The marina itself is a lovely place but we went for a meal arriving late and in the dark and wet. We saw the signs for parking backing onto what was clearly a car park but spaces outside the restaurants which typically looked like places you find across the UK that allow either free parking or parking with paying at meters. If you drive right to the end it is dark and where we parked saw no signs. However if we did and realised we had to pay we wouldnt have been able to as we did not have phones...Long journey my phone was in the hotel charging...Had a lovely meal was there just over an hour...Following day a local business told me about the parking and hubby walked over and dialled the number to talk to someone but number kept on directing back to his tesco account so ended up paying £60 as previous posts suggests it is a waste of time appealing. System clearly works against the aged who are unlikely to use online systems and want the additional charges..Why there are not clear signs as you enter the area which make it clear the whole area is fee paying beggars belief but then profit wont be made by charging low carparking fees. Meal was excellent as we would visit again the restaurant but not pay for profit of this 'explotive' company.....Carpark at Travellodge is free

Underrated and a little bit unloved, so much potential here. A sunny Saturday afternoon on a Bank Holiday weekend and it's virtually dead! A little bit of tarting up on the way in (around 'The Highlight') and it could be so much easier on the eye. We had a great time, easy little walk around, ice cream and no crowds!

Great place for a visit, unfortunately the car park is privately owned now and if you don't download an App they make it impossible to pay for a ticket and they fine you. Recommend parking away from the marina, ample parking opposite and walking along the full-length of the marina.

Hartlepool Marina is beautiful, well worth a visit; even if you only visit the once. There are plenty of bars, restaurants, coffee shops, etc, to enjoy a drink in. When you enter the marina with your vehicle, you are on camera, and you're given 15 minutes to drive in / around before you have to pay for parking. Parking is cashless. You must scan a QR code to go to a website and pay by card. If you're not familiar with this kind of technology you're probably going to struggle to park, in that instance I suggest you park elsewhere and walk to the marina. On a sunny day it's beautiful and you are treated to some history of Hartlepool when you visit! The council should hang their heads in shame at the empty plots - its clear local businesses aren't supported enough by the council, I'm sad to see empty plots. Maybe the council don't like tourism, however if you're prepared to pay the parking charge the marina truly is beautiful. It's also good for a night out and can get very busy over the weekend.

Loved our town and Marina neve again will I visit marina paid for parking for 3 hours this would have been enough time however we were 3 hours 20 mins received a parking fine for over staying so now required whole amount of £60 we were on holiday when letter arrived so it was now up to £100 appealed and appealed so in the end paid this amount !!! The marina is a mess!!!!! We will never return! To a place we often visited twice weekly as some lovely restaurants but the parking has killed the marina is there a law about that can stop these fraudsters just applying money to people ?? I know it’s not a fine as only the council and police can issue a fine ? These money making scams are only a notice ? But trying to get through to anybody is a nightmare and they just put your notice further up in price.. This really needs to be stopped before our beautiful marina is closed down completely as nobody goes any more to support the lovely restaurants Hartlepool council will be pleased when it’s all derelict like the rest of Hartlepool

Ridiculous parking experience. Cameras all over but machines not in use. Advising to download the app to pay for parking. Not reasonable if you don't have a mobile phone. Added to this is you only get 15 mins free parking or the private company will be sending you a £60 fine. Businesses must be suffering from this ridiculous situation. Council needs to get a grip on these sharks who might as well be wearing robbers masks . Unacceptable on all levels 😤

Usually you associate marinas with upmarket shops and restaurants. Hartlepool Marina bucks the trend with a dishevelled dirty tired array of bars and restaurants. Many not open, some open with minimal clients or none at all. All hiding behind musty shop fronts offering a glimpse of decline. All displaying repetitive menus with limited imagination. We arrived, and left. Given that the Hartlepool electorate disgraced themselves by electing a Tory as their MP and praised the government for giving them multiple food banks, it's not surprising that the marina is indicative of the decline of our nation under Tory corruption and incompetence. What should be a magnet for social enjoyment is now nothing more than a perfect example of social entropy. Don't bother going unless you need to berth your boat, and if you can afford a boat why would you come here.

Old Review - found in drafts Disappointingly this place is now permanently closed. First time in today, despite living a ten minute walk away. Food was absolutely excellent, being delicious and also well priced. Service was fabulous, the young lady who welcomed and served us was very friendly and helpful in a very welcoming manner. Nice to see such excellent customer service. It was very quiet, but it is a Tuesday afternoon so not really disappointed by that as it was mostly expected. Would have been a definite and easy five stars for me except it was lacking in any choice of beers or ale. Had to settle for John Smith's, but would have been amazing if there were a few bottled or canned beers to tempt me. Overall though it was a great experience and I will definitely be returning very soon. Highlight had to be the potato skins ... Delicious.
