Harry's Golden Chippy in Gateshead

Have just been and bought the simplest of items chips and curry and chips and gravy absolutely awful went in the bin half cooked chips what can i say about both sauces one lump or two i would have taken them back but as i had to wait till they had finished watching stuff on their phones i really could not be bothered

I've used this chip shop for 4 years and has always been lovely until tonight kebab wrap arrived freezing cold and tasted like it was days old fish large but very few chips. Very disappointed and won't be back for a while.

Over an hour late is ridiculous without any contact

The order placed was not what I ordered . How can anyone fast food deliver mess up a chicken kebab with cat or dog food . Pitta bread solid chips burnt and cold . But hey they nearly got it right by putting a lid on the garlic sauce .

We were worried because it said the food was out for delivery 40 mins before it was due, and still wasn't here after half an hour from the notification. So we rang the restaurant and the customer service was excellent (very friendly), we were told it would be with us in 5 mins. In exactly 5 minutes, the food was here and it was hot and very good, we will definitely order from here again

Second time ordering. Both times were perfect! Have had the jumbo cod (really is jumbo) and now the chicken kebab wrap which was huge & so good. Great value, big portions & on time on both occasions - highly recommend!

Great as usual. However when you rang me saying there was no more sprite and gave me all the other options like Fanta lemon and irn Bru, I was suprised. You should add all those to the just eat menu! Would be nice for more choice on drinks and also more big bottle drinks apart from coke. Just a suggestion. But great food and service though!

Ordered the Kebab Geordie Delight but it didnt seem to have any kick to it at all, not sure if the Chilli was missed off? If not it might be a suggestion to make it a lot spicier! Food quality though was great

Note to the restaurant, when someone orders large sauce and pays for it don’t give them a small one. That wasn’t nice. The food is good though

Too much batter on fish. Fish to me not good quality as the first time. Chips did not seem fresh.

Took an hour and a half to receive two items from a restaurant that is probably a five minute walk away from my house, on a Wednesday afternoon. Shouldn’t take that long. Cheesy chips were barely warm and the cheese wasn’t even melted in places, and the spam fritter was hot but definitely over done. Usually love this restaurant , so it’s a shame but it’s not how it used to be years ago.

Food was an hour early always a bonus when your starving... especially 10 o’clock on a Friday night. I was a bit wary of ordering from here due to other reviews but I’m so glad I did. I only ordered jumbo sausage chips and curry but it was unreal. Proper chippy chips and was absolutely covered in curry. My bottle of pop was also freezing cold too, nothing worse than getting a warm one. Will deffo be ordering from here again

I got cod and chips the fish was lovely... The chips were absolutely minging they like they were a week old. Very disappointing.

All food was cold and looked like it had been reheated.

Pizza yuk tomatoe puree base like something you make with 5 year old very unpleasant

Fish was cold In the middle & the bread buns where stale they fell Apart

The pizzas were salty and the base was disgusting not even cooked properly

Living abroad most of the year it was nice to come home and find a great fish and chip shop just down the street. I passed by one night and just ordered fish and chips. The fish was red hot, crisp and lovely and the chips were fabulous. Highly recommended.

I have been using this place for years but I am so sick of the horrendous customer service! I have just rang to make an order and he hung up on me. This isn't the first time. If they are busy they will not answer the phone for ages. They have been incredibly rude to me on the phone, once he actually laughed at me! I have had wrong orders and mix-ups. The food is nice when you can actually order it. They are so rude though. I won't be going again.

Was ok but the last two visits orders wrong twice garlic sauce instead of gravy also today no cheese on cheeseburger

Been coming here for many many years would always recommend this takeaway to everyone! but not now , bones in fish ! 2 decent size ones as well unbelievable to be honest as the fish is lovely normally but now never going to go back to harrys for any food now! especially when someone gets the fish who has swallowing problems because of a condition.. put us off for life! thought they were meant to be skinless and boneless .

I can't really say a lot of good thigs about this place, other than that the food was quite nice. It took 45 minutes for my meal to be ready, when I only ordered 2x Fish n Chips and Chicken Bites. If the service was quicker and more high quality, I would be going more often.

Harry's Golden Chippy is always golden. The staff are lovely, and the food is the best in the area. Will order again and again.

Asked for no ham on Kiev it arrived and had ham on, pepperoni pizza was burnt I don't months odd mistake but when it happens all the time and ya paying nearly £20 a time just not on

Ordered 7.20 got a call at 8.05 to say they hadn't got chicken I asked why it took 40 mins to tell us al our meal was due now anyway ordered something else the food was at best ok garlic bread with cheese had a tiny sprinkle of cheese and was really hard chewy and tasteless unlike harries pizzas as usually lovely so was a tad disappointed chips were beautiful though kebab meat cold will order again see how it tastes could just be was busy with it being bank holiday

Great kebabs and pizzas from here the chilli is the best I have tried friendly staff only once had a bad experience and after phoning to speak with the manager he put the problem right down to the potatoes they had go in

Absolutely gorgeous salad on chicken wrap fresh and tasty, kebab butty was more than enough for one person and the fish bites were lovely batter crispy just how we like it definitely order again

Didnt arrive... disgusting service! Called twice to be told the driver had just left (both times) 1 hour later still no food to which i phoned back to find they knew nothing about my order! Basically lied to TWICE on the phone amd not even a sorry from the driver when it arrived an hour and a half after promised BURNT!!!

They claim to be able to supply vegetarian food but can't. Veggie Burgers mixed in with beef burgers and pizza spatula used for chicken and only one pizza cutter. Might be meat free but it isn't vegetarian.

Burnt scampi Southern fried chicken cooked in deep fryer Coke instead of sprite 20 mins later than just eat confirmed time of delivery means I waited 1hour 30 for delivery from a chip shop 0.7miles from house or 4 streets away. Instead of the place being called harry should be called scoundrels
