Duck pancakes, house special chow main and prawn crackers absolutely delicious. Ready bang on collection time, all cooked fresh and hot to eat. Would highly recommend.

Use this place all the time as usually fantastic food however we ordered a box this time, which is full of different starters and chips. The side order of lemon chicken however was as always delicious. The box!! On opening it looked like the box had been dropped and everything had just been flung back in. ..I thought I had received a box of cold chips..everything was stone cold. The salt and pepper chicken was dried up and hard . The chips were meant to be salt and pepper but just tasted like normal. I phoned to complain that I could not find the 2 spring rolls or the 2 curry parcels only to be told that they are in there and so small they may look like a chip..yes found them eventually. This restaurant is normally our favourite as the food is always fab, not sure if they have a new chef but the food looked like a dogs dinner and was cold. I ordered 4 hours before I wanted it and it felt like it had been cooked 4 hours before and left on a shelf! I hope they resolve whatever issues they have going on or I wont be back.

We have had take-away from here before and it has always been very good. We ordered the set meal for two on New Year’s Eve. Arrived on time, hot & plentiful. Fresh & tasty food, too much for both of us. It would have fed at least 3. I will be ordering again & would definitely recommend the Happy Valley.

Unbelievable food, whether you order it as a take away or you sit in at the restaurant. Always arrives fast and food is always hot. The most delicious fruity hot chicken, and the best crispy shredded beef. Only ever order Chinese food from here, no where else compares!

A lovely atmosphere within the restaurant is ideal with the great food on offer. And given one of our party was from China and thoroughly enjoyed the meal there really cannot be a more credible recommendation

Ordered a couple of meals and sides tonight to collect. Every single item was delicious, even though I was full I didn't want to finish, it was so tasty. We phoned in order and they had my number stored, and welcomed me by name, even though we have only been couple of times. I was told price and how long it would be straight away, and they were only couple of minutes out. All the food was hot and gorgeous and for the quality and quantity I think its reasonably priced. Will definitely use a gain on a regular basis. The best chow mein noodles I have had.

We went for a pre xmas night out there were 8 off us 1 veggy, We all chose there fixed menu meals & we were all impresses & will be returning, the only comment would be that drinks are a bit pricey but we didn't go here to drink

Around 7pm earlier this week, it was too late to really cook but needed something so gave Happy Valley a try in Norton. I'd heard good things but never tried it but now wish I had. The food was delicious, with the meat really good and loads of flavour. We went for King Prawns sweet and sour and Beef with peppers and black bean. Both dishes were great and the portions were a good size too and not too expensive. We had a nice chat to the staff who were serving and it was a nice friendly atmosphere. Ours was a take-away but I will be back again and wish I'd not waited.

We visited this restaurant recently as a family of three couples.On entering the restaurant we were greeted by a member of staff and shown to our table.we ordered a banquet for six ,and we were delighted with the whole meal Starting with soup,followed by appetisers,then the excellent main course.All washed down with Chinese beer.Add the great service. A great night out.

Overall Happy Valley represented good value for money, two banquet meals for £33 sat in the restaurant. Service here was very friendly and efficient. Soup and appetisers were all very nice, good ribs and chicken satay sticks. Must be honest the mains were not really to my taste, although there is a choice of 6 or 7 to choose from. The beef was too rubbery and the pork in honey was a very watery sauce, maybe that’s how it is supposed to be but it was a little tasteless. In summary, good value and pot luck with the food really as we were staying locally 100 miles from home and relying on Trip Advisor for recommendations.

Always excellent service and a pleasure to eat in too.. good is just the best have tried a lot of different varied dishes and all are lovely

We had the large banquet - soup/prawn crackers, mixed starters (spring rolls, spare ribs, chicken satay, garlic chicken), Peking duck, mains (lemon chicken, sweet & sour chicken, sizzling beef in black bean sauce, pork Szechuan) - tremendous but couldn’t manage it all (just). Definitely recommend.

For me it's the best Chinese takeaway in Norton/Billingham/Stockton, never had a bad meal whether it's been sit in or take away. Always use this place when we have a takeaway.

Absolutely fabulous as usual. Been coming here now for nearly 30 years and is always a gorgeous meal. Even the 2 of our group who have turned veggie thoroughly enjoyed the veggie set meal.

My family and I visited this restaurant on the offchance yesterday evening on our way home travelling to Manchester. We ordered spring rolls and prawn toast to start. They were crisp and delicious. We then had chicken with cashew nuts, special noodles, shredded beef (crispy beef) and boiled rice. All were extremely tasty and beautifully balanced.

My husband and I had a gorgeous meal here last night. We both really fancied aromatic duck so we settled for one of the set menus, which was such amazing value for the amount of food that we got. The fact that you could choose ANY main course from the whole menu was just fab as well. The food was absolutely delicious and the service fantastic. We will def be returning and using this restaurant for take away/delivery!

We eat here regularly and can't fault anything regarding food or service ,staff are so friendly and helpful ,would recommend to anyone who wants quality food and fab service

Been visiting Happy Valley for 15 years plus, always great food, friendly staff, it is always special , well presented and very appetising, garlic and spicy salt king prawns and duck with pancakes.👍

It's the only time we visit, New Years Eve, it great.we always make the mistake of having 4 courses and come away bloated, next time it will have to be just the 3 courses

Called in tonight at 9.20 to have a meal, restaurant completely empty. Was just about to ask for a table for 10 and never got the words out of my mouth before being told they weren’t serving anymore, even though they didn’t close til 10.30, not going to bother anymore. They obviously don’t need the custom!

This used to be a decent restaurant but is steadily getting worse...........ordered a sizzling meal which was only just warm with a revolting sauce and processed chicken pieces. The fact that there was practically no one in the place was a sure indicator of the poor food quality.

Take away orders seemed to take precedent.....3 drivers constantly in and out and leaving the door OPEN on a cold November night.

Ordered from here through just eat, was 10 minutes late but that’s ok. I ordered the chicken in oyster sauce and it was so disappointing. No flavour and the chicken was rubbery and slimy and the texture was awful like ‘fake’ chicken you get in microwave meals. Really disappointing especially when my meal was £6.50, not worth that at all, hardly touched it.

As a vegan it can be rather hard to eat out, especially when I want something other than chips. I had the bean curd with garlic and chilli which was amazing! So much better than tofu which I make myself, would truly recommend to all people, especially if you're a group of meat eaters, veggies or vegans :)

We had one of our 'girls nights out' at the Happy Valley this evening and had a most enjoyable evening. There was a great choice of food for our eclectic tastes! The food was of lovely quality, piping hot and absolutely delicious.The service was brilliant, and atmosphere in the restaurant relaxing, no intrusive music so easy for a group of friends to have a conversation and all to hear/participate.The restaurant is very popular so booking recommended, as it is a smashing place and really good value for money!

We went there for an ev ening meal with friends. This is the first visit and we found the meal very pleasant. We all had different dishes and everybody thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We all had a Chinese beer which I surprisingly enjoyed as I don't normally drink lagers.

As lovers of Chinese Food the Restaurant at Hartlepool Marina was our go to place for a date night. Since that closed down we have struggled to find a Chinese Restaurant to visit. In the area on Saturday and we decided to try Happy Valley, we were not disappointed. The Restaurant is cosy and traditional, it doesn't have the glamourous feel of the Restaurant that used to be at the Marina, more of a homely, casual feel but still lovely. The Crispy Duck is a favourite of ours and did not disappoint! It was lovely! We got a couple of main meals which were nice. The crispy beef wasn't great, not much beef (if any) more like crispy batter batons but nice all the same, sauce was lovely. Service was great, all staff lovely and nothing was too much for them! Will definitely be returning!

Really friendly staff who can't do enough for you. Lovely food, nicely served and hot. A reasonable wait was given after starters before moving onto main course which was nice, allowed time to enjoy the evening, no feeling of being hurried. The Chinese tea to finish was just perfect. Will definitely be back.

Had a lovely meal there today. The owner was very attentive to us. Yummy crispy duck n pancake as well as salt n chilli spare ribs as starters. Main course was very tasty too. Just felt all very homely. Will definitely return. They even do deliveries!

Pre booked a table as we knew the popularity of this Chinese and it's no wonder we needed too! The food was amazing, we ordered a set menu with duck to share between us all and every course was amazing and for those wanting a bit of heat the options didn't disappoint ! My only disappointment was I couldn't possibly eat any more and we had food left, luckily they boxed it up for us to take home ! Will definitely be back soon !!!!

We went for nieces 14th birthday as it's her fave place to eat. Found it hard to feed the kids as Chinese isn't their thing (ages7&3) but we got by with chicken satay, noodles & rice & ice cream for dessert. The place was extremely busy, our starters arrived quickly & all were lovely. We had to wait quite a while for our crispy duck due to how busy they were but this was a welcome breather after a large selection of starters. The duck was delicious & so were the selection of main courses we ordered, particularly the Cantonese beef & king prawns in rice. The staff were lovely & despite the kids starting to get bored & tired we had a lovely evening. Only criticism is the toilet door handles - my 3yr old got stuck in the gents for a good 5mins, when I asked staff for help they calmly gave me 10p to twist the handle & carried on working! By their reaction it was obvious this is a regular occurrence, but it was a bit of a panic for us! We would definitely come back but I wouldn't bring the kids next time, the food wasn't for them & it's too long for them to sit without getting bored & fidgety.

Fancied something different and we had a set meal for two. The food was good , particularly the special fried rice and starters. The service was very friendly.

Visit last Wednesday for a colleagues retirement. There were 9 people in the party and all enjoyed the set menu consisting of starters, crispy duck and pancakea. Mains varied from chow mein to sweet and sour. All dishes were absolutely delish!! The staff were absolutely fab and i will absolutely be returning - excellent!!

what a wonderful take away and resturant happy to show me what i could have on the menu as im a celiac even on a busy saturday night, didnt wait that long for our order portion sizes good food cooked well will defentley be going again.

Visited this restaurant for the first time last Sunday in the recommendation of my father's work colleague. From the outside I must say I was a little dubious, but once inside we were greeted by 2 very friendly female staff (i'm assuming a mother and daughter). We were the only people in the restaurant, although a few came to collect Take Out. The staff were extremely attentive (which i've found isn't always the case, even when a place is empty). The food was tasty and portion sizes were generous. And we got free refills on our green tea. Also free prawn crackers. I would recommend the satay chicken, duck and plum and the king prawns in oyster sauce. The atmosphere was lovely as they played traditional Chinese music. In summary, we had a fantastic meal at a reasonable price with great service. I would definitely go back.

Very friendly staff. The restaurant was clean and the décor was excellent. We had a take away (chicken chow mein and chips) which were fresh, hot with plenty of chicken. The portions were really good. They also do deliveries. I would go there again.

ordered a take away on the way home. crispy lamb was soggy and mainly bean sprouts in the dish. chicken chow mein was ok. portion of chips went straight into the bin they tasted like supermarket oven chips. egg fried rice tasted bland again went straight into the bin. wished we had went to the tasty wok.

Despite doubling up as a take-away (which is not separate from the restaurant and serves as a constant distraction for diners), this place serves the tastiest Chinese food in the area. The starters are delicious and a particular highlight is the peanut sauce that accompanies the chicken satay - almost drinkable! The crispy duck is always done very well and unlike some I've had in other Chinese restaurants IS actually crispy. Bottom line is I've never had a bad dish in this place and although it's not the cheapest compared to some of the all you can eat buffets in the area the food quality sets it apart. I simply cannot understand how anyone gives this place a bad review......

A lovely little restaurant and take away, pleasant staff and prompt service, the food was first rate, definitely returning for more scrumptious Chinese fare.

Ordered a take away for my wife and myself last night. The starters were OK but the two mains were very disappointing. We ordered a King Prawn dish and a Chicked in Black Bean Sauce dish. Both mains consisted of small amounts of Prawns / Chicken and very large amounts of Onions and Peppers. The Bean Sprouts were supposed to be Stir Fried but they had been boiled and came soaked in water. Stir Fried food is supposed to be dry !! My wife was ill through the night and I also felt that my food hadn't digested well. It will be a long time before we return to this place.

Living close by we have often used Happy Valley mainly for dining in and occasionally a takeaway. After ordering a takeaway we were told they were busy and it my take 40 mins, this wasn't a problem however 90 minutes and 3 phone calls later the food arrived and most certainly wasn't worth the wait and not the quality it once was! Poor customer service and poor food...

Read the mainly good / excellent reviews so tried Happy Valley for birthday meal. The place is a bit 'low rent' in terms of style but seemed perfectly neat and tidy. The issue for me was the food. We had a set meal for 4 and although the Soup and Duck pancakes were fine, we found 3 of the 4 main courses a real dissapointment. The Prawn dish was spicy and pretty good but the Chicken and Cashews was really bland and tasteless and the beef in a creamy sauce similar, no real taste or spices and just not nice. However the Pork dish was by far the worst. Very thin slices of not very nice tasting Pork on a bed of dull vegetables was pretty dire. With 4 cokes, two lemonades and three beers, at almost £90 it wasn't the cheapest of nights out but sadly we didn't leave feeling the food was great or value for money - maybe just picked the wrong dishes?

Went here yesterday to get food and the young gentlement Jack is welcoming and very polite and makes you feel welcome that's what we like , so I will be returning

Ive been getting a take away from here for the last 3 years and i can honestly say ive never had a bad meal from here!! Always quick delivery, always hot and always fresh. The chicken in garlic and spicy salt is my favourite and the duck in black bean.

Called here last night as we have not been for a while, we were so disappointed the food was not half as nice as it used to be and my meal was cold when i mentioned it to the waitress she said she would tell the chef and, that,s as far as things went !!! This is one restaurant we will not be returning to.

Big group of 13 for a birthday/wedding anniversary, the staff where friendly and attentive. The food was ok but no that special. Most cleared their plates, but I struggled with my starter and main. Worth a try.

We had 4 friends visiting from Birmingham at the weekend and decided to visit the Happy Valley as we had not been here for some considerable time. Our table was booked for 8.30pm which was quite late for us but we needn't have worried as the restaurant was virtually empty so we had a big table with a lazy Susan. The service was speedy and efficient as they were not too busy and they were very accommodating with the set menus and allowed different choices of starters. The food was served hot and the portions plentiful.We forgot to ask our waitress's name for which we apologise but we do know she was for fom Sunderland and she was witty and funny and very helpful with food recommendations and processing our order.It was a shame there were not more people in as the ambience may have been better but then we had the added bonus of attentive staff and superb service! We will definitely visit again soon.

Took the family to The happy Valley restaurant in Norton on Saturday night.Its been a long time since we were last there and its going to be a long time before the next visit.The waitress that served us did her best and was very pleasant. The place needs a face lift. The service itself was not very good due to the amount of people standing around waiting to collect take away orders and the staff were tending to them. This meant the entrance door was open more than closed and the restaurant was a bit cold. One of us actually put their coat on.Food was nothing to rave about. Soup was just to say warm. The various starters and the main course was made enjoyable by the good company and conversation. I doubt we will be back.

We arrived at Happy Valley last Saturday - celebrating our Wedding Anniversary and taking a chance to be welcomed by other popular venues, but they were full. We haven't been to this restaurant for a number of years but we knew it had a good reputation. We easily got a table but be warned although apparently empty, it soon filled up. The food took an age to arrive because of the incessant number of people coming into collect take-outs! I shouldn't complain since I would have been one of the people ordering thus, had we not gone out. Another problem was the door left open each time a person came in to collect their order meaning a cold draught hit my back leaving me shivering. (it was generally a cold night)! Overall the experience was mixed because of the interruptions and late arrival of our meal but having said that it was lovely food and the staff were very accommodating if not hassled trying to please both markets - take-out and restaurant.

The service was terrible and the lady on the phone was very arrogant and interrupting, we ordered this meal at 7 to turn up at 9, it didn't turn up till 9.40pm we rang twice and didn't even get to finish off what we had to say the lady was abrupt and cut us off with its on its way now that was at 9, 10 minutes later still nothing, when it did eventually turn up it was cold and needed to be warmed up.

Good food excellent service we have been lots of times just seems to get better and better would recommend it to all ages

Phoned on Wednesday to book for Thursday booking accepted for 10pm for 2. When we arrived we were told no booking as they close at half ten, the lady said they were closed on Wed so they must have a problem with ghost answering their phone and making bookings when they not there!

Love this place, always guaranteed a warm welcome, great service and delicious food. Just be warned there will be lots of it !

Pleasant meal, service was good, the food was tasty and the price was ok... I wouldn't go out my way to come but if I'm out in Norton I would come back again.... The only complaint was the pork was really dry it had been cooked then cooled down to slice and reheated. I imagine they do this to get thinner slices and portion control but it ruined the pork.

We've used Happy Valley for years but unfortunately, won't be doing so again. For the third time, the staff have forgot to include an item with our order. The first time, I did nothing as I realised I had not been charged for the missing item so put it down as a mistake. The second time, I called & the lady told me she had not charged me for the item which was missing, I explained I understood this but as it was a main dish they had forgotten, something would need to be done - the lady's solution was for me to travel back to the restaurant & collect the main dish (even though I live around 5 miles away & pointed out that the other items would've started to go cold by the time I'd got back) but this was the only option available. This evening, I checked our order which was collected upon returning home & an item was missing AGAIN. I called and, once again, the lady said she had not charged me for the item, she couldn't quite grasp that this was not the point & if I make an order for food which is then repeated back to me on the phone, I expect to receive what I have ordered! The lady apologised & when I said we wouldn't be using the restaurant again, she simply said "ok sorry, thank you bye" and hung up. It would probably help if they had better English speaking staff to deal with telephone orders. To be honest, the food is just about average & has gone downhill from when we started using Happy Valley years ago. Service & responses to complaints are terrible & we will not be using this restaurant/takeaway again.

We had been using happy valley for years ordering once a week, but recently it has gone way downhill, the food quality is poor and expensive also have a habit of sending the wrong order and after phoning about the wrong order the attitude of the 'lady' was disgusting demanding that the incorrect order they sent needs to be returned with none missing before they will send out the correct order lol. Seems these people don't care about their customers one bit. Avoid.

We stopped using Happy Valley having viewed that they had a poor hygine rating from the official websites. Recently we chose to give them a chance. I was extremely dissappointed to say the least. The driver arrived with discusting dirty hands, and i mean really over the top filthy. He was holding my food fumbling around with change. He couldnt minus £11.20 off of £15 and therefore just handed me all the money and said 'Is that enough'. I didnt want all of his dirty change in my hand so i have it back. I though he could do with buying some soap. Then he went to walk away without giving me my food whereby i had to call him back. Anyway when eating my food all i could think of was his dirty fingers. I couldnt finish it so it went in the bin. I rang to make them aware. I was being polite, i dont like to make a scene and they hung up on me! HOW RUDE!!! If it was a signal issue, they didnt give me the curtusy of calling me back. So i thought if they dont want any constructive critisism then they are not willing to improve. If they run a business like this we have no choice but to never come back. Its sad to say this as we used the happy valley alot in previous years and in our oppinion it has gone down his massivly.

The food and service here are OK but it is way too expensive. For a set meal for 2 and an extra chicken fried rice we were charged £73 which was probably £15 more than it was worth.

Ordered a takeaway after a acceptable one hour wait the delivery driver turned up in a old clapped out van, and had no change whatsoever our order was £14 unfortunately we had no £5 notes in the house. I have never know a takeaway driver not to have change. His attitude was terrible and we ended up not getting the food as I wasn't prepared to pay £20 for £14 worth of food. I rang up to complain and they didn't seem bothered at all. Terrible service and terrible staff will never use again!

We tried this place many times. The take away menu is good and affordable. One night we sat in the restaurant. Unfortunately the ambiance was non existant, staff were not overly friendly and of course the price was higher.

Ordered takeaway with our favourite chilli prawns.What a disappointment-the batter was thick and chewy,whereas it is normally tempura in style.Main courses also poor.Have used this takeaway many times and has always been good.Unable to eat most of it .When I phoned to comment and asked to speak to person in charge was informed they were not on duty.On a Saturday?They offered no sympathy but a grudging 10% discount on next visit!Don't think we will need the discount.

Ate here as the Chinese we had selected in Stockton was closed for a refurb. Nice surroundings and looked very clean. The staff were very friendly. The food was nice but nothing to shout about and was a little over-priced compared to other establishments that I have eaten in.

Visited Happy Valley at the weekend for a family members birthday meal. Not the first time we have been here, it's somewhat of a family celebration staple these days and once again, it didn't disappoint.A special mention must go to the woman who served us throughout the evening who is just so warm hearted and lovely, which a few of our table pointed out throughout the evening.The food as ever was gorgeous, soup for starters, then the duck pancakes which are quite simply divine. Only slight fault was that we ordered 6 main dishes, and we ended up with 7, 2 of which we didn't order. But the extra dish still went down a treat so all was forgiven!All in all, another successful visit to the delightful place that is Happy Valley!

Me and my husband went for a meal at the Happy Valley, we had been a few tims before everytime food is servedvery quickly, staff a really friendly and happy to help, I had crispy beef lovely..My husband chicken szechaun lovely but a few to many mushrooms ect in it.. Only real complaint is the coke is always flat.. not nice..will have water next time. So if ya go enjoy as im sure you will.

We ordered starters and main courses for 3 people, and all dishes arrived very quickly and we poor in taste, and not cheap either. The speed of the service led us to believe the food had been re-heated and may not be fresh. We will not be coming back

Great service and attentive staff warm and friendly food fab , we were going to other place to eat in Norton but staff ignorant so , went to this great Chinese I would recommend to anyone , set menus wonderful carnt wait to go back .

Always have either the B or C set menu for 2. In fact my husband and i are working our way through the different main course options on each visit. The Duck pancakes are to die for,yummie!You can order the main from the al a carte if you dont fancy any from the set. The staff are very friendly, the service prompt, food presentation excellent. it can get very busy late on so its best to book a table in advance for the weekend. The back part has seating for larger groups which is a bonus. Only downside is the phone never stops ringing for the takeaway service,still it's good sign as its so popular. Cant complain about the delivery charge as it always arrives on time and still hot enough to eat straight away, in fact we had the takeaway for our xmas dinner last year, beat the traditional roast hands down.

Just tried this takeaway after reading good reviews. Decided on set meal for two. We were very impressed as the food was very tasty and obviously freshly cooked. Intend to try the small but quaint restaurant asap. Would have given five stars if they hadnt charged a delivery fee. Staff were very polite. Well worth a try. Will be revisiting. Little gem of a takeaway.

The prices are on the increase and the quality of the food has gone down. It is still enjoyable and the takeaway set menus are very good value for money. However we ate in this time and there is one lady who is quite rude.

Can't comment on atmosphere as had a takeaway...Can't think of a better Chinese takeaway, usually get it as a treat when in the area and am always highly impressed, great value for money, noodles aren't greasy like most and the main dishes are plentiful and gorgeous.

First ate here to celebrate the arrival of a now 19 year old. Have returned recently to celebrate birthdays and dog sitting duties. Food is excellent, quantities manageable and the set menu varied with something for everyone to enjoy and share. Excellent value and friendly attentive staff.

After ordering £30 takeaway they sent a wrong dish so I phoned them up and explained only to get a rude woman say "well we have only charged you for the dish we sent so if you want the dish you ordered we want the wrong dish back and you will have to wait 30 mins until we can send it out again" After using happy Valley for over ten years disgusted is an understatement, they couldn't care less once they have your money!

I went there with my partner a couple of weeks ago. The staff are friendly and the food was very nice. We ordered from the set menu, and we thought it was a very reasonable price for the amount of food you get. As always with restaurants, the drinks are a tad expensive, but that's the same pretty much anywhere. If you are going for dinner with some friends or your partner, this is a good choice.
