New Treasure Garden in Richmondshire

We haven't been for a while as since owners changed we have felt the food was just not as good. However we picked up a takeaway last night and it was in a different league. the food was amazing. Fresh, tasty, good ingredients. Lets hope this is the way forward. I hope local people try this place again as we did - as all the restaurants in Richmond need the support of locals.

We visited in Midweek. The waitress and especially Timothy was so nice nothing was too much for them both. Timothy was very attentive and looked after us really well.The food for both of us was spot on (couldn’t fault it in any way) and when we visit Richmond again we will definitely be back.

New owners now established Same menu great quality food. Prices still in special occasion category. Nice staff.

Come here on Wednesday night for a meal with a friend which got busy quickly they waa the owner and another waitress, we ordered our mains and i ordered some crispy spring rolls which come out quickly but was burnt and for £6.70 i thought they would of been homemade which was a-bit disappointing. My friends meal come out when i finished my starter but mine was no where to be seen i waited another 40 minutes for my food to come out , by then my friend had finished hers. The main courses were beautiful which we throughly enjoyed but the service was really slow, more staff is needed for sure on a busy night. hopefully this is just a one off. I would return.

We come annually to Richmond and were worried about recent reviews of this restaurant. It’s been one of the many highlights of our visit in recent years. It’s the only place I know outside o London that serves deep fried oysters for example. We need not have worried, the food and service were spot on. Thanks for keeping up the standards and we look forward to seeing you again.

Terrible food, went for an evening meal in the restaurant. We love Chinese food and I can honestly say this is the worst I have ever had. Can’t believe it has 4.5 on trip advisor??? Lots of amazing restaurants in Richmond, but definitely not this one.

It was terrible food and service. I have never been so upset or disgusted with a restaurant. We went to pay the bill and I gave them a minim tip for the disgusting food. The waitress stood at our table after we paid demanding for money for a tip. I will make sure that everyone knows how horrible it was . I thought it would be nice to try something new for Mother’s Day with my mother in law that was my mistake. I hope that extra $5.00helps cause I will make sure that everyone knows how awful it is there

Stopped here for a take away whilst on holiday in the area. The food was really tasty and well priced. Ordered over the phone with no issues. Would go back and recommend. Parking outside is tight but it is very close to the town square where you can park in the evening, day time is permit only.

Went here for my grandmothers 85th birthday and was intially greeted by a grumpy waitress however she redeemed herself when she realised we were here for a bday celebration. Couldn’t fault the food and in the end was a night well had!

I wanted Chinese and talked my husband into it and so glad we did, the food was amazing and the staff are great, we had crispy duck to start and veg and bean sprout chow Mein and spicy crispy chicken and it was one of the best I have ever eaten

Visited for a takeaway for a family get-together. It was a large order and there were some incorrect and missing items, despite staff reading back and confirming the order on the telephone prior to collection. The food was generally disappointing. Not likely to return.

Plenty of vegetarian options made with bean curd or mock chicken/duck. Only one vegetarian starter- spring rolls. Delicious bean sprout noodles. Relaxed vibe.

We had a fantastic takeaway from here last night, bonus points for being the only Chinese takeaway in the town open on a Monday. it was great that we could order and pay through their website as we didn't have a menu or cash to hand. All 4 of us ordered different things and we were all really happy with our dishes. Great flavour and great quality food. I would definitely get takeaway from here again.

Tried here last night on a weekend away. Crispy duck pancakes are to die for and all food was really tasty and cooked to perfection!

New to the area this is the second time I've ate here. The first time was lovely but not sure what happened tonight the chicken satay skewers were salty and came dry with a small pot of an unusual thick paste sauce, the chicken fried rice was unfortunately the worst rice I've ever had. The chicken balls were semi burnt and the prawn crackers were tasteless. Won't eat here again!

Thought it must be under new management. We went for tea, waited ages for food. The kitchen apparently lost our order, the food wasn’t good and on leaving I felt unwell, stopped the car to be sick. The takeaway took priority and the restaurant was neglected 😢

Takeaway service- very poor ordered online sat for over 40 minutes After arranged collection time!!! Which was half an hour after the food was ordered via online service. One customer was offered drinks ( alcohol two pints and he was driving!) while waiting but no one else! Won’t order online again. Visited the restaurant two weeks ago- food is good but again waited a long time then too.

We were warmly welcomed on our first visit this evening & were impressed by the extensive menu. We enjoyed a generous sharing starter which was delicious followed by a main meal. Look forward to returning 😊 xx

Food was very bland nothing we ate had any taste, reasonable cost but wouldn’t return.

If I could give a zero I would, this is the worst Chinese food I have ever had, absolutely disgusting. It seems to have been old food that has been left for days and re heated, the ribs were rock hard and dry, the chicken balls we covered in an old soggy batter and covered in crust of thick salt, the food was was not edible. I would avoid this place at all costs. I called to complain and the lady on the phone was polite but just said she’d let the manager know. I would also like to add the pictures shown on the reviews are nothing like the food that was delivered I’m not sure if most of these reviews are fake.

Terrible service and management. Would be 0 star if possible. We arrived at 5:30PM (opening time) and our mains arrived (after many reminders) after 9PM. It took them an hour for drinks after being seated and another hour for starters and roughly another 2 hours for mains. They kept prioritising take-away orders and other smaller tables (other dine-in tables also looked annoyed waiting but they were still served before us even though we were first to arrive there). We were there from opening time to closing time on 27/12. The starters were just too salty and the mains were mostly terrible too. The only food we can recommend after ordering over £500 of food and drinks were the crispy duck. "King Prawn Chow mein (dry)" was covered in sauce and bean sprout. Some of our food never arrived and when we explained when trying to pay the bill, they kept making excuses and didnt want to take it off the bill. e.g. we ordered 2 bowls of rice and only got 1 and they said they "put both orders into 1 bowl" We ended up paying over £500 for 15 people for terrible food and a long night. Never coming back here and will be sharing our experience with others.

this is our second visit here in a week food was OUTSTANDING DELICIOUS & full of flavour staff were SOOO Nice & friendly had to come back for a second visit for a takeaway on my birthday on Friday in the same week. what a lovely atmosphere & staff so attentive and Friendly. Back in the Dales once again, travelled 7 miles to get my usual take-a-way, REALLY nice food here, probably more expensive than my normal place so that's my only down-side. Otherwise all good .. ahh. No Delivery though.. think this wouls6benefit it it did..

When Eva snd Eddy had this restaurant it was always brilliant. Sadly it is now under new ownership. Our visit on Sunday was dreadful. We had spent two days trying to phone to book and realise now that with one staff member running take away and restaurant - the phone is not answered It is on line take away which seems very busy whilst the restaurant was neglected. Two people walked out after waiting for ages to get even a menu and drinks order The young lady serving spent all her time saying sorry. No food warmers. Cold bowls which has stood uncovered and incredibly unwelcoming The food was mediocre in taste and sadly all 3 of us were unwell during the night We will not return

The poor waitress had far too much to do on her own so service was very slow! Sat down for a quarter past six an ordered set meal for four, we eventually left at quarter to nine, shame as the food wasn't bad,just not enough staff.

Had a takeaway. Very high quality food. Fantastic veggie and vegan options (vegan chicken fried rice was amazing). Lovely veg dish with garlic and black pepper and my partner enjoyed Char-siu pork.

Truly delicious food for our fixed meal for 2 - the best in memory in a Chinese Restaurant actually with super-fast service for each course. This restaurant has recently got extra staff to help with service and we noticed how quick the service is here and it was quite busy too. The food was "out of this world" - Food was cooked & served in minimal time. We had Prawn Crackers / Dip with the most delicious Crispy Duck with Pancakes that I have ever tasted - We could not believe how good this dish was ! ( Shredded by a most kind / beautiful server ) and then we had shared beef in black bean sauce and seszhwan dish followed by Lychie desert / citrus fruits - EVERYTHING was so perfect and we will be 100% be returning soon - Thank You to such wonderful staff for their excellence.

Food 5/5. We had a seaweed, soups and the main. The vegetarian sweet and sour dish was so delicious - honesty best I ever had - they used cashew nuts. Would definitely love to eat there again

Just fancied a Chinese and as we were on holiday with our dogs it had to be a take away. Food was delicious and quickly prepared. Best prawn toast and prawn crackers we've ever had.

Friends and I had a fabulous meal last night. It was the best Chinese food that I've ever had. Crispy chicken balls, which were large chunks of chicken with the perfect amount of batter, no stodge. Everyone's selections were just perfect. The service was grand and I will definitely go back. Thank you 😊

The worst dining experience ever! One member of our party was served her meal, and some rice and noodles were put on table but that meal was finished before two more meals came. Two hours after we had ordered, the rest of the party's food arrived! Celebration meal totally ruined! Galling to watch tables around eating and leaving and takeaways going out while we waited. Only after several complaints did we get some service. The waitresses seemed oblivious of the fact that most of our party had no food! The food was very nice when it came, but by that time our evening was spoiled. An apology could not make up for the appalling service.

Lovely meal, set meal for 6, nice variety and all fresh. Service good, they apologised for slow service due to lack of staff, but it wasnt noticable. Really lovey people, keen to please.

Special curry with fried rice. Paid over £12, this is almost 50% more than i usually pay for this dish, curry was watery, confirmed by my partner who ordered the same, the rice came in a traditional foil tub, the curry came in the plastic tub, this tub wasn't the normal size, it was the shallow tub usually used for rice. Watery curry, small portion, totally in it for the money. Would have only gave it One star but the service came with a smile. Honest review.

This was the 2nd order that was of a very poor standard, the chicken contrary to what they are saying is of a jelly consistency and is definitely not chicken breast, phoned to complain and because we paid in cash they said they could not find the receipt and were unwilling to refund, will definitely not order for a 3rd time. Do not order from this restaurant!!

Last minute booked and they fitted us in. Wow amazing place. Warm welcome on arriving showed to table straight away. Lots to choose from, from set menu for two ect to individual dishes. From start to finish food was beautifully presented to tasting delicious. Was quite busy only two serving staff and I think the lady was the owner, up and down clearing table, showing guests to table, serving food. Had to wait at one point for drinks so orders two lots. Other than that staff so polite When in Richmond again we will be returning

Expensive set meal for 2 . Not told could change main meal . Soup nice but warm . Crispy duck charred. Main meal both to spicy . Was asked if all was OK said no . Nothing said . Was asked again when paid said no . Not satisfied with any of meal . Asked had it got new owners Was told no . Looking at other reviews this Not true. When walking out of restaurant could hear the rude staff laughing. All I can say is no wonder it was empty

Got the set menu for 2. Very polite and food came quickly. Would rate food as ok, however when the restaurant started to get busy it seemed they struggled with service. We waited over 45 minutes for our dessert and in the end decided not to bother and just got the bill. When we told them we didn't get dessert the manager/main waitress still expected us to pay the full set menu price however we said that we would not. It was only the young waitress that then reduced the bill by £5. We won't return.

We called at this restaurant as we were passing through Richmond. Having seen the latest reviews we were not expecting much. However we were very pleasantly surprised it was superb. Friendly staff fast service and great food. There was a constant stream of customers collecting takeaways. The tables were all reserved in the restaurant so does seem to be popular. Advise you to book Friday and Saturday evening

Visit this place every year when we come to Richmond. It's getting some negative reviews as under new management but we found the food and service all excellent. Will definitely return and recommend to anyone

Ordered a takeaway tonight, big order nearly £60 which is more than we normally spend, and usually there would be plenty left over afterwards. This evenings order was really small and everyone was left hungry! And like others have said, the 10% discount has also been scrapped so even worse value for money, food was pleasant enough but portions really small compared to what they used to be like. Sadly unlikely to return now as New Treasure Garden is the most expensive Chinese around and sadly no longer the best.

The food was very nice, the staff were polite, jts a great place. Sadly they needed to take our order twice but this was due to a new member of staff so that is fine we all have to learn. We ordered the set meal for 3 and they forgot one of the main courses, when you have a set meal for 3, this can happen I guess. We asked and they brought it after we had finished so it was no use, but they put it in a box to take home, so that was fine. They also forgot the dessert so we did not get that either. Although no discount was given we were given some cookies to say sorry, so that was fine too.. due to this I remove 1 star but still give 4, well done guys, a great place to eat.

I was a worker and i can tell you now that there’s rats in the kitchen and the way my manger spoke to me was very disrespectful and im not being rude when i say this but the amount of dirty looks i got when i was working there was unbelievable

I’ve eaten here for 15+ years. It has gone dramatically downhill since new ownership. Service this evening was shocking. Waited 25 mins before ordering drinks! Food was a long wait, cold, and incorrect on arrival, won’t be rushing back unfortunately as this was a favourite restaurant of mine.

The food is great however we have been waiting 45 minutes past the order time we had be given we ordered at 5:30 to collect for 6:45 at the time of writing this it’s now 7:30 so if you want to wait in the shop for 45 minutes past the time you have been given then wait for the food However they are taking the mick making you wait that long for food So I don’t know if it’s worth the 2hour wait with no discount what do ever wouldn’t recommend for the wait

Brilliant food and superb service

We hadn’t booked but arrived before 6pm and were seated quickly. The staff arrive from 6pm onwards and it became very busy as it doubles as a takeaway. Locals use this restaurant regularly and the couple next to us received their food before we did....

Service was good, food was average however we are spoiled for high quality Chinese food in our home area.

Really enjoyed the food. The staff did seem quite new and unsure of what they were doing.

Excellent food great service and value for the money

Best takeaway in the area and some of the best Chinese food I’ve ever had. Favourites include the salt and pepper chicken, sweet and sour chicken, beef in black bean sauce and vermicelli.

Unbelievable service and food, we turned up late and though we wouldn’t get any food but they made us welcome and give the best Chinese food I’ve ever tasted and afterwards we chatted the the mother and daughter for ages, keep up the good work

We called and booked at the last minute and they fitted us in. Very good food, gin and beer choices limited but it is a restaurant not a bar. Excellent food, one of the best we have been to. Would go again and would recommend.

Ordered S&S Chicken and the chicken tasted burnt, plus the Singapore Vermicelli wasn't very spicy. Also ordered a portion of curry which was very watered down and the chips very well done. Have eaten from here previously and it was lovely but tonight it was very poor... And it wasn't even a busy night (Thursday).
