Pretty disappointing experience around. The only nice dish we had was the gyoza, but the okonomiyaki was bland and tasteless, and the pork donburi was also quite bland and had what seemed to be bacon in it instead of pork. Also gave us no glasses with our drinks which is pretty basic and had to ask a couple of times before we eventually got the bill as they forgot. Would not go again.

The food was okay but I don’t have much of an opinion on it. My friend enjoyed his pancake.

If you’ve been to Japan, I’d suggest you don’t eat here as it’s not that great. The pancake didn’t have any noodles inside and was quite small.. doesn’t taste anything like the ones in Japan. Plum wine was also very average. Wouldn’t recommend eating here.

Haven't been a good few years, visited again and was grossly disappointed. The special oki was completely underwhelming and made borderline not tasty due to the heavy and dominating sauce that was subpar. Service was not very attentive and quite poor. Will give credit to the prawn gyuza but that's about it. Cannot justify its price in any way.

I had high hopes for this Japanese restaurant but left thoroughly disappointed. I ordered the Danbury Bowl (£15), which was described as a special mix of pork, kimchi, and squid. Unfortunately, the dish was poorly executed: • The kimchi dominated the bowl but wasn’t spicy as expected – just overly vinegary. • The squid was rubbery and lacked any flavor. • There was barely any pork – just a few tiny pieces, which felt like an afterthought. • The plain rice was unseasoned, and mixing everything together didn’t improve the dish. To their credit, the gyoza and miso soup were good, but they couldn’t save the overall experience. Service was also subpar. The waiter struggled to communicate as they didn’t speak good English, making it hard to ask questions or make requests. Additionally, the staff was inattentive – I had to repeatedly flag someone down to take our order, clear the table, and bring the bill. To top it all off, I woke up the next day with a stomach ache and what I suspect was food poisoning.

Disappointed with bad service and food was not upto expectation. Okra was not well cooked and was insanely expensive.

Our favourite place to eat in Brixton, always delicious and such friendly staff. Mariko is always brilliant, so kind and warm, and always super helpful. Get the Salmon Mayo Onigiri and the Prawn Okonomiyaki! Sparkling plum wine is a must, too.

Lovely date night with beautiful food and fun and friendly service. Highly recommend eating here - and eat in, it’s great.

The food is the worse thing I've ever put in my mouth. I've spent £50 for a teapot, two miso soups, and two mains. All of them were bitter and lacking on flavour and ingredients. The meat in the food was the amount of about 20grams all in all. I expected at least the tea to be proper but no- it was made with boiling water( green tea shouldn't be made with boiling water) and tea bag instead of loose tea. I've been to many restaurants as I love trying different stuff all the time and OKAN is definitely one I regret eating in and will definitely never revisit.

I love this place! I come over here as often as I can, and the curry udon is my favourite! I often travel for work and after a long haul flight have a meal here is my favourite treat and healing! Staff are very nice and friendly. I'd recommend anything on their menu, everything tastes amazing.

Food used to be good. Went down a lot in recent months. Overpriced given the lack of flavors and overly salty. Also portion was sadly small. £10 for grilled chicken, came in small 4 dry pieces???? Service standard made the experience worse. Inattentive staffs, a very rude waitress, and slow service.

Quick and efficient service and delicious food

Food was delicious felt authentic although I’m not an expert. Can get a little chilly if you sit outside but fine if you have warm jacket. Service was great and meal felt good quality and good value. Great options for vegetarian/vegan.

Best spicy Udon soup I’ve bet eaten, absolutely delicious!! 👌🏼 The ginger, beef and pork special is a fantastic pick me up 🤩 Freshly cooked, piping hot and full of flavour 😋

The food was good but also we don’t know what Japanese food is meant to taste like tbh ( i would’ve added chili but ig that might be controversial ahaha). The waitress was sweet! And we were very warm so can’t complain! 💪

Curry udon tasted like a stock cube, service was slow, the outdoor seating freezing & we were told we couldn't sit inside despite empty seating. Staff kept trying to clear our one glass of wine when it still had wine in it, by the time I left my wine had had two different sets of fingers in it trying to take the glass. Very underwhelming!

The beef and kimchi teppanyaki was ok but basically a plate of beansprouts. The okonomiyaki was good, the prawn onigiri was quite funny cause it had a prawn on top and just rice inside. Overpriced for the quality of food served.

Good food and reasonable price. The staff are friendly and courteous, but the service was incredibly slow this evening. We waited for a long time for the order to be taken and about 30 minutes for drinks to be delivered. Food was also slow. It was quite busy, but not enough that the four people serving were that busy? We waited 20 minutes for the bull too!

There was a short line when I got there but they were clearing tables fairly quickly. The okonomiyaki are authentic, just like the ones I had in Japan. Their menu looks really good and has a wide variety. I was tempted to order five things. The prices are reasonable. 11 pounds for an okonomiyaki. The staff was really friendly as well.

I went here for a late night snack and was pleasantly surprised with the best miso udon soup I’ve ever had. Highly recommend this place as the staff is friendly and the food is exceptional. Spice level is tasteful. The gyoza was also a delicious side.

The area near the entrance to Brixton Village is a bit suspicious, but once you step into the Village, you'll find yourself in a lively multinational world✨You can enjoy the flavors of various countries at affordable prices. I received ``fried favorite meat and kimchi'' and raw 🍺. I was able to enjoy the taste of Japan for the first time in a while. Is it the manager of Okan? The ``mom'' who seemed to be doing her best was giving encouragement to the young waiters. Highly recommended. I will drop by again.

Really good food. The udon was lovely.

The food was average, we had okonomiyaki and a noodle dish as our mains. The bill came to £60 for 2 mains, 2 non alcoholic drinks and 1 starter which seemed overpriced for what we got and the dingy look of the seating as well as the sticky and overused menus. However the service cannot be faulted and was brilliant.

Glad we stumbled across this in Brixton village. I’ve always wanted to try Okonomiyaki and glad I did. I tried the tofu with kimchi + egg which was really tasty. Thank you for the service Takuma!! Also really good atmosphere!

Miso udon soup was out of this world!

I would have given 4 stars as the food was pretty tasty, but our waitress was so rude the whole evening that I'm struggling not to give 1 star. Shame, we won't be going back.

Slow and inattentive staff :( waited over 45mins for food to arrive, and in the end we received something different to what we ordered due to the specials not being communicated about properly.

Was told the special was an okonomiyaki, but was a £20 omelette instead. Delicious, but not what was ordered (my partner left hungry). Took 50 minutes to get our food.

Staff were lovely but I am a vegetarian of many years and ordered a vegetarian okonomiyaki (indicated both on menu and on my bill at vegetarian) and it was tasty but halfway through eating I noticed a very fishy taste. It had been served with a fish topping. I pointed this out to the waiter who apologised. I was still charged the full amount plus service charge which I thought was quite unfair as I left with a bad taste and feeling a bit queasy

Really wanted to like this place. Was left a long time without service trying to flag down servers attention. 70+ mins to get just our mains so we asked for the bill at the same time as desert which was the smallest slice of cheesecake for 6 felt a bit like robbery. The mains were nice though very sweet. I went for the okonomiyaki pork noodle and the pork was some bacon on the bottom, which also felt like a trick. If it’s bacon..maybe just write bacon. Atmosphere was nice and the servers and manager were very sweet and understanding when we relayed our experience though didn’t go so far as to offer any alleviances.

Food was amazing, and the service was excellent everyone was lovely especially Sakura (didn’t get everyone else’s name but they were also incredible!!) Would definitely go back can’t reccomend enough (in particular the gyoza)
