Happy House Take Away in Richmondshire

This is hands down the worst takeaway we’ve ever been to. The fact that at 7pm on a Saturday night the takeaway had all but 1 person waiting said it all. Every meal in our party (4 of us) all disliked our meal and couldn’t eat it. Chicken fried rice for me was literally boiled rice and rubbery cheap pieces of chicken. No egg, no flavour. Sweet and sour chicken was difficult to finish for 2 of our party. Too tangy, not sweet. Shame as it was our first time but really wouldn’t rate.

Absolutely great. Staff very friendly and great service. Best Chinese takeaway within a 15 mile radius. Exceptionally good lemon chicken and beef curry

The beef curry was insipid and the meat tasted off. The bbq ribs were not much better, the chicken in sauce was very soft where it should have been crispyish, the chow mein was ok. All in all very poor quality, i rang and told them and they offered a free replacement, but sorry - don't serve bad food in the first place.

Haven’t used Happy House for years, but decided to try it tonight. Ordered 2 house special chow mein’s, chips curry sauce and prawn crackers. Wow the food was delicious and piping hot. We were really impressed and will definitely be going back!

Decided to give it a go as there was a sign there saying “under new management” we ordered Crispy Shredded Beef in Peking Sauce, Special Curry, Salt and Pepper Spare Ribs and Plain Chow Mein (Large) food really good quality and in my opinion best in the Catterick area. Have tried them all since White Shoos closed in 2020. So give it a try. We will be going back. Plus for our order I would say about £3-4 cheaper than the others.

Exceptional £32 for meal for four. Everything was tasty and cooked well. Everyone was happy Starters spring rolls we dipped In Hoisin sauce at home Obviously 4 main courses and 4 rice. Best Lemon Chicken ever

Cold chow mein with hardly any noodles, watery at the bottom and tasteless. The chicken balls were foul and felt like biting into a bouncy ball. £45 for two chow meins, chickens balls, chips and pepper chicken. All absolutely HONKING

TERRIBLE FOOD...£25 for half portions and they forgot the chips ... DO NOT ORDER ITS RUBBISH .. always order a large everything becos the portions are for kids

Service weren’t too bad and I don’t like leaving a bad review but the food was awful. Chicken ‘balls’ aren’t even balls and the worst tasting chicken balls I’ve had. I ordered Singapore chow mien, chicken in black bean sauce and chicken balls. In the black bean sauce there were like little bits of jelly or something.. spent 15 quid and couldn’t finish half a plate.. very disappointed

Food was tasteless. All sauces were watery and dishes tasted like they had been cooked in dish water. Total waste of money.

Very shocked! Ordered £8.00 1/4 duck, reasonable price for crispy duck, what I got was not crispy and was 3/4 fat, I had a full portion of fat and enough duck to fill one pancake with cucumber in it as well. The part that was duck was soggy and tasteless, we got a curry which was just watery with basically half an onion piece, rude service from the man, woman there is very nice though

We picked this take away as a last minute choice whilst in the area on holiday, and wish we hadn’t. The menu is very extensive, but really that was the only plus point. The food was very greasy and the sauces were extremely thin, almost watery. The portions were large, but then they were packed out with onions. We were hugely disappointed with the overall quality. I would personally avoid at all costs.

Picked up a takeaway as staying locally. Food was excellent and very good quantities. Fresh ingredients and well cooked. Prob best Chinese takeaway we have had for a long time. Staff could do with smiling a bit more as they seem quite miserable and establishment could do with having some money spent on it but don’t let either of those things put you off as they food was faultless.

As it is Chinese New Year My wife and I thought we would celebrate with a Chinese Meal. We normally go into Richmond for this but thought we would give Happy House take-away a go. I am so glad we did as it was probably the best Chinese take-away we had ever had. We had three main dishes with rice, noodles and prawn crackers. Each of these dishes were superb. The King prawns really lived up to their name - they were huge. The lemon chicken was very lemony but not oversweet as it is from some other Chinese kitchens. The young man behind the counter was very friendly and we had an intelligent conversation ranging from the problems surrounding Brexit to the history of Happy House and his father's opening of it many years ago. It is still run by the family. I hope that they do well and prosper in this age of uncertainty, they really do deserve to. I thoroughly reccomend anybody who is in the Catterick Garrison area to give then a try - I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised. Cliff Bowes

Every time I buy food from this take away, always gets more deli and deli. The best thing of this place is the taste and good food.

Collected a takeaway from Happy House as I'd had a lhong day at work, couldn't be bothered cooking and wanted to treat myself to something special. Well...... the large spring roll starter was just a blob that was sat in about 1cm of dark well used cooking oil. It was so submerged that there was no crispness left. I managed about half of the filling before I had to admit defeat (I was hungry and am NOT a fussy eater). I couldn't even contemplate the greasy outer. My main was spicy Mongolian mixed meats. It was spicy..... very spicy. This is ok for me as I like spicy but could be far too much for most people. Apart from the spiciness the chef managed to get the only flavour to be the taste of prawns that had been frozen too long and had acquired that musty freezer taste. Chicken, beef, king prawn, veg etc....... none of it tasted of anything at all! How can anyone make something with so many ingredients taste of so little? I was looking for somewhere to become my occasional/regular takeaway but my menu is in the bin and I'll never eat here again.

We always enjoy the food from his takeaway. It is cooked super quick and really good prices. I like trying different dishes here but love schezuan chicken. Hubby loves chicken fried rice especially as they don’t put peas in! Only disadvantage is it’s cash only so have to remember to get some before going in!

this takeaway is one of my fav in the town. I take food from here quote often and never disapppointed.

We use this place when the wife fancies chinese and we have never had a bad meal. Excellent choice and very reasonable prices.

Orders over the phone can be collected within 15 minutes. Hot, tastes lovely and would recommend. Not greasy and the BBq sauce is to die for.
