My favourite spot for good coffee in kemptown :)

Very good coffee & pastries. Staff is kind, but I am giving only 4 stars as the service is very slow. Also, one of the cakes I bought was very dry. Maybe it was on display for a while that day. Still I recommend this place but if you have plenty of time.

I am a big fan of Ground in Kemptown, I have been a customer for many many years, following them to their new locations. If you haven’t been to the new and improved site, you are missing out. Best coffee, tasty GF options and fabulous friendly staff. A must if you are a visitors or a local. Big love ❤️

Was a bit scary going in and realising that there is no price list for the coffee. I am a student so always trying to save money 😅 but they have very good coffee and use Oatly Barista Edition which is always a plus. The owner is super friendly and clearly has a passion for coffee. An oat flat white cost me £3.2, perfectly normal pricing 👌

Been wanting to go here for a while. The food was amazing and the owners are just so lovely! We had a delicious lunch which our 3yo also enjoyed and loved it so much we went back for a snack later and got take away congee- so good! Will be back again and again

If you've enjoyed Vietnamese coffee in Vietnam I don't think you'll enjoy it here. Over priced and very poor.

Brilliant food. Something a little different with a wide variety and very high quality ingredients. Perfectly cooked salmon curry, delicious. Lovely people and good for a group.

Always lovely and welcoming at Ground, plus super dog friendly 💜 prices for coffee, food and retail coffee are really reasonable compared to some other speciality coffee shops in the area. Not a lot of seating so it can get busy and full quickly!

Really delicious pain au raisin made with butter. Their GF bakes were also great with their well brewed cup of joe. Highly recommend when in the area!

Exceptionally poor service with barista completely ignoring the queue to have lengthy conversation about someone’s dog.

Discovered this gem of a place and had the best meal dining in. Food was superb, atmosphere and ambience laid back and lovely. The service was perfect and we were made to feel so welcome with lots of help selecting our delicious meal. We will 100% be back next time we visit Brighton.

Very good light roasted (Pharmacie coffee roaster) coffee. San remo machine. Accesories and coffeebean also available. Cosy little space (3 small tables for 7-8 people max).

Went there for lunch early this month. Wonderful food and excellent service. My vegetarian meal was simply perfect in every way. Best informal meal I have ever had ! The cafe has a vibrant and inviting vibe too.

Absolutely amazing spot. Huge array of asian foods with great vegan and veggie options too. It's a family run business with amazing service and a great atmosphere. If you like coffee give the vietnamese coffee a go it will blow your socks off. Hands down my favourite spot in kemptown, if you havent been yet then get yourself down there ASAP, you will not be disappointed. Xox

Now called Namisa. Homemade Asian influenced food. Good taste and fresh new dishes everyday. Good prices and generous portions. Interesting hot and cold drinks from Asia. Very different to your normal coffee cafe. Vegan and vegetarian foods too.

The asian food is not bad. The coffee and atmosphere of the place is great. They only accept card payments too!

Friendly staff and AMAZING coffee and food!

Great coffee, friendly atmosphere and staff, they also do a mean savoury muffin which I am yet to find in any other coffee house! A real treat, well worth a try. This place is accessible and dog friendly.

Terrible service. I ordered a coffee and a bagel. The bagel took 10 mins to arrive and was totally stale. I told the man who had served me and he just said, oh I just toasted it. When I replied that it was in edible, he said nothing and left. No appology or offer to replace it.

Your coffee is amazing. But your staff are so miserable and uninviting. They don't even acknowledge you when waiting to be served. I will continue to come here because the coffee is fantastic. Shame about the quality of the customer service.

Perhaps the cost of appearing edgy and eclectic, this location has sacrificed basic hygiene standards. Perhaps it had been a very busy day but none of the tables had been wiped down and the tea cups/pots were dirty. The ‘Jack Brown’ I believe it was called although reasonably priced, lacked flavour and tasted liked something a child had made at school.

Place with a very nice and cozy atmosphere. The guys are kind and the quality/cost ratio is good. The coffee is quite good (and I am Italian!). It is also a good place for remote work as there is a very good internet connection. However there are no plugs. I will for sure come back!

Nice coffee as from Pharmacy coffees which we love. However, shocked to have been charged 3.80(!) for an old croissant with 1 slice of cheese and 1 slice of tomatoe. Brighton is turning into a place that is taking the piss. Next time I'll check the price first as I do not want to be part of supporting this such business. There has been an increase of hipster cafés that pretend to be special and not a chain and that deserve to earn with their little business. But seriously - this is the reason why people turn to cheaper chains. It's your own fault if you're losing out. I'm not paying 3.80 for a croissant again, that you bought for 45p at Aldis .

This is quickly becoming my favourite place for coffees and a tasty vegan sandwich in Kemp town. The staff are super friendly and are very accommodating always helping me avoid my allergies. The vegan sandwiches are super tasty (and inventive - never just boring carrot and hummus!) and the coffees are out of this world. I would not hesitate in recommending this coffee shop. I don’t know what’s happened to this place. I’d been a few times before and thought it was incredible. The branch in Lewes is a must-visit place for me too, but I was really disappointed with my most recent visit to this one. The customer service was pretty poor. They got my drink wrong, and when the barista brought over the correct one, he loudly banged it down onto the table without saying anything. It was also not very nice. The food was mediocre and I don’t think they know what vegan means. My food tasted like it had butter in it, and they also gave me extra butter for the bread. I’ll still go to the Lewes branch, but I’ll not bother trekking all the way up to this one again.

Light and airy. Great coffee, fresh juices, and loose tea. Tasty food. Easy access.

Friendly atmosphere, excellent coffee. Despite the chef being off sick the staff provided a delicious array of pastries and the best sandwiches I've ever tasted. Highly recommended.

Grinder not working properly (somewhat ironically given the name). 15 minute wait for an Espresso, which was sour and disgusting as the beans were burnt by the grinder. Horrible overpriced coffee and slow service. Shame because a nice cafe is completely let down by bad management. The owners rude response says it all really. Unwilling to listen / improve it seems - the acrid coffee flavour has been an unresolved problem for months..

I am keen in speciality coffee wherever I go to around the globe. I don’t recommend this place for coffee. The taste is BAD and I couldn’t drink it. My wife also had a bad flat white coffee! Mine had a taste of uncleaned old Aeropress coffee kit which seems made me able to smell it in my black coffee even before I tasted it. I asked if they are a speciality coffee place? They answered: “Indeed”! They only have a one type of filter coffee which is the aeropress method. The staff are NICE and they might serve other good products that I haven’t had.

The best local coffee shop on Kemptown. If you are a long black or green tea person its for you(no worries they do all the fancy soyacinno on skimmed milk decaf). You can bring your dog over , order a vegan cupcake and enjoy your book, or chat to one of the locals or friendly staff. Go and enjoy every single sip.

Disappointing. The chewy sourdough bread described on the board didn't form part of what turned up at my table (sliced supermarket stuff) and they said they'd run out of one ingredient but served some to the next customers.

Dirty cups, filthy sugar bowl (which was not given with drink). The table was dirty and i had to ask for it to be cleaned. The staff automatically toasted the sandwich without asking and it turned out burnt... the coffee was really bad. The tea ok. One member of staff was friendly and polite, the other much less so.

Very nice local with great food and coffee. They do an smoothie bowl that is delicious and a great alternative and healthy if you don’t fancy any bread or sweet stuff. Kind staff as well. They open quite early, weekends too. Good for a breakfast after night shift.

Lovely independent cafe, personally I particularly liked the coffee blend. Was impressed that is offered a long black and an Americano, which shows they understand the difference, some places don't. The person I was with said they liked their Cappuccino. I liked the decor and range of different seating. Definitely will be returning.

Cool atmosphere, best latte I've ever had and a good selection of gluten free cakes. Only thing they could improve would be if they had gluten free sandwiches, their food looks so tasty!

What great espresso! This is one of those few quality artisan coffee places... They know how to do it right if you are into the best in this kind of thing... Back twice already.

Awesome lil cafe in Kemptown. Cool, chilled out vibe. Great for somewhere to sit and read, chat with friends, do some work on your laptop etc. Coffee is always spot on and the interesting mix of food options always keeps us coming back for more. Super nice in the mornings when the sun is out too ;)
