Charging customers 10% service charge to get a pint at the bar is ridiculous

Came in for Sunday lunch and best part of the experience was leaving. Not much meat, no mashed potato only roasties and hardly any veg so had to ask for extra. I had cauliflower but no broccoli on my plate, kids had broccoli but no cauliflower and my partner only had 1 tiny carrot. Very strange. Although there was an abundance of sugar snap peas (on a Sunday lunch??). Avoid at all costs.

Lunch. Shockingly bad. Waited ages for food to arrive and when it did warm food was cold. Kids cheesy tomato pasta had no cheese, a peppery tomato sauce no kid would like with linguine, not pasta shapes they can easily eat. Adult BBQ chicken and cheese sandwich came without cheese. Avoid!

Poor menu but only wanted a snack. However, chosen Tuna 'hadnt come in!' . Second choice of Club sandwich was was worst ever experienced. Lumpy chicken, cold floppy bacon, and the toasted bloomer was not bloomer and not toasted. Nice place, pleasant staff, but busy and did not not come near us again nor express any interest in whether food was OK! We were just glad to leave with food mostly uneaten. Expressed all of the above when coming to pay but full price taken on card .... no cash acceptable or I would have made my own adjustment. Disappointing first impression of Alnwick but it got better!

Popped in for quick bite at lunch not having been before. We were only people there which should have rung alarm bells. Served at table quickly but had a fair wait for food to arrive. Sandwich was supposed to be BBQ chicken & cheese. Where was the cheese? The chicken was lumps of chicken slathered in a revolting bottle type BBQ sauce which managed to taste like a sweet vinegar - pretty awful on shop bread. Chips were ok but please leave off the salt and allow customer to add to taste - too much for me. There was no ambience- plenty of chatting staff - and when we went to pay found a sign saying card payments only - as I had the cash out ready this should have been made clear from the start - very poor communication. Had cause to use restroom before leaving and found path coveted with dust sheet as decorating appears to be in progress. Couldn't get up steps to ladies so popped into disabled loo - it was dirty!!! Final nail in the coffin of a very poor visit. Will not be going again and would not recommend.

Soup and sandwich for lunch. Sliced white bread that was stale. Soup had the odd unidentifiable white lump in (it was carrot and coriander soup!). My chicken sandwich had bones in.

Not really a bistro! Options were a basic sandwich with either soup, chips or salad. That was it! The staff were friendly and were doing a good job, but they only had to serve a sandwich with a drink so I'd hope so!

Very well run Bistro situated in a beautiful building. The food on offer was to a high standard and service very good too. Well behaved dogs allowed too.

I don’t like to leave negative reviews of restaurants as I know that waitstaff and line chefs are overworked and underpaid, but our experience at Hardy’s Bistro was so memorably bad, there’s nothing good I can say about it. The member of staff who was waiting on our table kept giving us the stink eye throughout our time there - not sure whether it was because we were the only family with a toddler there or because I was the only Indian person there. It took close to 40 minutes to actually get the food we had ordered because they brought out somebody else’s order to us in the meantime. No apology was ever issued. We ordered two toasted sandwiches, one in a baguette and the other with white bloomer. What we got was one cold limp sandwich on cheap supermarket white bread that had never seen a pan or a toaster, and the other where the baguette had clearly been baked from a pack of part baked baguettes and the filling shoved in afterwards because the bread was warm while the filing was cold. When I asked for a glass of water, I was given foul tasting room temperature water in a massive pint glass. Please don’t go to this place, there are loads of other restaurants that deserve your money instead.

We ordered a basic lunch from the bar and had our drinks. Although there was only one table occupied we still hadn't been served after 35 minutes. When I asked about it was told our chit had got stuck behind another one and so the kitchen did not know about our order. Unacceptable so we got our money back minus drinks and left. The place has a down at heel feel.

Hardys Bistro. Comfortable lounge with soft furnishings. Nice restful place to enjoy a drink. Tuna mayo cheese sandwich was basic but chips were hot and enough for two to share.

My fish and chips was truly truly awful. Overcooked and undercooked at the same time. Cold hard peas, soggy strange chips and battered fish which was mainly dark brown batter with a hollow cente and hardly any fish. On arriving we were told to pick up the menus ourselves...not a good sign. On a good note they did acknowledge the bad food (although still tried to charge me for it) and the bistro has a nice, comfortable ambience.

Wow what a super find when we visited Morpeth last week. We loved the rustic decor, the staff were lovely, the best coffee we had in Northumberland, huge selection of scones, cakes, pies, etc. We opted for cheese scones and we all agreed they were the best ones we've ever had. Highly recommend a visit here, we'll definitely return on our next visit to Northumberland

Staying near Hexham on holiday so this was our first time using Indus valley and I have to say it was absolutely beautiful. Piping hot and both meals packed with top quality well cooked meat, very generous portions too. I really couldn't fault it

A recently opened Italian restaurant in Blyth. Unfortunately, the street and surrounding area is in disarray due to road/ground works and area improvement works, making access difficult at times. Was previously called ‘Tudor Café’. Really, this is now a takeaway establishment with seating. Once established, it may offer regular café style food. Plus points – ground floor access, pizza’s fresh and ‘home made’, close to town centre, cheerful staff, coffee is good, evening deliveries, on phone or ‘Blyth Eats’ app. (‘Just Eat’ app shortly, maybe) Minus points – no high chairs, very limited menu, no children’s options, not licensed, lack of ventilation, so considerable cooking smells,

Disappointed... restaurant right at the back of the garden center...hubby has full English which was adequate.. although the black pudding was likened to a hockey puck..scrabbled egg on toast for me..egg was hard lumps and cold..as was my coffee... overpriced for what it was..
