First time we’ve eaten here , it was recommended to us and we weren’t disappointed, the place was packed so we were a bit worried we’d have to wait ages but that wasn’t the case , the food was excellent as was the service, we will definitely be back !

We got a takeaway from here. Big menu and easy to order online. Lots of Nepalese dishes alongside your classic curries (Bhuna, Dansak etc). Good food and reasonably priced.

Being local we’ve been here a few times , but not for a while. We were , overall , very disappointed. Staff are still smart and polite , it’s still very clean. But the quality of ingredients has noticeably gone down hill and were very poor. Without a doubt mostly frozen meat and king prawns which made the dishes quite underwhelming , shame. Enough to say we won’t rush back

I’ve not yet eaten here in person, but every time we’ve ordered delivery the food and service have been excellent! The momo, vegetable Manchurian, Gurkha Special, and mango curry are all top-notch.

Today we had a great time at Gurkha Chef. The food was simply exquisite,specially the Momo & Kathmandu Rice. And I would also like to specially mention about the warm hospitality and impeccable service.

Malvern is blessed with this fine courteous and exceptional restaurant. The reviews from previous diners are a genuine example of this quality establishment in central Malvern. Entertaining my American guest from North Carolina I chose this venue in view of the exceptional reviews. The service and menu is quite outstanding. The friendly, helpful staff will gladly assist and explain their menu in order that one choses the right dish. I would suggest the Nepal Experience as distinct from the Indian option, after all the meal choices reflect that countries cuisine. The extensive menu will indicate a 'pepper symbol' - (1 - 2 or 3) to indicate the intense flavours. However the chef will alter a particular dish to accommodate one's preference. I would further recommend the Gurkha beer for a refreshing alternative. The restaurant floor area is not too large, reservations are preferred but not essential. I look forward to my return.

Took my Mum here for a birthday meal with a few family and friends. Seriously lovely place. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was absolutely fantastic. We had a big mix of things and they all came out perfect and together. Can't say enough about how tasty the food was.

I was amazed to read all the 5 star reviews. Visited last night with in a group of friends.Arrived at 7, ordered at 7.15, mains arrived at 8.40!! Staff very pleasant but quite ineffective, despite us having asked where our main courses were after waiting for over an hour.No real explanation, just a Shrug and ‘they’re on the way’.No apologies at all. No water glasses laid on table, even after asking for 4 jugs.Common sense would have seen the poppadams and 4 starters delivered at the same time, but they weren’t.Since we weren’t all having starters, we then had to wait ages for the mains, with no explanation at all.Staff seemed too busy walking through the restaurant with takeaways.These should not take a precedence over customers sitting in the restaurant.One of the group had an inedible prawn korma.This was taken off the bill at the end after a complaint, but there was still a charge for her rice.Felt the food could have been hotter in temperature and the portions larger.Usually, a pilau portion will do 2, but not here. I will not be returning,When I book a table for 7pm, I do not expect to start my main at 8.50.The mains took 5 mins to arrive because everyone seemed to have either their rice or main first, then had to wait for the rest of the meal to appear. There didn’t seem to be any one individual who was a manager to whom one could complain at the end.All very disorganized and disappointing, with staff unable to respond satisfactorily to our comments about timings.Perhaps we were just unlucky.The food was generally ok but the wait, unacceptable.

Hands down THE best curry spot in all of Malvern, maybe even Worcestershire. Huge portions, and absolutely amazing quality. Can’t fault it.

Enjoyed the meal and service was excellent

Early dinner (the open at 5pm) after a show at Malvern Theatre which is 5 mins walk away. We are both VEGANS and LOVED the clear menu which made it easy to see the plant-based choices. Plus we had great help from the lovely staff. The food and service were excellent and the cost was reasonable. We'll definitely be back!

We visited as a take away customer whilst on holiday in the area. The food was amazing. We are fans of Asian food so we do eat it often, but this was the best food we have had, (and we are both in our 60s so we have eaten a lot 😄). It was so good we visited a second time in one week, and it was as good the second time as the first. This is a must eat place. Staff were friendly, everything sparkling clean, and the price reasonable but the food is the star.

Try the Kathmandu Lamb Curry! Generous potion of beautiful, lean chunks of lamb in a fragrant curry sauce cooked in fresh spices. The best lamb curry I've ever had!

The food was unbelievable and the staff really good 5⭐️. I advise anybody passing through or visiting to give it a go, I dnt normally leave reviews but this place deserves it.

We had a large table for a family celebration and had a great evening. The food was fantastic. The best curry I've had in years. From the poppadom sauces, which were delicious to a tasty lamb samosa and a fabulous curry. Will definitely go back again.

Visit to Malvern & decided to give The Ghurka Chef a try, absolutely amazing from start to finish. Ghurka beer fantastic, brilliant food.

By far beat Indian I've ever had... The service was exquisite couldn't fault anything, clean and tidy the staff were like a well oiled pit stop.

We turned up without booking and were warmly received without fuss. Pleasant environment not over-decorated but with some lovely pictures of Nepal. Waiters all polite and attentive without being excessively so. A very full menu with many choices, allergies and other requirements all noted against each dish and where there was doubt the waiter would confirm. (I am just vegetarian which here was very easy and I had many options.) All was very well presented and tasted delicious - sadly our appetites couldn't manage the portion sizes but taking items away was not a problem. We don't drink but they produced masala chai for us - always a welcome find. Very reasonably priced - and exceptional when considering the quality Highly recommended - and many thanks to the waiter who ran after me in the rain as I had left a jumper behind.

They are good at noodle and momo ( dumplings) , paneer dishes but forewarned their spice is too hot even for an Indian. Rice dishes not great not recommended. Staff are super friendly gave me lots of yoghurts to cool me.

What a wonderful experience me, my family and friends had at this restaurant. Service was on point with very friendly and polite staff. The food was even better and really met the standards of an Indian and Nepalese fine dine. A must go place that will not disappoint.

Stayed in Malvern for the weekend and was looking for a good restaurant to eat in. We have never tried Nepalese before but we are so glad we did. The staff were very smartly dress with traditional Nepalese hats,very polite and good table service. The food was amazing and well presented,if recommend the mango curry or Nepalese curry with chicken or king prawn. Also the gurka beer is nice for a change and comes in large bottles. The only thing I would say is that it's all open planned like one room so you can't really have a private conversation without the people on the next table hearing. Other than that I'd highly recommend to anyone looking for a good quality meal.

Came with a very old friend. The food was really nice but the place was let down by the very drunk and loud customers who were pretty rude. I’d get takeaway from there though and if you went in the week I’m sure fine. Cheap too!

Just had a fab meal here as a late staff Christmas celebration. Food was fantastic, all 6 of us enjoyed everything. The service was friendly & efficient. Will definitely be back. Very reasonable prices too for both food and drink.

After a day out shopping in Swindon, we decided to come home and have a meal at Flute , however they were fully booked, so we went next door to Gurkha Chef So glad we did, as the food was excellent and the service impeccable. Gurkha Special with chicken was perfectly spiced. Poppadoms not greasy and the Cucumber Riata cool and refreshing. Couldnt fault anything. Highly recommended.

We have Gurkha Chef takeaway every now and again. The food here is always incredible. The range of dishes are amazing and the portions are great. Also, we always have a side salad with raita to go with our takeaway and it is always so fresh. Delivery is always reasonable and the food arrives hot. So glad to have this Indian just 10 minutes away.

Excellent food. Attentive and friendly service. Needs to be decorated in a less stark way and then there would be more ambience. I found it a bit like eating in a canteen.

We were staying locally and saw the 5 tar tripadvisor rating so that decided us as we rarely see this rating level for restaurants. We were not disappointed. Service was excellent and prices very reasonable but the food was so good it was worth the full rating.

We had outstanding meal out last night. My third trip , but some people's first and all were unanimous thst it was a great evening . We first discovered the Gurka Chef when we were house hunting earlier in the year and since our move from Kent it has become our ‘go to’ restaurant of choice when we want to have a meal out. Lovely staff, very friendly and delicious food. Some unusual regional dishes which are wonderful. Have taken friends and family and all have enjoyed it. Indeed we are booked in for Christmas Eve!

I had been here before, last Christmas, with a group of mates and it was brilliant. This year I took my wife as an anniversary treat. It was, of course, excellent. Food delicious...well cooked...large portions. Service impeccable....we will be back next year...probably on many occasions.

We visit this restaurant regularly. The service is excellent and the food is superb. The best Asian restaurant I have ever visited. I highly recommend it.

Went early on a Wednesday night for our first visit. The place was packed and buzzing! We were welcomed warmly and staff were friendly and polite taking our order. The food was really very good. We had a mix of veggie and meaty stuff and it was just great. One of us mentioned we loved their exceptionally good mango sauce and they proudly gave us a couple of pots of it as we left! Will definitely be making regular trips to this little gem.

Best lamb I have ever had in the Special Tawa and I have travelled extensively in India, Sri Lanka and Nepal (I have managed University courses as well as going on holidays). It's a shame that you can't get the yak meat in the UK.

Varied menu, great ambience, lovely friendly staff and the food is amazing. They are happy to work to dietary requirements as well which is great for someone on a vegan diet such as myself. Husband loves the Himalayan, best curry he has have had apparently! Highly recommended.

Very busy Saturday night. Very noisy. Service slow. Sadly, my lamb dupiaza was bland. Didn't look right - Very grey and without expected green Peppers. Rice was wet/oily and its a shame that the mixed kebab starter doesn't come on a sizzler anymore, but on a cold plate with half cooked onions. However, by contrast, my husband enjoyed a lovely special biriani. Full of taste with a good side vegetable curry

Can't recommend Gurkha Chef enough. The food is excellent, we have dined here many times, tried most of the menu, and never been disappointed. The service is very good, there is always someone nearby to bring you any extras but with discretion. The staff are so very friendly. Our most favourite dining venue by miles. We'll done everyone who works there.

This is my favourite restaurant in Malvern. I once took a party of 11 grumpy middle-aged blokes here and they were all delighted with the high quality of cuisine and the happy smiling staff, who were attentive and efficient. The decor could do with a refresh though. It does look a bit bland inside. Notwithstanding this 11 grumpy middle-aged blokes were transformed into 11 happy middle-aged blokes thanks to the Gurkha Chef! I wholeheartedly and unreservedly recommend this restaurant for a night out with friends and family.

Amazing food, amazing momos, must try restaurant in the region

I've had several takeaways from here and tonight we tried the dine in experience and it didn't disappoint. The food is excellent and the service is everything you would expect from this wonderful Nepalese restaurant. I cannot recommend the Special Tawa and Kathmandu rice enough they are my favourites from the menu the chilli chicken starter is also delicious. Cannot wait to come back again. I wish I had more pictures of the food but I was too busy enjoying it and forgot.

It was our first visit to Gurkha Chef in Great Malvern and were really pleased with the food quality , restaurant ambience and service of the restaurant staff .Even though we didnt had any reservation but the staff gave us a nice table and served us really well although they were busy on Bank holiday weekend. We had veg momos, veg manchurian, dal makhani, and mango kulfi . The taste was really good and would love to come back 🙂.

Busy on a Saturday evening, nearly all tables occupied. Friendly service, ordered the Chicken Lollipop and Lamb Special Tawa, all very good. Be warned, the Tawa is quite spicy.

The most amazing and flavourful "Indian" style (Nepalese) food I've ever had. Not sure I want to ever go back to a traditional Indian restaurant after this...it's that good! We had the most tender lamb Royal Tawa (#32) and the king prawn Jomsom (#42). The mix of spices was perfect, allowing you to enjoy the flavour of the meat/fish and not be overpowered by the spices. We'll be back soon.

Wow, our first meal from Gurkha kitchen, and most definitely will return. Couldn't fault anything. Great website is easy to navigate, gives a good estimate for delivery time which was spot on. Food was delivered piping hot, flavours in the food were amazing. Can't wait for the next one.

Me and my partner visited this restaurant Friday night and ever since he has been violently sick and had severe stomach cramps. The food was very oily and left a horrible film in our mouths. It's safe to say we did not enjoy our meals and left most of mine and we won't be visiting the place again. Staff were lovely and very quick service sadly food let them down.

Food was tasty. If you sat me down blindfolded here (Nepalese) or any other good (Indian/Bangladeshi) curry house my uneducated palate would be hard pressed to tell the difference. Worth a visit despite this, we had a good night.

Wow what a difference two weeks makes. Had a great experience two weeks ago and as such decided to order another take away on line tonight. Ordered at 430pm for a 630pm pick up Arrived at restaurant spot on 630pm - guy on desk seemed confused and couldn’t recall our order !! He eventually located it and we received it 15 minutes later than we had ordered - it for “disappointing “ -but not a show stopper as they were Very busy. However once we got it home and started dishing up .. it was: Simply - YUK … our £20.25p take away was cold / burnt and VERY bland. Certainly nothing like the “ reviews” we have read. Nor was it anyway on par with our meal two weeks ago. PS / tried several times to ring and voice the above to management . However we were told sorry line is really poor we are very busy … “ can you ring back later”?

Great Nepalese cuisine served (with classic Indian dishes too) by some very friendly staff. We had a great meal with some really interesting dishes (I had the Gurkha Special which was gorgeous, lots of flavours with a good amount of spice). My wife had the mango chicken. A bit sweet for me but to her taste. My son had the Palpali…lovely! Could do with a bit more atmosphere but the good food and warm hospitality made up for it!
