Visited Grounded in Bow for the first time. The baked potato was delicious, but I was disappointed with the chicken wings. I ordered buffalo sauce but received BBQ instead, and there was far too much sauce for the number of wings. Initially, I would have rated my experience 4 stars despite this. However, I saw a rat walking from the main entrance to the toilets, which was incredibly off-putting. That instantly dropped my rating to 1 star. On top of that, the prices are on the expensive side. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll be coming back.

Very mediocre breakfast. We ordered the beef sausage breakfast. Everything looked like it was slapped on a pan for minimal time and served up with garnish. Sausages didn’t even look or taste like sausages, completely pale, nothing like Aldgate location. Gave feedback to owner/head waiter, he couldn’t accept criticism and blamed it on us not visiting before?? Wouldn’t recommend. Positive is ambience and waiter service.

Ordered the full English, food was nice fresh and tasty. Food came out very quick. Atmosphere was really nice the place had a super cool aesthetic to it. However the service was on the slow side, had to ask twice. It was also very hard to identify staff as they don’t have badges.

We had a great time today. Food was delicious. The staff were very helpful and accommodating, in particular a gentleman named Ismail. Highly recommend.

This morning my wife and I went to get a coffee. We were happy to find the cafe open on a christmas morning. We came for take away, and were massively disappointed by the service. The person who took our order, took our order wrong, then forgot to give us our bakery. Barely spoke a word, just assumed we’d read her mind. What was the cherry on top, was that she charged us service charge? For take away? What service did we receive exactly, for a take away? Is this normal, to charge service charge on take away? Surely not. Daylight robbery. On the other hand their food and drinks is usually great.

So called aged steak it’s was disgusting.most funny or shocking you have to eat it dry no sauce Comes with that .how you gonna eat that ?I was asking the gentlemen he was polite.Girl looks like manager also nice but I was expecting to do more than sorry about the steak as I’m paying £24.50 for that rubbish steak and I couldn’t eat 1/3 of it. They were little bit busy today.service was amazing and the atmosphere.But not recommended to go there if you are expecting something more than just a breakfast.never gonna go there only for that bad experience.

Lovely decorated place, good coffee and very good cakes

The area needs and has needed a place like this for an awful long time, although a bit on the pricy side. However i wasn't impressed with my options...Americano (too thin for my liking) poached eggs with salmon (not the best I've had) although the portions were generous all round and the salmon was nice, one egg hard boiled, one soft(I could go on) The beef sausage brekie and poached eggs(again one soft, etc) were enjoyed. Very nice staff and a relaxing atmosphere. It does get busy, and you can not book a table. £65 three plates and coffes

We went to Grounded restaurant in Bow Road on 10th December 2024 as it was our wedding anniversary. We went there in the evening around 6pm and it wasn’t that busy. We were greeted by a European lady, who was probably the supervisor or manager. We were shown to a table for two we weren’t comfortable with and after a few minutes a larger table near the window was available after a couple who had been sitting there left. We asked a staff member if we could sit at the larger table instead, she said that she would clean the table for us beforehand. The supervisor/manager then came up to us and said that we couldn’t sit there as the larger tables were booked for larger groups. We were under the impression that tables could be pre-booked beforehand so we asked her if that was the case. She said no, but we keep the larger tables empty because we expect families with children to come in the evenings. We felt that the response she gave us was a bit rude. For the whole time we were there the larger tables were completely empty and nobody sat there. And, how many families with children are going to come in a weekday??? Why a couple was allowed to sit there and not us, I don’t understand. Surely she could have let us sit at the larger table if the restaurant was quiet. We only spent just over an hour there. In any case it did spoil the atmosphere for us and we almost left. The only reason why we stayed is because of the good experience we had previously. I think the supervisor/manager needs more training, specifically diversity.

Really good customer service. The staff are so cheerful and lovely. I went with my 2 year old toddler for breakfast. My daughter made a huge mess when eating her pancakes. One of the male staff members leant a kind hand in cleaning up my daughter’s mess. They really make you feel welcome. The food is a 10/10, and the coffee is outstanding. I will be making more regular visits now.

out and about , and needed a coffee and food , when we saw this place , staff showed us a table by the window , order coffee and buttermilk pancakes , and what a coincidence that we order pancakes , as I was only watching a video about Mauritius and the Vanilla plant , and here we was having the pancake with Mauritus' Vanilla essence how so unreal , but it was very nice , staff was great , place was good and clean will be back next time we are around here :)

After ABBA Voyage concert last night (Nov.24, 2024) at ABBA Arena, four of us went to Grounded London for dinner. The server (can't remember her name but recently traveled to New York City, etc) was super friendly from the second we arrived. The hamburgers were excellent!!!! So good. The vibe is cool. We talked amongst ourselves that such an atmosphere is what may establishments try to create but haven't. This one has. Thanks to server, chefs and the designer. Fantastic way to end a fantastic evening.

Lovely spot for brunch with a healthy and varied menu. Great atmosphere with industrial feel and exposed brick. Always busy but worth the wait. Good any time of day in my experience.

One of the best places I've had brunch, excellent own bakery, organic eggs, refill tea pot and the service was on point. Five stars to Sara who served us. I very rarely give 5 stars but this establishment deserved it. 👏

We were in the area for the Abba concert and tried Grounded London for breakfast. The full english was really great, the bread and the pastries were also delicious. Service was very friendly and the owner come to our table to make sure all was ok.

I am a regular at Grounded Aldgate East. Unfortunately, upon arrival, the waiter didn't give us me and my partner choice of seat while she was giving it to other couples or group of 2. I can understand that some seats need to be reserved for bigger groups but I would recommend to keep consistency otherwise it affects customer experience and create a feeling of unfariness that is very hard to sit with when you just want to have a nice time.

I’ve been going to Grounded in Aldgate East for the last six years and never had any issues. Today, for the first time, I went to the Bow Church branch and felt disgusted after seeing flies all over the croissants and brownies at the front counter. I asked the staff about it, and they said they’d informed the owner and tried various solutions, but nothing helped—likely due to structural issues in the restaurant. Another staff member probably from india or bangladesh asked where I’m from and remarked that in my home country, we eat food with flies around. I was angry and left the restaurant, and I’m never going back there!

I am extremely disappointed with the service we received. Upon arrival, everyone else was asked how many people were with them, while we were completely overlooked. To add to our dissatisfaction, the ribs were incredibly dry. Additionally, we were wrongly charged for our food, despite being assured that this would not happen. Although Hayden promised to rectify the situation, she ultimately did not follow through. While our waiter, Mush, provided excellent service, the overall experience fell far below acceptable standards.

I prob would he Given higher scores but a few things bothered me 1) they really news to sort out their chairs and tables - the free standing tables are wobbly and the chairs are either broken or wobbly and about to break! The first chair I had the seat was loose from the leg and as I went to move my chair forward after I sat down it caught my finger and sliced me - I had to ask for a plaster (yes it was bleeding ) however I didn’t feel they were too concerned or empathetic or even offered me anything The photo is after I got home and the bleeding had stopped 2) the second chair they got me was wobbly - serious note they need to look at the health and safety aspects here I genuinely thought it would break and I am only petite 3) the food was Luke warm not hot - I did mention it but by then i was really hungry and just wanted to eat

Absolutely the best pancakes I've ever had! The staff were incredibly attentive, especially since my daughter is quite particular about her food. They went out of their way to accommodate her preferences. The coffee was fantastic too! I will definitely be returning.

What a lovely, charming cafe! The decor is cozy and inviting, with a warm atmosphere that instantly made us feel at home. We haven't had anything like it for a while in Bow, so this is a nice change since it used to be an old Barclay's bank. Ula was simply fantastic; they were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure that our visit was memorable. They always had a smile on their face and made us feel like we were at home. Can’t tell you how much we appreciated Ula’s warm and friendly attitude, especially for such an early monday morning. The food was also delicious, with a good variety of vegetarian options to choose from. The pastries were particularly delicious, and we couldn’t help but order a few more to take home with us. Overall, a lovely little brunch Cafe, which suits me and my wife quite well, since we work from home. Definitely will be back.

another sad chain, miserable and rubbish

A friend and I came to Grounded on Friday morning for a coffee; we also each had a pot of loose leaf tea. The service was mediocre - we only got our tea after a long wait, and after reminding the service staff. The bill for 4 beverages was over £19, which is excessive. It appears that a 20% service charge was added without any notice or option, even though it was undeserved. I thought this was illegal? We will not come here again.

Arrived on Sunday afternoon, joined the small queue only to be completely ignored when it was our turn to be seated as the manager passed straight by us and seated the woman behind us who’d just arrived with a pushchair? We were further ignored until we enquired why, only to be told ‘she has a baby’? This seemed odd so I asked again why we were ignored and priority was given to the person behind us to which we were then again told ‘she has a baby and she’s waiting for two people(?) Still not really an explanation when our full party of two was here, had been waiting before the ‘priority’ customer and we were ready to order and eat? At no point was an apology given only ‘she has a baby’ and ‘you’ll only have to wait a bit longer’, why we were having to wait at all is still a mystery. So eventually we get seated and order and some 45 minutes later our food arrives. Lady with a baby has only just been joined by one other person, they order and are served a mere 5 minutes after us?!? But oh dear I have a slice and a half of my French Toast so wait patiently to get someone’s attention and ask where the rest of it is, the manager is too busy getting broody and fawning over anyone with a child, I consider borrowing one just to be acknowledged. Eventually a waitress comes over and I ask where the rest of it is and I’m asked if I’m sure I haven’t eaten any? When we establish I haven’t she says she’ll get me another but I don’t have another 45 mins to wait so it’s taken away, then brought back and I’m told if I want to eat it they’ll take it off the bill…by this time it is cold. My partner is eating his then finds a hair under his sausage..and no that’s not a euphemism. So we once again try to get a waiters attention, we eventually do, advise him of such and he says he’ll take it away, and he does…..then nothing, no apology, no we’ll get you another one, just left with the plate. So we wait…then after a period of time manage to get yet another waiter and ask what is happening, they don’t know….. …and this saga goes on, and on, the manager has vanished probably exhausted from trying to manage her self styled crèche on top of a restaurant, meanwhile the staff have no guidance from her, yet follow her lead of no apologies and no real explanation for any of this hot mess! It’s a random location in Bow, just save yourself the drama and go somewhere else… unless you have a kid, then they’ll meet your every need I guess?

The best affordable steak place, all the food tastes great. Service is great & staff are polite. Interior is nice and cosy. A great place to dine with family or friends

Really lovely 😍 I took my little dog, and they ask me if I wanted a bowl of water for her. Which was so sweet. The food was amazing. Lovely atmosphere. Service was fantastic. The toilet was beautiful and spotless. I cannot wait to go again. Thank you so much Grounded x

Excellent service excellent atmosphere excellent food good choice of music you cannot go wrong all at a fair price. Everyone is friendly, I got served by Patrick who was friendly and attentive. Definitely worth the visit, 10/10 The burgers are great the mac and cheese is also fantastic and the steak is one of the best I have had in London! I have visited many times in a short time period as it's that good, since discovering it!!

The service is so slow despite not being very busy. Spent over £50 on the most mediocre meal, it was so underwhelming and disappointing and it’s only brunch.

Good coffee, we were looking for a traditional English breakfast, we got it. Big portions we shared two dishes among 4 adults.

I have dropped by this place for a few months now. They are located near my dog’s hydrotherapy. Of course, they are dog-friendly as far as my reviews go. Food is amazing but there will be a queue on weekends. It’s a tiny gem in Bow Chruch area but worth a visit. They have outdoor and indoor seating, excellent brunch options with smoothies and coffee.

The food and coffee were painstakingly bad. The avocado was really dark, and the salmon I ordered was hours away from being bad. Waiters are polite and the place is pretty but the food really lacks quality and flavor.

I’ve been to the grounded in Aldgate a few times and I’ve always loved my food and experience, I came to the Bow one a few days ago and it was so disappointing. My fiends and I were waiting in the queue for 50 minutes before we were seated. I was not too fussed about that as we came in a group of 5, so it was totally understandable. However the food was so mid, it was honestly disappointing. My friends ordered an assortment of breakfast items and we all tried each others plate, I don’t think this place should be as busy as it is, the food is so average. The staff were lovely. One thing I will say, the matcha was delicious! I thoroughly enjoyed that.

Food was good, quite loud in there with the open kitchen.

Place is nice and food is good, but just standard brunch plates (English breakfast and variations) and hamburgers. They are a laptop-free coffee place and they will let you know that. I do understand the need to make money out of your business (even if not a fun of the "consume and go" vibe), but this is a large place and was half empty when I went. They could find some compromise and allow laptop outside of peak hours ( I was there Sunday at 4pm and again, half empty). Alternatively, be a laptop free coffee place but keep lower prices, rather than the same prices of normal coffee shops. 15 pounds for 2 eggs on bread with little bit of vegetables is quite expensive, if you dont want people to stay after eating, it becomes very expensive.

If you have any dietary restrictions, this place is not for you. Grounded whitechapel was my favorite spot for years and I was so happy that they opened one in Bow! I go there every weekend and I don’t mind the long queue at all. Lately the service became bad. If you have any allergies or intolerances just forget this place. The chef now often messes up orders and when I complained the waitress simply took away the beans FROM MY PLATE while leaving traces of it without even thinking about returning the order to the kitchen!!! I couldn’t eat at all and didn’t touch my plate and we still had to pay for it!! Regardless to say that after complaining, the manager didn’t even come to apologize!! Really horrible experience, not stepping a foot there again.

Great place for breakfast or brunh. Great coffee, tasty food and a relaxed atmosphere. Good to see somewhere open up near Bow Rd and the DLR. I had the French toast with berries which was delicious and a latte.

We only had tea and cakes while there. Their canelle dessert was delicious. Small baked good. And the lemon and blueberry cake also very delicious. The French toast was good, overly sweet for my liking and personally I needed more cream or ice cream to help balance the sweetness, but if you enjoy sweetness then this Is perfect. Coffee and tea were great too. The deco is lovely, very sophisticated elegant look to the place, loved the ceiling and all the chandeliers hanging. Added to the atmosphere. Lots of seating in this branch too.

When we first arrived we had 2/5 people and the staff member was almost reluctant to sit us down (I’m sure we put at a table for 4). The atmosphere was nice. When the food came 2 of the meals had a hair in them, we told the same staff member who said that’s bad and got new meals. But there was no apology from her and we think she could have been the manager. The other waiter was really nice and friendly. Other than that the food was very nice. It was a nice place but I wouldn’t go again.

I had takaway English breakfast igveas amazing. The whole family especially kids really enjoyed. It little bit pricey but it was worth it. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. The minute you walk in someone will notice you and welcomes you. The coffee is fantastic and cheaper than other coffee shops ((latte, cappuccino and flat white only £3 at this shop) and it my favourite coffee even if go other areas. What I lije like about Grounded is if have a loyalty card and gravity stamped each time the 5th hit drink is free. The same is for the cakes. Other shops give you the 10th cup free and this a big difference. Would recommend it

The Grounded burger was good, a bit on the small size though. The French toast was incredible. A very thick cut of an airy white loaf, topped with different berries, peanut flares and icing sugar. Not as heavy as expected, perfect to share between 2 after a light savoury brunch.

We had a delicious breakfast here - Magda served us, and she was excellent and really warm towards everyone at our table.

I had really high hopes for the brunch, I went yesterday morning and found the whole experience quite stressful. It was a chaotic wait for a table and felt like we were being rushed the whole time we were sat there (we stayed for 2 hours as a friend was running late). The eggs royale was small, one piece of small cold bread that didn't taste fresh or toasted, with a measly amount of smoked salmon and a cold poached egg and a cold grainy thick hollandaise sauce. Half of the plate was full of salad which seemed to be there to fill the plate rather than offer anything of substance as it wasn't complimentary to the meal. I then ordered french toast which was a lot better but not amazing. Also the room temperature was really cold, I had to keep my jacket on the whole time. There is only one toilet so there's a long wait for that, it was also really dirty in there. It's a shame as I'm a local and if I had a good experience I would have come back but I don't think I will.

Came for breakfast today, the food was delicious, well cooked and well presented. The service is what stood out for me, for a Saturday (considering how busy they were) we received exceptional service. We were served by the lovely Sara who was very attentive to our table, she also had our French toast delivered to our table at the end of our savoury breakfast meal. She went above and beyond and made it a great breakfast experience.

A decent venue, an ex Barclays Bank in Bow. It brings good lively atmosphere to the area. Food is decent, fairly pricy but gets really busy and there’s a constant stream of people coming and going. Nice coffees too.

Amazing! I have been a regular at the whitechapel branch for about 3 years now, this branch is closer to me. Lovely atmosphere, kind staff especially our server Zara who was super friendly! Will definitely be coming back more often to this branch.
