Halfway House in Sevenoaks

Round table chipped and broken. Other tables sticky. Dirty chairs. Generally appeared to be Dirty and run down.

The Halfway House is truly a remarkable venue. The staff here are exceptionally friendly and attentive, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Recently, they introduced a delightful tapas menu, and we had the chance to sample their chicken tenders and sweet potato fries—both were outstanding. The pub boasts a well-curated selection of beers, and their wine list is particularly impressive. They have a great outdoor seating area and also show live sports on a number of screens in and out. Overall, it's a great pub with a lot to offer, making it well worth a visit.

Can't comment on the food, it was a good location for me as it wasn't far from the station, probably the sort of place you might pop into if you were shopping at LIDL.

I never leave reviews anywhere… but after my night at the Halfway House it would be rude not too! I was first greeted with very friendly bar staff and had a cold one in my hand in the space of 15 seconds, which for my fellow Brits is what we’re looking for! - Special Mentions: Ramon was fantastic and very patient with me and my mate (after a few drinks… which is not easy!) and I have to say he makes a mean baby Guinness too haha. But overall great pub, friendly people and they have games/activities to have a crack at as well all for free! Safe to say I found the location for the Euros - see you there 😎

Nice local pub with tvs to watch sports

Hired out the bottom bar for a surprise birthday party recently. Sam and Ramon were very helpful, up to and including the evening! Would highly recommend if you’re looking for a venue!

Halfway house is halfway good. Watching the steady decline of this pub in the last 30 years is quite sad. From a friendly family oriented establishment to an aggressive sports biased establishment. I wouldn't go here expecting a warm friendly environment from the clientele.

Bit too much of a sports pub for me. If you want a sports type bar then this is the place for you. Very clean and fresh inside and good selection of drinks.

Came in for a catch up with friends one evening recently. I was absolutely appalled by a member of staff that was claiming he was the manager, believe his name was James. He was throwing his weight around, rude to the staff working and also rude and very foul mouthed towards customers, certainly something you wouldn’t expect from a manager. We came in for food and a drink, but after seeing some food come out of the kitchen looking like it had been reheated and thrown together scruffily and overhearing a rowdy bunch at the bar saying the food was so overpriced that they’d be ordering a deliveroo to the pub, we decided to cut our losses and leave. We certainly won’t be coming back unfortunately as much as I want to support local, as the atmosphere created by this so called manager was actually sickening. Such a shame that what has been a lovely friendly pub in the past has turned into something so chaotic and crass.

If you like noisy, overpriced sports bars you'll love this place. If you want a decent pub for a quiet beer avoid.

On a trip down from Scotland, my family and I stopped by for a pint and some fodder. Safe to say that we had a fantastic spread of food, some lovely cold pints and the bar manager James was a legend. Attended to our every need. Lovely atmosphere, good food, great staff and just a stones throw from the train station and high street.

The beer and service were good but has someone given this pub an awful makeover recently? From Country pub to cheap cafe?

We enjoyed a couple of drinks here on a rainy afternoon, decent bar with friendly service. Parking is a bit of a chore, there is a small car park at the side for a couple of cars, and Lidl next door allows 90 mins, just enough for our needs.

Fantastic first outing to this pub. Great decor , good staff who genuinely knew their products . Local beers and gin were sampled

Fantastic little pub, lovely outside space, interior has been completely re-done to a high spec. They serve the best bier available in the country, genuine German lager Hofmeister Helles, brewed in Bavaria and the Gin station is pretty wonderful too. Well done everyone, I love it at the HH.

Absolutely disgraceful, avoid! No social distancing. None of bar staff wearing masks. Pre-booked table 2 week's ago outside for football, turned up and we'd been moved to a small barrel table inside for 4 with 3 stools?! and only a tiny screen behind the bar to watch football, which you could barely see from the barrel. When we asked about our table outside, staff didn't give a d*mn, didn't even try to help. Outside was packed and no social distancing at all. Ruined our 1st day out at pub. Will NEVER go back there.

A wonderful little pub with friendly and attentive staffing, the ukelele nights are always a lot of fun and very welcoming. If you're looking for a reasonably priced cold pint the the Halfway house is for you.

Greeting at arrival was a bit slow and you have to go upstairs to be shown your table, even if you want to sit on ground level. Food tasty but the famous Harvester salad bar is tired and poor. Staff very friendly. The place needs a revamp.

I have never been in this pub but Google thinks I have coz I go to Lidl next door. Sorry for the one star but I can't rate 'not been here' This is about the thirtieth time I've been asked to rate and I'm hoping this puts an end to it.

Not bad food is lumpy on the price but all round OK pub. Added bonus just down the road from thee train station and cab office.

We hired one side of the bar, for a birthday party, everyone there had a great time, and everyone I spoke to, said that they loved the pub. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely go there again. Thank you 👍

Looks nice enough from the outside, however I have only ever passed in traffic so I cannot comment on any other aspect. I've been asked the same question twice a week for the last 3 years!

Booked for a birthday meal but weren't told it was their beer festival. Were ignored at bar and no restaurant staff around...left and ended up at The poacher where we were received properly and fed well.

Great food very tasty but not much to choose on the menu, waitres friendly but very lost always asking the kitchen if they could cook certain meal from daily menu as only one choice of meat for Sunday roast.

Sweet little pub. The chef makes yummy food and takes requests just how you like it. Music events happen often aka open mic nights, record club, ukulele groups, DJ night etc.

Decent boozer. Carpet's not sticky like it used to be and it doesn't smell like cheese. Which is always a bonus.

Lovely wine, cute little pub, I went there just before 8pm and the kitchen had already closed even though it said they closed at 8pm, all I wanted was a cheese board but apparently the chef had already hone home!! I appreciate I was cutting it fine but it doesn't take much to put some cheese and crackers on a plate. The bartenders were nice and polite about it though, just a shame. I didn't want to drink on an empty stomach so had a packet of bourbon crisps, they were not very tasty, but that's my fault for choosing them!

Went to the August Bank Holiday beer festival. Brilliant afternoon ay this awesome country pub. I'm not a real ale fan, but the Korev cornish lager really hit the spot!

Quirky in a good way. Interesting decor. Comfortable sofas. Parking. I like it & always look out for when they have live music.

A stroll on a sunny Saturday evening found us in a great little pub. Terrific couple of young innovative people behind a well run bar Thoroughly recommend it.

We stopped for a pint after a hike before hedding back to London because it was the closest pub to the station and it turned out to be a gem! I liked the Sunday lunch menu and saw there was a terrace so we stayed for lunch and it was an absolute surprise! The food was superb, proper English meals with seasonal produce and a modern twist. I've read some reviews that say it's Greene King or Whetherspoons but further from the truth! It looks like a real independent pub, which is so difficult to find nowadays.

Ok for an old greene king pub , usual suspects on tap inc doom bar, 3 local ales and a sharps larger, staff are friendly enough, a nothing special no thrills boozer.
