Booked as going to watch the cricket at Headingley, ideal spot, free parking, managed to check in before the game started. Room was spotlessly clean with en suite bathroom , shower over the bath in our room, not sure if any rooms ave have walk in type showers. We stayed as room only, but did sit outside and have coffee before we left to ho out for breakfast so cannot comment on food. The staff we met all lovely and helpful, reasonable rates, job done.

We booked this hotel months ago. Double room with breakfast... We booked because we wanted certain facilities including licensed bar, restaurant parking etc.... We also had two friends book on our recommendation... We booked thru booking.com at £79 for one night including breakfast. Four days prior to our stay we received an email...saying there would be no bar or restaurant facilities on our stay over... My friends confirmed receiving the same email.. We looked at changing hotels, but my friends stated their email said they would still be charged... I contacted the hotel directly and spoke to a gent and asked him re no bar or restaurant. Hesitantly he asked "who told you that" I said email from booking.com He then confirmed that there would be no bar restaurant services but complimentary sandwiches would be available. ... We decided to stay as friends couldnt cancel... We could have. On checkin i spoke to the receptionist and asked her why there was no bar/ restaurant etc... She stated there was no staff to cover it. ..my friends and i decided to go out for a drink and something to eat.. Later in the evening we waited for our taxi in the bar area..( 10 yards from reception to bar) and the receptionist walked from behind the desk over to the bar and served a gent a large glass of wine... Its funny how they seeve some guests but not others.... Re room. Yes nice sized room. Ensuite... good sized...well set out... However when using the shower it was painfully lacking. It lacked power or water. Just a handfull of fine water jets squirting out of the shower head... and i mean fine... Ladies if u wash ur hair you would have trouble rinsing any shampoo out.. We were also on the top floor of the hotel... no lifts.. So not impressed. Whilst we stayed in hotel...our friends were in an annex... photo attached. Would we stay here again. No ..we could have got a cheaper b&b with better facilities and customer service

We have not visited the hotel for many years, and it has changed hands since our last visit. Our room was in the adjoining building, and somewhat awkward to take our luggage upstairs to the room with no offer of assistance. Supplying a non-slip bath mat would have been more helpful than a note to say they were available at the front desk, and a high level grab bar in the bath would have made entry much safer. Having been told the restaurant would be closed on Monday, we were happy to learn that it was open for dinner. However, overcooked vegetables, poorly set tables (no napkins) and rather tasteless food was a disappointment, though our server worked very hard to look after us. Breakfast, on the other hand, was tasty and service was good. Maybe we just got a bad night

Came here for the Sunday lunch carvery. Nice restaurant and the food was tasty. Nice starter of warm bacon and mushroom salad. Plenty of choice at the carvery and generous portions but we had to wait a while for someone to come and serve us, only one serving spoon for half a dozen different veg, slight things but a tad annoying. Good value and would go again.

Stayed at Haleys hotel and restaurant. Location was great if you like cricket as it was minutes from headingley cricket ground. We went to the emerdale studios and emerdale village which was fantastic. Upon arrival hotel staff were very friendly. When we checked in we had a look in the restaurant and the bar area. Again the lovely girl behind the bar was very happy to serve us and talk to us. Our room was big, although a little dated. But when speaking to the staff they told me they were refurbishing the hotel which to be fair you could see that. Breakfast was great. Again staff were very friendly and welcoming. Plenty of choice, and food was piping hot and being stocked very often. Overall great hotel for what we needed. And we can't wait to go back again in the very near future. Xx

We changed from another hotel to Haleys , based on reviews and photos but were slightly disappointed with the reality. Good points include nice comfy beds , and good breakfast, very generous supplies in the rooms. Downside was overflowing ashtray right by the entrance to the hotel, damp marks on the walls , and shower that could do with descaling to work better.

Went to Haley's with 9 others for a Christmas get together. The room and table was so well decorated, the staff were very friendly and helpful as a lot of the group were elderly. The starters were all very good and I had the beef for my main it was so tender others had either turkey or salmon and every one said how much they enjoyed the meal and were surprised with the choices of vegetables. We ended meal with a variety of desserts and coffee or tea. The waiter was excellent, everyone enjoyed the whole experience. I am visiting Leeds and I was happy to accompany a elderly relative to the meal. So delighted promised her a return trip to Haley's for Sunday dinner on our next visit.

Went here for a wedding. Food was great especially the beef!!! I had a standard double which was ok for just one night but would book a large double or a suite of stayed again. Room was clean but a little small. The decor is dated but does go with the theme of the place. Breakfast was self service not a lot of cooked food to choose from but the continental was plentiful. Overall nice place and staff were friendly.

We have used this hotel on many ocassions as we are Leeds Rhino's fans and prefer to come over to watch a match and stay over. We have found the staff friendly and accommodating, rooms clean and breakfast very good. We are regulars at the hotel and are able to leave the car safely whilst we are out, it is within walking distance of both Headingley cricket and Rugby grounds and plenty of eating places nearby. A bus will also take you into the centre of Leeds. Our next visit will be in December for Dynamo. A good hotel in a good location for our needs.

I pre-booked for a group of about £25 people. We were given our own room of just the right size. The carvery at £8.95 a person was very good value - four slices of various meats and as much vegetables, Yorkshire pudding etc as you good eat. Service was friendly & efficient. All looked well maintained and on-road parking easy when the hotel car park became full.

Went to Sunday carvery using discount voucher in local mag. Food really good and Yorkshire portions but Haley's may need to charge a bit more and employ and train more staff. Existing staff seemed hard put to service dining rooms and bar and keep tables clear on a busy Sunday. However, would go again for good food and classic decor even if they put the price up!

The room was very overcrowded, the single beds were were comfy and the reception staff friendly. The restaurant finished serving at 9pm and the breakfast ( which we missed ) finished at 9.30 am !!.I left some underwear in a drawer and after several emails being told it wasn't there ( by housekeeping) the receptionist finally went and checked herself and found it.!! Hotel was not easy to find, even with satnav. After a long drive we would have welcomed a long drink, did ask but were told bar did not open til 6.30pm and we were not offered a drink, this was about fourish.Would not stay again.

Visited carvery on Sunday to celebrate a birthday, we had a room to ourselves as there were 16 of us, we were met by a lovely waitress who showed us to the room, The meat on the carvery was excellent a choice of beef, lamb, pork ,gammon, turkey we had 3 vegetarians who happy with there choice, (always a worry at a carvery!!!) the vegetables were great quite often a little tired in carvery's sat about too long. We all had a sweet I had cheesecake, but could have apple sticky toffee pudding to name but a few, no complains from anybody. Finished off nicely with coffee. We arrived at 12.30 and didn't leave until 3.30 we were not rushed or hassled at any time. We shall certainly be visiting again for our Sunday lunch.

The hotel is very well located, central yet a decent distance away from ceaseless traffic of Headingley...and the busy shopping centre. Room was comfortable and well appointed. What went for breakfast was a great disappointment...the food was obviously cooked en masse early on and left to dry on the hotplate. A pity that we found out about at least a couple of good venues for a fresh breakfast within a 5 minute walk. Will certainly return to stay, but will skip breakfast at Haley's. Also suggest a good daily airing of the property, as the public areas smell of cooking.

Stayed here a few times , rooms are a good standard no complaints with them , only breakfast was a big let down tinned grapefruit and tinned orange no other fruit no yogurts tinned mushrooms and no chance of a fried egg the only eggs were watery scrambled egg the toast was cold and leathery had to serve yourself from a over crowded small area. Gone are the days when staff asked politely would you like tea or coffee bringing to the table!!! As for the staff not being able to fry an egg , two of them wondering around collecting used plates. Shame one of them don't take a course on frying a quick egg and keeping customers happy!! A breakfast muffin would had gone down well , but no nothing like that. Payed for a cooked Sunday breakfast as we booked and was looking forward to it. What a shame Haley's !!

Being a local resident, I am always looking for somewhere nearby that serves a quality and good value Sunday lunch - particularly useful for when friends and relatives are visiting, or when you just can't be bothered to cook yourself! Several people had recently mentioned that the Sunday lunch here was good, so my friends and I took the plunge today and we all really enjoyed our meal. There are 5 good choices of starter and 6 puddings at £3.95 each, coffee and mints at £1.50 per person and the main event, the carvery at £7.95 per person. You can choose up to 3 of the 5 meats on offer (gammon, pork, turkey, beef and lamb when we visited), and a great selection of fresh vegetables (buttered cabbage, carrot and swede mash, roast parsnips, green beans, sliced carrots and brocolli and cauliflower cheese), cheesy mash, roast potatoes, yorkshire puddings, stuffing, chipolatas, gravy and various sauces. What stood out for me was the choice of meats (rarely have I seen lamb on a carvery, however there wasn't much left when we got there at 2.00pm and we heard someone mention that they came early just to make sure they got some lamb!) and the quality of the accompaniments. I may be wrong, but everything seemed homemade including the stuffing. The vegetables were not the watery over-cooked specimens often seen on carveries, but fresh and al dente, and the serving dishes were regularly replenished. The chipolatas were of also of good quality, and the slices of meat made for a good portion. Thank goodness we didn't have a starter, and we certainly didn't have room for a pudding! It's worth mentioning that this is a beautiful property in a lovely quiet setting, just off the main Otley Road through Headingley. The dining room is light, bright and airy and the service was efficient, friendly and unobtrusive. There's free parking in the hotel grounds or on-street. We did book, but apart from special days like Mother's Day or Easter Sunday, I would imagine it's fine to turn up on spec.

Sunday lunch as it should be.A carvery offering a variety of roasts [lamb, beef, gammon, turkey, pork] and vegetable selection. The food is superb and great value at £7.95. Meat carved to order...no complaint when I requested "end bits" and thick chunks and my partner wanted"fatty bits". Help yourself vegetables cooked perfectly.Starters and deserts are on the menu but neither are necessary to any but the greedy [sadly there were those eating who either had not eaten for weeks or were going to fast for some time afterwards given the pile of food precariously balanced on their plates!]The staff are friendly, helpful and interesting to talk to.The bar area is small but adequate.Popular with families and students lunching courtesy of mum and dad.

Years ago, Haley's was a favourite restaurant for family occasions, but it declined, went through various ownerships and eventually closed. Seeing its revival, we visited with some trepidation, expecting it not to aspire to the standards of old. But we were wrong!. First impressions - pre-dinner drinks in the bar were at pub prices. For a Saturday night, it seemed very quiet - apparently apart from a couple of dozen in another room for a private celebration, we were the only diners. On going through to the dining room, all was nicely furnished, and tables invitingly ready for diners, but that evening it was to be for our exclusive use. The menu was quite extensive and interesting, and allowed 'early bird' options for 2 or 3 courses. Each of our party of 4 was delighted with the selection, the service and the portion sizes. Our waiter was friendly, courteous and attentive. We had noticed the Olympics finals on the bar television, before he took us to our table, and seeing our interest he even came through to update us on Mo Farah's success! Having enjoyed a relaxing meal over a couple of hours, we finally faced the bill. Pre-dinner drinks, 2 2-course, 2 3-course meals, 2 bottles of wine and 4 coffees. £105!!Now that's a bargain - excellent quality and service at a very reasonable price. Pleasantly surprised, (and as a Yorkshireman, I know a bargain when I see one), I shall be back again soon - the cost per person belies the quality standard.

Mrs Bore and I had a salmon and ham sandwich respectively. Both really well prepared on fresh bread though just short of £10 each. The one thing preventing 5 stars is they had outside heaters that nearly singed my hair.
