Hanks Sandwich Bar in Edinburgh, City of

I visited Hanks to get my breakfast on the way to work. My colleagues are regulars here so I thought I'd give it a try. I was able to get my potato scone rolls which were very nice but they didn't have any mint tea. I had to go elsewhere for that which was a bit disappointing. Other than that it was good.

Words can’t explain what our experience was at this restaurant. You just need to go and experience it for yourself. P.S.: Best coleslaw I’ve ever had in my life.

This was a truly life changing experience, it was the most beautiful sandwich I've even eaten and quite frankly made my day. Thank you hanks 🫡

Small cute place. Friendly staff. Really nice food options. You can eat in, there’s a few seats. The Reuben……get this……honestly, hands down THE BEST sandwich I’ve had in my life so far (age 44)….even better than New York deli sandwiches.

Better sandwiches than in some fancy restaurants from Edinburgh centre. Very tasty salads (you can mix a sandwich with a side salad)

Easily the best sandwich shop in the city! Went along one Saturday morning and took a breakfast roll, and a Rubens Sub for later on the the day. Breakfast roll was freshly prepared in no time and was shocked that it was double portions of my order, so the roll was massive! Very tasty I must say! My Ruben was also excellent when I had that later on in the day. All in all, while you may have a wait (as it does get very busy) it is worth it for some great food at really low prices.

I recently visited Hanks Sandwich Bar and had a pleasant experience. The food was delicious, and the prices were reasonable. The staff was friendly and the shop was clean. Overall, it's a great place to grab a bite to eat without breaking the bank

I stayed in the MyCity apartments just behind Hanks and stumbled across this gem on the first morning. Had a breakfast roll with sausage, bacon and haggis which was so good! So good I got my sandwich for lunch here which was also amazing! Friendly staff and great food. Came back both days for breakfast and lunch. You’d be hard pushed to find a better sandwich in town!

We came across hanks on our stay at the moxy Hotel, we hadn't included breakfast in our package so we were only delighted to get breakfast on the go from Hanks. 1 roll with bacon and black pudding, 1 roll with steak Lorne and black pudding 2 very happy customers. Great value for money.

The most friendly staff that you could meet. Delicious breakfast bap. Affordable , quick , convenient and would definitely return here. Keep up the great work Hank!

Lovely sandwich bar in Haymarket Edinburgh. Superb choice in baguettes, paninis etc Lovely lady called Tracy served me and gave me directions for a local butcher. Place was busy which proves how popular it is.

Really good sandwich, very friendly. Large selection, all sorts of stuff. And hit the coffee cave next door, excellent espresso.

I tried their cinnamon buns and was impressed. A little too much on the sweet side for my taste, but they are incredibly light and airy in texture. That they come at a very reasonable price and with a friendly service can only help.

Understandably Hanks had a little wobble when it was taken over. I am happy to confirm that it is now back to its very best. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the menu is reassuringly short and the quality of food is 10/10. Only criticism is that the queuing is a little haphazard and the wait times are perhaps a minute or two longer than you would hope. These things don't take away from what is a tremendous lunch.

Oh my god. Saw the place while getting out of the hotel, was not very hungry but we fancied a sandwich. 2 panini ham & cheese sandwiches absolutely gorgeous. And the salad on the side yummmmy! Was expecting a cherry tomato with leaves salad but no. A mixture of veggies pasta salad with amazing sauce, for 60p extra. A steeeal!

Great food which is presented well and is fantastic value for money - we use Hanks for office events where they made up great lunch packs for all dietary needs - brilliant, would highly recommend.

We have used Hanks twice now and had totally different meals and both have been excellent. They seamlessly catered for vegetarian, meat, gluten free and vegan without any stress at all. They are now our caterer of choice.

Recently had the pleasure of eating a sandwich selection from Hanks accompanied by a generous portion of cheesecake. Both were amazing! Definitely don't miss out if in the area.

I have just had my mind blown with the sandwiches here. Completely unexpected and wonderful. Chicken Katzu flatbread or Korean beef with Kimchi. Well worth the diversion for lunch. Well done to the owners and team there... really really good

Along the road from my hotel so went on way to train. Staff take your name when you order which makes such a difference to the experience, much more personal and gives the feeling that they know you. Fantastic food also, had the panini and it was great. Will be back

Hanks Sandwich Bar estaba a una corta distancia a pie de la salida del hotel, así que decidimos probarlo. Es un lugar muy pequeño con un par de asientos en la barra y un par de mesas afuera. Es estupendo para la comida para llevar. Volvería de nuevo.

Always enjoy what I buy from Hank's be it some cool sounding toastie, Panini and/or their array of salads. Shame they are closed for the best part of July!

Stopped here for my morning coffee. I ordered a latter. A good strong flavour coffee however they only do one size and I felt it was small compared to other places.

Ein kleiner sehr familiärer Sandwich Laden nahe Fountainbridge. Nebst Sandwiches gibt es sehr leckere, jeweils frisch zubereitete Salate, aber auch Suppen und Vegetarische Menüs. Hat nur über Mittag geöffnet. Ist als Take-Away gedacht, bietet jedoch auch 3 Plätze für eat-in.

Uno de mis compañeros de trabajo última semana me trajeron un sandwich de Hanks, pero esto era mucho más que un simple sándwich - fue genial y era una variación de "Queso de Phili Steak" que incluía dos ensaladas fantásticas. Bueno, me decidí a visitar en persona hoy, en esta ocasión tuvimos la Bombay Sanwich" que estaba delicioso cordero sanos currys con servido en un pan plano en forma y luego tuestan y acompañados por dos ensaladas todo por £4.50 . Esta es una excelente comida y frescos y excelentes precios. Recomendaría altamente Hanks, sin duda lo regular

Went into this place expecting to get standard bacon rolls and saw two delicious looking toasted sandwiches, honestly couldn't tell you what it was when i ordered it but just had to have it! One turned out to be an amazing pulled pork and cheese panini type thing while the other was chicken, avocado concoction! Amazing I'll be returning here for sure!

Me and my partner have just moved in to the area and on the rare occasion that we get a day off together one of us take the dog out and gets lunch usually a wee sandwich place like this one, we will not be going anywhere else now! Great choice, sandwiches and salads and really nice staff. We will have to walk a little further and past a couple of other sandwich places but its so worth it!

One of my work colleagues told me to venture down to Hanks for lunch one day, and although it is a wee walk from my office, I was not disappointed! There is an amazing selection of food with specials of the day, fresh healthy salads, lots of panini options and quick and friendly service. I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a new lunch hang out!

We were passing and so we decided to lunch at Hanks. The food was delicious, all sorts of very different salads, soup, frittata etc, served in a cardboard box ( the soup was in a cup) and so easy to eat in or out. We sat at the bar in the window which was fine, there is a real buzz about the place. I would definitely recommend a visit to Hanks.

I've been going to Hanks for the last 2 years! The food is amazing, staff friendly and reasonably priced. Every day is a surprise with a different item on the menu. The salads are great. Nothing is too much of a hassle. The owner is a friendly lady who knows customers by name and has great chat. Everyone in the office loves Hanks so much so that we have them provide catering to our office.

Hanks is a brilliant sandwich bar. The menu changes daily and offers delicious fresh options. The salads, soups , wraps etc are all fresh, healthy and inventive. There are always new flavours on offer -great combinations and Thai, Vietnamese and other exotic influences as well as more traditional options if you prefer. Great value and the staff are always friendly and helpful. The shop is modern and spotless. Can't recommend this place highly enough. We've also used the office delivery service for a working lunch and it was excellent.

In Edinburgh there sometimes feels that there is a lack of wholesome yet delicious food. If this is what you are after then look no further than Hanks. The salads are so different and yummy. Its a treat to eat them but you feel like you're giving your body a treat too.

My trips to hanks are the highlight of my week. The slightly 'off piste' food offerings are sublime. I also believe that they are value for money given that everything comes with 2 salad choices( themselves exceedingly tasty)It's a bit if a hike for me to get there but worth it every time

Best place to go for lunch in the west side of Edinburgh. The choices of wraps, flatbreads etc are unusual and always tasty. The accompanying salads are amazing and the broccoli, bacon and pine nuts salad is to die for!!! Look forward to my weekly lunch there.

If, like me, a regular Tesco lunch leaves you feeling guilty at the processed rubbish you've just consumed, you can do a lot worse than Hanks in Fountainbridge. Food is always fresh and the menu ever changing, and while they offer a traditional made to order selection, the main attraction is the daily specials. Without fail I'll eat a different thing every day, but you can expect things like Vietnamese pork wrap, chicken and pesto panini, lamb flatbreads or chorizo Spanish omelette. All are served with delicious salads, again changing regularly.My only gripe is that they close on local holidays when the local offices don't, which means a trip back to the dreaded Tesco...
