Order ahead for fish etc as cook to order

Very expensive now for diabolical food. Hard chips. Kebab meat tastes a bit stale. The fish is no way fresh as it has a strange taste like it's been frozen for months on end before being defrosted to fry. 🤦🏻 Oh how this chippy has gone right down hill. The owners are not that friendly either. Miserable people. 🤷🏼

Lad who served us only did half the order, then grumbled we only asked for 1 not 2, didn't give us our change, reeked of green, and gave us the scabbiest rock hard chips I've ever seen.

Kebab scraps with chips they were very dry and hard in my opinion carl gills have went right back

Had a delivery of a small kebab with chips...a chicken portion and tray of salad...came to 15.60...but the small kebab would of served 3 at a push it was massive and worth the money ...everything tasted lovely nd was hot when delivered and the waiting time of an hour was reasonable esp on a weekend night...and the girl who answered the phone was polite and helpful as was the delivery driver...overall a fab service and good food.

Far far over priced and you could use the kebab for rubber for car tyres and the chips for for a hammer head they were that hard the few I got mind don't go there go round to robs fair priced and the food is way better in my opinion disgrace for what you pay

Rude staff for one, Ordered a kebab wrap from here and I am absolutely disgusted,wrap was stale an my autistic child had a melt down over how hard the chips were, I fed it to the dog an even he turned his nose up not even to mention the garlic which was more like watery mayonnaise, Will not be coming back, I AM RAGING!!!!

I went to your shop today for fish n chips and gravy and I was disappointed. The chips were not up to standard the fish looked grey inside when I opened up the batter and the peas looked watery. But would I return to this shop I would not return to be honest with you It has changed over the years. There was not enough potato in the chips.

Always my goto fish and chip place. Make a great kebab as well.

I have ordered from carl gills for months and the last few takeaways have been awful I just ordered a kebab and chips in a bun kids meal it's was that soaked with Greece that you couldn't even taste the food the paper was soaked through all layers of paper and the paper was stuck to my food there was puddles of Greece on It I rang to ask if they could replace it and apparently they can't even though I got a delivery they wanted me to travel down feeling for my money back I don't want my money back its 9pm at night I wanted to eat my food The people on the phone tried to say they drained the Greece but they hadn't.no help what so ever.. I have never known of a takeaway bit replacing you meal.

Excellent food and delivery time was very fast. A great experience, please note when ordering through just eat the delivery charge is 3.50. If you order through gills own website its only 2.00.

Huge bag of chips, but the fish n cheese savoury all tasted weird, could be the oil used. Also when I unpacked my can of coke was missing

I placed an order and they forgot my garlic i phoned them up and they said they would send the driver down with it. I'm still waiting there usually spot on. Could of offered me my money back if they werent coming back wif it or even a free garlic next order

Rude staff!! Ordered plain chicken burger and chips they didn't send the chips as I asked for a plain chicken burger?? I asked for them to deliver chips they couldn't so I paid £4.95 for a plain chicken burger rip off

Normally our go to restaurant. Ordered on Just Eat and waited well over an hour for the restaurant to even acknowledge our order. We tried calling an unbelievably amount of times to cancel our order as we had waited long enough with no success via the app. I was just about to leave to go to the restaurant and get them to cancel our order so we can get our money back and before I did they cancelled the order. They have also gone off just eat and still aren't answering the phone. Good quality service 👌 Just checked that on their Facebook profile they are closed on New Year's Day... However the key places that people check like Just Eat/Google etc. Had not changed... REPLY TO OWNER - Although I understand you try to defend the restaurant, I don't appreciate you talking to me with a lack of respect. Maybe you should focus on your customer service skills as a priority then your restaurant might improve a bit. The money came out of my bank, I can show you evidence if you wish. I can also show you the chat I had with Just Eat to try and cancel our order... Do me a favour next time, don't think everyone is trying to catch you out, your restaurant isn't anything that special where people will go out of their way to catch you out pal. Cheers

Tried ordering food despite closing at 1030 they said fryers were off and they had deliveries to go out so couldn't get any food. Great service 😡

Absoulty shocking what this chip shop has Done. They have getting rid of just eat which is fair enough but up their prices drastically. Won't be buying from here again. Better else where.

Clearly lacking common sense, ordered 2 x chip butties. Came wrapped in paper. Chip butties were smashed and curry sauce all over the paper. The meal was a mess and a waste of time. Maybe it's just me but the easy option is to place in a foam container like every other chippy????

First of all we ordered a kids chicken nuggets and chips, chicken tikka wrap, mushy peas and garlic bread. We got a waiting time of 2 hours! Even then it was still late! The food got here and it was all cold. The mushy peas looked disgusting, the garlic bread was like cardboard, chips were barely cooked. Waste of £15, never going here again.

Went to get some chips and got given bland chips with no batter after I specifically asked for batter I am very upset, usually is a brilliant chip shop

burnt chips everytime ,either they have been reheated or cooked on a very high temperature,my dog turned its nose up at them and he eats anything,the owner needs to go on a cookery course or get someone who knows how to cook chips,also its the dearest fishshop around,i would sooner eat robs chips as they are not burnt and 40p cheaper.BRING BACK CARL

2 kebabs absolutely disgusting come here for years and that’s the finish now won’t ever go back full kebabs straight in the bin

Chips tasted under-cooked and very soggy. No bite to them unless you like a wet chip.

Kebab was thin dry stail, chips tasted like they were left for a week, use to enjoy food from here but never again after that wouldn't feed it to a dog don't know how they can charge so much for something so horrible!

Obviousley employ people who cant read to deliver leaflets, my door has "NO LEAFLETS, NO MENU'S ADDRESSED MAIL ONLY" but the clown still shoves it through my letter box, glad I dont used the rip off merchants now!

Absolutely disgusting got sausage and chips and you honestly couldn't eat the chips they were that hard/re heated , it gives other gills chippys a bad name disgusting

I have previously sampled other chip shop food within this area and I have found this is second to none! The bolognese pizza is in a league of its own but the owners private recipe on their chilli sauce is a whole different level. I have never experienced customer service nor quality of food like I have here. I would definitely recommend there take away.
