Lovely staff, the food is good and decently priced and they absolutely stuff the chicken fried rice to the brim of the container. Would recommend 👍

Thought I’d give it a chance since it’s been taken over and I spent £5 on salt and pepper chips and a small curry sauce and it was the worst salt and pepper chips I’ve ever had from anywhere

The food is absolutely disgusting ended up in hospital with food poisoning after having salt and pepper spare ribs nasty and fatty.WOULDNT EAT FROM HERE AGAIN IF IT WAS FREE AND TGE STAFF ARE RUDE AND JUST LAUGH IF YOU RING UP NEEDS CLOSING DOWN.

The place has really gone downhill.. Used to go here all the time when it's was Maggie.. you can honestly tell she has gone!! The food was inedible and just went straight to the bin, the staff are just so rude and disrespectful and have a can't be bothered attitude. It just doesn't have the same vibe when you used to go in and Maggie would say hello and be friendly. Really disappointed and such a shame but I will definitely be looking for a new chippy even if I have to drive out the area Wish I could give a 0 star rating I left very un happy

Absolutely lovely. Piping hot delicious beef curry for me. Pudding, chips and gravy for him indoors and a child's meal for our granddaughter. All meals finished despite generous portions. We definitely recommend and will be back, soon.

Always happy with the food from here. Sometime it's better than other times, but tastes good and excellent value for money. Recommended the crispy shredded chillie chicken dishes.

Do not order from here ,visit was the most inedible food I've ever had from a chippy ,,when I complained they weren't interested, £22,down the drain ,the chips were raw ,the fish non existent, and a dreadful taste no idea what there frying them in ,please dont waste your hard earned money!

I am always very honest with my reviews...it was very hard to stay honest with this one! The food was terrible I was charged over 20 pound and did not receive my full order, (curry on one rice and a separate large curry pot) when calling to discuss my order I was shouted at immediately saying I did not order said items, this telling me she knew her mistake and was anticipating my call and I was hung up on. All I wanted was the sauce to be able to eat my food as it would have been some what dry without it. I had to drive to an alternative chippy to get curry sauce and drinks. And forcing me to eat cold food. I will never use here again and a refund would definitely be appropriate in this situation as my order and the charged amount do not equate with online prices. Avoid these thieves.

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. It is not Maggie anymore. They’re food is absolutely disgusting. I have ordered from here for years. I knew as soon as Maggie had left in October. I rang to complain about the food and they spent the whole time laughing between the conversation and passing the phone between two people. Absolutely awfully handled. £40 worth of food has practically gone in the bin. Asked for a partial refund on the food that was inedible due to being undercooked etc and was told no. We cannot do that. This isn’t the first time I have had a problem since October but the first major problem where I have felt the need to complain. Apparently I am the first the person to complain since Maggie has left, I highly doubt that due to the sudden change in flavours and quality of food. Absolutely awful customer service and food quality.

I have been meaning to write a review for years, I love golden lake and Maggie herself so warm and friendly, she works tirelessly with her partner and produces the best food in the area and what’s more impressive is her English range is better than any other too, I usually go for the salt & pepper chicken, crispy chilli beef, noodles, rice and curry sauce, can get 4 plates for a little over £15 with prawn crackers, see you tonight Maggie. Very good Chinese food place and the best value for your money of the Chinese places in the withington/didsbury area. Amazing chicken chow mein, chicken balls, and tasty English food as well. Definitely worth trying.

Finally found a decent Chinese take away! Gorgeous food & fast delivery. Large portions & good prices. Spent a year in Manchester & this is the best Chinese I've had since being here. Will be my first choice from now on.

we visit golden lake regularly and the food is perfect ..from the simple "chippy" supper to the extensive oriental dishes something for everyone well cooked by lively staff and reasonably priced..highly recommended.

Fish £3 is cooked fresh while you wait plus large portions of chips highly recommended

Best Chinese chippy takeaway in Manchester. We always order from here and when we can't (because they're closed on Sundays) no other places are as good or as cheap. The portions are also a better size than other places we've tried. They do both Chinese and English very very well.

Lovely people, good food and great prices.... Unfortunately they forgot to batter my sausage! I had just got home from my holidays visiting Fort Ruxton and Khairas corner in wales. I was so down at having to return to England that I just needed a battered sausage to cheer me up. They forgot to do this!!!!! Now I am depressed and feel like crying. I will forgive them though because everything else was nice. Also the chairs were nice to sit on, very comfy on my bum. They also have a lucky cat that waves at you from behind the counter. I like cats, especially gold ones that wave... I also like fluffy ones and battered sausages. If only I got my battered sausage I would be awarding 5 stars here. :,(

First time trying salt and pepper chips and well banging as a bang ting , got them about 500 times since 👌🏽

Food was not to the standard that usual at, salt & pepper chicken over cooked, spare ribs sauce was really thick&lumpy. Not happy with it this time.

Hot & sour soup had a really weird taste and was basically inedible. Singapore vermicelli not particularly fresh-tasting. Salt & pepper wings were the only appetising item to be honest. Won't be ordering from here again.

Had to wait a tad later than quoted, but when the food arrived it was worth it! Steaming hot and absolutely delicious! Will deffo be ordering from here again!

Delicious, healthy, had sea food I wanted, spicy full of vegetable. Simply yummi. Desert fruit also delicious, but serving bananas made me laugh :D maybe should consider cutting in pieces O:-) got complimentary crisps it was nice

Delivered ahead of time, food was hot and smelled delicious. Upon opening you could tell it had not sat on a hot plate for half an hour before being sent out. The steamed dumplings were fantastic.

Honestly the best Chinese/chippy I've ordered from in a long time! Kids meals were fab, and the rest of the food was cooked to perfection. Arrived 25mins early and the delivery driver was great! Will definitely order again!
