My goto chippy. First time ordering won ton soup tonight- fantastic, will be ordering this all the time Always cheerful 😊 Always get what I ask for and the food I'm told is nice, if you are fond of chips this is the place, scollops and fish are very well cooked, I have never had a cause of complaint, totally recommended.

Food ok but 'Heien' seems to charge what she likes which is nothing like the prices on the menu (even with the 20p increase listed separately). Curry and chips listed at £2.50 + 20p but she wanted £4.20 🤔.

Proper chippy chips with great Chinese food. Good portions and reasonable prices. Friendly service. Definitely recommend. Cash only, just be aware.

First time I've been to this chip shop and last, first time I've thrown a whole meal away after 1 fork full, curry rice and chips. Chips bruised or black, curry a bland sauce. 1 star is for being open. Wasn't even offered a fork. They obviously buy cheapest potatoes even cooking them couldn't hide the black bruising.

Absolutely starving, myself and partner both busy came to Helen’s chip shop as we had not tried it before. Between us ordered chips chicken fried rice with an omelette on top and a carton of curry. Get home and tucking in was really annoyed to find a ridiculous amount of salt on the omelette which was disgusting as a result and destroyed the taste of the food my partner rejected it but due to being hungry I forced it down until even I wondered why I was still eating it. I’m writing this review whilst sat on loo being productive whilst regretting eating the only food I’d ate all day coming from this business Whilst also my partner enjoying complains of same loose bowel movements. Won’t chance heading here again. Especially when paying over £15 for meal can get down at other two better chip shops down on seabank road. Overall disappointing food drowned in salt and giving loose guts

Ordered a chicken sweet and sour with no onions due to allergy. After about 3 mouthfuls realised it had onions, been extremly poorly due to this negligence, have contacted them thus afternoon via sm as they are closed. Avoid if you have special requirements as no care and attention to the customers requirements

Visiting family on the wirral. Found helens what a great find, lovely food and huge portions, we even changed our plans instead of going to eat in a restaurant we ordered here. The only downside for us is that we live 180 miles away.

The pie was cold chips was OK but one of us was ill that night

1st class, generous portions, and at a great price to. We are regular customers and have NEVER!! had any issues. Probably the best chip shop on the Wirral, staff are exceptional and often go the extra mile and to top it all they serve excellent food.

Great takeaway, low price point, large portions and they give away freebies for large orders, freshly cooked.

Greasy fish & chips, not cooked well, all greasy.

You have to wait a bit of time even if you make a phone order but it's just the best!!! Still fantastic, you have to specify small chips as large is the default and large is enough easily for two people.

I get the vegan dish. Garlic and chilli tofu with a tub of noodles with fresh beansprouts onions chillies and green peppers. You can ask for what flavour tofu you want. Absolutely lovely food 😋

Food was ok, when we eventually got it. A few people in but it took over 25 minutes to get a fish and chips!

Just got to day salt And pepper chicken wings what a joke on small pice of pepper and 3 strands of onion its a joke sent it back and this is the normal acording to the driver there is more onions in the chicken curry than chicken its a disgrace takeing the piss got the lady in frount of me order wrong avoid this place its liveing on old reputation never go back

Helen, you need to chill. Your food used to be lovely, but when you are busy it is not acceptable to make telephone order people wait nearly an hour in your shop. Plus you rush the food out. Salt and pepper chips tonight tasted like yesterday's dried out, warmed up saltless and pepperless has beens from the night before. Helen, take a step back, count to 10, breathe and produce decent meals for people to enjoy. X

We all like to go out for fish and chips, but we also want the reassurance that the place is clean. The food here was perfect and abundant. It's a small shop but the atmosphere is one of trust and joy with quick service. Thank you.

Gave 1 as can’t give a 0…Telephone ordered.. was told 15mins waited a further 20mins in shop… wrapped the food without asking if wanted salt an vinegar so had to unwrap… on opening food to eat chips looked and tasted like warm ups from a few days ago Vile… the fish was bland and tasteless the bit we tasted …. The curry sauce was very runny and the peas were swimming in water and tasted like water!!! Not edible!! Only went as the reviews said was good!!! Would never go again and don’t go by good reviews as we were extremely disappointed as the food was binned… the customers in there complaining of the timings… not a good place at all.

Brilliant chippy,good portions and lovely food.

Phone ordered a lot of food, £55 worth, feeding a lot of people. It was a bit busy so waited 5 - 10 minutes in the shop. Order was spot on, not a thing missed. Won ton Noodle soup very nice, really good noodles in them which did not seem the normal instant noodles you get in soup. Mixed starter, the grown up kids were very appreciative. Daughter who never eats spicey is obsessed with their salt and pepper chips. Really liked the kung po , nice kick and very hot chillies. Chop suey very very nice , subtle and not as over salted as you can get in some places. The spring rolls you get if you order over £30 are a surprise as they are a mix of types , some vegetable some duck, the duck had a pleasant slightly spicey kick. Really liked the special chow mien. Now have an issue that we now know of two Chinese takeaways close to home we really like.

Great food in massive portions, and when they're not busy, everything works fine. When it is busy, there's chaos, with long waits and incorrect orders. A wait of an hour is not unknown, so if you want to go there, timing is everything!

Fish and chips was excellent with really generous portions. Staff were super friendly. On a par with Tsang's, which was at the same location many years ago (about 1985 !)

Nice Chippy. Never have any complaints except pies being stone cold! But they are apologetic and fix it.

This chip shop is the best chip shop I have been to so far the food is second to none and food is cheap . I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CHIP SHOP

Total waste of money. The chips were really nice i have to say but also got a free portion of salt and pepper chips (we would have ordered something other than chips if we'd known....overload of chips haha). The Chinese meals however were thrown. We know people that love this chippy so maybe it was a one off but after reading some reviews that doesn't seem to be the case. The sauces in them were all gloopy, glue like...thick, lacked in colour and most importantly flavour....the rice was nice though, just didn't eat it as no sauce. So....to summarise...we ended up having a great chip butty but that was an expensive portion of chips !!

Ocean wave is easily the best chip shop by a million miles. It's simply no contest.

Ordered fish and chips, the fish was so overcooked the batter was inedible and the fish was rock hard and inedible, chips weren't very good

Incredibly poor. There was more batter than actual fish and the chips, although plentiful didn't taste great. Glad this isn't my local takeaway.

Went here tonight for first time after a lot of recommendations. Ordered via phone order read back and price verified. Hubby collected and everything was piping hot and delish. Just a slight problem......ordered beef chow mein yup bit dry but that's personal preference. Singapore fried rice arrived as Singapore vermicelli. And my 3 meat vermicelli arrived as 3 meat noodles with chilli pieces?? BUT we got a portion of your yummy crispy spicey chips for free and everything was tasty. We will just check food before we get home next time xxx

Salt and pepper chicken wings were fantastic from there yesterday, eaten as soon as I got home. Golden and crispy, beats kfc any day for me! I also like their crispy chilli chicken, the sauce is so nice, wish they did a vegetarian version for my partner. My daughter lives their salt and pepper chips, a must have everytime she comes home for a visit. Our favourite chippy by far on the Wirral.

Ordered fish chips and a small chicken fried rice and a carton of curry, Waited 30 minutes whilst they delt with telephone orders, etc. Eventually served, got home, curry turned out to be peas. Chips re cooked at least 3 times

A great traditional Chinese/chip shop, with decent prices & good food. It's cash only, so come prepared (but there's a chargeable cash machine directly over the road as a last resort). They also don't deliver and they're not on the usual Just Eat etc, but I guess this is what helps them to keep their prices low (as their standard large meat dish - e.g. chicken in black bean - is just over a fiver, as opposed to being about £7 in some of the 'online' Chinese takeaways). The staff are friendly & polite, the portion sizes are huge (but they also have a lot of items that you can have a 'small' as well as a 'large') and the quality is great. They have a good selection of dishes & you even get free salt & pepper chips once you spend a certain amount! We've tried omlettes, ribs, sui mai, chips, black bean, curry, & burgers so far and all we're lovely. Next time we'll try some different dishes but I'm sure they'll be as enjoyable! First time visit to Helens, had hot an sour soup,delicious, salt an pepper chicken wing's ,delicious, main was duck an mushroom, chips,also delicious 😋, lovely meal,reasonable prices ,so will definitely be back, thanks to Helen,s,had our 2nd meal last night like the 1st time,a delicious got the scallops, they are so good,so looking forward to our next visit 😋

Want disgusting food? This is the place for you. Salt and pepper chips was literally a portion of chips with some chunks of raw white onion thrown on. Ribs the meat had to be ripped off the bone. Salt n pepper chicken wings, well was more like saliva an pepper, slimey and jelly like. Duck looked like it had been in a blender. Just avoid!

Absolutely amazing service as always, especially in the current state the staff always wearing masks and regularly sanitising their hands after handling money etc, there’s signs up about social distancing and wearing masks, I think it is also up to the customers to make sure they are abiding by the rules as it is hard for staff to constantly reinforce when they are so busy. The best chippy food i’ve had in the longest time, can tell the spring rolls are made by themselves and the freshest produce used!! Never let down when i get food from here always know i’m going to be greeted by the lovely girl that works there and get top quality food. Couldn’t rate the food and service any higher xx

Will now avoid this chippy like the plague, I am aware this shop has limited space but there was a queue inside with no social distancing enforced and no one being asked to wait outside. No customer was wearing any form of face protection either. Are these people and this shop immune from Covid-19? 11.11.20 will be very last time I ever attempt to buy food from here, value my life and life of others too much. SHAMEFUL & BLATANT DISREGARD OF THE REGULATIONS - I HAVE REPORTED YOU!

5 ⭐️ I’ve been to some good chippys and majority around the Wirral are bad ones! All I can say is Helen’s Chippy is the Mecca of all Chip Shops at the moment in my opinion - freshly cooked chips, Fish is cooked nicely, but the Salt n Pepper Chips well they were like out there on planet Mars THEY WERE were amazing!! Me the wife and our little furry friend thoroughly enjoyed it (who had a couple of nice sausages bye) and we got some free chips thrown in as well, nice touch Helen thank you 😊 go figure 🥳 👍🏼
