Happy Lamb Hot Pot Birmingham in Birmingham

We came here to celebrate my husband’s new job. We have had several hot pot locations in Birmingham so we decided to try this one out. Likes: spicy soup base. It has more spices than spicy soup base you can get anywhere else. Highly recommend! Meat choices are good too. We opted out venison but had more portions of beef and lamb. Dislikes: service is a bit undesirable compared to other competitors. We asked for take away boxes but were told not allowed. I understand it is buffet style but what we really wanted was to pack left over soup away and unable to do that discourages us from coming back in the future. Also vegetables and food are displayed, free for grab in food section, appeared unclean and disorganized. Suggesting for more regular food inspection.

I used to come to this hot pot restaurant all the time, and it was amazing. But now, it’s absolutely disappointing. The variety of hot pot options has decreased, and the hot pot chicken sauce was overwhelmingly garlicky—everything tasted like pure garlic, which was really unpleasant. They used to have BBQ items, but now they don’t. Overall, I was really dissatisfied and won’t be coming back.

I’m usually a bit skeptical of buffet restaurants but Happy Lamb has proven me wrong. Food was exceptional in taste and quality with fresh ingredients. It’s not the cheapest buffet hot pot but considering the quality of meat that you get as well as fresh seafood, it’s actually very reasonable. You get to choose your broth as soup base - I’d highly recommend the spicy sour pickled cabbage broth AND the spicy marrow chicken broth. Just one thing to be aware of - the staff will refill your broth for free but I’d avoid the refill as these are just generic chicken broth which ends up just diluting the original broth making it taste so bland. Overall, I’d highly recommend and would return again!

My partner and I have been to the Birmingham Happy Lamb a few times now and each time has been pleasant. They have a variety of ingredients in the buffet section for you to choose from but I feel there could be more, of they could change it up once in a while. The hot and sour pickled cabbage soup base is our favourite.

The service was excellent, and the food quality was impressive, especially for a buffet. The hotpot broth was delicious, though the spicy soup could definitely be spicier. I especially enjoyed the lamb and shrimp — both were fresh and delicious. And don't miss out on the vanilla rolls for dessert!

I really enjoyed myself here. They made sure to tell us the instructions in a very polite way. They even helped me find my student card when I lost it, the staff were brilliant. The only thing I would recommend for this place is to have water. My group were very thirsty and constantly going up and down up and down it got a bit agitating since we were a big group. But the food is absolutely brilliant. I have been You know what twice now and there hasn't been a moment where I feel that down by the food. I believe that there is a lot of stuff to try here. There is hot food for people that don't like mixing their food and there is also the cold food for the people that want to try new things. I definitely advise people to come here

Happy lamb is by far one of the nicest hot pots in birmingham i've ever been too. all you can eat, delicious home cooked broths and raw and cooked food.

Amazing food, Amazing Service, Wonderful Atmosphere

This has changed since we last came - it now offers on an "all you can eat" basis where they bring you continuous meat until you say stop and the other things like fish, prawns, tofu and veg you just get from the buffet. There is a "make your own sauce" section which is good. There's also make your own ice cream machine which the kids loved. Somehow it was also better value than last time we came and there's not many places that can say that!

The broth isn't very nice, it ruins the food. Not that it's any better tbh. The experience is the hype on tic tok. Glad I came but not again unfortunately. Could change a couple of things and it would be great.

As a Chinese I don’t think it’s the right Chinese hot pot experience you are looking for in Birmingham Chinatown. A much better experience and food quality and service in Haidilao Hotpot than this one. This restaurant used to be good and now it’s just not nice anymore. I won’t come back.

The customer service was extremely poor. When we were seated, the waiter told us that 9:45 was the latest time to get food from the buffet. Later, a staff member named Jasmine informed us that the buffet would be ending early because there were very few customers left. There was no respect for guests who were still eating and had paid for their meals. Each plate of meat we ordered took about 20 minutes to be served. The level of service and quality was so bad, yet they still had the audacity to charge a service fee. It's truly unbelievable! I would recommend everyone not to come, as you'll receive a truly disgusting service experience!!!!!!!

Korean buffet, I love the kimchi it’s always fresh. Food freshly prepared and the broth is refilled.

We enjoyed the dinner, dishes, buffet, hot pot, atmosphere, and services. Plenty of food, drinks, and choices to make. The food was fresh, the atmosphere was good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It is one of the expensive ones but it is worth trying it, I recommend it.

This is by far the best hot pot place in Birmingham as it has unlimited beef and lamb refills. There is a buffet selection as part of the hotpot package and dessert is also included which has fruit and ice cream. As a bonus if you go during lunch period, you will get a discount. Service is good (friendly staff - very multi-lingual) and quick, and most importantly the place is clean. Highly recommended for both newcomers and experienced hotpot goers!

I have come here many times now, every time I leave from here I am satisfied. The place is always clean. The cutlery and plates are well washed and you can tell they are clean. The bathrooms a very clean too (that matters to me and my family) . The service is prompt and the staff definitely know how to take care of the customers. Each staff is designated to a certain amount of tables so you know you'll be taken care off. There is a variety of foods. So if you come with picky eaters, you'll have options. Parking isn't a problem as you'll find parking near by, it's a bit pricey. But worth it.

Restaurant was filthy as were the walls and toilets, after reading the good reviews on here I’m starting to wonder if we even went to the same place? The food and broth looked good but tasted bad and stale and just not right. There wasn’t a great selection of raw and cooked ingredients as I have seen in other people’s photos. We enjoyed the sauce bar but that was it. We weren’t made aware of there being a sweet station either so missed out on that. Website is incredibly misleading with prices and promotions, oh and a beer was £10!!! Paid £37 to leave unsatisfied and nauseous!!! (P.s. the bits of food in the customers bathroom sink leads me to believe we weren’t the only ones not enjoying it)

To be honest, it is really rare to have such a hot pot buffet in the UK. The service attitude is also very good, but the hot dishes can be changed a little. Overall, it is a very good experience.

Good place for group lunch if you’re into cooking your own lamb beef fish etc etc Good verity of options and nice ambiance 4/5 overall ! No 10%off on Saturdays and Sunday is a bad option taken off from the tissue box then 🙂

We went there as six friends. Had a variety of leaves, bamboo..prawns etc food and condiments for hotpot. The downsides was that we had to order 4 times for more lamb....and a long wait...and our plates were not cleared away at all. Ambience not bad...but service need improving

Great variety of food and the fried chicken 😍😍 I think really good value even on the Saturday night. Service was prompt with excess plates being taken away regularly. I think this is great for hot pot newbies as you can freely try the different ingredients without fear you've wasted money on something you won't like!

A very good dining experience, the food is very fresh, especially the beef and mutton are freshly cut, very good! The dishes are replenished quickly and the staff are very enthusiastic. I recommend it to everyone! Will definitely come back next time

One star review as I came to Birmingham specifically to eat here as a solo business traveler and was told I can't book a table for one but I need to walk in and see if there is a table available. Very poor customer service. I've eaten here before and the food is good but it would seem they only care for groups.

Very good food and broth, the quality is far exceeded my expectations! The staffs are so attentive, keep bringing us the freshly cut lamb and beef, topping up the broth before we ask. We will come back definitely!!

It wasn’t the best experience at all. Firstly, the food quality wasn’t great. For example, the beef and the lamb has no flavour at all. Not because there were no seasoning but it’s just the quality of it was at the bottom of the scale. Secondly, The service of the staff was ridiculously bad. Every single of them are either impolite or pulling up an annoyed face that almost rolled their eyes at us. It says on the board that if the child is 12 and under 155 cm they will have a discount. My friend’s child is 12 and she’s under the height but she wore a higher shoe that day coincidentally. However the staff pulled up the annoyed face even though it was ridiculously obviously about the shoe.Overall worse experience and would never go again.

The worst hotpot experience I ever had. We went there to celebrate my mum's birthday on 5/1/25 and bought a cake. We asked the receptionist if we could put our cake in their fridge. The staff asked me to give the cake to the people ‘inside’ with a rude attitude. We kindly asked if we could ask her to help because this was a surprise to my mum so I didn’t want to bring the cake inside. Then she just took it without a word and a very dissatisfied face. After that, when we asked the staff to bring the cake out, they simply put the cake in front of my mum without unboxing it. I understand they might need an extra fee to keep the cake (but they didn’t ask and we would love to pay if we had to). Foodwise, the meat is tasteless and the options are very limited. Overall, I don’t recommend anyone who wants to celebrate a birthday or has a high expectation to come. It is absolutely disappointing.

I chose to eat at his house on the first day of the new year in 2025. When I left, I left my headphone charging box in the store. Thanks to the waiter who found the money, the lady at the front desk and the monitor on the day were able to find it successfully. Not recommended to go though the price is not high. Few choices of food and the beef and lamb is not at very good quality. Service is not good too. Nobody will refill soup for you even they always pass by our table. The staff tidy up our table while we are still sitting there and not yet time to leave. So disturbing! The environment is not very good. The pot is so “deep” in the table that make us difficult to take out our food when cooked I will not go again in future.

We love the food here! We’ve been here several times. Our kids used to love the fried steamed buns, but we haven’t seen them both today and last time we’ve visited. It’s a bit disappointing for them. Hopefully, they’ll bring it back in the future!

Happy Lamb is hands down the best hot pot experience I’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The variety of fresh ingredients was incredible—everything from premium meats to fresh seafood and an amazing assortment of vegetables. Happy Lamb Birmingham is my to go place for an authentic Chinese hotpot. Food quality is one of the best for 'all you can eat' hotpot with a good varieties to choose from. Staff are very friendly, attentive and efficient. I will certainly come back for a good hotpot again.

Everything was good at the beginning. However, when they refilled the base soup (same broth for every type of soup) it was chicken broth. Even for the vegetable broth (that advice NOWHERE that they have meat inside), they also advice on google that they have vegan options. It is not. So good food. But would not recommend for vegetarians...

Today I went to Little Sheep Food for lunch with some friends. First of all, the ingredients are not as fresh as before, such as shrimp, chicken, etc., but the mutton and beef are still up to standard. However, it is convenient and slow to replenish food. You have to talk to the manager directly. Half an hour after the talk, some fresh food was brought out. In addition, today there are seven of us in the dining room. The order is only allowed to be two plates of meat at a time. The waiter talked to us and reminded us not to waste food when we eat. In fact, if We all know that there is a fine for wasting food. I think it is more convenient to use QR code to place orders, and I hope they can improve it.

Delicious! During lunch time, I tasted the delicious self-service fire. It is rare to find such an outstanding restaurant in the UK. The food is of high quality (except for soda). It was my first experience with Hot Pot and it was far less overwhelming than I expected! Happy Lamb make it really simple as there are just all you can eat options - the regular and the upgraded choice. We went for the upgraded choice to really indulge in our first experience and it didn't disappoint - we got really lovely meats (and plenty of them!) and the unlimited buffet and extra meats/seafood/veggies and unlimited sauces were fantastic! We were so so full up afterwards and the broths were very tasty. However, I can totally see this being super confusing for people who aren't familiar with the concept of hotpot. The staff didn't really explain anything to us at all, and there isn't anything on the tables explaining the process to us, and not any cooking times for the meats or anything. We were lucky we prepared and did our research!

10/10. Just make sure the fizzy drinks are fizzy! Please diversify your desserts. We like flat noodles for the hot pot. Thanks. Staff 10/10

Everything is self help and there is a wide range of hotpot foods to choose from. Various meats, vegetables and seafood. Definitely worth the price if you alone or if you bring friends with you.

The hygienic situation has been worrying since it was converted to self-service! I went to eat last Saturday and there was a long hair on the plate. I told the waiter and he acted like he didn't see it and was completely speechless! Won't go again

This was my first time trying hot pot, and hopefully won't be my last! The nourishing chicken broth was delicious. Staff were helpful and attentive. We didn't think we'd need the full 1 hour 45 minute time that you get, but had such a good time that we stayed until the limit!

It’s been a long time since I’ve had authentic Dabianlu. It has black cypress leaves, pig reds, various types of mushrooms, meatballs, and beef and sheep. They are all delicious. The price of £20 is considered ok
