Bit of a kitchen crisis? Very slow service, but staff very apologetic Food mediocre at best Disappointing

The food from the Harvester is pretty standard across the board. Like most places, prices have steadily increased over the years and are probably in line with what you'd expect for this type of restaurant. The service itself at Boldmere, is hit and miss. We have been several times and sometimes you're looked after, other times you are lest searching for staff to order, refill the salad cart, request drinks etc. The overall atmosphere is standard. This place is great if you have an offer or voucher to use, but would probably not come on a weekend when things are usually full price and busier.

Went to Harvester tonight , 6 adults 2 children, for birthday meal , however they refused to honour the blue light for NHS workers, even though you can use card for up to 6 people, their excuse been well you booked for 8 !!! No one asked for discount on 8 , it was diabolical, so out of principle we left ! Ben the manager was unhelpful, and certainly not a Customer Service person at all ! To top it all , 42 pound for drinks consisting of 1 bottle of Wine , 1 soda water and 3 cokes , still charged for the bottomless coke , even though only 1 glass and a J2O and 1 cocktail ! Disgraceful ! So someone who works for NHS , worked today long day , who's birthday it was ended up upset, embarrassed and had her evening spoilt!

Best Harvester I've been to, food was amazing. Every meal that came out of their kitchen for us was perfectly cooked. Will definitely go back.

We have just got back from Boldmere Harvester and had a lovely meal, they accommodated 12 of us at short notice 😊 Kirsty was fab and went out her way to make sure we had a great time, thanks!!

Unfortunately today (8/3/25) we've had terrible service whilst visiting. Upon arrival family members were already there, wasn't offered a drink. The 2nd lot of family members turned up and we still had to wait around 10/15 maybe even 20 minutes before we were offered a drink. By this time we were ready to order food as well, I thought the salad bar was meant to topped up all the time? Numerous items empty and no butter for the bread! Food came in a reasonable timeframe. After finishing the food it took an absolute eternity to clear the plates of food, the waitress walked past numerous times, even looked in the direction of the table but for whatever reason wouldn't take the plates. In this time we still hadn't ordered the child's pudding, I had to ask a separate member of staff and also ask her to clear the plates as well. We eventually got the pudding, we asked for the bill and funny enough it was the quickest thing that happened all night until it came to paying the bill, we had to eventually go upto the desk to pay for the bill. Awful service today, not pleased at all.

I enjoyed a delightful Sunday dinner with friends, creating memories and savouring great conversations.

My family took me here for my 60 th birthday,we booked a table for 5.30 pm we were seated straight away ,but there was a chair missing ,we waited but no one came back with a chair ,so we went and found one. . Then no one brought us menus or offered us drinks ! We finally ordered food just before 6 pm ,but by 6 .45 pm we were still waiting for our food , we asked how long and were told it was been plated up , it finally came at 7 .15 ,but our food came out bit by bit ! So my daughter was last to get hers ,I had finished mine ! My grandchildren had school the next day and so they had to leave while we finished eating,not ideal . No apologies from any staff but did reduce our bill ,not sure I want to come back !

Went there for lunch for two today. Booked table for 1:30. Stood at front waiting to he greeted or seated or anything. Nobody showed up for 15 minutes so went elsewhere. Great job.

We went this for my mums birthday, we had a table of 18 people, the young lady who waited our table was excellent, there’s was a few minor hiccups but we’re sorted out straight away, thanks for a lovely evening

Me and my wife only have the salad bowl (it's just a paid version of the free salad bowl, but a bigger bowl). We were booked to eat at 17:15 on Saturday evening, the place was not busy. Where went up to the salad area there were, already, some items blocked off. So I had the last bit of beetroot (on one side of the bar, and managed to scrape out the last few pieces of herby pasta. There was no grated carrot. I asked a server if any more pasta was available and got a very sharp 'no'. I then (after stewing on this for a moment or two) asked the same question to the duty manager who said she would look into it. I went back before we left and still no replacement pasta. The only other pasta option was covered in pesto, not to everyone's liking (definitely not for me). I know Harvester will claim that they had issues with supplies but that really doesn't wash with me. How difficult is it for their 'chefs' to boil up some pasta and make the dish?

Extremely disappointed. We were celebrating our sons birthday, he recommended the harvester in boldmere. We arrived at 6.30pm on 20th February 2025. Not much of a starter menu but we chose what we could. We waited a while for our first course , we finally got them and the breaded mushrooms were still frozen, sent them back which delayed everyone getting their second course. The mains arrived they were not hot but edible just about except my son's chicken was not cooked in the middle it was still pink.my other son who's birthday it was also ordered chips

We often come here for breakfast. It's always spot on with great service. Good food for kids too!

Three meals no starter no dessert very pricey...and the salad coleslaw was off and smelt putrid.

Me and my son's had a lovely meal at harvester and it was my son's birthday so he had a free meal for his birthday, the staff are very friendly good welcome, and we will be definitely going back, it's delicious 😋😋

Thank you for a pleasant experience, the meal was excellent, if you haven’t tried the garlic sauce this is worth having! The service we received from Gwen was very personable and down to earth. A credit to the restaurant.

A perfect place for a great meal! The dishes were flavorful and beautifully plated, the staff was welcoming, and the setting was just right for a relaxed evening.

I absolutely loved eating here during my visit to Birmingham. The food was really good, only downside was that service took a while. The food was tasty, and portions were more than enough. We were in twice for dinner and breakfast and wasn’t disappointed at any point. Ambience was good but it was quite busy at dinner time on Friday, which is expected. Pre-booking is advised at peak times. I particularly loved the pork belly, it was perfect. Also appreciated the salad bar, it’s a nice touch.

I attended the Harvester with my 3 year old daughter.I had to wait over 10 minutes for a table and this was at 15.30.Staff weren't busy just chatting behind the bar.I had to ask the waitress for the free cryons that she is usually given.We were given a small table by the door not enough room for a pushchair.It was the 28th January so the £8 chicken Tuesday offer was on this was not pointed out to me.I was charged the full price for the signature half rotisserie chicken

Severely short staffed in the bar. Every time I went to the bar for drinks they had no appropriate glasses for required drinks. No one collected any empty glasses from the room we were in . I visited the ladies toilet on 2 occasions throughout the evening and neither toilet had any toilet paper available . I won’t be rushing to visit this pub again 😒

Loved the look of the Harvester today, we hadn't been for some years. Lovely new waitress called Gwen who made us feel very welcome. She was attentive without being overbearing. She was very proficient given how new she was. Food was lovely as ever, but the person plating up our food forgot my husband's peas. He just let it go by. Only other gripe was there was no toilet paper in the Ladies at all, and no one really to tell. Overall we enjoyed our visit.

I booked a table here last night for my wife's birthday party of 4 I must say it was absolutely horrendous , we got there for 7:15pm we placed our drink orders around 7: 20 pm 40 minutes later I had to walk up to the bar at 8pm to find out where our drinks was there was nobody serving at the bar but I noticed our drinks was just sat on a drinks plate on the bar so.i got them and brought them over to our table they was sat there that long the ice had melted , around 8 : 15 pm a young black waitress ( forgive me don't know her name ) look like she did not even want to be there, asked us if want we wanted to order when we placed Our order she turned around and said we couldn't order that because there was no food in stock which after nearly 1 hour sat there so i asked to see the manager ( Ben I think) he came over and said we can order the food we wanted so we did in the meantime they gave us 4 bowls so we could get some salad , wow what can I say it was horrendously shocking I will.put video up of what I seen (sauce area) we came back to our table food (3 plates of trio of chicken) arrived very quickly we was surprised, so we got stuck into it next thing you know I felt a weird sensation in my mouth I spat the food out into a tissue and it was raw chicken 3 plates of raw chicken breast 9 breast in total I got up and seen the manager (ben) I asked him could he come over to the table as we have been served raw chicken he quickly came over and acknowledged the the chicken was raw in the middle in all the pieces of chicken breast (9 in total ) he did apologise but he was very reluctant to apologise but he did , he asked do we want anything else we all declined the 4 of us, we came back home and I got up through the night and I was literally vomiting 🤢 I have called my doctor surgery this morning to get an appointment if I find out from the doctor that I have food poisoning from the chicken that I had eaten before I noticed it was raw I am going seek legal advice for compensation because the service you provided and the experience that we had in your restaurant and the food that you served is absolutely unforgivable you literally can kill people with the raw chicken you served I did notice Ben (manager) I think call 1 of the chef out of the kitchen and he must of had a word with him , the biggest regret that I have was not getting video footage of the raw food that we was served as I did record the sauce area ( disgusting) as I was appauled ,....once again thankyou for ruining my wife birthday meal I will not be back again and if the raw chicken that I did eat before I realised it was raw has anything to do with the vomiting I had most of the night and this morning as I have even writing this review I will be seeking legal advice for compensation.... I would advise the people who own the harvester to employ people who want to work with a smile because if I'm honest no one person who was serving us including Ben look like they did not want to be there ......

Disappointed that the GM lied to us when being seated, saying the only available table was the table by the front door which is notoriously cold and draughty! Said it was that table or a table in the bar as all the tables were full. Miraculously found an alternative table when challenged, incidentally there were at least 4 empty tables in the restaurant when we went through. The meal and service was good apart from this. Note of reply: we were 10 minutes late not 15, and this was due to temporary lights on Clifton Road that we were unaware of.

Me and my mother came to the restaurant last night and it was a warm friendly atmosphere, great food and a the staff were all brilliant. Our server was called Joe, he was a very nice young man and made us feel very welcome. Our chefs was luke and stuart who are great cooks, i managed to get the names of rachel & meg😁.We will 100% be visiting again so until then keep up the great work guys👍

Service is shocking. No staff on bar, myself and another couple had to find someone. Pub freezing cold. Pub quiet. Please sort your service out. Rude female on bar, saying there's no napkins on your table due to it being a bar table. Yes I understand this Phoebe but all your table boxes are empty, with no napkins in. Had to collect own knife and forks. Then the young lady stood behind bar laughing. Unacceptable!!!! Food may ibsay is great. Shame it's let down with front of house staff.

Young chap welcomed us showed us to a table , young girl took our order my freind asked for different rolls and some pineapple waitress sorted both out for her , meal was hot and very nice salad bowl was plentyful

We booked a table for nearly 50 of us and from the moment we booked right to the point of leaving the restaurant on the evening, the service we recieved was exceptional. Megan was so professional, helpful and so patient with everyone. She is an absolute joy and harvester and M&B should be very proud to have her working for you. The food was delicious so compliments to the chef. Also the supervisior kelly was amazing and her and Megan work fantastic as a team together. I highly recommend harvester and will definitely be arranging another big group booking for next Christmas. Massive thank you and happy birthday to Megan u are wonderful

The staff are friendly, polite and attentive. Food needs improvement. The hamburgers are very delicious and the fish steak is also good ，but 2 of the 3 steaks were burnt, bitter, too dry, chewy and unseasoned, a waste of a wonderful place and 100 point staff

Really lovely morning having breakfast with Santa - The staff were great very enthusiastic with the kids and patient and quick to serve the food and in the Christmas spirit, helping to chat about santa with my son, which on its own was a great morning anyway but also having a Santa experience for no extra cost was brilliant. It was a whole lovely Christmassy experience with a Mrs Santa as well who was great she came chatted with the kids ask them about Christmas and then took us round to a lovely little grotto with a very authentic santa. They both had plenty of time for us, to ask questions take pictures etc. Bloody brilliant! Have been telling everyone they need to go

Rachael our waitress was absolutely amazing, professional friendly and very knowledgeable we couldn’t have asked for better service. Food came promptly and looked very appealing. It was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit

Always nice and clean. Had to move tables as we were in front of the door and it was cold every time it opened. Waitress cleared another table for us which was great but not sure she was in the best of moods. Always have to remember to ask for the chips not to be pre salted. I think it may be wise to ask the customer if they would like their chips pre salted as not everyone likes salt and although it may say seasoned chips on the menu (can’t actually remember) the first time we had them with our meal (when we were unaware) they came very salty indeed and my husband who has a brain injury cant eat salted food so was a waste.

I was totally disgusted and totally confused as to why we were turned away from the Harvester restaurant. 2 adults and 3 children. arrived at 11:38am. on 17/08/17 for family lunch before going cinema. Was greeted by a female middle-aged member of staff with glasses. we asked for a table for five. She first asked if we were there for breakfast or lunch? We replied Lunch as we knew we were too late for breakfast. She replied that we were running a bit behind today and asked us to come back in 25 min. Told us to go shopping. Well, 1st off, we didn't want to go shopping. 2nd go shopping were. Boldmere aint exactly the Bullring, is it... We started to leave when she said she would sort us a table right by the main door. I said I didn't want a table by the door because of the draft and cigarette smoke / smell. She replied, "You dont get a draft anymore as the door opens sideways now?? She seemed very put out that I refused that table. I didn't like her attitude, and her customer care needs improving a lot. I told her we would leave it and not return. Surely we could have sat down inside or even outside in the garden seating area, It wasn't that busy. We could have ordered a had a drink and waited the 25 minutes, instead we were sent away to do some shopping. so we took our business elsewhere message to management, your staff need more training & you need to be held responsible for your stuff actions. Turning Away paying customers and guests is not going to earn your business a profit, in future I'll start looking elsewhere before considering revisiting the Harvester Visited again in November 2024. Food was very good, and service was also a massive improvement from previous visits. There has been a big refurbishment. We did have a small issue with a very dirty glass that had lipstick on the rim, and when complained, it was changed but offered nothing else as a way of an apology. The price for food has increased. My steak in my mixed grill. Was very fatty. A child broke a bowl at the salade area which was left there on the floor for 1 & half until it was cleaned up. Male toilets are still disgusting with a urinal leaking all over the floor

Quiet today but good ok. No butter for my bread roll but that wasn’t really an issue. Food was good - good portions and served quickly.

Topping on my friend's burger was cold and my fully loaded chips also was cold ,seems the food sat while the steak was resting, waitress tried denying the burger topping was cold even though I watched my friend feel it all over and he look disappointed ,only gave 2 stars because the steak was cooked OK medium how I asked.

Service on our visit was excellent, just popped in for a quick lunch, so only wanted a basic meal. Scampi & chips & chicken flatbread & chips. Both cooked very well, just right. Salad bar was ok too, though the bread rolls didn't seem very fresh, hard & bland tasting. Good range of drinks. Would visit again if passing and wanted something to tide us over until tea.

Enjoyable experience. Food is overpriced and just standard but salad bar makes up for it and unlimited drinks. Nice choices for vegetarians.

Booked a table for 12 people two weeks before . When I got there no table had been allocated. Given th choice of a long one or separate tables on a raised area. Menus left in a pile at end of table. Came to take food order before drinks. No menus brought back for sweets. Waited an hour as it was a reunion. But then one of the guests had to get up and find a waitress . No one came to ask if we needed more drinks . Had to search for some one for the bill . Brought to us before I had a chance to present a voucher for a percentage of bill. Not be using again for our annual reunion

We have enjoyed a harvester breakfast after walking in Sutton Park. There are lots of alternatives that we could go to but the food at boldmere is quality that is freshly cooked to order. Rachael served us with a smile and ensured everything was spot on, thank you.
