Most chippys now provide huge quantity at the expense of quality, but not here. Beautiful fish and chips and portions that by far outweigh your appetite.

The food is great, always fresh and well prepped. Lady on the preparation is very abrupt and rude, gave me attitude as I said singularly what I wanted ie. 3 fish and 2 chips - she abruptly corrected me saying so 2 fish and chips and just a fish - whilst this doesn’t sound bad and just reaffirmation, I can assure you this wasn’t that and it was abrupt and a rude way of correcting me as the person taking the order had understood. I’ve not only left feeling shouted at, but I’m also a fish down as she only prepared 2, despite correcting me. The gentleman preparing the fish and the young lady taking the orders did well, it’s just the lady preparing the orders - I’m really taken aback with something that was a none issue which turned into an issue.

Coming back up north for a visit after living in Plymouth for 50 years, one thing I was looking forward to was northern fish and chips. This place certainly hit the spot and took me to my childhood, without the newspaper wrapping, though. A big plus is the price. Down in Plymouth it's almost £17 for one portion of fish and chips, at just £8 here it's a bargain. We will certainly pop in on our next visit to the wild North!

Great fish and chips, small chippy with basic old style limited menu, worth a visit if you're passing by good portions, prices are fair some may say a little expensive but it's a small business so £8 for a good piece of fish and chips and get some batter bits or scraps as known by many put on your order. Would give it 5 rating but you never know when something better comes along. Anyways give it a go well worth it.

Really good fish and chips from here. Never had an issue. The batter is a little crispy and soft. Not a chewy batter. Light enough to feel not too greasy for a fish and chips. The battered sausage is good and so are the sauces. Quick service too, just remember to tell the fryer if you want anything big before you get to the person at the till. This includes scallops, battered sausage, sausage, fish. Anything but chips really. Decent price for fish and chips these days, especially for the size of the fish you get. It's only a take out spot. Parking around it can be a bit tricky.

Gone downhill majorly will not return the last 3 visits, been a letdown

Wasn't impressed. I had a 'fish butty' and my other half had fish and chips. My 'butty was a disaster. It was so soggy it disintegrated. The chips were hard, not sure if they had been warmed up or just over cooked. It's not a place I'd hurry back to.

My first ever visit, after seeing a review on The Great Guide to food in the Area. And it doesn't disappoint. £5.95 for a fish butty, DOUBLE the size of most. How is Harry even making a profit I thought. A lovely, typical Huddersfield welcome, just up the road, from me, in Milnsbridge. Definitely worth a visit, if you use Manchester Road. Poor atmosphere and abrupt staff! Food quality was very poor the chips were extremely crispy and unpleasant. The fish batter was soggy and the whole meal was extremely greasy. I didn’t enjoy it and unfortunately will not be returning.

Decent traditional chippy. Almost always great fish & chips. I stick to chips, my hubby has fish & chips.

Awful chips taste like refried chip's, fish batter was soggy.

Went in for a bag of chips and the portion size was not enough to feed a bird and cost £2.50. Needless to say Harry's will be getting a wide birth from me from now on.

Very disappointed with our visit tonight.Chips were hard as though they had been re cooked,the batter was soggy not crisp,but the fish was nice and fresh and flakey.will not be returning.

Best fish & chips in the local area, chips are delicious can't get any better. Portion size is more than enough leaves me full and content, curry sauce is the best I've ever had. Is expensive but the quality makes up for it. I won't go anywhere else for my fish and chips 😋

Went in for 2 fish within minutes they were done when I got home the uncooked batter was stuck to the wrapping paper and it was disgusting. Put me off going back.

You get a decent sized portion of 'fish' (don't mind which unspecified species...if the flesh isn't too dark). You may notice a white, sticky glutinous matter inside. This may simply be uncooked battermix (here's hoping it is) but there's little point in complaining to those behind the counter. It's a family business; run by miserable and self-entitled folk.

Best chips, sausage and scallops I've had in a long time.. chips were perfect, crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, the only issue i have was portions are quite small, I'm a big guy and like my food 😋, but definitely can't knock the quality, staff were very pleasant and chatty too. What a waste of money I feel I've been ripped off tbh. I could count the chips on one hand and the fish was rather chewy must've been caught last year. Oh plus hubby said curry sauce was awful. Sorry for the bad review but needless to say we won't be going back

Stopped on way home delicious fish & chips

Was £6.90 each for fish and chips, pricey but we were hungry, with a portion of large peas and a large curry, totalling it up to £17. First of all, we paid for a large, and they handed us two small portions. Didn’t realise as they quickly shoved it in to the bag. Started eating it and soon discovered a long black hair tangled and wrapped around a chip. Absolutely vile and Disgusting. Went back and looked at the picture I took before eating, and spotted the hair on the chip after zooming in on it. And they are supposedly meant to have a 5* rating. Doesn’t match up at all. I would LOVE to add a picture to show, but it won’t let me upload one or else I definitely would have.

Not the best chippy around and we won’t be going back due to the tiny amount you get and the extortionate price. £7.50 for 2 very small portions of chips and gravy!!!!

Best fish and chips I’ve had since I was a wipper snapper! Literally the freshest fish, beautiful batter, amazing chips and the scraps!!!! 🤤 Curry sauce was also on point, super thick and yummy! The staff were also lovely, well done guys! Will definitely be returning!

The food was spot on as always 👌 only real issues are parking and £10 minimum card payment is a pain when calling past in my truck and no cash on me, I'm sure this is the same for alot of people that see car payments available but then realise the minimum spend.

This was the worst chips I’ve ever had, sorry to say but better said and hope they improve. Tasted like fat and every chip was crunch…hard and no inner fluff, lots of little chips maybe as you’d expect at the end of the day but it was early evening on a Friday surely you’d expected fresh. Hope it gets better

Been comeing here for years food is great but what really let's it down is the chip portion sizes . Had to order 2 bags today . 1 bag is not enough for a child never mind an adult . When asked for a large bag the reply back was we only do 1 size witch is smaller then small . Please sort it out harrys your better than this.
