All-day breakfast at Half Cup in London was an absolute delight! The staff warm hospitality made us feel right at home, and the vibrant, cozy atmosphere added to the experience.

Given that the price is a bit higher than an average brunch, we are glad that the quality and the portion of the food matches with the price. Drinks were so-so though, my friend’s hot drink was not hot enough. We are impressed by the fried chicken because it was crispy outside and still juicy and tender inside.

The service is so good. Lou and the team made sure that I could receive the best service even though I was in a hurry. The food is always so delicious and well prepared. I ordered the fried chicken waffle and oreo french toast. They are very generous with their portion of the fried chicken. The sauce is really good and it ties the dish together well. The oreo french toast is also really nice. They’re both my go to order when I visit Half Cup.

On a recent visit for brunch I ordered the savoury pancakes. I noticed immediately the egg (particularly the egg white) was a bit more undercooked than I would like to eat (quite snotty) so set it to the side but tried to ignore it. The dish in general was quite poorly balanced and the elements didn’t mesh together (maybe would be better with crispy bacon or a different type of chilli sauce?). However, in the stack of pancakes the biggest one was at the bottom and when I got down to it I noticed it was actually raw in the middle with runny liquid batter. We struggled to get any service at all but when the server was collecting our plates she asked if all was ok - my partner politely said that actually no there were two instances of undercooked egg (the egg itself with runny white, and the largest pancake with runny batter) which is why my plate was only half eaten. The server said ok I will speak to the manager and went off. She returned some time later and, with no apology or anything brusquely told us they’d comped our coffees, and walked back off again without any response from us. We then continued to struggle to get any service and were waiting for about 20 minutes trying to get someone to give us the bill/let us pay to leave. When we paid, again no communication other than asking if we were paying together or separately. The food as a whole for our group was pretty mid if you ignore the cooking issues, but with the raw egg and raw pancake it was clearly bad. The service though was absolutely awful - I was left feeling like the server was mad at me and thinking I was trying to get something for free or complaining for the sake of it - that wasn’t the case at all, as I ordered the food and ate about half around the raw bits I’m obviously happy to pay for the same. We never asked nor expected any discount but thought it was important to flag that actually there were two quite serious cooking issues which they might want to flag to the kitchen team to be wary of. This has left a sour taste in my mouth and I don’t think I would be willing to go back, which is a shame.

A lovely little breakfast place in the City of London. Had the Turkish Eggs with Halloumi and it was really tasty, just a little bit too spicy. I’m only giving the food four stars as I ordered a matcha latte, and there was some unmixed matcha powder which wasn’t the most pleasant. This is a local restaurant right between a very wealthy estate where people mostly don’t mind how much they spend for a breakfast Even though Half Cup is always more expensive than most breakfast places in London , still it is literally downstairs for me and I used to enjoy there Recently, I have realized that some south asian owners took over the restaurant and honestyl when I saw the Indian chefs/owners/waitress thought the taste, service and the menu was going to be much better But not only the quality of food has gone worse in time ; the most frustrating one they started to use some really cheap tricks My friend arrived 10 mins before me and already ordered; then an Indian waitress girl came to get my order When I complete my order she randomly asked “would you like avocado with the meal?” which was really completely irrelevant with my choice of food At my own neighborhood, the restaurant I ve been so often; so felt safe to approve what she offers first. But; then kind of sensation that I know how it works very well in asian restaurants those tricks I checked the menu Adding few slices avocado is £4.50 , while Wholefoods sell a whole avacado for £2.50 Then our breakfasts arrived and she brought a small plate of smoked salmon for my friend next to her mince & egg plate =) When I questioned her weird breakfast choice; my friend said the same girl asked while she was busy with her phone and somehow manged to add smoked salmon on the bill which is extra £5.50 Me , my friend or any other customers in that area wouldn t think about extra £4 - £5 ; but principally I refuse going places try to cheat customers by some small or bigger tricks. Shame & Never again

I had high hopes for this cafe in my neighborhood as I live at the same corner, but unfortunately, the exceptional lack of customer service I experienced a few times left a bitter taste. At my first visit, upon entering and politely asking for a table for two in the corner, which was free, for my breakfast, I was refused straightaway with the reason "that's a table for TWO, and you're only one. You can take a place outside". Yeah, it's raining and +7, thanks. In a while, I returned at 3:30 PM, well before closing time at 4 PM, only to be told that despite several available tables, I could only sit at the bar due to the impending closing. Despite my polite request for a table, it was denied. This experience left me extremely disappointed in the customer service, or rather, the lack thereof.

My love for Half Cup began when I went to their Judd Street location, and for 3 years I’ve been taking everyone there. I stumbled across this location and was pleasantly surprised - the menu is great, the location is too, the service is top-notch. I always order hash Benedict with smoked salmon - it never disappoints and I always look forward to it, and a dirty chai - which was quite spicy and you could tell it’s not made with chai powder :) Overall, I give 4 stars from atmosphere simply because the cafe itself feels quite corporate, doesn’t feel cozy/welcoming just because of the design - but everything else is great!

We visited this place with a reservation, after being seated at our table the waitress waited 10 minutes before taking our order, for some reason she assumed we were waiting for more people. 25 minutes later, we enquired about our order, turns out she forgot to put it through. They said it would be another 10 minutes, but if I can't trust them to take an order, I wouldn't trust them to cook chicken. By all means, go here if you want to pay £16 for French toast, with slow staff and tables that look like they haven't been cleaned in a week.

My partner had the Oreo french toast which she loved but my Dosh was so unremarkable I can't even remember the name of it, I checked the menu before writing this review but nothing rang a bell. The service was a little slow and the server seemed lost at times, twice I asked for my dish to be served without egg (not an allergy, fried eggs just make me feel nauseous)...yet the egg was still there right in top when my food arrived. The bill took ten minutes to arrive after we asked for it and the payment was taken on silence without even a thank you or goodby afterwards. I've worked in hospitality for over twenty years as a waiter, supervisor and now manager. The little things matter. I fully understand staff having a bad day but the basics are be pleasant with customers, repeat orders back and always say good bye. Probably won't go back to this branch but I love the Judd street one.

Tucked away in the recently redeveloped Mews close by to 2 Michelin stars restaurants, HalfCup offers an exquisite menu that gets updated every season. What matters most? The mood. Make sure to walk from Elizabeth line exit at Long Lane : turn into the alley after Jumping Beans cafe and walk through the old churchyard into a joining new one. This path will screen you from the busy streets and set the right mood by the time you reach HalfCup's quiet square. Do you think you know how hash browns taste like or an avocado toast does? The chef will challenge your presumptions. What amazed me particularly this autumn? - their tender fried chicken in a sweet sauce. Another wonder is that busy bankers have not frequented this place yet, a definite plus when you need to sit down for a chat around lunchtime.

Food and drinks were tasty and good portions. However….. I prebooked a table for 2 Got a message one hour before asking me to confirm (automated I think) which I confirmed After eating our food the waitress came and told me and my friend that they needed the table back (she was apologetic and friendly) as it had been an hour and made it sound as though this was usual practice. It wasn’t quite an hour- probably 50 minutes at this point! We were confused as other patrons were there before us and still at their tables so not clear why we were singled out. Also there were many vacant tables. Spoke to another member of staff upon leaving ( obviously asked to have the bill minus the service charge!) and let them know my views. He was apologetic and suggested that member of staff was quite new. One of his other suggestions was that the other table had more patrons and as such would have longer to sit there. Anyhow of course we left and despite one staff member offering to get us some free takeaway hot drinks as a way to apologise we politely declined and went to the Happenstance in St Paul’s and had some cocktails and was there for 2+ hours to continue to enjoy our catch up. It’s the half cups misfortune to miss out on the cocktails and the service charge we happily provided to the other restaurant/bar. The half cup missed out on £40+ extra revenue. I’m a Londoner who eats out in London regularly and this was probably the worst experience I’ve had. Thank you for making us feel so unwelcome. Avoid avoid avoid if you would like a catch up with your mate and don’t wish to be rushed. A one hour window for a booking (if in fact true) should be stipulated in the booking reservation (it wasn’t) as London isn’t short of good places to eat and we would have chosen somewhere else to start off with!

I loved everything about the experience, setting, service and most importantly the food. My daughter had the oreo French toast, I had the eggs benedict. I actually emailed this place private few days ago but they have not bothered to get back to me as I wanted to give them a chance to explain product not worthy and overpriced….clearly not bothered!!! I regularly pop in every Friday morning for Banana bread and a coffee to take away as I work around the corner. And I have been doing this since the opening in 2019. The service has always been so friendly, conversational and welcoming. But over the last 3 - 4 months, the staff in here react to you as if you are an inconvenience. No smile and very abrupt. Today is the last time I pop in and it's unfortunate. I have spoken to a few people who used to frequent Half Cup and they all say the same thing. You can see the life and soul has been sucked out of the place over the last few months. It's a real shame!

My only drawback is i would've liked the pita and bacon to come on a separate plate or basket as they were a tad dredged already from sitting on the yogurt. Eggs were wonderful! Lovely place, spacious and beautifully simple design. Service is kind and quick. I ordered the avocado toast, and while it's quite pricy, it was well worth it. The combination of flavors was an absolutely tasty experience. Highly recommend!

One of the better meals at this traditional favorite in Mayfair. The food was well-prepared and presented nicely on this occasion.
