Grounded Bow in Tower Hamlets

I visited on Friday morning for breakfast before work. The service is mid, it took me some time to get my order taken but maybe just because there are more many people are at 8am. More stuff arrived later and things started moving quicker. The coffee was ok, usual more-than-3-pounds coffee which is a norm in London now. The cup and saucer were not that clean, sure they were not from dishwasher. I ordered shakshouka. It took 15 minutes to get the undercooked version with liquid egg whites and 7 minutes more to get the overcooked after that. The vegetables under the eggs, it's just 60-70% onions. And it supposed to be not an onion soup but a shakshouka! Nice they did not add the service charge to the bill, thanks for that!

It’s a great cafe. There’s no much around in the area and this is an amazing cafe, very good vibe and decoration. Staff is lovely. The selection of pastries is impressive, and they are gorgeous very positively surprised for this area. menu has also lots of options

Food was very mediocre especially for the price. Meat tasted fake. Eggs had no flavour. Toast wasn’t even toasted

Great coffee. It's one that actually tastes decent. But the reason this only got 3 stars is because of the price of the coffee and the size of the cup. The cup that I got for a medium was a small meaning I'm paying more for less coffee. And this isn't the first time it has occurred. When mentioning it to a colleague last time, she just tipped my coffee into a bigger cup and gave it back to me...

Food is the worst here they advertised on menu as beef sausage but it’s chicken really the management is poor and the owners are the worst save yourself some money and time go elsewhere this isn’t worth your money or the energy the cakes near the till are full of flies yet expect people to eat it I wouldn’t recommended it

Nice place with good brunch food, coffee, smoothies, and baked goods. I got eggs and avocado on toast. The eggs were perfect. The avocado was nice and generous. The bread wasn't the best, either it wasn't super fresh or the bread itself is just dry. Anyway i would come here again.

Always a lovely place to visit. Food was delicious and on point. I had the beef sausage breakfast which hit the spot. English breakfast tea was not the best but it was a loose leaf tea and perhaps I had to give it more time to brew. My colleagues enjoyed their food as well. Service was prompt and efficient.

Went in with family to have some brunch; the decoration was nice and Sara took care of us. We bought the beef sausage breakfast, and unfortunately it was mediocre — the sausage didn’t even taste of beef. We ordered hot drinks, would recommend the chai — especially if it’s made by Asiya. We also had a nibble at the gluten free cannoli and a brownie; the cannoli tasted weird and sticks to your teeth and the brownie was hard. Overall I don’t think we’ll be coming back here again, especially for the prices we paid.

My experience at Grounded Cafe was amazing, I really enjoyed it. The food and drink was delicious and it was a very aesthetoc and calm atmosphere, even though it was busy. Customer service was excellent as well! Our waiter Zara was absolutely lovely, checking up on us and making sure we were having a good time. Very friendly and definitely made my lunch experience ten times better. The cafe is very Muslim friendly, would strongly recommend to anyone looking for a nice brunch spot it has a varied menu (for both savoury and sweet toothed people) and a beautiful setup.

Had brunch here with my mum! The atmosphere and service were great. We had eggs and bacon with guac and chilli which was seasoned nicely. We also got sweet treats to take home. The red velvet brownie is divine!

Nice decor, but the food wasn’t so great. Ordered Beef Sausage Breakfast, Fruit Bowl and Porridge. Bread was stale, sausages tasted grainy and just off. Porridge was just bland and not smooth at all. Fruit Bowl was Okay! We also ordered tea and hot chocolate but it arrived after we were done eating, waitress said the machine wasn’t working - sorry but a MEH 🫤 from me ✌🏽

For starters- love the ambience!! From the outside and even lovelier interior design! Lovely staff and service - Serine (i hope spelt correct!) was a sweetheart! Her product knowledge was excellent! And the food - i got the signature burger with truffle mayo chips - very good portion and yummy till the last bit! And i got a fresh juice which was gone 3 seconds after it was served! Quality food and all fresh! Shame no picture to share as i dove right in! My first visit and am already looking forward to the next time!

Visited before a game at the London Stadium, so handy for the Bow DLR station to take you the last bit to the ground. Very nice chicken burgers, good ingredients, well cooked and presented. Nice service. There is no alcohol licence if that is important to you.

Love the food here! Sweet or savory - they've got you covered for brunch. But gets extremely busy and a little expensive.

Pancakes were some of the worse I have ever had. It tasted like cake batter fried in sunflower oil. Also most of the staff seemed like they would rather be anywhere else. It’s such a shame as the place is lovely and the Grounded in Aldgate East is sooo nice and the pancakes are incredible but this branch just ain’t it.

We’ve been eating here for breakfast over the past week and have pretty much tried the entire brunch menu. The atmosphere was excellent, the staff were attentive and lovely to talk to, and the service was fantastic. The food was outstanding, beautifully prepared, and the portions were very generous. We’ll definitely be coming back on our next trip to London – probably the best dining experience we’ve had in the city. Highly recommend!

I came here with my friends. The service is really good! Zara was very kind and friendly. She made the experience 10 x better. I can't wait to come back again. This place is my regular for occasions with family/friends, especially since the atmosphere is really pretty. I ordered the breakfast and pancakes. I couldn't finish the pancakes because I was so full!

Visited Grounded in Bow for the first time. The baked potato was delicious, but I was disappointed with the chicken wings. I ordered buffalo sauce but received BBQ instead, and there was far too much sauce for the number of wings. Initially, I would have rated my experience 4 stars despite this. However, I saw a rat walking from the main entrance to the toilets, which was incredibly off-putting. That instantly dropped my rating to 1 star. On top of that, the prices are on the expensive side. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll be coming back.

Very mediocre breakfast. We ordered the beef sausage breakfast. Everything looked like it was slapped on a pan for minimal time and served up with garnish. Sausages didn’t even look or taste like sausages, completely pale, nothing like Aldgate location. Gave feedback to owner/head waiter, he couldn’t accept criticism and blamed it on us not visiting before?? Wouldn’t recommend. Positive is ambience and waiter service.

Ordered the full English, food was nice fresh and tasty. Food came out very quick. Atmosphere was really nice the place had a super cool aesthetic to it. However the service was on the slow side, had to ask twice. It was also very hard to identify staff as they don’t have badges.

This morning my wife and I went to get a coffee. We were happy to find the cafe open on a christmas morning. We came for take away, and were massively disappointed by the service. The person who took our order, took our order wrong, then forgot to give us our bakery. Barely spoke a word, just assumed we’d read her mind. What was the cherry on top, was that she charged us service charge? For take away? What service did we receive exactly, for a take away? Is this normal, to charge service charge on take away? Surely not. Daylight robbery. On the other hand their food and drinks is usually great.

So called aged steak it’s was disgusting.most funny or shocking you have to eat it dry no sauce Comes with that .how you gonna eat that ?I was asking the gentlemen he was polite.Girl looks like manager also nice but I was expecting to do more than sorry about the steak as I’m paying £24.50 for that rubbish steak and I couldn’t eat 1/3 of it. They were little bit busy today.service was amazing and the atmosphere.But not recommended to go there if you are expecting something more than just a breakfast.never gonna go there only for that bad experience.

Lovely decorated place, good coffee and very good cakes

The area needs and has needed a place like this for an awful long time, although a bit on the pricy side. However i wasn't impressed with my options...Americano (too thin for my liking) poached eggs with salmon (not the best I've had) although the portions were generous all round and the salmon was nice, one egg hard boiled, one soft(I could go on) The beef sausage brekie and poached eggs(again one soft, etc) were enjoyed. Very nice staff and a relaxing atmosphere. It does get busy, and you can not book a table. £65 three plates and coffes

Really good customer service. The staff are so cheerful and lovely. I went with my 2 year old toddler for breakfast. My daughter made a huge mess when eating her pancakes. One of the male staff members leant a kind hand in cleaning up my daughter’s mess. They really make you feel welcome. The food is a 10/10, and the coffee is outstanding. I will be making more regular visits now.

We went to Grounded restaurant in Bow Road on 10th December 2024 as it was our wedding anniversary. We went there in the evening around 6pm and it wasn’t that busy. We were greeted by a European lady, who was probably the supervisor or manager. We were shown to a table for two we weren’t comfortable with and after a few minutes a larger table near the window was available after a couple who had been sitting there left. We asked a staff member if we could sit at the larger table instead, she said that she would clean the table for us beforehand. The supervisor/manager then came up to us and said that we couldn’t sit there as the larger tables were booked for larger groups. We were under the impression that tables could be pre-booked beforehand so we asked her if that was the case. She said no, but we keep the larger tables empty because we expect families with children to come in the evenings. We felt that the response she gave us was a bit rude. For the whole time we were there the larger tables were completely empty and nobody sat there. And, how many families with children are going to come in a weekday??? Why a couple was allowed to sit there and not us, I don’t understand. Surely she could have let us sit at the larger table if the restaurant was quiet. We only spent just over an hour there. In any case it did spoil the atmosphere for us and we almost left. The only reason why we stayed is because of the good experience we had previously. I think the supervisor/manager needs more training, specifically diversity.

out and about , and needed a coffee and food , when we saw this place , staff showed us a table by the window , order coffee and buttermilk pancakes , and what a coincidence that we order pancakes , as I was only watching a video about Mauritius and the Vanilla plant , and here we was having the pancake with Mauritus' Vanilla essence how so unreal , but it was very nice , staff was great , place was good and clean will be back next time we are around here :)

Welcoming, tasty and good value

After ABBA Voyage concert last night (Nov.24, 2024) at ABBA Arena, four of us went to Grounded London for dinner. The server (can't remember her name but recently traveled to New York City, etc) was super friendly from the second we arrived. The hamburgers were excellent!!!! So good. The vibe is cool. We talked amongst ourselves that such an atmosphere is what may establishments try to create but haven't. This one has. Thanks to server, chefs and the designer. Fantastic way to end a fantastic evening.

Lovely spot for brunch with a healthy and varied menu. Great atmosphere with industrial feel and exposed brick. Always busy but worth the wait. Good any time of day in my experience.

One of the best places I've had brunch, excellent own bakery, organic eggs, refill tea pot and the service was on point. Five stars to Sara who served us. I very rarely give 5 stars but this establishment deserved it. 👏

We were in the area for the Abba concert and tried Grounded London for breakfast. The full english was really great, the bread and the pastries were also delicious. Service was very friendly and the owner come to our table to make sure all was ok.

I am a regular at Grounded Aldgate East. Unfortunately, upon arrival, the waiter didn't give us me and my partner choice of seat while she was giving it to other couples or group of 2. I can understand that some seats need to be reserved for bigger groups but I would recommend to keep consistency otherwise it affects customer experience and create a feeling of unfariness that is very hard to sit with when you just want to have a nice time.

I’ve been going to Grounded in Aldgate East for the last six years and never had any issues. Today, for the first time, I went to the Bow Church branch and felt disgusted after seeing flies all over the croissants and brownies at the front counter. I asked the staff about it, and they said they’d informed the owner and tried various solutions, but nothing helped—likely due to structural issues in the restaurant. Another staff member probably from india or bangladesh asked where I’m from and remarked that in my home country, we eat food with flies around. I was angry and left the restaurant, and I’m never going back there!

I am extremely disappointed with the service we received. Upon arrival, everyone else was asked how many people were with them, while we were completely overlooked. To add to our dissatisfaction, the ribs were incredibly dry. Additionally, we were wrongly charged for our food, despite being assured that this would not happen. Although Hayden promised to rectify the situation, she ultimately did not follow through. While our waiter, Mush, provided excellent service, the overall experience fell far below acceptable standards.

I prob would he Given higher scores but a few things bothered me 1) they really news to sort out their chairs and tables - the free standing tables are wobbly and the chairs are either broken or wobbly and about to break! The first chair I had the seat was loose from the leg and as I went to move my chair forward after I sat down it caught my finger and sliced me - I had to ask for a plaster (yes it was bleeding ) however I didn’t feel they were too concerned or empathetic or even offered me anything The photo is after I got home and the bleeding had stopped 2) the second chair they got me was wobbly - serious note they need to look at the health and safety aspects here I genuinely thought it would break and I am only petite 3) the food was Luke warm not hot - I did mention it but by then i was really hungry and just wanted to eat

Absolutely the best pancakes I've ever had! The staff were incredibly attentive, especially since my daughter is quite particular about her food. They went out of their way to accommodate her preferences. The coffee was fantastic too! I will definitely be returning.

What a lovely, charming cafe! The decor is cozy and inviting, with a warm atmosphere that instantly made us feel at home. We haven't had anything like it for a while in Bow, so this is a nice change since it used to be an old Barclay's bank. Ula was simply fantastic; they were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure that our visit was memorable. They always had a smile on their face and made us feel like we were at home. Can’t tell you how much we appreciated Ula’s warm and friendly attitude, especially for such an early monday morning. The food was also delicious, with a good variety of vegetarian options to choose from. The pastries were particularly delicious, and we couldn’t help but order a few more to take home with us. Overall, a lovely little brunch Cafe, which suits me and my wife quite well, since we work from home. Definitely will be back.

another sad chain, miserable and rubbish

Arrived on Sunday afternoon, joined the small queue only to be completely ignored when it was our turn to be seated as the manager passed straight by us and seated the woman behind us who’d just arrived with a pushchair? We were further ignored until we enquired why, only to be told ‘she has a baby’? This seemed odd so I asked again why we were ignored and priority was given to the person behind us to which we were then again told ‘she has a baby and she’s waiting for two people(?) Still not really an explanation when our full party of two was here, had been waiting before the ‘priority’ customer and we were ready to order and eat? At no point was an apology given only ‘she has a baby’ and ‘you’ll only have to wait a bit longer’, why we were having to wait at all is still a mystery. So eventually we get seated and order and some 45 minutes later our food arrives. Lady with a baby has only just been joined by one other person, they order and are served a mere 5 minutes after us?!? But oh dear I have a slice and a half of my French Toast so wait patiently to get someone’s attention and ask where the rest of it is, the manager is too busy getting broody and fawning over anyone with a child, I consider borrowing one just to be acknowledged. Eventually a waitress comes over and I ask where the rest of it is and I’m asked if I’m sure I haven’t eaten any? When we establish I haven’t she says she’ll get me another but I don’t have another 45 mins to wait so it’s taken away, then brought back and I’m told if I want to eat it they’ll take it off the bill…by this time it is cold. My partner is eating his then finds a hair under his sausage..and no that’s not a euphemism. So we once again try to get a waiters attention, we eventually do, advise him of such and he says he’ll take it away, and he does…..then nothing, no apology, no we’ll get you another one, just left with the plate. So we wait…then after a period of time manage to get yet another waiter and ask what is happening, they don’t know….. …and this saga goes on, and on, the manager has vanished probably exhausted from trying to manage her self styled crèche on top of a restaurant, meanwhile the staff have no guidance from her, yet follow her lead of no apologies and no real explanation for any of this hot mess! It’s a random location in Bow, just save yourself the drama and go somewhere else… unless you have a kid, then they’ll meet your every need I guess?

A friend and I came to Grounded on Friday morning for a coffee; we also each had a pot of loose leaf tea. The service was mediocre - we only got our tea after a long wait, and after reminding the service staff. The bill for 4 beverages was over £19, which is excessive. It appears that a 20% service charge was added without any notice or option, even though it was undeserved. I thought this was illegal? We will not come here again.

Excellent service excellent atmosphere excellent food good choice of music you cannot go wrong all at a fair price. Everyone is friendly, I got served by Patrick who was friendly and attentive. Definitely worth the visit, 10/10 The burgers are great the mac and cheese is also fantastic and the steak is one of the best I have had in London! I have visited many times in a short time period as it's that good, since discovering it!!
