Was visiting st Andrews for October fest and saw the drunk owner shouting at students, wouldn't want to eat from there!

Very unprofessional! Drunk owner shouting at people, horrible atmosphere!

Food was nice but the service was very poor and meal expensive. Waitress took to memorising our order and preceded to get it wrong three time. Having waited thirty minutes for two coffees, we asked where they were only to find out they had forgotten. When they finally did arrive they had given us the wrong drink.

People are Lovely, but it’s so understaffed that we waited 40 min for two overpriced sandwiches. The sandwiches were very good although we were still hungry afterWouldn’t come back by choice.

Service was good until payment time. Egg missing from the club sandwich (unless it was incorporated in the chicken & spring onion mayonnaise but this wasn't how it reads on the menu). The streaky bacon, which was very unappetising, looked as if it was boiled rather fried. My waffle was very tough/reheated with only the centre edible. On payment, I mentioned how tough the waffle was and asked if it was reheated, which the guy categorically refuted. We had an Itison voucher, so the balance was £1.90 which as a gesture of goodwill I'd have thought would have been waived but it wasn't. Worth noting that a service charge is added to your bill. We won't return.

I would recommend finding somewhere else in St Andrews for a lunch. Service was very poor, we were left waiting for 20 mins before someone came to take our order. If the town had been less busy we would have walked out and gone somewhere else. Staff seemed flustered, chefs were overheard swearing at each other and the food, when it eventually came out, was below average, especially considering the price point. All in all a very disappointing experience.

Cheap looking tourist trap. Meal was bland and took an eternity to reach the table. Staff were sloppy and seemed to have one woman doing all the work. Chefs could be heard swearing from across the restaurant. Items missing from order. Overly expensive. Will not be back. Rank.

On arrival hatch is a lovely wee spot, staff were very friendly and attentive, fish finger sandwich was great, the club sandwhich however was disappointing…pre-cooked cold bacon very fatty, with pretty basic chicken mayo mix. Overall disappointing sandwhich for £12. Otherwise was nice visit.

Lovely visit to Hatch yesterday. Service was fab and food was delicious! We had the eggs Benedict and they were just mouth watering! Totally recommend for a tasty lunch

Ordered soup and salad ! 20 mins later, paid for water. There was no sign of the salad, but the soup was on the pass, cooling down every second. A waiter turned back and told the "cook/chef" " you'll need to be quicker" he didn't look concerned. He didn't even look interested. STAY AWAY

Food was alright but service quite slow and not very friendly

Amazing small brunch spot in the heart of St Andrews. Yummy mimosa's and the OG Benny with side Hash Browns was to die for. Our server Morgan was funny, responsive and friendly. Morgan helped make us feel right at home. Fantastic service!

Vegan sandwich was small in portion and expensive. I entered hungry and left hungry and 16 BSP spent. I am also not a big eater,so I would not recommend.

£21.78 for two coffees and two scones seems unbelievably expensive and we will never pay that for a scone and coffee ever again.

Is was so easy to organise a party for 16 guests there’s hardly anywhere in st.Andrews that does that with minimal fuss. They read all my emails, communication was clear and we had the place all to ourselves with a minimum spend and a deposit which worked out quite well because everyone pre-ordered and we knew before hand how much everything cost. They printed name cards and our orders behind them. Honestly they couldn’t have made any easier. The staff were kind and did so well tending to our guest Thank you so much Hatch for making a 40th birthday so special! Highly recommended!

Forgetful wait staff, dry cake and the touchscreens the staff use for orders and at the till were disgusting. I used to work in cafe and we cleaned ours at the start of every shift even before covid. These obviously hadn't been cleaned recently which is pretty gross considering the staff then hand out cutlery.

We walked the town for a place to have breakfast and decided on Hatch. We are absolutely glad we did as the breakfast was fantastic and it was cooked perfectly! The latte was delicious and the are staff extremely polite and accommodating. I definitely recommend you stopping in, even if it's just for a coffee! Definitely worth a visit 😁

Very small breakfast 1 poor quality sausage, 2 crisped rashers not bacon slices. Very small coffee. But bright & clean. (£41 for two coffees and breakfast)

I was so close to cancelling my booking after reading the awful reviews, but everything was fine. The ambiance and decor is lovely, food and drinks were good. I hope management take on board feedback to make sure the service matches their image and name.

The service was really slow and we had to wait a while for our drinks and food which was disappointing considering the seats were mostly empty. The food was tasty but bigger portions would have been nice.

Decent club sandwich. Good poached egg. Only downside was the soup which was overly blended and lacked seasoning. Overall, a great place for a quick brunch.

Expensive and tastes bad - leek and potato soup was inedible tasted burnt was gross. And soooo spenny wth. Good music and decor

Terrible toasted sandwich, overpriced,tables not wiped , no cutlery, sevice charge on already overpriced, sorry will not be back, also smallwine priced at £8 the sandwiches 1 was burnt and the other cold ,10% service, out of order

Firstly, the good points. The two waitresses were very friendly and polite, and the outdoor seating area was lovely. However, the dish I received left a lot to be desired. I ordered a smoked salmon bagel which cost £15. Realizing the high price, I reasonably assumed it would be accompanied by a salad and other accoutrements. What I received was JUST the bagel with a very small amount of smoked salmon and cream cheese. Quite frankly, this is outrageously expensive. Older reviews mention the poor portion sizes and clearly nothing has been done to address the matter, hence my review. Obviously the restaurant is a tourist trap capitalizing on the well heeled travellers. I would definitely not recommend.

I recently visited a good breakfast spot and tried their 'All Hatch' from the menu. This dish is served with haggis, bacon, baked beans, and an egg, making it quite a filling option. The ambience and cutlery were particularly attractive, adding to the overall dining experience. While it is on the expensive side, I found it worth the visit.

I went for a brunch and it was brilliant everything was good the food was delicious the service was amazing Highly recommend 👍🏼😍

Lovely ambience and LOVELY staff. I cannot fault the waiting staff who provided excellent service with smiles. However, the food leaves so much more to be desired. Disappointing taste and definitely not worth the money.

Slow service, tiny portion sizes, very expensive. the breakfast was miniscule for £15!. would not recommend.

Failure to listen to simple order request and charge for tap water! Poor

We came in for breakfast a few days after the New Year. We were their first table that morning, so it was pleasantly quiet. Coffee was excellent as were the Scottish Fling and the Smashed Avocado. The eggs were done perfectly (runny). Points off for having a vendor remove Christmas garlands/decorations inside the restaurant (above the service counter) while service was on-going (think dust & debris right above the food counter). Other than that, it was a very good experience.

We used to love this place until recently. We were seated (that is all) and then ignored for 20mins before we walked out. A couple came in after us and got served. Terrible service

Terrible value for money. I had a veggie breakfast, I was shocked at how stingy they were with the portion. One spoonful of baked beans! Half a tomato! For £14!!! The waitress did bring me more when I pointed out the size of the portion, apologised and said they usually bring more (beans). The waiter tried to cover up the very dirty table with the menus but did wipe it down when asked. The menu was also grubby. At the prices charged these issues should not be occurring. The food was tasty but at that price there should be at least toast included and a whole tomato. Service charge was added on which felt cheeky. Definitely left feeling mugged.

Great wee restaurant - they took 3 of us without a booking and one of us is in a wheelchair. Nothing was too much trouble, including the rather special needs of the wheelchair user. Service was very prompt and the food delicious.

We recently had a 2 hour private function for 46 people at Hatch immediately after our wedding ceremony. We had preordered 3 cocktail trees, a couple of buckets of beers, fruit juice and a glass of champagne and a separate cocktail for Bride and Groom. These were all on the tables ready for the guests’ arrival and staff greeted the guests as they arrived. We were delayed getting to the venue but our drinks were ready at the bar for us, being closely guarded by Jasmine, the assistant manager, who was looking after us for the evening. We had ordered 150 canapés and those were beginning to being served as we arrived and continued in waves for probably around an hour. The beef shin spring rolls and flatbread crisps were particular highlights, but all 6 types we ordered were great. The bar service was efficient and guests had said cocktails they ordered were great. Jasmine allowed us to order a meal for our photographer and portions of chips for the kids in our party which was much appreciated by all. I wouldn’t hesitate to book Hatch again for a function of this size, and want to thank them for helping us make this the best day of our lives.

Disappointing. Lovely space but the portions are tiny and way overpriced. Definitely somewhere to skip in St Andrews.

It looks lovely but the service is shocking. Waiting outside just for menus 20mins. Definitely understaffed but serving people who arrived after us is simply garbage service.

Took a long time to take out order then it took ages for order to arrive, food was tasty and staff were friendly, felt the music was a bit loud

Beautiful restaurant in St Andrew's. It was full to eat inside but they had space to eat outside. It was quite chilly but we had no choice. The food was nice. We had waffles, bacon, syrup and croissants. I personally didn't fully enjoy the waffles because it had lumps of sugar in them. I think it's a Scotland thing tbh. But the bacon and hot chocolate was good. The waiter who attended to us was lovely. Also there's a 10% service charge so you won't be surprised like us as we didn't see it when we checked the menu but it was there.

Ordered food and drink at the same time. Waiting a long time for drinks, our food arrived and we still hadn't received drinks. Apparently there had been a mix up and drinks were on the way. We finished our food and then our drinks arrived!! No plate we're cleared and we had to go up to pay and then found a service charged added on the bill!! The food was fabulous and the only reason we were prepared to pay! Unfortunately they did lose out on business as we were planning on having cocktails but chose not to incase we had to wait 45 minutes for them! Overall not a great experience!!!!

Really enjoyed the food, but shocked when got the bill to find charged £10.50 for small glass rosy and £9.50 for small glass white wine.on top of that £4.39 service charge. Bit steep.

Oh dear. Prime location in St Andrews. The town full of rich golfers and University parents. Picture Barcelona on sea. And the Hatch offering such delicacies as fish fingers and chips. After waiting over 20 minutes for the promised glass of tap water while waiting for service, we decided being treated like lepers was just plain rude and left. 3 stars for the sunshine.

We just had drinks, v enjoyable, sat inside, it's a small place and can be noisy sometimes. Good service.

Food and patio- great. Service was fast. I had to send back a cappuccino because it tasted like warm milk, they remade it and sent it back and it did taste better but still very weak. Otherwise 5 stars would have been given

Terrible value for money. Club Sandwhich came in a small brioche bap with hardly any bacon. Was basically a chicken mayo. Service very slow and had to wait for ages to get menus, to order, and to get drinks.

Excellent meal post conference. Excellent vegan options and good service. Plates possibly larger than they needed to be in a 4 course meal, but that's a pretty good problem to have to be fair. Padron peppers not pictured, roasted baby pumpkin, corn ribs and a vegan Tonka bean custard.

Great service and reasonably priced, nice chilled out atmosphere for a few drinks and the staff are great, would highly recommend

Very poor service arrived yesterday at 16.30 and by 17.15 only had 3 of the 5 drinks ordered. Last two drinks were not as ordered and the waitress glowered at us as if it was our fault. Cocktails were to die for, but due to the service we decided to leave. However it took another 11 minutes to obtain the bill then a further 12 minutes to pay the bill. Stumbled across this lovely modern café whilst in St. Andrews and the food and service was exceptional. Prices for the quality of the food was excellent and we all ended up ordering a second meal 😋

Excellent food served here. Great service and friendly staff. Will return and recommend to others.

What a hidden star! Small / medium size dishes to share. We asked the chef to put together a nice menu for us and we all liked it a lot. Nice, friendly service and really good food. Try it! To improve? Develop the winelist.

Food was ok but their prices and "value for money" is HORRENDOUS!!! Give this place a WIDE berth and avoid at all costs.

What a fabulous find!! Food and service was outstanding. The ox cheek in particular was probably one of the best I have ever tasted. I could not fault anything with any of our dishes!! Brilliant!! Keep up the fantastic work team well done!! With myself and partner both having extensive hospitality experience both front and back of house its absolutely fantastic to see the passion and dedication from the whole team!!! We will definitely be back!!

Great night at Hatch with family who all enjoyed it immensely - really nice selection of small plates - something to suit everyone and enough to share properly. Favourites were tuna carpaccio, duck and ox cheeks. Really nice atmosphere and service, we will certainly go again soon.

When we went someone, I assume the owner/manager, had to attract staffs attention to take our order - a couple of drinks. There were few,under ten, customers. After waiting about 20/25 minutes we left drink less. Staff appear to be busy and oh so cool but provide atrocious service. Shame as it’s a new establishment but it has to up its game.

We had a great lunch here. Instead of conventional main courses, they serve miniature plates that are great for sharing. The food was delicious, in particular the Ox Cheek, the Sole, and the Squash. My initial reaction looking at the menu was that the prices were quite steep, but by the time the bill came we were pleasantly surprised; it was pretty good value. The staff were friendly and the service was good. The decor is nice and modern inside, and there is some outdoor seating out front too. Highly recommend for lunch or dinner, or just drinks outside.
