A lovely place to have some lunch. The food, the staff and coffee are lovely and a cut above anything else in this area. A wonderful stainglass window creates a lovely light inside. Such a shame to learn it's going and I wish the staff the best of luck because they are all great.

There are places to get coffee, and then there are cafés. This one? Definitely an exquisite café. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by the friendliest barista. In a world where Starbucks reigns supreme and baristas often go through the line like it's the Olympics. The seating options are ample, with spots both upstairs and downstairs (and yes, there are plugs for those looking to settle in and get some work done). They clearly prioritize cleanliness, which is always a plus. The music? Perfect—great tunes playing at a reasonable volume to work in, adding to the overall cozy ambiance. Now, as much as I loved the service, we all know a café lives or dies by its coffee. I’m happy to report that they did not disappoint—plus, they offer free almond milk! The food was just as impressive. I had a granola bowl with a vegan yogurt alternative, and they didn’t skimp on the toppings. Fresh fruit, sweet granola with seeds and dried fruit, and a delectably sweet compote. The menu might be standard for a small café, but they execute it flawlessly. While the menu was pretty standard for a one off cafe it seems to be executed very well.

Nice place for breakfast or brunch. There is a small and busy seating area at ground level and a larger area upstairs. Eggs Benedict all round. The eggs were just right, with runny centres, crispy bacon and delicious muffins. The hollandaise sauce was very rich. A decent cup of coffee also.

Today’s visit was so disappointing we left without ordering. No bacon. They did not tell us when we came in, it was only when the app wouldn’t let me order my selection that we found out. No cash payments, no visible sign outside mentioning they won't accept cash. Rude cashier telling me "not to do an angry face over card payments only" instead of giving at least a fake apology for my inconvenience. The food was mediocre to above average but my portion size was ridiculous. It was sprinkled with corriander which I really hate! They could mention corriander in the menu at least. Would it kill them to give me 2 hash browns for £14 instead of 1? My friend had a breakfast for £10 (banana french toast) and the portion was double the size compared to mine. I was asked if I wanted a large cappucino. I said yes they got me a pretty regular one. It definitely wasn't over 200ml. Overall not the best experience. After spending there £34 for a breakfast for 2 I went elsewhere to eat another breakfast in a place where I could actually pay cash and the staff wasn't rude. It wasn't a terrible experience but they won't see me eating there again anytime soon.

Live nearby and decided to take my family visiting to the local nice café. Woman in pink hair decided to completely embarrass my father & I because we had pushed two single tables together. She was very passive aggressive over something that is a very normal thing to do (we were told to choose our own seats & didn't fancy the table next to the toilets). The back & forward argument went on for a good few minutes with her accusing us of "breaking the system." We politely told her that the tables have numbers on them & having four people on two small tables doesn't really make any difference. Considering I was about to pay over £40 for not a lot of food & coffees I now will be avoided this place. Every time someone visits me I will NOT Be taking them to my local café & instead repeating the story every time to warn them not to go. Overall: Bad customer service meaning its not justified paying the high prices. Lost a customer who lives within a 3 minute walk. PS: I went to a restaurant 2 minute walk with my parents that evening & they offered to push two single tables together!

I used to visit Grindsmith Coffee Roasters every Sunday morning (pre-COVID). Their café at MediaCityUK was around the corner from my flat. And I adore it. The interior has a Scandi-minimalist kind of vibe, with a hint of industrial heritage. And that's something you'll find in almost every coffee shop in Manchester. Now, moving onto the coffee... I have little to say other than that it's exceptional. Their passion for blending warm (yet smooth) coffee emanates from every mug. But, as if that wasn't enough, the food at Grindsmith is likewise top-notch. The menu may have changed since my last visit, but I recommend two items: 1) The Pancakes - I'm talking thick, American-style with mascarpone and berries. 2) The French Toast - Chunky (yet light) and served with maple syrup and bacon. So, if you work in or around MediaCity, and fancy popping out for a lunch break... ... head on over to Grindsmith.

Friendly staff, really delicious coffee and veggie breakfasts. A tad on the pricey side, but seemed worth it, especially compared to the pre-prepared microwave food you get in some coffee shop chains. The food was beautifully presented, good sized portions, and very tasty. We could have eaten a bit more cheaply at our hotel, but we're very glad we decided to try Grindsmith. If we happen to be in the Media City area again in the future, I'm sure we'd go back to try other menu items.

Lovely staff, helpful and kind. The only cafe in the area that's not a generic chain? The coffee was good, the food was really nice, though be aware portion size is not huge, so you may want some additional toast e.g. the avocado on toast comes with only one piece of bread. My long black was served in a cup with an impossibly small handle which made it difficult to drink - bare in mind if you have any difficulties with grip. Dog friendly inside. Very good access to ground floor, a small bump over the threshold and then the ground floor is smooth flat concrete with lots of space for a wheelchair at tables, and a disabled bathroom which looked reasonably large.

We [family of four] found a table and sat down. The table was filthy - but there was a sign you could display (I kid you not) that read ‘please wipe the table’. If the staff were efficient they would do this as a matter of course. It comes as no surprise therefore that the table was never cleaned despite us showing the sign. Staggeringly for a food outlet they allow dogs. Not everyone is a fan of dogs and some (as two of our family are) are allergic to dogs. We started to suffer the consequences. Allowing dogs but scant attention to cleanliness is a recipe for hygiene disaster. Desperate for some brekkie we thought we’d go with it. We thought that we could eat quickly and leave. But then matters were made worse. Items missing from menu, and the world’s slowest service. Food was ok, but overpriced. The service poor. The cleaning non existent (even if you use the sign). Maybe you have to request it on the app. But who wants to download yet another app just to order breakfast? Avoid. There are other options in the area.

Avoid - not worth paying this place a visit. Visited as a group of friends and were immediately informed that we weren’t allowed to push two tables upstairs for a bizarre reason about being able to move around upstairs despite there being plenty of room to manoeuvre around the tables regardless. Then, we were informed they were only able to offer fried eggs that day and not poached or scrambled as the menu stated. Given they only serve breakfast and most are reliant on eggs, it was absolutely baffling. We chose this place because it championed itself by being gluten-free friendly as one of our party is coeliac. We placed our orders and were then informed that they had no gluten free bread, a problem which could have been simply solved by popping to the Co op that was 100m down the road to grab some and serve our friend but given a spurious excuse that they couldn’t get the funds to pay for it as the owners were off - the only solution offered was a refund for the person whose breakfast they couldn’t make but as the rest of our food was being made so we couldn’t leave despite us all not being able to eat. The staff were incredibly unhelpful. Onto the food, I ordered a breakfast bap with a side of smashed avocado. The bap itself was fine, nothing to shout about. The smashed avocado was more like huge chunks of unripe avocado so half of it had to be left because the avocado was so hard it was inedible. On top of that, one of our party was left waiting for his food and only received his after everyone else was finished and ready to leave. Then there was a shocking debacle about the refund which the staff hadn’t put through properly which just made the whole situation worse. There’s so many better options for breakfast - do not choose here.

My friend introduced me to this little hidden gem. The coffee is absolutely splendid, staff are lovely, it was busy in there when we went at a weekend. During the weeks it's quiter, good for getting your head in a book and having darn good brew! Uh and to top it off they do pancakes 🥞 I mean who doesn't love pancakes! 😁

A gluten free centric menu that can’t meet demand as unable to replenish GF bread as the owners are ‘on holiday’ and cannot authorise £3 for another loaf.

A bit dingy and grim. Didn't have the first 2 things we tried to order. No apology or such like. Acceptable coffee but not a 'proper' coffee venue.

We visited here on Easter Monday and we pleasantly surprised at how good the food is and coffee is. We were here for the weekend and just by chance came across grindsmith. We had a full English breakfast and eggs Benedict. The food was of high standard and was good quality food. The coffee was fantastic too. We will definitely be visiting again when near by.

Went for breakfast a couple of weeks ago. Everything was lovely except for the fact they don’t allow swap items on food. As I don’t like beans I wanted to swap them out but was told they don’t do it. Think this was a bit harsh given it means I am paying full price for a partial breakfast.

Cracking find in Eccles. Lovely place inside and nice friendly Barman.

I didn't like the service, and I wasn't thrilled with the food either. We waited a long time for both the food and the bill. The atmosphere was not bad. But I have no desire to return.

Great atmosphere, brilliant service from friendly and attentive staff. Really good food, fish and chips and Katsu curry, highly recommend and will happily return next time we are in Media City
