First time we tried this place and ordered a delivery. Waited one hour despite being told we’d receive the delivery in 40 mins. Pathetic service, ordered vegetarian food and was delivered one meat dish and egg in the rice despite ordering VEGETARIAN rice. Pics attached. No apology from the lady for the incorrect order and refused to bring us the corrected items because they were “too busy”.Do not recommend at all. Especially for vegetarians.

We visited this very popular local restaurant recently. It was somewhere we have frequented many years ago. We went for lunch and it was not busy so it was a good time to taste what used to be very good food. We had seven or eight dishes which included seaweed, smokey chicken, spare ribs, duck and pancakes etc. The food has unfortunately remained where it was that many years ago before we learned that food dye and msg added to food do not enhance healthy eating. The egg fried rice felt as if it has been re-heated. The smokey chicken was coloured red, the seaweed was soggy. In the light of so many new establishments that serve fresh and healthy food would not return here again. It may be more reasonable than some other nearby chinese restaurants but you get what you pay for.

Lunch on Sunday at Gung Ho was a splendid decision . The choice of assorted starters is immense- we chose two different ribs, sea weed, and pancakes. Just the right amount to set the taste buds going. Mains included crispy chilli beef shreds, sea bass, and sizzling lamb all served with light fluffy rice. Warm saki added just the right degree of authenticity. After that feast, there was no room for dessert but the coffee and lemon tea was respectively good.

We have been regulars here for many years as locals but the last two visits I have been extremely disappointed with the food which has become ordinary and tasteless. Everything seems to taste the same and has little to no seasoning. At these prices at nearly £100 for 3 for 4 starters and 3 mains this simply isn't good enough and I will think twice before going again. It's popular with local residents but with new eateries popping up all the time in West Hampstead they will have to get their act together to retain their loyalty

This restaurant is local to us, and we decided to call for delivery when they opened on a Sunday night. The food arrived very quickly (within 15 minutes). My singapore noodles were generic but edible. My friend's Malaysian rendang lamb was just passable. My wife's four treasures tofu was bland and insipid. However the biggest issue was with the vegetable spring rolls. All of us agreed that they tasted off, and I ended up with stomach pain and had to take Monday off work after staying up all night.

Service was poor, should have known better when no order taken after 30 mins, and we arrived late as people were leaving around 10 pm after a late night working. Seemed as if the food we ordered was forgotten as after another 30 mins, just to get starters they apologised and brought some seaweed which was stone cold. Very average food, can only imagine it is still there as there are no other chinese sit down restaurants in West Hampstead, only Good Earth Express, which has to be a lot better than this tired place with poor food and service, the only thing they brought quickly was the bill, which was mercifully only £60 for 2 of us including wine. These were followed by Dover Sole, served off the bone, with ginger and spring onion plus pak choi and steamed rice which was very good, though a small stray bone caused temporary disquiet. Meanwhile, the Mongolian lamb with lettuce cups (very large ones) was good as also was some tofu in black bean sauce that had a rich, deep flavour. We did not need them but closed with some toffee apple with sesame seed.It was surprisingly unbusy but maybe we were a little late and it was a quiet night generally.Overall, Very Good

This ended up in a disagreement with the manager as I said I have sat down with my husband to eat. I will now have to wait another 45 min, when I am starving. Was very rude. I asked for my money back. Was told no and that the food must be returned. A Friday night when they are not busy (she said on the phone) and less than a minute away. Not impressed. Not a very pleasant experience for my friends and I at this restaurant. We encoutered sub standard service, were kept waiting for over half an hour before a waiter even ventured to take our order, and that was because we physically had to get up and make all kinds of gestures or shout across the restaurant for attention. The starters did not arrive at the same time with the humble spring roll arriving cold, dry and tasteless around 20 minutes after everything else had been eaten. The very same thing happened to the main course and one of our diners was served her meal after all others had already finished theirs. Unfortunately, that main course was just about inedible. As a gesture of good will the manager took out all the first courses from the bill, but to be honest, the entire experience was just totally ruined. Nice for both a casual weekend dinner or for a special occasion. A nice mix of Chinese and other Asian dishes. We tried coconut seafood soup, crispy duck, Korean beef and scallops. All were very nice and justified the somewhat higher price than you would pay at your "local". Highly recommended.

We went to this restaurant because we thought it had a good reputation. Instead we found the place was very, very expensive, that the service was amateur - slow, insufficient staff, badly trained, if at all. You might think that a restaurant which automatically adds a 12.5% service charge has a reputation to maintain. We found this place less than average. The food was not that good. Not that well prepared. The portions were not generous.Give it a miss. We were very disappointed.

I went because Gung Ho advertises some Szechuan food and having been here a few times before, I thought I would focus on Szechuan cuisine. How disappointing. There was virtually no real Szechuan food, the service was slow and not friendly, and the food wasn't great either. I shall not go again.

Don't know what happened to Gung Ho. I had been hyping it for many years to various people as one of the best Chinese restaurants in the area, however, on their visits (and my most recent two) the food seems to have gone downhill in taste and standard. At least the service seems to have improved.

I have been frequenting this Chinese restaurant for some twenty years, and indeed prior, when it was a very good Italian restaurant the name of which escapes me. Well I phoned for a table on Saturday afternoon for two people at 8.30. No problem! A sign of the times. Not in recession proof Hampstead surely. The restaurant was not full and that was a first for a Saturday night here. Indeed through the evening as diners left the tables were not 'turned over'. The food. Bang Bang chicken was good. Salt and pepper ribs were okay ( not in the same league as the Water Margin) and the vegetable tempura was presented in an almost ebony colour (overcooked and in old oil) batter reminiscent of the kind of kevlar like shell used to encase a saveloy in a Briddlington chippy. I always thought tempura batter should be light and sort of attaches itself to the food in places and didn't in others, even with a few lumps here and there. The vegetables inside were 'al dente' or whatever the Chinese equivalent is and warmish. technique. The main courses were supposed to be sizzling sliced veal with leeks. Sizzling it never had been and therefore it had also not been cooked. Rose veal is by nature, pink, this still was pink - raw. The sliced beef with spring onions were congealed and cold. The Singapore noodles had little in them, one or two shrimps and a couple of sinews of chicken and a chalky texture. When told, the waiter offered to replace the offending dishes, which we politely declined. He brought them anyway! We refused. The veal still wasn't sizzling. The service was, due to minimal waiting staff, at best, extremely slow. A diner on an adjacent table got up to go and find a waiter to enquire as to the whereabouts of his food which he had ordered some twenty minutes earlier. I certainly did not propose to leave a gratuity but it was already added to the bill and I didn't have the heart to deprive the despondent looking under pressure waiters. They tried their best. Lord knows what the service would have been like if the restaurant had been full. So, with no booze, just a pot of tea, the ribs, bang bang chicken, tempura and noodles cost £35.00. Good Value?? You decide.

I've been going to this restaurant for around 15 years and (meant in a positive way), things just stay the same. The service has always been a little rushed, but as long as you take control and slow the guys down, they accommodate you nicely.Looking at reviews from others elsewhere it does seem to be a love it/hate it situation and I don't understand why. I fall into the 'love it' camp - quality of ingredients is great, and overall the experience is very good. I guess that I have grown use to the somewhat westernised dishes - and to my mind there's nothing wrong with that - I love this food and will keep going back to this restaurant wherever I am in London.I just wish they'd deliver to Reading..........

Great Chinese food here. Much better than the standard Chinese places and probably on par with Good Earth. Only had the takeaway service though.

We visited to order a take-away meal and were immediately struck by how polite and friendly the staff were. We ordered a number of standards so we could compare the quality with what we normally ask for in Soho Chinatown. The deep-fried squid starter was excellent as were the scallops and prawns in picquant sauce, the sea spice aubergine and the double sauteed string beans. Our only disappointment was the Ma-Po Tofu, where the sauce was rather bland and while there was plenty of tofu there was not much minced pork. Nevertheless, the overall dining experience was an enjoyable one.

The very best Chinese you'll ever have. This is true Chinese a la carte. The food is excellent. Service quite formal. Prices are a little steep, but you're clearly paying for someone talented in the kitchen. Treat yourself.

Food was great, tasty and a good selection suitable for meat lovers to vegetarians (not sure for vegans). Not the cheapest of places but reasonable enough if you have a few friends to order 10 of sk
