Excellent quality food, fast service and affordable prices.

Wet soggy fish in not much better batter ,the chips weren't nice and very greasy. Ate these a couple of hrs ago,had dodgy guts since... As a regular visitor to matlock Bath I won't be going here again....

Chips looked and tasted like they were cooked yesterday, fish cake was bang on though, staff were polite and friendly. People come to Matlock over and over again, you aren't gonna get repeat business if you food quality isn't great, portion sizes are too small and is too expensive.

One of the worst fish and chips I have ever eaten. The batter was rubbery and hard and the chips were inedible. I wouldn’t mind but we waited for the food to be cooked fresh and it still wasn’t great

Disapointed with portions for what they charge, explained why this one had seating empty when others were full. Chips nice but missing that want more feeling. Were going back to matlock on weekend as part of a 600 plus scooter ride in, I think we will be visiting another chippy then.

Overpriced, fish was soggy, mushy peas were undercooked and to top it off its cash only. Im really not sure how they can sell food for the price they do as the standard they deliver. Try some of the other places guys and save your money.

Possibly the worst chips we have ever had to CHEW on. These chips must have been cooked the day before, they were hard, old, burnt and tasteless. Even a 6 year old wouldn't eat them!! Cash ONLY in today's world thats strange and smells a bit fishy. On the up side the unbattered sausage was OK and the lady that served us was polite.

Just the worst. Disinterested staff, more interested in chatting than welcoming and serving customers, rip off prices for drinks, cash only (hmm) and the worst chips and bread roll I’ve ever had. The bread was stale and ‘buttered’ with the cheapest margarine, and the chips were rock hard. This place is clearly for tourists because there’s no way anyone local would eat here.

This place is ok but no better. On a street where there is plenty of choice, here you get ok food in very small portions for prices that seem slightly higher than nearby establishments. Next time we visit I will try elsewhere.

Best chippy in Derbyshire. Staff are friendly. Food delicious. 10/10 recommend a visit if you’re in Matlock Bath.

Tend to always visit here when we come. Tried somewhere else last time but returned this time. Great value, for the mini fish deal - it always fills me up. Fish was cooked to perfection however judging by the chips, they’re due an oil change. Didn’t really reduce the quality of the meal though. :)

The batter was so hard it broke the fork!!!! The chips still had the skins on which had started to go to seed. Took them back and got more. Within an hour threw up on way home. No wonder there were very few people in but KOSTAS had a queue out the door. Lesson learned for next time 🙄🙄🙄🙄.

£8 for a very small chips, chips curry and fish cake.. very dry and unpleasant.. will not recommend to anyone. Will not be going again .

Lovely fish and chip shop, it has an area inside and out to sit, it was busy when we called in, all food was cooked fresh as you waited and the staff brought it to you if you ordered something that was ready. Traditional Fish and Chip shop like I remember from my childhood. Gets a thumbs up from me.... Well done Hall's

Sorry but the best thing about my chips from here was the salt n vinegar.

Well i purchased 2 small chips in a tray to take out which arrived straight away.The man serving was pleasant and on his phone when we arrived. I thought the chips didnt look very fresh but took them anyway. What can i say but they were obviously warmed up in the fryer ,cooled off then left warmed again then cooled again for a while.They were vile.Dry, brittle, and snapped easily, just warm and left you with a greasy mouth. if i wouldve ate them probably wouldve snapped my teeth.Waste of money and ended up thrown in the Derwent.Taste of the waves are our faves and go to ( I advise all to go there before any others) but tried this chippy on the off chance.Never again Avoid really horrible.Lets hope the fish didnt choke on them.

Just bad ,uninterested staff , tiny portion of fish and chips . The fish looked rectangular in shape like out of a packet . It wasn’t unpleasant or particularly nice just terribly bland and badly presented .. won’t be back !!!

Absolute rip-off. The tiniest portion of chips I've ever seen from a chippy and I've eaten at a lot of chippys! Avoid this place and go to one of the other places.

Very good fish and chips and what a view

Took the kids here for some food after a day out. The fish was awful. It was dry and tasted old. The kids enjoyed their dinner but mine was bad. Also, cash only.

Very lovely food and staff was friendly

This is our go-to chippy when in Matlock Bath (we go around once a month). Always received decent food and service although on our last visit we did feel as though staff were not very happy, maybe they were having an off day.

Beautiful. Mini fish chips and peas and a cone of chips for about a 5er. Cannot go wrong. Amazing food, really good price (slightly small portions but for a quick light lunch, it's perfect) great location. You won't be disappointed

This was fabulous value for money great portions and freshly cooked cod and chips beautifully cooked no grease great taste , and the staff wonderful so very helpful and efficiency number one for service ,my family loved there meal and we most certainly will go there again couldn't asks for better please if your in the area go try for yourself . great will recommend anyone to try there fish and chips looking forward to when we can sit in and have the full meal with a cuppa

Nice chip shop, but very expensive and very small portions. Compared to other chip shops along the way, it's cheap-ish. Would recommended spending your money elsewhere. There was a decent selection to choose from though.

Went out for a trip from Nottingham in the morning Monday 1st June 20. Called in to this fish and chip shop minifish,chips,and peas £4 each. Absolutely beautiful fish skinless,and boneless. Gotta say the best fish I've ever tasted lovely and hot food and the staff were lovely. Will definately be back thank you

Spoiled for choice for chipshops in matlock. Chose here as it was the least busy and we wanted a seat outside with the dog. It was empty and the others all busy so was a little apprehensive but Fish and chips were both nice no complaints.

Worst chip shop ever, served us a frozen fish cake and was picking his teeth while handling our food with his hands. Staff were probably the worst I've ever encountered and ignorant. I had to ask 3 times for the table to be wiped and then they eventually gave it me to do myself. Also became ill from the curry sauce. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

excellent service at affordable prices, £3,80 mini fish + chips + any mix. fish is real cod skinless and bone less , plenty of seating inside and outside. customer toilet, ice cream soft drinks, tea and coffee. i always really enjoy my fish and chips here

Fish ok but chips like cardboard and odd colour

Lovely fish and chips cooked to perfection and such a good price, £3.50 for fish and chips with a choice of mushy peas, gravy, curry sauce or beans. Bargain! I was recommended this place by a man up the road who owns paddle boats, glad he recommended this place as I definetly left feeling satisfied.

Possibly the worse chip shop in the country. Nasty tough brown fish.
