Stayed here for 2 nights and wow, best hotel in London, the staff are amazing, the rooms are beautiful and clean, very comfortable bed, the manager and staff make you feel really special and go all out to help and make your stay comfortable, great experience especially as it’s cheaper than many hotels in this area, will definitely use again when I visit London 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I turned up at this establishment looking forward to staying for the two nights that I booked.... For next year!!!! What an eeejit! The bar man from Dundee ( sorry I didn't catch his name) could not have been kinder he gave me a glass of prosecco to settle my frazzled mind! I would highly recommend this place even though I never stayed the staff are really nice and a really lovely atmosphere! So even if it's just to drop in for a nice crisp cold glass of prosecco! Do it! 😁

The Gunmakers Arms truly stands out as a gem of a pub, delivering an experience that goes beyond the ordinary. From the moment you walk through the door, you’re greeted with an atmosphere that is both cozy and bustling, a perfect balance of warmth and energy that instantly makes you feel at home. The friendly staff go above and beyond with their professional and exceptional hospitality, Jonathan and Blare treats each guest like a valued friend. It’s clear that they take pride in creating an inviting environment, where every detail has been thoughtfully considered to make your visit memorable. Whether you’re there for a quick pint or a long evening at their restaurant with friends or family, the Gunmakers Arms offers not just a place to drink but a true sense of community. It’s a rare find where top notch service and a welcoming vibe come together so seamlessly. Highly recommended!

The location is excellent! Located very conveniently for access to all the main shops, bars and restaurants. The pub downstairs is a bonus and although it was exceptionally busy whilst we stayed, the noise couldn’t be heard in the room. The room would benefit from a little upgrade, there was obvious damp on the wall by the bed and the bathroom blind didn’t work, the mechanics had been removed and was permanently down. It was also stained and grubby. The bed was comfy and it had everything we needed for a short stay. The staff, welcome and service was great.

Stayed one Thursday night here in the Sherlock Holmes room in January 2024. I chose it as a good location near to Harley Street for an early morning appointment and close to Marylebone station, so an easy walk from the train. The room was lovely, I had a very comfortable night's sleep, as others have said it's surprisingly quiet for a central location over a busy pub. I did a bit of late shopping on nearby Oxford Street again an easy stroll from Gunmakers. I ate fish and chips in my room as I was travelling solo and the bar was busy with the twenty-something after work crowd. The staff couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. There's a voucher for breakfast at a nearby bistro which I didn't use but was a nice touch. The room was warm and there's a thermostat to adjust the temperature. I would definitely stay again.

I definitely felt the need to write a review for my stay at Gunmakers, since there are so few that actually reference the lodging provided (most just focused on the pub-side of the business). I stayed here on two different instances in September 2023, before heading up north to hike Hadrian's Wall, and again upon my return to London, before flying back home. Overall, both stays were very nice. I stayed in the same room both times, on the top floor. While the views out the window weren't anything special, the room overall was quite comfortable. For meals, if you choose to eat at Gunmakers, you can either go down to the pub or you can call down to place an order and they'll deliver it to your room. The location was perfect, on a quiet side-street and well-priced for being in Marylebone. There are a couple rail stations that are with easy walking distance. Otherwise, several of the city's landmarks are within easy walking distance, if you're not in a rush, including The British Museum, Buckingham Palace, St. James Park, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, and the London Eye. The only thing that was a bit awkward was going to bar and explaining you're there to check-in for lodging and not there for food/drink, especially if it's during a busy time for the pub. It might be worth looking into an alternative way to handle this side of the business, but still, it was overall a fairly easy process. Checking out was much smoother - all you need to do is drop your room key in a dropbox as you're leaving the building. Overall, I would certainly stay here again the next time I'm in London.

We recently stayed at the Gunmakers for a weekend and it’s safe to say we will definitely be back ! A lovely little pub in a great location, near Oxford street shops and attractions within short walking distance which was ideal for us. We arrived early and were greeted by a very nice staff member who stored our luggage until our room was ready, whilst we were gone for the day. Our room was very clean and even when the pub was busy was nice and quiet. We had lunch the next day which was nice ( the steak sandwich in particular ) All the staff are very friendly and pleasant and even when busy very attentive . Although we didn’t bring ours this time the 10% doggy discount Is a great idea Overall great stay !!!

Reports from various sources, including Trip Advisor, were reasonably positive so it was a huge surprise to find that we were virtually the only customers between 12.15 and 1.45pm for a mid-week lunch. The large bar and eating areas felt underused and lacked atmosphere but the barmaid tried her best to look after us. The lunch menu was very limited and offered boring choices. I asked about the sourcing and type of fish used in the fish and chips (thinking cod or haddock). Our friendly barmaid asked the kitchen who replied white flaky fish from Vietnam. This certainly did not appeal so I opted for the steak pudding, chips and mushy peas. At least it arrived hot and with an extra jug of gravy so not quite the "end of the culinary world" scenario that I was envisaging. However, I cannot think of any good reason for returning and clearly previous regulars have come to the same conclusion.

So, this is a place for a burger that I cannot recommend enough! Popped in for a drink and discovered a culinary miracle, and the most thoughtful and accommodating service being offered. After chatting to Nick the chef about vegetarian burgers. We were convinced to stay and sample their menu. There were three of us and each one of us ordered a burger, which included a beef, chicken and a specially made vegetarian one. All three of these burgers were absolutely tremendous. A good burger should be flavoursome, chunky, packed with all those wonderful accompaniments and served with fries, that compliment the succulence within your bun. On every point, Nick offers a beautifully presented feast, packed with flavour, that made me want to order a second one, 15 minutes later. Thank you so much to Nick and Savannah and this is a must do, if you are after an amazing bite with your winter evening tipple. The Guinness and the wine is great too. Enjoy!

Our first stop this trip to Marylebone. A classic pub! Once frequented by Winston Churchill, it is now frequented by a cat most of the time, at least it was the day we visited. Food and drink were very good. I had the "hot dog", which was really a sliced sausage on a bun, but it was good. The beer was tasty. Loved the interior, has many upholstered seats, which I needed after a long trip over the ocean. Server was very nice to us. The area has many other attractions, meaning shops, stores, and a farmers market on Sunday. I plan to return on our next trip.

Nice to find an old boozer that's still got all its character. A very attractive pub from the outside; internally its well laid out with all the seating around the outside and what looks like original marquetry wood panelling & a few big TVs for the sports. Plenty of decent beers inc lots of London craft ales. Big areas for standing so there's a great 'after office' buzz. A proper drinkers pub. However, the bogs are the smelliest I've smelt in 20 years anywhere. Wouldn't be out of place on a French campsite from the 70's. Enough to put you off ordering any food.

This is a small busy pub which is fine for a drink and to watch football on the TV. The food seems to be freshly cooked to order, takes some time to arrive and is hot. However, this is not somewhere to eat.Steer clear of the light bites. The fried squid was hot but tasteless. The shrimp "fritter" was four separate bundles of something thick and gungy with two shrimps in each bundle and tasted dreadful. The plate of pasta at £12.90 with bacon and mushroom considered of a bowl of pasta in a creamy sauce with a couple of minute squares of bacon and one or two thinly cut slices of the tiniest mushroom. Not at all enticing and vastly overpriced for what it was. Those of us who had the burger in a bun said it was fine. The dishes were served to us without any cutlery or indication where it was. We managed to find some in a dresser together with some serviettes. Only visit for a drink, definitely not to eat.

I heard many bad reviews regarding the quality of the food recently, but I remember their glorious food I once had... I thought I should gave them a second chance to prove themselves, then I ordered probably the most over priced prawn pasta in terms of it's quality, £12.90 for a plate of food that college students can throw it together with their eyes closed. It was bland, cheap ingredients and only 4 small prawns can be found on the plate. Really disappointed. I would only go there for drinks but not for the food.

What sets this place apart is the warmth of the people who manage it. Not saccharine sweet and synthetic like a tourist trap place. If you are looking for obsequious service, look elsewhere. If you are looking for a real hospitality, great conversation and genuine people, come to the gun maker. After visiting more than my share of places restaurant, cafe, bar etc, I realize that the ones I remember most are not the ones with the best food or decor or celebrity owners and chefs but about the people who actually make it special while being themselves not textbook hosts. If I can associate Gun Makers with one name, it is Laura. She makes it work because she seems to live and live what she does. In complete control without looking hurried, harried or haughty. Attentive, warm and intelligent. sensitive to the place and the patrons. She advised about other neighborhood restaurants. Drinks, snacks etc.She even refused a tip. And she has a great partner behind the bar in Shannon. Look forward to going there again soon. You should definitely give it a try. You'll thank me. :-)

El pub es muy agradable, en madera, con terraza y wifi gratuito. Está al lado de zonas de afluencia, pero aún así el pub no se llena como otros de la zona. Muy agradable para hablar y tomarse el último trago antes de ir a casa.

Not a destination pub. But ok for a quick beer. Off the beaten track. Odd location but a decent old fashioned boozer which you take as you see it.

Popped in here for a quick drink. A very attractive looking traditional pub with a good selection of beers. Slightly off the beaten track so has more of local feel. Unfortunately a couple of things take away from the place. TVs seem to dominate the inside of the pub, and sitting outside you overlook a car park and the back of a waitrose

Good beer, plenty of screens and lively pub atmosphere. Ideal haunt and the service was great in that the minimum spend for card was a tenner so I left two pints in, and the barman took me in my word when I called them in. Like being in yorkshire.

The pub itself is not bad. The staff, however, exude an indifference bordering on contempt. Expect to wait ages to catch someone's eye and for your change to be slammed down on the counter rather than handed back which is the traditional method. Maybe that was a signal not to intrude on a private conversation between the permanently distracted bar staff. And don't even think about ordering food unless you have a hour or so to spare. Or the temerity to enquire whether it's still coming. It is. They just can't say when.

Unfortunately I had my bag stolen whilst out for a drink. The bar staff were helpful but subsequently the manager was always too busy to talk to the police and the CCTV was recorded over. Not a great customer experience for such a stressful incident. On this basis I won't be going back.

Been twice for lunch during work. Absolutely awful! Do not go there unless it's just for a drink if desperate. Food was just terrible. A party of 6 had meals delivered over a period of 45 mins. I had gammon and egg & chips. The egg was rock solid, the Gannon was hard and grisly. Give a miss.

We happened to be in the area around lunch time on weekend and we found this pub by chance.Exterior was quite traditional and charming. There were some tables outside. Inside was not so much charming. Probably locals come here to watch sports or something from my observation. We aimed to have sunday roast. Beef was already gone and only options were lamb and pork. Probably it is local the volume was huge and taste was surprisingly good as well.

I’ve been with a friend to see the World cup match – Brazil vs The Netherlands – and we had a pleasant time! It’s a typical English pub very nice on the outside and, nothing too fancy on the inside but with 3 big TVs to see the match and a quite good bar. I haven’t eaten in here or been to the toilet so I cannot review if the food was good or the toilets clean – but the atmosphere was good! I’ll probably say that it’s not made particularly for women but, better be with guys as well. It’s a pub especially used for people that work there and want to have a beer before heading back home. My only concern was the police arriving inside the pub – nothing was happening at that very moment as far as I was concerned (keeping in mind that the pub is located in a very posh and expensive area), but 2 policeman came in and went behind the bar and down to the basement – and- they stayed there for a long time considering that I saw the end of the match, stayed a bit outside to have a cigarette and headed back home. What they were doing? I honestly have no idea but no one looked surprised. I will recommend this place just for a drink or when there’s a football or rugby match – otherwise who will ever go an eat at a pub? I mean it’s really rare to find quality food. I’m not sure if I would recommend this pub..

Do not go in there, Terrible place. We use it sometimes for lunch. Well no more.. awful. Food was terrible, I only ordered gammon and egg and chips. It took nearly the whole hour to arrive. The plate was cold, the gammon was cold. The chips were warm and the egg hard. Not what sure the problem was, But you don't need to be a proffessional chef to cook this.Anyway there are other places we'd rather spend our money in. But this isnt one!

The ambience is good as is usually the food. The service is however very patchy depending on which staff members serve you and range from the indifferent to extremely attentive and friendly.

Marylebone High Street is of course one of London's delights but its few pubs are invariably crowded and noisy. But a block away, away from the traffic and the crowds, is this charmer. The pub has much surviving late Victorian detail, both inside and out, and is on one side of what is effectively a quiet little square, which often features a farmers' market. On a December Saturday lunchtime it was half empty, allowing a comfortable hour or so with half an eye on an FA game playing that day on the telly - the only slight noise. Good pints and an excellent tuna baguette, all reasonably priced. Friendly service and quite a few of the others there seemed to be locals. How long can it last?Allegedly once a haunt of Churchill's under its former name, the William Wallace.

I was recommended to go to this pub for its food by the barman at a pub just around the corner even though their pub did food and it looked really nice. That's saying something. The Gunmakers is a great little pub, hanging baskets outside, dark wood panelling and flooring, friendly people serving, good ale and Sky Sports showing the cricket, what else can you ask for from a pub? The food really was exceptional and well priced too. The burger was clearly home made and was extremely tasty, one of the best I've ever had very reasonably priced at £9 too (included chips and a side salad). You could taste the various different herbs and spices in it, and the little pot of relish that came with it was also delicious. Dont normallly write restaurant / pub guides but made an exception in this case as it really was that good, and for anyone visiting the Baker St / Marylebone area and in need of some food or drink then I'd say this was a very good choice.

Comparatively cheap pub thanks to good combination offers (food + drink). Unfortunately it's not quite as comfortable as it's loud and busy. However, we were also there on a Saturday evening.

¡Refrescantemente perfecto!
