Harbour Inn, Porthleven in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Service from Amy was delightful, efficient, and welcoming. The usual St. A. Menu had been given a boost by chef, and the Thai curry is to be highly recommended. We are looking forward to visiting again soon. The live band was also fun, though pleased they finished before bedtime! Especially like the 'snug' in room 14 if staying overnight.

Food was excellent and very dog friendly.

Had a good meal here during our week away in Cornwall. They have an outside seating area with a bar, but that bar does not sell wine. You have to go into the pub for that. We had the fish platter which was huge - we ate most of it but couldn't finish it all, but did have some room for some very nice ice cream.

Nice pub/restaurant on Porthleven harbour-side (see my daytime and night-time photographs). Good range of cask and keg beers, and a good pub-grub menu at “normal” prices. We’ve been here before, and would definitely eat/drink here again.

Great pub serving great food, dog friendly. We went for an evening meal and had no complaints about food or wine/drinks. But.... So good we went to go for a breakfast but website has wrong times on it and we didn't get served which was very annoying.

The seafood platter was absolutely stunning! Plenty for two blokes with vast appetites. Lovely atmosphere and perfect place to meet friends.

It was a nice and clean relaxing pub, I ordered lamb's liver bacon and the mash was beautiful I really enjoyed it. The price for drinks and food was a little expensive but I can understand as it's a tourist spot!

Dinner tonight. Location, atmosphere, service, and staff are all perfect. The only low point was the Hake priced at £25 was disappointly small, which is very poor value for money. So much so we have now cancelled our dinner booking for tomorrow night.

The amount of dogs in this establishment is not pleasant. One owner was letting her dog lick the table. One dog had his paws on the table. Several dogs were walking about in the chairs. Many dogs kept barking and the smell of wet stinky dog was overpowering. Even when you’re trying to eat your food dogs just wander about upto your table. It cannot be hygienic to have so many dogs where you are trying to eat a meal. Won’t be visiting for food again

Food was very good, the chefs have come up with some good experimenting for the menu! The staff were very friendly also and it wasn't too loud, very calm atmosphere. The only issue we had was a near miss with the food allergy. We clearly stated my mother would be ordering from their gluten free menu, the waitress read out the gluten free menu to my mother and went through the options. She ordered the pea soup and they brought it over with regular bread, which we luckily realised before she ate it. Dog friendly

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our 2-night stay (5th & 6th March) at the Harbour Inn. The staff were excellent; friendly, organised and attentive. The food was excellent. The room decor was tasteful and cosy. It looked as though it had been recently refurbished, even though it had been done 2 years ago. The small fridge was useful, as was the radio. The only minor (and I mean very minor!) faults were a squeaky cabinet door to the fridge, a toilet flush which could have been more effective and discoloured grout around the lower tiles in the shower. Generally, the whole place was well maintained, clean and of a high standard. Well done!!

Nice pub on the harbour, great location. Food is ok but quite limited, what the village really needs is somewhere offering good simple food, not more over complicated attempts at fine dining.

Had a fantastic meal at the Harbour Inn last night for my son’s 16th birthday 🎈. Love this pub! Fabulous food, outstanding friendly service, great decor and atmosphere and loved Reggie the cat. Ryan our waiter was top notch and so was the lady who welcomed us on arrival. Thank You!

Slightly underwhelmed to be honest! Thought the menu choices were limited and obscure for pub food (& a couple of them were not available) and nothing really took my fancy but opted for the scampi which was generous and tasty. Is it a pub or a restaurant? Restaurant prices and table service which is fine but then to have wide screen tv's in the restaurant made it feel like being in a sports bar! Alcohol policy contradicts licensing legislation when it comes to 17 year olds have a alcoholic drink with a meal. Poor choice of cider which I have come to expect from St Austell brewery pubs. Also expensive, over £8 more expensive for a round of 4 drinks than the Atlantic Inn. Sorry I really hoped to like it but won't rush back.

A lovely cosy pub in a very central location overlooking the harbour. The staff were friendly and the pub had a lovely atmosphere. We were a little disappointed with the food as felt the prices were high for the 'pub grub' received.

Such a warm welcome! Kiera was amazing, very attentive, and super fast service. The food: Succulent, perfectly cooked rare sirloin! Sea food sharer was huge. GLUTEN FREE menu available. All in all, we had a great experience. Bonus points!!! They play were playing the rugby, too.

I spent a few days in the Inn. Room overlooking harbour was very comfortable. Well appointed. Food delicious (especially the Hake).

We stayed here for 2 nights and we had the best time! Not only were our servers Evie and Donna so kind, but the food (moules mariners and venison) were exceptional as well. Would return and recommend

Stayed overnight as a christmas gift. Nathan is a great host, showing us to our room etc. Cosy, comfy room with seating area in bay window. Loved that! Great food, & drink. Lovely setting.

Friendly service and a good Sunday roast. Just what we wanted

The Harbour Inn in Porthleven is an absolute gem, offering stunning views right over the harbour. The decor strikes the perfect balance between classic pub charm and modern touches, making it feel both cozy and fresh. The layout is ideal—left side for a more refined dining experience, and the right side for a relaxed drink. There are also multiple TVs for watching sports and a pool table tucked away at the back for some casual fun. As for the food, it’s next level. My partner and I started with the padron peppers, chorizo bites, and salt and pepper squid—each dish beautifully presented and full of flavor. For mains, I had the fish and chips, which were perfect, while my partner raved about the beef burger. The food was so good, we couldn’t resist returning the next day for lunch. The pea and mint soup was a fresh, flavorful choice, paired perfectly with garlic bread, and the sticky toffee pudding for dessert was the cherry on top. The pub also boasts two beer gardens—one with a front-facing view of the harbour and a rear one for a more private setting. A big shout-out to Caitlin, who made our dining experience even better with her friendly and helpful service. By far, this has been our favorite pub in Cornwall, and we’re already planning our next visit! Highly recommend.

After some great meals here last summer, we were lucky enough to secure a spot for our Christmas lunch here this year. It was our first ever Christmas lunch at a pub/restaurant and I tell you this has set the standard high. Impeccable service and each course delicious - with portion sizes that left us utterly defeated! A great experience and value for money. Thanks to all the team for making our Porthleven Christmas very special indeed.

Most dog friendly place I've been too. Happy to accept my two boxers. Brought a bowl of water over for the dogs without having to ask and also gave them each a whole sausage. Happy dogs and happy owner. Great atmosphere, lovely pub and friendly helpful staff, will be back

Really friendly and helpful service, all of our party commented on how good it was. The food was tasty, the menu reasonably varied with a good range of drinks. Good value and nice atmosphere,although more of a restaurant than pub. Would definitely recommend.

Went in for a roast this evening. Cold dinner arrived. Sent it back and had a replacement which was also lukewarm. Probably best if not plated up and arriving two minutes after ordering. Total giveaway gravy in a jug was cold. Price has doubled the last two years food is inferior. Much better when a carvery before refurbished.

Popped in on off the street. This is winter time so able to be seated straightaway. Super friendly staff. Lovely rustic maritime feeling and calm atmosphere. Menu choice was simple but adventurous. We choose the meal deal mushroom and goat cheese starter, squid for main and steamed pud to finished. I could have possibly missed the pud but rude to say No! Highly recommended. Thank you to all the staff.

We took our great grandson here for our very first visit after all the years we have been visiting Porthleven could not fault the staff or the food a great night will definitely be going back when we next visit Cornwall

Birthday dinner for my wife on Friday evening with daughter and partner. Excellent friendly service and the food was first rate - venison and steaks. The renewed decor much more "pub cosy" now ( it would have to go some to beat The Ship on the other side of the harbour on that score!) The only downside is that certain "gassed" pump beers are £6 a pint which is simply too expensive. Still a great place and highly recommend it.

We had a lovely meal recently at The Harbour Inn on a stormy night when the rain was torrential. The pub was warm, cosy, welcoming and cheerful with excellent service from all staff members. The rain had stopped by the time we left so we managed a welcome stroll round the harbour and town. A beautiful town in which to spend time with some well prepared, well served food to keep us going. Do make a visit when you can. You won't regret it, I'm sure!

Had a fantastic meal once again at The Harbour Inn. The food was great and the service from Alex,Caitlin,Amy and Evie was superb. Nothing was too much trouble and they made us and our three dogs feel very welcome. Alex was great...very funny and gave the diners a real giggle whilst waiting for their food. Had a lovely evening meal last night at Harbour Inn, Porthleven. I was with a large group of friends (14) and everything was great! Alex our main server was friendly and did a great job . When I organised it because of the large number I had to provide menus a week before which helped .

Are here twice over a week while on holiday. Service was poor, missed items of the order and tepid warm vegetables with Sunday lunch, turkey sliced tissue thin and tasted shop bought. Otherwise a nice pub, good beer but sadly wouldn’t eat here again.

Never disappoints, helpful friendly staff, lovely food,plenty of space and very dog friendly. Been several times already on this trip will be returning by before holiday ends, would highly recommend. They have everything right considering it's such a busy place. Dog treats and water station are a nice touch.

Lovely harbourside pub with great food and drink set in a comfortable relaxed atmosphere

Extremely well appointed rooms, very comfortable bed. Breakfast was a good standard, with excellent coffee. Food was good in the evening, I had the lobster. Deducted a star as the nespresso machine didn't work and the alarm went off at 7.20am, preset from previous guest I imagine. I didn't seek assistance regarding the machine as I had my own fresh coffee with me. When I explained at checkout they might want to check both of these issues there was no apology (lady blonde hair) and she was unhelpful asking where to leave my bag for half hour. The manager though was kind and warm. I would definitely stay again, but deducted a star for service.

We've eaten here about 4 times in the past year and every time we've had lovely food (that even caters for a fussy teenager!), attentive and fun staff and its just such a great place to relax.

A lovely well kept pub overlooking the harbour. Amazing food, it is definitely a place to stop at when visiting the harbour.

3 of us went for a birthday lunch. Lovely position table and atmosphere, great staff but slightly disappointed with the roast. Yorkshire pudding was overcooked, potatoes and parsnips very dry. The pastry on the Brie tart was burnt. Also thought the dish of vegatables appartently for two, was very small for the price. Would go again to try other food but would not have the roast.

This is a very nice establishment however their prices for food and wet sales is outrageous and clearly it is their aim to rip off all their tourists That if actually didn’t come their business would go to the wall so getting on the band waggon over charging and taking their customers up the river one of their staff actually said they thought their pub overcharged their customers terribly Which took me back but I admired and respected them for their honest open candid comments My prawns were hard work and of an inferior quality and my salad I think I was a rabbit as it was a mountain high hill of greens and I had to send out an SOS to find the cheese and tomatoes and other stuff . We met and spoke to a local business entrepreneur that informed us they didn’t think the quality of food standard and presentation reflected the price in any way And the drinks are gastronomical I don’t mind for paying for the food things in life but I take great umbrage at being ripped off and we will not be returning . My recommendation is do a Diana Ross and ( walk in by )

We had a fab lunch here today with friends, great food & friendly staff in lovely surroundings ❤️

Wanted to eat here for a while, wish I’d not bothered, me and the wife both had Steak frites well done with fries, what we ended up with was medium cut up pieces of cold steak scraps with barely warm fries shockingly bad, on the upside we got to listen to some music from the speakers and some locals child iPad playing Peppa pig, we know they were local as they were chatting to the staff how bad it is down here for Septembers weather wise, girl that severed was nice guy behind bar had a nice hickey on his neck classy

We came here on the night before our wedding for a meal and they didn't disappoint, very attentive and good service....popped in tonight for a few drinks and the lovely lady behind the bar remembered our special day and got us a round of drinks . To top that a local guy at the bar could see we were looking for somewhere to sit and he showed us to the covered outside seating area......this is why we love Cornwall.... great people , great pub , thank you all .

A beautiful hotel and restaurant, the decor makes me feel like I’m in the inside of a grand ship! Staff are very attentive, polite and forward thinking. Thank you for a wonderful few days - we will be back!

Lush outdoor seating area, plenty of space, with pizzas ready in 5 mins/under and beers and cider on tap.

I like this pub. The food is really tasty, only the pizza place in the beer garden is not too good at all (soft and not tasty). We had burgers, cod (hake) and fish and chips. Also great beer garden. 100% recommendation!

Buying good reviews is a scam. If this is your employee, then that's not cool.
