A very beautiful location, the food is tasty, I was pleasantly surprised by the waiter, a blonde girl, with her respect for the customers and for me, which made me order something more and stay longer in this superb restaurant! A tiny cafe attached to the reception lobby of a hotel almost as an afterthought. Very few seats, cramped. Tiniest of washrooms shared with the hotel lobby. Only two other customers at that time. But do ensure you reserve at other times. It is very popular and you will not find a table in the evenings I am sure. I was told the place has a penalty of £ 10 per customer if you dont turn up after reserving. A very simple small menu . A few drinks ,starters mains and desserts. Basically Indian food with twists. Very small portions for the price. Service good and prompt but could have more joie de vivre ....... Food exceptional. Brilliant actually . Beautifully presented Starters : Sweet potato bomb starter delicious with jaggery and chilli jam adding a kick. Very innovative Never heard of Bhel with okra but well done Dahi Bhalla toppings superb, but the "vada" itself tasteless Pani Puri ( Gol Gappas ) : just outstanding MAINS Tarragon Paneer salan outstanding with the padron peppers and walnuts. OUtstanding creamy rich gravy . Lassooni sag with spinach and kohlrabi also very good, large crunchy pieces of garlic Black lentil daal well done , as expected Roomali rotis large and good, not exceptional., there is only so much you can do with a roti So called tawa pulao was a disappointment. No flavour or spice, basically plain rice in disguise . Did not have drinks. The food quality gets it a rating of very good. If rating is just for food, just outstanding, well worth a visit in spite of the small quantities and the prices .

Been here twice and both times fortunately for me it was empty (it was early) but pleased to see so many people rate this place highly. Had a hankie (roti bread) rice and the lamb mince curry with chicken livers. Followed this up with a fantastic chocolate, berry ice cream and caramel sauce worthy of a fine dining restaurant. Stumbled across this little street food cafe whilst staying across the road in China Town. I would have eaten here every night if we had t already made plans 😀 Doesn’t look much from the outside and the menu isn’t huge but the food was amazing. We wanted just a light supper so had the little set dinner at £15 each…one chicken dish one Vege Kofta…both came with Roti, salad, raita and Dahl..absolutely lovely…combination of flavours and spicing some of the best I’ve had. My husband, I and our three young children ate at Hankies on a busy Saturday night. We were welcomed in and given a table immediately (without a reservation). The staff were very attentive when it came to serving us. Rohit was our personal waiter who was very friendly (he even helped my son when he tripped over), on point with taking our order and recommending dishes. The saag was excellent (and we’ve eaten at many restaurants), the butter chicken tasty if you like a slightly sweeter dish and the peanut prawns were something we hadn’t tried before. We were offered desserts on the house for our children and another member of staff showed us exactly how to get home using his phone which was so very helpful. It was so nice for our children to be given such a friendly service. Overall a lovely, cosy place with tasty food, nice music and helpful staff.

I’ve been here with my mother this evening(10/09/21) we were amused by the place , the best things was the Japanese wooden walls which left us impressed . We are not really to much into Indian food but we were walking around and decided to give it a shot and we don’t regret it at all! The food was amazing and the service was quick and efficient , a big shoutout to roit ( I don’t know if the name is spelled good) and alessandro which served us and make us feel at home talking with us in Italian and proposing us the best combination of dishes Can’t wait to come back to try different dishes and to check if roit Italian has improved , thanks again for the wonderful experience .

Came here on Friday and the place was quiet, served by the manager Alessandro we couldn’t be more happy with this superb Indian food from the kofta to the prawns and the black pepper tikka. Alessandro was attentive throughout the service making sure we were alright, definitely a place to come back. Thank you very much and we ll be back very soon .

Having walked past earlier in the day I looked it up on the internet and decided to eat there in the early evening. It was quite quiet, I think 2 couples in the small restaurant. No draught beer despite several being listed on the menu, so settled for a bottle of beer and water (I can't remember if they provided tap water or I had to pay for a bottle, sorry!). Drinks v slow to arrive, and the member of staff who took my order seemed to be chatting with friends for some time before bringing me my drinks (which were ready sitting behind the bar). Food order prompt and v good, I had a roomali roti, the minced lamb (keema matar) and the black lentil stew (hankies dal). Food v good, quite pricey for fairly small portions, but perfectly adequate. I'm hovering between 3* and 4*, but will give 4* because of the quality of the food. Better service would mean 5*.

I visit Hankies with another 3 friends and we could not have left the place with such a good feelings. We have an argentinan boy as waiter (do not remember his name, sorry) and he was an absolutely gentleman serving us. Guiding us through the menu, checking on us during dinner and also recommended us. Atmosphere was so relaxing and delight, the restaurant is gorgeous. Def we are coming back soon and we will recommend you.
