We coming with all the powerroofing team eat here all the time and it is always excellent. The best food anywhere around here. The staff are always helpful and welcoming, especially Kay. We love the onion & chilli bhaji, paneer dishes are lovely, all foods and service is really good. They also do a buffet price which is great value. Top marks !

Food is delicious and great entertainment weekends and live singing weekdays too. Great chef's with a varied menu, good portions at reasonable prices. Welcoming hosts, best place for good local Indian food & chill out zone.

I've been to GK Lounge a few times since it has been refurbished. And I can say, it's a very hospitable place to be. Very polite and welcoming owners. The food is lovely.... Drinks are reasonably priced and the staff are friendly and make you feel at ease. Weekends are full of excellent entertainment.... Not a place to miss and be....

We went to GK lounge for a family dinner today. The starters we ordered (2 of each chilli mogo, indo-chinese paneer, crispy bhajia and sticky lamb chops) all tasted mediocre at best, and the portion sizes were small in comparison to the price we paid. Although we had intended to order mains, we changed our minds after seeing the portions. We told the manager the truth about the portion sizes when he inquired about how everything was going after the bill was paid. The manager's response, which I felt was a lame justification for the small portion sizes, was that they were remodelling the kitchen. I wish I had taken a picture.

The food, very mediocre and cooked for quantity not quality. Having said that the buffet off the menu is good value and there is some tasty food on the menu, if you choose carefully. The Cocktails, quite extraordinarily lacking in any sort of skill, sweet, uninspired and unworthy. There’s work required to get to any sort of standard to be called “Cocktails”. On the whole, if you want to blast out with beers and a selection of different dishes it’s OK. If you’re out for a fine (semi-fine for that matter) dining experience, there are better choices.

Regulars here once a month, the food is always spot on and cooked fresh …. The chef is always accommodating to requests if you want the dish XXX-HOT or mild …. There is a wait after ordering the food, worth the wait as it’s fresh ! The beers are the best I’ve had they accompany the food beautifully…. The actual restaurant isn’t glamorous or arty farty, simple old school Dinner tables and chairs…. Service is always on point, but during busy periods can be seem stressed and over worked haha

Reasonably tasty food, the tamarind chutney with the popadums was a spicy surprise, and the onion bhajis were spicy also. The chicken and lamb dishes were tasty. Rice, breads and dahl were all well made, perhaps the rotis a little dry. Attentive service for drinks, but the food took quite some time to arrive (so more drinks consumed!) and there wasn’t enough of the main dishes, so didn’t feel value for money at almost £20 per head (excl. drinks). Overall felt a little disappointed.

We visited today as a family of 6 members. The entrance is at the backside of the main road. As soon as we entered the upstairs, there is a bar with lots of people drinking around. A s we went all the way from Hainault, we entered into the main restaurant through the bar room. The room is slightly dark and the seating area is not that great. I asked the staff where us the buffet section as mentioned in their website. She said buffet means we have to order the food from menu and then they are going to make it ready and bring it to us. That's rubbish , I don't even understand why they mentioned buffet and family friendly restuarant in their website whereas it is no way suitable for family and doesn't serve buffet. Anyway the place seems to be dirty and we don't feel like it's a place which we can enjoy the dinner with kids. Finally, we made a decision to leave. FOR THE OWNERS - PLS EDIT YOUR WEBSYE DETAILS, TAKE OUT THE BUFFET AND FAMILY FRIENDLY WORDS. Atleast people don't waste their time

Welcoming , friendly staff great beers and the food is worth travelling for great value for money been coming here over 25 years you must try the masala lamb chops !

I've been here on several occasions with former colleagues and never had a bad experience - the food has always been excellent, the service friendly and the atmosphere pleasant. There's a huge variety of options to cater to any taste buds, be your preference mild or spicy. Portions are generous and you can order as much as you want, over and over again. I thoroughly recommend this venue!

Went to this restaurant for third time.Was impressed With food starters mains A nice tasty homemade food not too spicy. Ive been to many Indian restaurants including Kanchans, Carraways I rate this restaurant in my top 5. Although doesn’t look all that from outside.The ambiance is good and you wouldn’t know your on Green Lane,Seven Kings.

I have eaten her with my family and friend's on a number of occasions and have found the food to be of a very good standard all cooked to order (so do not expect a curry in a hurry) the menu has two option all you can eat (not buffet style) which is great value currently £12.95 per person for starter and main course, or the main menu. The service is always good and chearful as are the owners, and drinks prices are reasonable, I would suggest that you book as it is always busy and there is often large family gatherings, the style of the restaurant srvice is different from any others that I have beeb to but once you have been i feel sure you will want to return

Thoroughly enjoyed the food here, which felt lovingly made. The buffet option £12.99 for all you want is a bargain, especially considering the size of the portions. They also stock Tusker, which goes brilliantly with the mogo.

Visited GK 11 Oct 2019. Having visited many times before, I was once again not disappointed with the quality of the food. Consistency is key and every visit you are guaranteed great food with quality to match. You are assured a warm welcome and a special mention to Kay and the team who always look after us and the other diners so well. For places to eat in and around Ilford, for home style Indian food, this should be top of your list. There is a really good selection of vegetarian starters and main meals for the non-meat eaters. Always go for the buffet meal - you won’t be disappointed!

I visited today with partner and son and I'm shocked on how nice it is , its tucked away so not many people know about it.we was served by a lady named kay and she was amazing with my three year old , she was really friendly and professional.The menu has a good variety of dishes and for 12.99 you cant go wrong.The food was nice and it was fresh and hot not like other buffet places.its all you can eat but they serve it to you.would highly recommend the special rice and samosas.

What can I say? Gymkhana is one of the secret little places that deserves the great reviews. The food is very tasty and the all you can eat buffet is too good to turn down. Our server Kay made us feel very welcome.

Great authentic Indian cuisine! Me and my family have been coming here for years. Great Authentic family run restaurant, Great service from Kay and Russel and the food is always amazing. Great value for money and a place to come to watch the football have a drink and some good food! always a good night out.

Food is exceptional, all the staff are lovely and very friendly and helpful. They also have a few TVs which show main sporting events. Overall a lovely place to go.

All I can say is, if you don’t go...your missing out. It really is one of the best Indian restaurants in Ilford. Not only is the food extremely tasty, but it’s complimented by great staff (Kay and young lad helper) who offer great service. Been here numerous times and it never fails to please those taste buds, love the hospitality and food they have food from mild food to extra spicy food, from basic chips to amazing full on meals, its a deffo must come place and you have to say hello to Kay and Abdul when you come otherwise you're missing a huge part of the experience. Having recently moved to the area, i was keen on trying the cuisine offered in this restaurant. I saw the perfect opportunity to do this during raksha bandhan, where sisters tie a talisman, or amulet, called the rakhi, around the wrists of their brothers, symbolically protecting them, receiving a gift in return, and traditionally investing the brothers with a share of the responsibility of their potential care. Taking my sisters to this restaurant i was eager to treat them to some fine indo-chinese cuisine. I was not disappointed. The level of care and attention to our needs was met professionally by the amazing K. The cuisine coupled with the family atmosphere made for an overall enjoyable experience.

Gymkahna is a great, friendly place. The staff are great too (I am amazed that Kay has not been head hunted by other restaurants...).

We came to Gymkhana again today. We’ve been here many times and we are never disappointed especially when Kay is here. Wonderful dinner as always the lamb saag and the garlic mushrooms are amazing.

This place is one of the best findings in London if not England itself! The food is superb and they have a “all you can eat” menu but cooked to order! The starter menu is where you will spend most of the time eating because everything is superb! But our fav has to be the lamb chops masala ❤️. We’ve been coming to Gymkhana for a few years now and never disappoints. Tonight we had the pleasure to be served by the lovely Kay; she was so friendly and kind to my daughter, made her feel special and made sure we left with a happy tummy!

Went to Gymkhana last week, couldn’t book even though I rang reception numerous times without anser! However thought I’d risk it and just rocked up after reading serveral sterling reviews in the Michelin guide. When I turned up to the restaurant there were no staff to be seen which troubled me. Not to be down-heartened I gave the food a chance. This is where it all went wrong. The lamb chops were burnt to a cinder and the roti was identifiable only by its dental records. Won’t be dining again.

We booked this restaurant 2weeks ahead and when we got there for dinner we were shoved in a corner in the bar area. When we complained we were told we can move upstairs but have to leave in an hours time, that is by 9 pm. So we opted to stay in the bar area and enjoy our dinner, although the atmosphere was not that great. . Then by 930 pm we were told they want us to leave as having more people in the bar area to make money selling alcohol was more important than serving us. We travel overseas a lot and visited London after 10 years and had never experienced this in other restaurants. Dinner was ok and the the girl who served us was nice but we didn’t leave a tip because we were not treated well.

I’ve eaten at gymkhana 4 times now and have to say that the staff especially the lady are very warm and friendly and really make you feel at home. The food is delicious and the menu vast. This place is excellent value for money and nothing is too much trouble

I was with MalcolmR on the night of his bad review. Unfortunately the service was as bad as he stated. The response he received is a lie. We all complained about the food and service. We also offered to pay for ten people eve though there was only eight of us in order that we may enjoy the buffet deal. This was refused. Unfortunately 1988daddy is lying to protect his business. many people that night had issues.

A have been a patron of Gymkhana for many years, even after moving out of the area I have tried to meet up with friends for a meal at Gymkhana once every couple of months. I won’t be going anymore.

A nice place for a sociable time. Buffet price of £12.95 a head but order of al a carte menu as many items as you like and can eat.

I have never experienced such a service in my life! We had ordered under the all you can eat for £11.99 per person, being vegetarian we was served a dish which smelt and tasted like fish! It was as though the dish was cooked within the same fish pan which was out of order. As we addressed this to management the manager did not even want to listen but simply argue with us and not willing do not anything about it! On top of this he whacked an extra £15 on top of the bill what should have been £47.96 ended up being £62.96 for the simple matter that the dish was not touched. I am sorry but a vegetarian person does not eat fish and to be so abrupt and rude about it, clearly this restaurant needs to touch up on customer service. Shamefully we have been visiting this restaurant for many years for birthdays and family gatherings and even been recommending to our family and friends! Big mistake, and I will not be telling my friends or family to visit this vile restaurant!

Here's a little secret for you if you decide to visit, ask for your lamb chops to be Punjabi style... you will never taste anything like it in your life.

I visited this club restaurant few times we always enjoy the food the drink are reasonable price only the Prosecco are expensive compare to other restaurant even I gave advice about the price of it the difference between £7-8 but still no changes making us drink something different of what we like and of course we are ordering less but the menu buffet food make the different

I used to come here regularly visited Saturday and noticed that the place looks dirty. We all had lager and left it as they are not cleaning their beer lines. Cleanliness is a must for me the toilets need a deep clean also

Loved the food, selected food most of the food from menu. All the items served were excellent. Went there twice now. Weekend service can be slow, you can order either by dish or go for buffet option at fixed cost. Same items served as bufffet or by dish. You can select any dish from menu as buffet and eat as much as you like,but but cant waste it. If waste the food then cost of the dish gets added to your bill. In buffet from first order served (Starters) you have two hour or 90 or 120 minutes to finish your meal and you can keep ordering anything in between. You have to pay for your drinks.

There are lots of choices on the menu, and the food is delicious with large portions.and on the menu it says £9.99 eat at much as u like for 2 hours - But if you leave any food on the plate then you have to pay the full menu price - so make sure you only order what you can eat.A fully stocked bar as well. Could do with a makeover but if you are not too bothered then its worth a visit just for the quality of food at great prices!

Had a lovely meal this evening. Food was just right. Crispy Bhajias are a must every time we go. Lamb chops were tastey and tender. Staff are polite & professional and as we go there regularly they tend to know our usual and always have an extra plate of cucumber for the boys which they always ask for. Owners are very friendly and always come over & have a chat which is lovely!

This place isn't a typical indian restaurant as it has a bar if you just want to drink. They charge buffet prices and as much food as you can eat. They do charge if you waste the food. The menu is indian and Kenyan , Jeera chicken, punjab chicken bites etc. The service is very good as well. Give it a go very busy on Saturday nights.

I understand this resturant serves halal meat. I have no problem with this, however I do not eat halal meat as is the case with many Sikhs and Hindus. Please do the honest and responsible thing and clearly state that the meat served is halal like other restaurants that serve halal. At least those that do not eat halal are informed and not misled.

We went to Gymkhana in Ilford today for Father's Day (19.06.16).We ordered starters, which came quite quick and was hot. We got a normal starter portion for all the things we ordered, except for the crispy bhajia & aubergine bhajia which was 3 times a normal starter portion. Then we ordered mains, which they made a mistake on, so by the time we had our main then in correct order of curry came, by which time we had eaten. We also ordered naans and as one went cold we asked for it to be warmed up rather than order another one, so we don't waste it. The mains portion were normal portions. We had our meal, and the owner came to our table and started telling us off like school children. That they have a no wastage policy on the buffet deal, and the crispy bhajia & aubergine are wasted, and there was 1 half kebab left along with one piece of chicken. Then she goes on saying she will leave it this time but this is not acceptable. We were a bit shocked as there really wasn't much left over unless off course they expected us the lick the plates clean. I wanted to argue that you gave us triple the size of a normal starter portion, that's not our fault, and when people order normally one or two pieces are normally left over, but as it was Father's Day we didn't want to ruin the lunch, so we paid without a tip and left. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant considering it was Father's Day, and a nice afternoon. But then we weren't surprised as if this is the kind of customer service they give why would people want to go there.We had gone 6 months ago, food was good, that's why we decided to go again. But this time food wasn't great, and poor customer service. We will not be visiting this restaurant again, if this is how they treat their customers.Disappointing.

We went there on Tuesday night which it was champions league night and we watched a game with the combination of excellent Indian food. The all you can eat option is very good and really worth of money. But be prepared to go there hungry and also don't forget that you have to eat what's on the plate otherwise you are gonna be charged more. Not a problem if you are hungry and love amazing Indian food. Also, a great selection of beers and drinks.!!

Nice place to eat no frills busy had to book as it got very packed. The venue is a bar attached is a small Indian restaurant, serving a fusion of Indian, Chinese and Kenyan dishes. For a small amount you can eat as much as you like. My favorite was the Jeera chicken and the chicken mince. It has a wide selection for vegetarians as well. Good food

At no point you complained about other dishes until you were given the bill which was under £40 between two of you. I advised you that our policy is to replace a dish if you were not satisfied. I apologised for your disappointment and offered you 15% and also offered you a drink. You wanted 9.99 deal. I said to you that you ordered a prawn dish which not included the deal. Even your friend said to you except the discount but you refused and insisted to pay the full bill. All our customers satisfaction and enjoyment at our premises is and will always be paramount to us.

Was excellent 5 months ago with big fat juicy shish kebabs. Terrible now. Old cucumbers. Cold microwaved food, cold mixed grill, rubbery chicken in mixed grill. The chicken wings were pink inside a few weeks ago, they caused me to be sick. I shouldn't have gone back, but I wanted to give the place another chance. Tarka daal with thick skin on the top, the list is endless. I would give 0 stars if possible. Standard is dire now, they are only interested in making money now. I'm really disappointed because I've lost the only Indian that I eat at and it was local. Won't be going back. Visited on a Friday night at 8. It was busy, this is no excuse to serve inedible food. The owner offered a paltry 15% off the bill, I said don't bother. Go here at your risk. The question is, do you feel lucky?.....
