Amanda and the rest of the team looked after us! Food was lovely and drink prices are so much cheaper than average pubs these days!

Excellent food, cooked well, plenty of it. Alex member of staff very friendly. Dog friendly. If in the area again, I would definitely visit again.

My visit here has been brilliant, lovely atmosphere and food was delicious. Amanda and Alex ensured that we had everything we needed, service with a smile. They were very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely recommend.

Great spot to watch the football with the lads. Amanda was a great bartender and up for a laugh despite us being last ones to leave

Now we have been to several pubs for Christmas dinner and they wasn’t all that. But the halcyon lived up to its name. The staff were on the ball and so very friendly. And the food well we couldn’t believe the portions we received me and my wife were blown away with how much we had on our plates. It was that big we couldn’t even finish it. So in future we will definitely be booking every Christmas dinner at the halcyon in Peterborough. We both give them a 10 out of 10 for friendliness and such a great atmosphere and a truly traditional Christmas dinner. I would recommend them to all my family and friends.

We had a table of 15 for Boxing Day and it was lovely, the staff were very accommodating and in good spirit. We all enjoyed our food, which was served promptly. Our servers were Alex and Amanda

We had our Christmas meal today here and we left so stuffed that we had to ask the desert to go. The food was really tasty and the atmosphere was lovely. Amanda and the rest of the staff were amazing as usual, thank you ladies for all your hard work today 🎉 Merry Christmas

We booked to eat a special family Christmas meal today at 1.45 pm and had payed a £5 deposit each and ordered ahead. I am disabled in a wheelchair and have a very small therapy dog that travels with me so we were pleased when they could accommodate this and seemed very organised.We had chosen the Halcyon based on reviews and location and had no previous experience of the venue.As a family we live quite spread out so this is central for us all to drive to, about 1-2hrs each. My eldest daughter arrived first and then due to traffic at Boston we arrived around 10 mins late and then my other daughter arrived 5 mins after us. The bar was very quiet with a few families with young children eating. The table was in a corner by the window and quite nicely set with a red cloth and crackers for each of us.We all ordered drinks and waited for our preordered starters to arrive…and waited.It took well over 35 mins for the food to arrive and although the prawn cocktail and chicken strips were decent sized portions,nicely presented and tasty the same could not be said of the Brie bites which 4 of us had. They were rubbery and cold inside with no taste,that’s if you could get through the rock hard crumb coat that was deeply unpleasant and a real tooth breaker! We all tried but despite our hunger barely managed one of the 3 bites that were smaller than a dairy Lea triangle and less tasty all sat beside the saddest limp greenery. Even my dog struggled to eat one and he is a fiend for cheeses! We then waited a further 25 minutes for our mains to arrive even asking if we’d been forgotten but as we were the only diners having the festive menu or any menu at this time we were told it was being done fresh. High hopes were very much dashed when the 3 of us having the Turkey roast Christmas dinner received a cold plate( laughably being told by the sweet waitress to mind the hot plate!!) that had barely cooked sprouts and cauliflower,matchstick thin mushy carrots, dark brown very,very overcooked roast potatoes which had been baked so much they were hollow and rock hard,a solid Yorkshire pudding that once soaked in a boat of gravy( which arrived with the last dinner 15mins after all the others!) we’re just about soft enough to eat. The stuffing although stone cold was quite nice and tasty as was the solitary pig in blanket but the absolute worst thing was the Turkey.It was cold wafer thin slices of the driest meat. It had no taste at all and definitely no taste of any Turkey I’d ever eaten.There was a smear of gravy that looked as though it had been left to bake on under a hot lamp but as the meal and plate were stone cold it was a mystery to us how it’d become so congealed? All of us attempted to eat it but despite our hunger it was quite unpalatable and even my little dog was unimpressed only eating a few scraps then turning his nose up. We mentioned the meat and the poor quality and cold vegetables to the waitress who was apologetic and said she’d inform the kitchen as did the second waitress who came to finish clearing as only half done the first time. We then waited another 25mins while the deserts were made and although the Xmas pudding and cheesecake were ok the same couldn’t be said for the crumble which had been over cooked and looked like leftovers! This was one of the worst meals we’ve ever had and really not worth the price!? If it hadn’t been a special early Christmas for the family to get together and to welcome my first Grandson after nearly losing him and my daughter when he arrived 3months early as an emergency I would of made a lot more of it during the ‘meal’. As it was we did our best to laugh at it all and jolly each other along. But it was a really sad experience from start to finish! Shame as it’s a nice ,convenient venue for us which we’d hoped would be a regular .The staff had put together some sweet props for Christmas all around and were welcoming,friendly(but at times just a bit disinterested/slow).Santa was a lovely man and we had some nice pictures at the end. We also nearly exceeded the 3hr limit in the carpark!

Food was amazing couldn't fault it and great service from all the staff. The lady's are always friendly and nothing is to much trouble.

What a shame, started well with faultless dinner served in decent time but then everything went to pot and had to leave without eating pudding as it seems it takes them 30 mins plus to make two. It's a fairly empty Tuesday. But staff seemed to get slower as time went by. Shame

Amazing friendly staff, great food

After a bad experiance around 7 years ago we vowed never to come back here again for food despite it being a 2 min walk from our house.Took a chance a few weeks back as was told its changed hands and glad we did. Place looks cleaner and more inviting,Staff are all smiling and very helpful and the food was really good. Will definatly return again soon.

I visited this pub and restaurant yesterday with my partner, was busy but not too busy where we felt crowded, nice atmosphere and the food was very good and reasonably priced. Will definitely visit again when I'm in the area.

Food was good, staff also very friendly. Toilets need sorting out.

Visited with my daughter this lunchtime for a meal. Food was delicious, staff were friendly and welcoming, especially Louisa who served us our food and drinks. Lovely pub and lovely staff, will definitely visit again

The food was really tasty and was a great price. The service was great, I was served by a woman called Julie. She Made sure everything was okay for me, she checked back in a timely manor. Coudnt ask for anything more I’m really pleased with how I was treated and will definitely be returning :)

Popped in to try out the new menu with 2 of my minis can not rate highly enough the new Garlic bread def a must to try....... best I've ever had !!! Ordered nachos aswell as starter which the 3 of us shared which was covered with a generous amount of melted cheese.... we followed with the combo ...and childrens mac n cheese and nuggets chips and beans which we all enjoyed ..... now for the dessert .....The ultimate candy mania wowzers !!!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE !!!! The staff was amazing we was served by chloe and chef was Garf...? Asked if we had any allergies which is a big plus not many restaurants ask this (and to be honest I'm pretty awkward ) also checked to see if everything was OK..Met the chef which was nice and told him how amazing it was especially that Garlic bread !!!! Will def be back soon Thank you

Myself and some friends popped in for a catch up and a bite to eat. The atmosphere was relaxed with some lovely background music playing. There was lots to choose from on the menu, and some really great offers each day. Our food tasted delicious and was definitely great value for what you get on your plate. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Both Chloe and Amanda came and checked on us to ensure all was good for us, without being intrusive, you don't get much of that anymore! We left with full tummies and very happy. Thank you for a great experience, we will definitely be recommending to our family and friends. This will now be our go to place.

Myself and family visited for tea, the food was lovely and our waitress Jules was very polite and helpful, thank you for a great family tea.

The home run burger that my partner and I had sounded great, but the onions were legitimately vile, so slimy smelled vinegary, which we unfortunatly discovered once taking the bun off because it tasted so awful we scraped it off drowned it in sauce but those onions in the burger ruined the meal, not sure if it is supposed to taste like that but the fact it was served to us this way suggests it was so didn't feel comfortable sending it back, wish I had as now we have eaten my stomach really hurts and I feel very sick

The food was presented very well and was delicious. What stood out to me the most was the service and it was great. I was served by a women called Jules. She went above and beyond with her service. She welcomed us with a smile, asking about any allergies with food, regular check backs, always asking if there is anything else they could do for me which I really appreciated and was really caring and respectful to all of us. I’ll be returning again with that amazing service :).

I can honestly say as a long as I've been coming to the halcyon (20+ yrs) I've never met a better bunch of staff and landlady.. keep it up you are amazing nest staff ever Amanda was very helpful and service with a smile xxx

***Edit*** Service was so much better today! Food was absolutely banging!! Came in 2 Fridays in a row, and both times the tables were dirty with food and sauce all over. Wasn't particular busy, where you could understand it. We had to clean them ourselves as the staff were in and out, and we couldn't collar one.. food was good but the coke was flat on one visit and on the other was so full of ice it was watered down. Not enough staff working the food bar area.

One glaring problem with this venue. I love a game of pool with my pint but their pool table has only one very knackered cue with worn out tip and no chalk anywhere in the building but they charge a whapping £1.50 a game.

My wife and I came for a quiet lunch while the kids were at school and it was exactly what we were looking for. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Shannon couldn't have done enough to help, very nice to see. The food was very well priced and delicious. Will probably be back soon.

Great morning at the halcyon for the macmillan Disney morning, kids had lots of fun decorating cakes and arts and crafts, staff where amazing in there outfits and with the kids, can’t wait for the Halloween party’s

The food was terrible out of the two eggs one was slimy and the other was hard the toast was warm bread, . The manager looks like she has not showered for months she was not happy about having to fix one of the two coffee machines that did not work and I sat and hoped she would not serve me my food. Thus is by far one of the worse weatherspoons I’ve eaten in

Staff were welcoming and friendly but the pub smelt a bit and the food wasn’t great. The steak was more like dog food but the chips were nice!

Best pub to be in if you are in Peterborough or even visiting Peterborough. The staff members for example Bethany are very welcoming and the atmosphere is very comfortable. Service is excellent and was made to feel very welcome highly recommend, will always be returning to this pub ✅

Amanda was lovely, couldn't do enough for us. Only downside was they'd had a busy weekend and had no chicken dishes 😕 but what we had was something different and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Despite how busy it was the team all where very friendly and had smiles on the faces Food took a little time to come but was definitely worth the wait.

Food was pretty Good, only put 2 for atmosphere as there was very few customers. Food was piping hot and was prepared pretty quickly, would return if in the area again.

Lovely place with a lovely atmosphere. Mostly watch football but i have a meal on the odd occasion. Lovely staff always willing and ready to serve customers . May I mention a lovely and friendly lady (Louisa) fairly new to the pub but great personality !!!
