Gusto Italian in Cheshire East

Food and service excellent, but portions very small ?child portion or starter portion and for that reason would not return to the restaurant.

The food was absolutely delicious, with an amazing vegan steak and other nice vegan options on the side and as dessert as well. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was top-notch. Have to give a special shoutout to Tilly, who was incredibly friendly and attentive and made the whole evening even better. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great Italian food with excellent service.

Service was very slow. I was ignored by the staff and in the end I had to ask for my food since we’d been waiting for over an hour. Then they had the nerve to throw a £25 service charge. I won’t be going back.

Unfortunately we had a bad experience this mother's day. We expected the restaurant to be busy but we were there 2.5 hours, we waiting over an hour for our main to arrive. And the food was poor, we had roasts, the potatoes were boiled not roasted, food was cold, had to ask for gravy twice. Kids pizza didn't come for the making at table process. Really disappointed

Arrived on mothers day at 15.20 didn't leave until 18.20 throught big delays between courses very disappointed with today's service.

Had an awful experience here a few weeks ago (2nd March). My partner ordered a vegan meal which came with a Yorkshire pudding to which she asked if it was vegan as they’re usually made with egg. You assured us twice it was vegan and then told us it wasn’t, snatched the plate away, took the Yorkshire pudding off and then proceeded to give us the same plate back. The lovely brunette waitress then proceeded to argue with us that we should have told her we had an allergy when we ordered. We don’t when an allergy, we ordered vegan meal… which you served non-vegan. She said “we take allergies really seriously so we need you to tell us if you have any” despite never asking if we had an allergy when we ordered. She then ignored our table throughout our meal and made our experience really awkward. She was clearly whispering to other members of staff in front of us and had a face on her the whole time. It was genuinely pathetic. Will never be eating here again. Can’t believe how rude your staff are. If you want to know who this is you can contact me or sort your sour faced staff out.

waited for ages food was cold so disappointed service was good it’s not their fault but when you know it’s going to be busy you should be more organised £144 on a meal which we waited nearly 2 hours for what a joke

Had a nice time at Gusto, Knutsford. The service and atmosphere were very good. Unfortunately some of the dishes weren’t up to their usual standard. The Carbonara was quite dry and the pasta too thick which didn’t help. I’m hoping this was a one off though and usually the standard is very high. The puddings, now verging on £10 each were also very average and small portions for the price.

We've been a regular here and never had a problem. Last night the simplest of meals were oily, greasy, didn't taste great and the service was very friendly. The h8ney thyme lemon and chicken meal didn't taste right. Wasn't touched didn't question what was wrong let alone offered to remove off the bill. Tomatoe garlic pizza bread didn't have much tomatoe on it but very garlic. Carbonara was dry for two meals. Disappointed duck has been taken off the menu as this was always a l9vely meal. Drinks were more than 50% ICE for the soft drinks

Very good service, great food, small brownie for price

I found the food to be over priced for what it is. The cod was about the most bland I have ever tasted - I could have cooked better myself. The cups served with a pot of tea are also far too small. There was a hidden extra service charge too - rather unacceptable given the high price of the food. I wouldn’t visit again.

The food is always fresh here. They catered for my dairy intolerance without a problem. The service by Nick was swift and pleasant as always. We are going to come back soon!

We usually go to Gusto Knutsford every month for a date lunch and are never disappointed. Special thanks to Nicholas for his spicy steak tartar!

We've recently joined the platinum club and been going fairly regularly. My daughter absolutely loves the kids menu and really enjoys making her own pizza at the table. The Sunday roast is delicious, with the carbonara coli cheese being an absolute winner. The staff are always very friendly and efficient.

Food was great - attitude of the staff was rather lacking. The people who served us looked fed up and pissed off - only one member of staff with lightish brown/dark blonde hair in a blue shirt was pleasant - he was lovely - but because we were served by staff who made us feel like we were being a chore we didn’t leave a tip. Would have stayed longer for more drinks if it hadn’t been for the people who served us.

The atmosphere is nice and pleasant, the staff are friendly but the food need some improvement. Please invite me for a second review if you make any changes. Delighted to assist.

I do love a mid week Gusto always good M

This place borderlines average, to below par, without the prices to match. We initially came here last year after our child was diagnosed with coeliac as it seemed a 'safe' option (GF menus, allergen lists, cross-contamination kitchen protocols etc). We were impressed first time purely because they were so diligent about the coeliac req's. However our food was pretty average. We returned, in a larger group last night and left feeling regretful we hadn't gone somewhere more casual, reasonable yet better quality. The food was average at best, the service was 'okay' but staff seem to struggle a little with the basics, i.e. having the table ready and set on time for the booking (despite the restaurant being noticeably quiet - 4pm on a Sunday). One of the main thing that matters to us is safety/consistency in coeliac-safe restaurants. They didn't take the usual protocol for my sons food, we queried this to which the waiter replied 'I can go back to the kitchen and put an allergen marker in his food if you like' (sort of defeats the purpose!). We were then charged for a 2 course kids meal despite our child only being able to order a main course due to no suitable starter/desert options. £11 quid for a 'watered down' ragu sauce for a 4 year old, brilliant. The rest of the food was so average, it was such a disappointment. Really nothing of the authentic Italian experience. All pasta was soft, not al dente. Ragu was nothing of a rich, reduced, meaty sauce we expect but rather a pale, watery-looking bolognaise. Crab fettuccine a was bland and hardly contained any crab (a few small flakes I struggled to taste - and my taste buds are quite refined). Sauce described as a rich lobster bisque with fresh dill, but was actually nothing more than a splash of olive oil with fresh parsley sprinkled on top. The one tasty dish at the table was the scallop and prawn ravioli, but of course for £20 a pop, a handful of parcels didn't quite hit the mark. Portion size suggestive of a starter, not an entree/main course. We will not be returning. This is with regret as I find the overall ambience of the restaurant delightful. It's warm, cosy, stylish and beautifully decorated and lit. Barman very friendly as we waited for our tables. That's where the magic starts and ends. We all agreed that we actually think the quality of the produce, taste and overall service is much superior at the laughably casual and high-street Pizza Express several doors down. Sadly it doesn't have the ambience of Gusto but for the price, service and value-for-money contrast, it's a clear choice to make next time for our coeliac-safe, family-friendly Italian dining in Knutsford.

We had a fantastic Valentine’s Day lunch here! The staff was warm and welcoming, and every dish was delicious—from the focaccia and olives to the sourdough pizza, ragu, and affogato. Even on a busy day, the service was excellent, and nothing felt rushed. I have food allergies, and the staff was incredibly attentive, ensuring everything was safe for me. Beautiful space, great wine—we’re definitely coming back.

Very very poor service for a weekday evening. Restaurant was quiet and the service was diabolical. We waiting 15 minutes to even have our drinks order taken. No one asked us if our food was ok at all. For the service charge to be over £15 for no service at all is not good. We usually come often as we love the food but will definitely re think next time.
