Not serving food at the times laid out online and on their menu, and refusal to serve food outside on a hot day, when theres already people eating outside, weird place

Visited for lunch on a beautiful day, everyone in our group enjoyed thier meal which was worth every penny. The team that work there are so nice, helpful and knowledgeable. If you get chance to visit - DO IT!!

Fantastic scenery. Outside (Uni) bar person very friendly. Waiting staff inside nice & personable, just the lady dealing with table allocation not the friendliest. Food not the greatest. Service quite slow & we in no hurry so....Wished would of taken photos to back up review. Fish & chips not ideal, more batter than fish. Halibut on bed of lentil was disappointing & so dry, missing the advertised Asparagus & lemon butter Sauce. When asked for said Asparagus & Sauce, was met with disdain from the lady who allocated tables. She did not appreciate any criticism of the meal!! Overall, the pub is just lovely & a pleasure to be there, especially on a sunny day. Wouldn't rush back to eat there though.

Disappointed with the change to the vegetarian option for Sunday lunch - a whole beetroot inside a bit of puff pastry. Add to that the price increase from £15 to £18 and you get a customer who won't be back.

The gluten free food was atrocious 🥹 Ordered and had to send it back the first time due to not listing all the ingredients of the meal on the allergens menu (not great) waited 25 minutes for it to come back out, with raw bacon, unmelted cheese and the same hard patty that had obviously been sat under a warmer for half an hour had gone rock hard. Didn’t end up eating it and paid £16 for the privilege. Serving staff seemed utterly miserable and disinterested too. Kinda put a dampener on the whole thing.

Beautiful pub and location food just bland

Have been for lunch today with family. Sunday lunch. Couldn’t eat the beef as it was so tough and overcooked. Couldn’t cut through the parsnips as they were hard as rocks. Couldn’t eat the Yorkshire puddings as they were dry and hard. Really disappointed all round considering the price. Spent almost £80 for food for 3 of us and would have gotten a better meal at a £6.99 carvery.

Pop in if your in the area. Good selection of beer, top tucker and great views from inside as well as out.

Overall, the food was okay. I had the fish and chips which I will say I enjoyed! Though my family weren’t massively content on their meals. We were all able to finish our meals of course, so it wasn’t offensively bad. The main points I received was a lacking a range or vegetables and one was quite lacking in meat. One of the major points though seemed to be a lacking amount of roast potatoes! Though like I said, the fish and chips was quite nice! We were served by a member of staff who is named Georgia. Very lovely and polite. Pretty great service! She made sure to check up on us frequently, though not too much that it would be annoying if you understand? Like it was just right. Overall pretty decent experience, could just do with a slight improvement on the food side of things though.

As always, great and friendly service. Pet friendly, and a great place to see some adorable dogs. Tasty food and a good view. Particularly friendly was Lainey who looks after us.

Delicious breakfast within and lovely outdoor terrace. I had dinner there once they could do with a few more selections of starters. As they were a little limited. But that's not the pub issue more the chain. The staff were lovely and great atmosphere.

Love this place. The food is lovely, the outside space is amazing, even has an outside bar when the weather's nice. Furry friends are also welcomed which I love.

We had a lovely meal both chose the Steak pie & Sticky Toffee Pudding for Desert. The food was exceptional and the staff were fantastic, so friendly & welcoming. The view over Werneth Low is just stunning, we can't wait to come back

Went up to the hare and hounds after hearing about the views and it did not disappoint, we was very well looked after by Lara and Helen the food was absolutely delicious can't wait for our return trip 😁

We were a party of 8 after a funeral,the food took some time to come out,and unfortunately, one meal was actually cold,so it was sent back. By the time it came back, the majority had already finished their food.The food was on a whole good value,to be fair the staff were very nice.It was me and my wife's first visit,but will try again soon.

All the food was great, as was the service and staff but I just wouldn't recommend the burger 🤢

Nice atmosphere, great location and views. Unfortunately we came for food and so asked for and were given menus. We then proceeded to order and pay for drinks only to then be told we couldn't order food as they were too busy. This would not have been a problem if they hadn't had given us menus as we would have left and found somewhere else as this happens sometimes. However now we were stuck with paid for drinks

We had a lovely family meal here on Saturday 5th April 25. The food and service were amazing despite being very busy!Nicole was our server and she went out of her way to help.

Me and my partner went for lunch today. We ordered the signature burger meal and fish and chips. The burger was like a big slab of fatty bland meat, frozen chips and the fish had a crispy batter on the outside but the a fat soggy layer underneath and again frozen chips. The pub itself is clean and has a lovely atmosphere and the staff were very pleasant. It’s a shame the food isn’t nice.

Ordered steak and ale pie, when it came it was cold so sent it back. Second pie came and the pastry was like cement with very little filling. To be fair, they didn’t charge me but I was out for a night with my family and they had finished eating before my second cement pie arrived, so the evening didn’t go well. Servers were very nice but the food was really poor.

Table of 6 Saturday night. Very well looked after by Ellie, all menu choices taken well and attentive service throughout our meal. We all enjoyed our food. Very pleasant Manageress when settling the bill.

Booked a table 3 days before, 6.30 pm, Tues evening,when we got there we were informed no chicken or pork dishes were available , limited food ,ordered 3 fish & chips and steak pie / chips , fish was over cooked, and pie was dry, absolutely terrible meal, won't be going again, .

Staff lovely, attentive, friendly and helpful. Outlook is gorgeous with lovely views. Food was just ok, Chips were cold and steak tasteless and a bit tough. Such a shame because it is such a lovely setting.

Great meal today & for Monday really busy . Staff & service was top notch - food was tasty / hot & served reasonably quick . Will defo come back 👍

Visited the Hare and Hounds for a Mother’s Day breakfast treat. It’s a lovely place but the adult food portions were very poor particularly the salmon and eggs very disappointing for the price.

Good quality food and excellent service

This is such a lovely place, whether it be for a pub lunch and a drink or to sit outside and enjoy a drink whilst looking at the beautiful scenic view of Manchester. Also looks so pretty at night time with there fairylights. Definitely worth a visit.

I visited Tuesday afternoon, had a lovely steak sandwich with extra gravy and it was divine. I did not quite catch the womans name behind the bar but she was lovely and Jayden and Ellie who served our table was very good. Thank you Hare & Hounds

The young lady who served us was absolutely lovely, I think she was working on her own so she was really busy but still kept up great customer service. Food lovely as always.

Very tasty food and relaxing atmosphere. Both my wife and my first time visiting and we will definitely be back. Served by Sadie and Jaden. Service was very attentive and pleasant.

We came here to celebrate a special occasion and it ruined our evening. Firstly the toilets were disgusting. As you walk into the entrance hall you are met with a strong smell of urine. In the ladies only 1 of the three cubicles was working. When the food arrived the vegetables were tepid and the chicken had the consistency of dry shoe leather. We had to return two of the meals as they were inedible. A totally ruined evening.

First time ever been here ordered the food and waited for while to receive it on table service we asked for three Beef burger on a chicken burger with no bacon on it which is I have mentioned twice no bacon after awhile we have received the food on the table and finally end up with bacon on top of the chicken burger and when we give a shout to the staff and asked for the replace the food they take it inside and after literally two minute came back with the same chicken burger and removed bacon on top , Fry the same chicken burger Which is unacceptable. The chips was cooked twice and never taste good. the table uncleaned. never try again. Not really recommended to anyone.

My girlfriend and I had a lovely Birthday meal on the 17/03/2025. We a great time, the food cooked by Chef John was amazing and the service from Hannah was amazing too! Thank you both for making a very memorable birthday for us both. My only thing was I ordered a pint of Guinness from the bar and it didn't have a four leaf clover on the top 🍀 this would of been extra point but not essential. Thank you again Hannah and Chef John for a lovely birthday meal! We will definitely be back for other date nights!! Another thank you for the other staff, all were very welcoming!

Excellent food. Excellent service from start to finish. Friendly helpful staff couldn't do enough for us. Highly recommended and we shall definitely be back to try more from the varied menu. I had Steak and Ale Pie and it was truly divine. Full of meat, the right amount of gravy and the crust exactly how I like it.

Had a Sunday here to watch the sunset, service was top tier from Georgia. She was incredibly helpful and looked after the table, would return so long as it’s in Georgias shift!

Great service. It was busy, so there was quite a long wait for food. My son really enjoyed his meal ( hence the 4 stars ) but I was less happy. Perhaps I just chose the wrong main course.

Thank you to the lovely Georgia who was so lovely, friendly and went out of her way to be helpful when we visited. Thank you for the extra potatoes from a very pregnant lady ;) Service was perfect- thank you Georgia and the rest of the servers.

Average food toilets dirty and stank of ammonia lack of staff so long waiting times very unispired.

Had a terrific pub lunch here on Monday 10th March 2025, great food and good beer, accompanied by a friend who lives locally and thankfully didn’t make me walk up the hill. Must be lovely as the weather gets better and you can take in the view. Thanks to Jodie, Hannah and John.

The views here are off the chain; you can see the whole Manchester skyline. Lovely beer garden, nice and cosy inside too. Top real ales on tap served by friendly staff. I only had bar snacks here but the food I did have was great.

Liked it here until the young dark haired girl with an attitude problem on a power trip made us move out of the “restaurant area”. There was no one there when we walked into the seating area and it was quiet so didn’t see the problem until she came over like “you alright? This is the restaurant area”. I looked around at the empty seating area and said “yeah we are eating thanks” and she turned her back on me saying “err do you have a booking??” The place was empty, come on have some awareness! And there was no staff there when we arrived to the area, so the attitude was not needed. We moved seats anyway, not that she acknowledged it. She then spent the whole time stood behind the bar gossiping. Ruined our experience sadly. Everyone else was nice enough but she was really rude. We were also told that they don’t serve food outside but then saw people eating outside? Weird.

Great service by Georgia, she was very attentive and flexible to our needs as we were a little demanding! Food was good, atmosphere good, would recommend.

Came in with my wife, son and dog on a Wednesday evening. I’m not sure if I said something to offend the lady behind the bar but I found her very unwelcoming and dismissive. I can’t comment on the food as we decided it would be better if we ate elsewhere.

Travel Notice....Very steep and narrow road up from Hyde (eastern approach), probably easier from Romiley. But on a clear sunny day leaning on the fence opposite the pub ....you get wonderful panoramic views across to Stockport and Manchester beyond. Peaceful setting if it's not a busy day.

The flavours within each vegetable also was ‘oh my word’ truly, hats off to you 🫶🏻 ..I’ll be ordering the same next Thursday 😅 Diane & Georgia were lovely, cheerful & very attentive towards us & our circumstances. My husband and I love coming here with our dog angel. Never had a bad experience, the staff and food is great. Although Georgia wasn't happy that we came in for breakfast without angel. Still delivered excellent service despite her disappointment with not getting to see angel. We will for sure rectify this soon.

Lovely lunch after a walk. Food fresh and well made by Cal today's chef. Service was 2nd to none by Diane, who is a credit to the company, very friendly, helpful and efficient.

On a recent trip we were served by Hannah and she looked after us so well. She was really kind and made us feel at home. Great service as always.

Visited the H&H after taking some time out after I personally felt standards had dropped a few years back… pleased to say that it was a great experience and will be heading back again this week! Special thanks to Nicole who’s service seemed like it was back to the old school attentive customer first approach 👌🏼 and to John our chef… food was spot on and as mentioned, will be heading back again and again if this is the new standard 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Had lunch on Saturday and was served by Rhian. She was very helpful and friendly. Came to check everything was ok with every course. Excellent meal prepared by John. Very well presented. Jaden was friendly when he seated us and brought our drinks.

Meal out with my boyfriend, The service was fantastic from start to finish & the food was outstanding. I had the venison off the specials menu & my other half had belly pork both were delicious.

31.01.25 Went for something to eat for a Friday night treat. So disappointed. Fish & chips. Small tasteless fish and 12 chips is hardly a portion. Midland in Marple Bridge, better value, better food, better portion size, better atmosphere. Last time we are at Hare and Hounds place was freezing along with the food. This was their last chance to prove us wrong & it was just awful.We wong go back.

I went with a very close friend to have a meal and I couldn't fault the place. The ambience was perfect and the view is lovely even though the rain was beating down and the food is excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone. Also special mention to Diane who served us today she was delightful and compliments to chef Liam. First class.

Food is always spot on however there's numerous times where stuff isn't available on the menu. That's the only let down.

Came on Sunday a group of four. Two of us had steak. It was impossible to cut the fat off as both steaks were full of it. Service was good. I would come back for a beer as the location was lovely. Unfortunately you only get one chance with food, so wouldn't eat here again. Please have a word with your butcher, if he keeps supplying this quality of steak you will lose business.

I had Sunday dinner with my family on Sunday . Great service, food well presented and amazing! The lady who attended our table was Sadie I think, bubbly polite made us feel very welcome would highly recommend but make sure you book in advance. And the views are great !

It’s our favourite pub to treat ourselves too every month. It’s always got a lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and the food is always delicious.

Warm & welcoming with friendly helpful staff. Food was delicious with plenty of choice of non gluten containing options.

I must admit the rest of our group had a lovely meal but I'm afraid I went mad and had a sirloin steak cooked medium and it was tuff very disappointed. Didn't say anything because everyone else enjoyed there meal.

Me and my partner have been a few times & never had any issues with being seated, the food has always been lovely & we come here regularly as it’s one of our favourite places. However, we visited there tonight, waited a while for someone to serve us as nobody was at the desk, we then asked politely what time food was served until and were told we would only be able to dine if we had booked a table, there was only one table occupied within the food area & it was clear there would have been a table available for me & my partner to eat. We then had to leave the pub and were not offered any sincere apologies or alternatives. We were very disappointed with this as we didn’t expect to have to book on a Wednesday night and it was also clear there was enough availability for us to be able to be served.

Had a meal tonight for my sisters birthday. Food was delicious, Georgia and Mike were lovely and helpful. Definitely going to come back.

First time back for quite a few years and we weren't disappointed. Welcome warm and friendly. We didn't wait long to be served with our drinks and order taken soon after. The choice was great!! I had chicken with roast new potatoes with carrot and pepper puree,delicious,my husband had the fish and chips, he also really enjoyed it. Followed by apple tart,with ice cream ,hubby had sticky toffee pudding😋. The views are fabulous, it had been a really snowy frosty week,so everywhere looked stunning, we will be definitely back ,the only small thing was the bread was a bit too thick and the butter wouldnt spread because it was too cold. Thanks for a lovely afternoon out !!

Nicole was exceptional - informative and kind , great pub and excellent portion sizes . Though we over ordered , couldn’t recommend enough based on the brilliant server and food.
