Guildhall Taphouse in Derry

Excellent food and very good service. They have a wide variety of options and the ambiance was super friendly and lively.

Went to the Taphouse for a few drinks and a meal. The food was nice, however the service let it down. The waitresses seemed standoffish and one wouldn’t break breath when she was at our table. When our main meal arrived we ordered drinks and the drinks didn’t arrive until we had finished. The restaurant/bar was not particularly busy on this evening so there was no reason for the poor service.

The staff were friendly, the draft/cider was good. We found it cold, the air con was blowing onto us so it was uncomfortable

Just arrived in Londonderry and we toured the guildhall and then we wanted lunch. The Tap-house was just next door! Went in and we were seated immediately and the wait staff were great, Enough on the menu to choose from and my wife had the feta salad and I had the haddock and chips. The salad was great and the Haddock was superb! Overall a good lunch.

4 adults and a child called in for lunch during the week, there was an initial standoff as 2 staff looked at us for a minute and it appeared they’d forgotten how to speak. First impressions are generally correct. We went to a table by ourselves and I watched a female member of staff take off her trainer, pull down her sock and remove a stone. She then came to our table having not washed her hands and asked to take our drinks order. Survival mode kicked in and we left.

Hah a lovely meal on curry night couldn't fault anything staters and main course were beautiful a little quiet but that didn't spoil the night

The food was excellent and the staff were so helpful and friendly especially chloe and Kate would definitely recommend eating here.

Great late lunch of seafood chowder and fish and chips. The service was terrific and food as well. The fish and chips were so large that we could have split one between the two of us. Nice beer selection also.

From start to finish an excellent experience. Bar is spacious modern and has a wide range of beers sports and light refreshments. I've searched Derry for a consistently good pint of Guinness and I found one here. Live music Sunday evening was excellent young lady was outstanding. Good value for money too Guinness and a bottle of Coors for under £10.

Booked the back room for a friends and family catch-up after a wedding the day before, great spot excellent staffing, great atmosphere and the music and singing was fantastic

Had a nice lunch here one Monday as most of the restaurants we tried were closed. We had lovely cocktails at 8.50 each then chowder and squid all very tasty. Service was quick and efficient. Nice outdoor seating if weather permits.

Nice enough bar. However, as soon as it gets a little busy the bar staffs lack of organisation means horribly long queues at the bar., getting ignored in favor of gobby people who push in to the bar over people who have been queueing patiently for a long time. I would recommend they only serve cocktails at the end of the bar and have dedicated staff working certain sections of the bar in order to serve in a reasonably organised way. Only visit if its not busy 👍

We had the pleasure of hiring the ‘back room’ for after our son’s naming ceremony in the Guildhall. Maria was so unbelievably helpful, she really helped me bring the day together. We had the chicken curry, garlic bread, chips and an hot finger… it was so delicious, the chefs are amazing, we were even able to take food home with us. The location of the room is just perfect. You wouldn’t have known the bar was busy because of where it is. Perfect for a private party. Highly recommend and thanks so much again Maria and all the staff.

Had a lovely visit to The Taphouse recently with family, and have to say it made for a relaxed evening, looked after by a very enthusiastic staff team and served some really tasty food and well developed cocktails. A fantastic variety of draught beers 🍻 also . An amazing atmosphere and comfortable surroundings definitely recommended 👌 in the Summer weather !

One of the worst meals in my life! We ordered chowder but what arrived was a potato and leek soup with frozen prawns, disguised as "seafood" chowder . Runny hummus that came with 3 pieces of bread, was j supposed to eat the rest like soup? Don't ever order the extremely dry vegetable chickpea burger. Roast was just ok, edible I would say. 40 pound thrown down the drain, not one person working there gave a flying feck either. I have to say one of my worst dining experiences in Derry I've ever had!

On our first night in Derry - a cold and rainy one - we were pleased to find seats available at the Taphouse. We had warm soup and delicious bread in a cozy setting and had the advantage of sitting at a window that overlooked the Guildhall. The servers were friendly, and it was a nice welcome to Derry.

Starter was a good 10/10 I got the chicken bites with a spicy mayo sauce. The main was a fancy chicken box, nice flavours only the chips weren’t all that tasty, tasted dry.

Booked lunch here yesterday (11th November) for 28 members of The Upper Bann U3A Group. Made the booking and placed the order for all 28 members via text on the way up on the train. Thanks to Maria, who took our order, everything turned out perfectly. We were greeted when we arrived, served right on time, everyone got the correct order and Maria and her staff were so friendly, pleasant and efficient. It was a great meal and experience. Will definitely call here again. Maria is a real asset to the Guildhall Taphouse, she really went above and beyond to make our dining experience first class. Thank You Maria, Paddy and the U3A members.

Enjoyed my Sunday lunch here. Great variety of clients, from families to couples to solo eaters. Only concern is that getting order taken took an age, but not massively inconvenient. I'd recommend giving this place a try when you can

So we randomly popped in for a pint last week. Lovely stuff brewed especially. Delicious. We left and walked the walls but by the time we got back they weren't serving food. From what we saw before it looked great tho! Id like to go back.

Obviously busy restaurant. From start the time frame for taking order to meal was lengthy, but the waitress had already advised me of that before seating, so not a problem. Ordered seafood chowder. It was tasty enough but more of a broth than chowder. But maybe that’s personal taste. The reason I’ve given 3 stars is that I asked for water twice & it never arrived. I was there for 1hr. This isn’t something exclusive to Taphouse. There’s a reluctance to serve water. Any restaurants with table service I’ve visited overseas, either offer water without one having to ask for it, or it’s delivered to the table straight up. Irish restaurants could take a leaf out of that book. Would Ingo to Taphouse again? Yes, I’d give them another chance.

Amazing atmosphere and food - expected a tourist trap but with hungry kids, decided it was worth the stop. Wow we’re we impressed! Excellent fish and chips, curry, fish tacos, and of course beer. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area.
