Fancied an Indian takeaway so decided to try the Gurkha. Ordered online and picked it up 20 minutes later. My wife said it was the best Biryani she’s had in years. I thoroughly enjoyed a mixed tandoori grill. Will definitely try again, perhaps next time we’ll eat in the restaurant. The menu also has Nepalese dishes which I want to try, and a separate bar for those who just want a drink.

Perfect Indian food with a lovely Nepalese twist, great service and pretty reasonable too. Few days break walking in the area and so good we went back 2 nights later !

Booked to stay here through Expedia, Received a phone call from Gurkha to say they had been overbooked so they would have to cancel my booking. I've been chasing a refund ever since. Still haven't received my money back.

Friendly service, great atmosphere, lovely food with an affordable price tag. We left with a mouthful of flavours and would highly recommend.

The food was outstanding, well done to the chef. The waitress was attentive and made sure she had the order right. The only complaint/observation was the noise of the chairs scraping across the tiles on the floor. Reminded me a bit of a school canteen. But the food was really very good noise. Rubber stoppers on the chair legs would soon sort that out. The food was absolutely wonderfull. We will be back. That out. that out.

Had a family meal to celebrate our grandson’s 18th birthday. The meal as always was superb. We also had an interesting conversation with the owner with regards to the Gurkha regiment with which my eldest son and I are very interested in.

Magnificent meal. Staff are so friendly and wonderful. Food is amazing! The Woolaston Inn is lovely inside too such a relaxing place to be.

Absolutely fantastic can highly recommend. The food is superb! We were a large group of 10 and everyone loved it and no complaints only when can we all meet up again.

We visited on a very busy Saturday evening. A lovely reception by all the staff. Nothing was too much trouble The food was exceptional from the starter .through to the main course. Generous portions (Even had a doggy bag) Highly recommended as always. Also, a very good selection of drinks, and the takeaways were very busy.

Delicious food, tastes so fresh and full of flavour. We have only had takeaway from the Ghurka and it is divine every time. It’s one of those dinners I never want to end.

My partner and I paid £80.00 to stay in this establishment. It was one of our worst stays anywhere. We did not receive a friendly welcome by the staff. It felt cold and damp. Dirty carpets dirty nets. Hanging down from windows. Our room was shabby dated cold. The TV was hanging off the wall. The wardrobe was leaning over so could not hang our clothes up. Holes in bed sheet. Mould in bathroom. Drawer missing from chest of drawers. No toilet roll. And damp patch on wall. We had booked a meal there and had to wait an hour to be served. And then the food came out at different times. We were still there at 10.30pm. Outrageous!. I contacted booking.com and they are still trying to get our refund back. I think they should do the decent thing. Instead of ignoring things.

This was our 1st visit. We have just had a very nice meal at the Gurkha. The meal was nicely presented,well cooked with plenty of flavour, staff were pleasant and attentive at the table

It was the promise of a close affiliation with this restaurant - convenient for a family gathering - that prompted a stay at the Woolaston Inn and the restaurant food was excellent 👌 Good flavours in the Macha [fish] curry and the Lamb and chicken were equally good. We were recommended by a local B and B to eat here and it was a good choice! It was a busy Saturday night but the service was good and friendly. The food was delicious and plentiful so much that I had a takeaway as well with my leftovers! The only downside was the level of noise but we did have a very noisy family close to us. A quieter floor covering could be considered.

Nice setting for a restaurant. Gardens kept immaculately and plenty of parking space. Had booked beforehand, but probably not necessary on a Wednesday. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Quite a simple menu overall, but preferable to hundreds of choices, which can be a bit confusing. Didn't have a starter. The main course was lovely. Spicy, but not too hot. Weren't kept waiting too long. Beers and wines very reasonably priced and white wine very cold, which was a welcome surprise. Highly recommended family-run restaurant, good for cosy, intimate couples or group outings.

My family was accomodated as a late booking and we were welcomed warmly. Nothing was too much trouble and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

Ordered a takeaway now 30 minutes after I was told it would be ready. Been plenty of times, food is always excellent but this isn't the first time this has happened, unreliable service really puts me off
