Habas in Manchester

Treated very rudely by wait staff. Hurried out and even treated to being shouted at to get us to vacate a table

We were greeted, seated and served by a gentleman called Darius. Great service. Me and my dad played darts for an hour with a few issues but Darius was straight over to fix them with no hassle. He even pushed out shuffleboard time back so we could go and enjoy the weather for a few hours. We had quite a few issues with shuffleboard. Though, once again Darius was straight over. Unable to fix the issue, he took care of the game cost and got us a couple of drinks from the bar. I’d just like to say thank you for the service he provided. We stayed for hours after, bought food and more drinks due to the great hospitality received. Darius is a credit to your business! Side note, having to shout to speak to someone stood right next to you is not fun. Music was extremely loud.

Great fun! The darts was really enjoyable and the food super tasty...afterwards we went into the bar to watch the football and didn't even have to leave the seat to get another beer. Would definitely go again and try the shuffleboard!

Nice bar/eatery in a central location.

Literally one of the worst bars I’ve ever been in. The whole place stank of sewerage. Beers were ok. Full of media types. Asked for a pint of red stripe and the barmaid didn’t know what it was. Sat at a table that said reserved from 4.30pm. It was 4.10pm and the waitress tried to usher us out. We said it wasn’t 4.30pm yet and she said it didn’t matter the group had turned up early. Left our drinks half full couldn’t stand the atmosphere any longer.

Recommended for a visit. Drinks weren't too expensive and the darts games were good fun.

We were on business, and being from Lebanon ourselves, were looking forward to proper Lebanese food. What a joke. The food is virtually inedible, in fact I can honestly say I don't think I've ever been to a worse Lebanese, no correct that, a worse Faux middle eastern restaurant, anywhere in the world. Truly terrible.. The service was also none instant, and I embarrassed my business associate by repeatedly having to get up and go find a waiter.. Whatever you do in Manchester, avoid this faux restaurant. Truly terrible.

Cool bar. Nice cocktails. Sport available to watch on several tv's.

Had good experiences here before but not last night. A simple misunderstanding over the order became unnecessarily stressful and turned the meal into a marathon, but not a single apology. One member of the team, Chris, was great though and credit to him for brightening things up. That’s it, won’t be returning. We have also switched from EGN to TC for similar reason; something isn’t right here?

Nice tapas bar with good vegetarian dishes.

The food! Omg the food is Delicious here! We had various different things to swap and try each others dishes (there was 6 of us in total) and it is a beautiful restaurant. The decor is gorgeous! The only thing I would advise is if you have someone in your party who likes big portions this might not be the place for them, as the portions are little so you have to order 2/3 things off the menu for each person really in reality to make it a meal. But the food was 👌 The chocolate brownie was Amazing!! I would definately come back to here in the future.

Had an amazing meal and service here. We were served by Chris who was great, explained everything and came to check on us the perfect amount. Slightly on the higher price side but definitely worth it for the quality. Sad this location is shutting but will follow them wherever they may go! Thanks again Habas

An impromptu visit here on a Saturday night before Christmas and we were surprised to be able to be accommodated. The lady was polite and explained the only table they had was next to a large party who were quite noisy. Beggars can’t be choosers so we agreed. Service was great and the waitress explained how the dishes work (one main with either two or three sides). Drinks arrived quickly and the food within a reasonable time (given how busy it was). The party were indeed noisy and we were only thankful Julie wasn’t with us as (being of a nervous disposition) she can’t abide noise. However, this was no reflection on the service or the food. Food was beautiful and just about the right amount for me.

1st time visit, the food was delicious. We ordered 5 small plates which was plenty for two of us. Staff were very friendly, Would definitely recommend.

Hidden below street level, it’s lovely inside and the music playlist was right up our street (80s light music). The food was very tasty, but the portions were a bit on the small side for the price.

This place is beautiful. Me and my partner were looking on tiktok for nice Manchester food spots and came across here. It’s unique and classy inside, the food was excellent, we had Tipsy Tapas (sort of like bottomless brunch) for £38pp and it was well worth the money. We got to pick three small plates and unlimited drinks from a small but mighty menu. I would hugely recommend the Salmon Arancini, they were incredible! I also had pitta and tzatziki (amazing) and sweet potato, feta and tomato (generous portion for this one and equally as amazing). There were about 6 drinks to choose from for the unlimited aspect, our favourite was the fruit punch. The service was amazing and very attentive, staff were lovely. Staff were always offering to get us our next drink even when we hadn’t finished the one before which I loved as you don’t find that in a lot of places that do unlimited cocktails so it won me over. We don’t live in Manchester but it’s certainly somewhere I’m willing to travel JUST for this haha! 10/10 experience x

1st visit, great choice of food and drink, food was delicious and 5 plates were plenty for hubby and I. Good looking restaurant, had a nice vibe and the staff were lovely.

The schnitzel, braised lamb pomme anna and the butternut squash were mouthwateringly delicious and to die for! 💯 recommended 👌🏼👌🏼

Lovely intimate basement restaurant, uses a tapas system (£18 for 3 dishes for the lunchtime special).Our evening meal with a sweet & drinks came to £50 a head which is probably more than we'd normally spend but we really enjoyed our visit, both the food and the atmosphere were superb. We'll be back!

Found this by chance, but very glad we did. We had the 3 tapas dishes for £18 and was definitely worth the money. Great food and service, have recommended to family and will hopefully be back.

Not going to lie, we were all disappointed with this place. Was so looking forward to trying it after seeing the amazing reviews. The flavour profile's were not right for Lebanese/ Middle Eastern food. The mixed grill was gross honestly. Better off going to Wilmslow Road and eating some real food for a fraction of the price. It was so expensive!!! So many other better spots out and about it Manchester, sad to say this place was a letdown

Good vibe, great staff, modern interior but the food portions versus the prices does leave a lasting impression unfortunately.. anyone asking me if I'd ever been to Habas the comment would be eat first before you go and take a few quid to cover the bill. Shrinknation on a plate.

Liked the setting, liked the staff, liked some of the food. Special mention for Fatima, ‘only’ a waitress but she took special care to check in with us after noticing we had to return a dish that was served cold. Well done her, really professional. Also have to praise the chef who repeatedly rang the bell for service, without any response from front of house, but didn’t go ballistic. Then again, on reflection, maybe giving the Chef more authority would be a good thing? Most of the food was ‘meh’ except the Chicken Tagine, which had good depth of flavour, though not served as a generous portion. Craft Ale (Se7en) is excellent. All in all, ok, but didn’t really live up to the billing. Not expensive

I recently visited here and the restaurant was aesthetically beyond words. Such a beautiful atmosphere to be at. Monica, our waitress was pleasant to be with and really good at what she does. Meat was definitely one of the best and food was good too.

We went for my daughters birthday after I had been previously with work at Christmas and it was great. The food was not even half as good as the first time and the food portions extremely small for what you pay, and the sides were tasteless and bland. I was obviously disappointed at the lack of consistency. The manager was extremely gracious about my expectations being failed and really did try her best to resolve the situation for us but in she end she doesn't cook the food so only so much she can do. Waiting staff lovely also. However I would not come here again as the food is the main factor what will bring me back to a place. Best thing about here is the drinks, the cocktails are very good.

Really lovely decor and nice food. Sweet potato was a huge highlight. However, really disappointing that in 2021 and in such a multicultural city like Manchester, Habas truly is a reflection of cultural appropriation and is not halal. This is a Middle Eastern restaurant that caters to most people other than Arabs themselves. Not sure who thought it would be a good idea to open up a Middle Eastern restaurant and exclude a large majority of people from the Middle East, but I guess that's what you get when you don't consult the people whose cuisine you're imitating! -- EDIT - they are now halal, thank you!! Fantastic

We came here for lunch, and it was absolutely wonderful! Lots of variety on the menu, everything was delicious and beautifully presented. Prices are very reasonable. Nice big drink menu as well.

The atmosphere was nice. The food is quite expensive for what you get I think. You get a massive bowl of hummus (which was so nice and smooth) but the tinniest bit of bread to go with it. I really enjoyed the potatoes. The chicken wings had no flavour though. Definitely check the bill at the end because it doesn't quite match up (apparently happens quite a lot that the till needs fixing). The staff were very attentive and quick to sort out the problem. I would come again now I know what to expect but more for a treat rather than every day dining.

We found this place by chance having searched Maps for food nearby and I'm very glad we did! The food was absolutely amazing and the staff friendly. I had the vegetarian meze and my friend had the lunchtime three dish special and both were plentiful and very tasty. Good value for money too. Thoroughly recommend.

Came in as a group as basically got forced to use the group menu which I found daft as half of us wasn't even hungry, staff didnt even smile seemed judgemental, not once did a single staff member as if the food was okay. given 9 bland chicken wings to share between 9, one wing each??? Salad was dry. Got a slice of cake that was skinnier than my pinky toe, one scoop or tesco value vanilla ice cream. And even when we said we wasn't happy with the bill for the small amount of food we got the waitress sniggered? Only good thing was the smell. Had incents and candles. But everything else was just poor. 38 quid for that ☠️

Food was only ok considering the price paid. Ordered the chicken schnitzel- middle of breast was raw. ordered the prawn and scallop plate- prawn had the intestinal tract still on. both plates were sent back. This is just unacceptable for any restaurant out there and really expected more from Habas since I enjoy going to El Gato Negro. Staff were helpful and removed the dishes from the bill. Wont be going again.

We went there for dinner after reading some good reviews on Google / food blogs, unfortunately we were a bit disappointed. We ordered the sharing meat meze, lamb kebab and aubergine side. I'm no expert but can say the food here is not authentic middle eastern. It feels like chain restaurant food but not done particularly well, it all tasted a bit bland and nothing special about it at all. The kebab tasted okay but very oily and dripping all over (not meat juice, just a lot of red oil). The chicken wings came with the platter was very bland and the meat close to the bone and bone itself was very pink. We enquired and we were assured that the wings were sous vide cooked for 5 hours and definitely not raw and we were not offered alternative, so my pregnant friend didn't have any to be on the safe side. If they were all pink by the bone then maybe consider changing the cooking method....? The vibe in the restaurant and service was good though. Maybe it was just the food we chosen, but we won't be in a rush to return.

Dined with my parents at Habas and we were so impressed! We had the veggie platter as a starter and then shared a selection of meat, fish and veg tapas - particularly enjoyed the lamb meatball special (please keep this on the menu long term!) Also recommend the salmon arancini. Portions were very generous and good value for money. My parents had a lovely bottle of red Lebanese wine which went really well with the meal. Also thank you to the wonderful staff who were so attentive! We'll definitely be back again soon

Opted for the tipsy tapas for a family birthday celebration and will definitely be back. Staff were really welcoming and friendly. Food was great and generous portions. Unlike other bottomless drinks we have tried there was a good selection of drinks on offer and the staff were very attentive and ensured we were never without. Great value for money.

Me and a couple of friends came to habas last month and the experience was 10/10. The food was amazing! The best hummus I’ve had! Would definitely recommend the vegetable mezze platter, halloumi kebab and the prawn rice. I really liked the tapas style of this restaurant as everything came out whenever it was ready, not all at once so wasn’t an overwhelming amount of food. The service was excellent, all the staff were amazing and so attentive! I will definitely be returning!

Love this place, this is my 2nd visit this month. Came with friends for the tipsy tapas menu and it was well worth the money. Staff were great and food & drink selection was fab. Will come back and do this again.

One of the best meals we've had in Manchester. Came here for lunch, and got the £15 deal: huge bowl of delicious salad (very filling), extremely moreish Mediterranean potatoes on the side and a glass of house red. Definitely coming back.

If you are looking for authentic food this isn't the place :( 3 items wiped from the bill, dry, bland and undercooked. Best dish was the patatas, rest mediocre.

Great little find just off King Street. Downstairs, cool in the heat of the summer and cosy on a cold winter's eve. The food is fabulous, wide veggie selection. We did tapas type small plates, all beautiful, I especially loved the cauliflower dish. Well worth a visit!!

Came here last week with my mum and sister and oh my god we were spoilt for choice. They had just come off a long flight and so the express menu which was £15 each I think was perfect. My sister ordered the halloumi wrap with spicy potatoes and a coke was which tasted amazing and the staff were so accommodating with the huge suitcases we brought with us! Can’t wait to come here for my next date night for more mezze!

Had a works do there. A chicken kebab £15 an absolut rip off. Two small scoops of ice cream £7.50 Spatch chicken i have seen pigeons bigger. All i can say is over priced. Would have been better at my local chippy

Disappointed and won't be going back portions were very small and my food was very bland and not worth the money, the restaurant was nearly empty. they need to up their game and produce bigger portions.

Nice food but certainly nothing exceptional, however it’s the portion sizes and eye watering prices that would prevent me ever coming back here. £15 for a minuscule kebab that wouldn’t feed a rabbit, £18 for 2 tiny monkfish skewers and £6 for a few grains...

Stopped in for an a late lunch, hostess/waitress was very welcoming and chatty. Great ambience. We ordered 6 dishes from the 3 for £15 menu. Delicious food, just wish I could have eaten more. Definitely didn’t disappoint. Will be returning of an evening and looking forward to trying the al a carte menu.

Well worth seeking out on a back street in the middle of town. Great decor and atmosphere and very welcoming - we knew we were going to enjoy it as soon as we walked in. We had a time constraint and wanted to taste a range of dishes so we chose six different dishes from the 3 for £15 menu. All were excellent - tasty, well prepared and presented and imaginative. The service was attentive, helpful and professional and the whole meal (and drinks) good value. We shall certainly be back for a more leisurely meal to explore the menu further. Highly recommended. Update: Today we went back with a family group of seven and everyone thought it was fantastic. Further update: another great meal this evening.

Nice restaurant, ok menu, but be aware it’s served tapas fashion. Food comes in small dishes, even if you think you’ve ordered a main entree. Some of our party ordered a 3 for £18 option but the portions were miniscule. Not recommended if hungry. Prices...

The food was very tasty, I loved specially the filo cigars and the lamb pomme ana which were crispy and with such delicate flavours, there’s a nice range of vegetarian dishes as well, the passion fruit nougatine had a perfect balance in the sweetness and it’s honestly one of the best desserts I’ve had! The cocktails had a great quality as well. Also the service was very attentive, professional and friendly. I will definitely go back and recommend to my friends!

The Naan was undercooked for starters which is odd for Middle Eastern food… they offered an alternative which was not edible but they tried. Don’t have much vegetarian options. The place has great interior, but for the price pp you can find a better place in town.
