before the most excellent show. We shall be back!

Jay, Fran and the team were absolutely fantastic in helping us plan a networking event for 80 people. We had buffet style food which catered to all dietary requirements which was served hot and fresh. The flavours here are amazing and it always has a great atmosphere and buzz down on the bottom floor. Would highly recommend.

Love coming here. Such a varied menu to choose from and great desserts. George made us the Baked Alaska and it was really good. The staff are so sweet and personable. Great music and vibes 10/10

The concept of the restaurant is cool, and I am sure that there is something on the menu that would please everyone. It is however a little pricy for what it is, and despite not being particularly busy when I visited, it took a long time for the drinks to be served (the food arrived very quickly, bit it took almost 30 minutes for the drinks to arrive).

I've eaten here several times and have always been really happy with the food, especially the portion sizes, they served them in these boxes and the portions were certainly generous, I would have happily rated it a 5 star.... But on our last visit I noticed they'd stopped using the boxes to serve the food, but instead they started to use these small little metal plates, effectively nearly halving the portion size from its original when served in the boxes to these rather small portions served on these little metal plates. As you'd expect when bringing this to the attention of the staff, they said it's more environmentally friendly this way - which I do agree with, but giving the customer half size portions while still charging the same and hoping they do not notice is just not on. Will I go back, I'm not sure 🤔

Visited a few months ago and the food was fresh and hot, abience was calm. Visited again tonight food arrived cold, couple of orders incorrect, crispy spicy beef like chewing leather laces so tough your jaw muscles will bonk out. Atmosphere was chaotic, busy, unclean, similar to MacDonald's on Shaftsbury Avenue at 10pm, crying babies, dirty toilets, stressed out student staff, Supermarket section a bit rough also overlypriced. I spent a lot of money here feeding four and all agreed the mains & bao buns were poor. I'm no Jay Rayner but i'm well versed in cuisine and this place is no Michael Wan's Wok Inn. Give me century egg and crispy ducks tongues anyday (and cheaper than here. Poor result tonight leaves me naming you Hell-no Oriental.

Following a fantastic in-office event, we decided to wrap up our day with a networking session at Hello Oriental, and we couldn't have been more pleased. The culinary experience was excellent, the warm hospitality of our host, Jay, and the entire staff was truly remarkable, and the ambiance was both relaxing and inviting. What's more, Hello Oriental's ideal location, ease of access, and extended hours until 12 made it a perfect choice. Thanks Jay and Team for a wonderful evening!

Hello oriental is an interesting idea. You scam and order food to your table. The plus is there is food from all over S.E. Asia to try and it was tasty. It was a bit warm in the seating area and would have been great to have more condiments on the table e.g Chilli oil, soy sauce etc.

Great food selection and supermarket

My first time here. Came for a quick bite to eat. You order online using a bar code at the table. I went over to where the chefs are and asked one of them about the halal options and he gave me a detailed explanation as to which food was halal and which food wasn't which was extremely helpful. The food portions were good. The chicken bao was nice and spicy and the prawn wraps had lots of filling. The prawn ho fun was a deceptively big portion. There's a hood variety of drinks available but you have to have jasmine's tea with a Chinese meal. My son also had the lychee mocktail. Service wise, the waitress came and gave us the wrong food, we told her we never ordered the item. Given that the order is made online, I would expect them to get this right. We also ordered rice with the lemon grass chicken but they gave us rice. There's no option to order some dishes without rice or noodles. Edit: came again last week 15.09.23. Staff were extremely helpful with regards to halal food options. They didn't have soy chicken but I was recommended the charsiu chicken which I had with roast duck. Not had this combination in a restaurant for years as there's no halal version until now.

Absolutely terrible service from rude staff. Food delivered in parts so some of our group was left waiting, others were given cold food. Staff did not care and seemed annoyed to be disturbed from their favourite past time of looking like they really didn't want to be there.

Food was edible. Didn't taste great considering the prices you pay. Decor was nice. The worst part was the service. Staff didn't seem to care that food was cold and seemed upset that we were vocal about the food quality. They almost seemed annoyed that we stopped them from chatting with other to actually do their job. I think all the current servers should be let go and new staff should be taken on, ones who have a passion for the job.

Food was great and there's a massive menu to choose from You order from a QR code and the food gets brought directly to you. I just wish all the food had been brought at the same time since we had to wait about 10 minutes between the first person was served and the last person being served

Great food, fast service, reasonable prices

It’s not very often that I take photos of food but the lady behind the counter (upstairs) created a work of art. Just ask for the Crème Brûlée bubble tea and you’ll get a sweet concoction which doubles as a thing of beauty. There are several levels to this awesome place. I’ve not been downstairs but I’ll let you know what to expect once I’ve checked it all out.

I really wanted to like this place, but I just don't. Order from a QR code based system direct to the table, from a wide variety. Dishes come out as they're ready, meaning if you've got mixed dietary restrictions, some people may have finished before others start. The food itself is mixed. The salt and pepper chicken was quite nice, good quality, but the bành mí really wasn't. Drinks took 20 minutes, and lack of floor staff meant fixing issues like missing cutlery and napkins wasn't obvious.

Food is one of the best I’ve had. Each dish packing with flavour, and the menu is great! Would definitely recommend a visit.

Really great food, I enjoy that it'd QR code because it cuts out all the faff and the service is great when the waiter comes. It's quick and you can always ask for whatever extra you want. I don't understand how people complain about that. It's very common now. The reason why I am dropping one star is that there was a DJ playing very loud music and I get they are going for this kind of cool vibe, but I shouldn't have to sacrifice my ability to speak to the person I'm with for some not very good dance music.

Not what we were expecting, thought it was going to be a mixture of different vendors (I suppose like freight Island), but it's just one kitchen. Neither of us really enjoyed our meals, felt like 50 quid down the drain. And it had a bit of a funny smell inside. Staff were friendly though.
