The food was amazing and the setting and ambience was nice. We sat outside with heaters and blankets and it was lovely but there was only 1 girl on the bar and a busy bar so ordering was a little slow apart from that no complaints

I went for a lunch date with a new girlfriend. The food was excellent as was the friendly and helpful staff. I can strongly recommend this establishment and I will certainly go there again!!

Been here many many times and eaten the menu over and again. The food is always exceptional, as is the service, and the entertainment. Went last night and sampled some of the new menu. Goats cheese with hot honey and walnut starter was delicious and where do I begin to describe the chicken tikka supreme. I do like a curry but they don't usually like me but this was amazing. Mouth poppingly tasty and with no heartburn after, it's a win for me and will definitely be my go to curry fix. Other members of our group sampled the seafood risotto, the new seabass curried dish and the steak and it was a 10/10 for everyone. Can't wait to go back and sample more of the new additions to the menu.

The missing star is due to the extreme difficulty I had in booking a table. If the online booking system is faulty (which it was) surely phone bookings should be available? I feel there is an over reliance on technology. Having said that, our waitress was delightful and the food of excellent quality - worth the wait.

This place is a gem , first impression the beer garden lovely, I like the fact that it is covered too, good access , you enter and everywhere you look the decor is like wow, lots to look at, the lighting is perfect, I enjoyed the old feel of the place but new designs , very nice on the eyes, staff are lovely, service excellent, I loved the different seating areas, the toilets were lovely. The whole place is a nice environment to have a meal, presentation of food and taste was really good, I would Highley recommend.

Shame it only goes to 5* the food here deserves more. Quality.

Lovely food better than piccolino i had the king prawn linguine. I'd only popped in because waiting for a customer to turn up. I will defo be going back there soon.

Took over an hour to arrive. The food was alright but there wasnt enough. 1 roast potato cut in two, a spoon full of veg and an over crisp Yorkshire pud. All for the rip off price of 27 quid!! Don’t mind paying that if enough food and good quality

Normally coal and cotton are amazing, I’ve had breakfast there a few times and the waiter was so lovely and attentive, however I went on Saturday afternoon and it was the complete opposite. We waited almost 2 hours for our food, our starter didn’t even arrive and we had asked 3 waitresses when our food will be arriving and explained how long we had been waiting. We didn’t receive one apology from any staff members for the two hour delay on our food nor for our starter not arriving. We even had to ask for the refund of the starter. We waiting half an hour for our drinks to arrive but we were understanding as it may have been busy at the bar. We was very disappointed with the service, however our plates were cleared quickly and the wine was nice.

Rude staff no sign on tables they are reserved and they say oh sorry been booked Happen 3-4 times now

Nduja rolls nice. Great sauces. Arancini rip off, all rice - where the heck was the beef ragu?!! Rung to ask if I could have my lamb medium to well done (it turned up raw - i had to finish cooking it myself - now what is the point of that!). Told me was being picked up at X.o8, actually picked up at X.22 - 15 mins later so could have listened to my request. I suggested a box on Uber to say how you want it and just excuses why it couldn't be done. That it's the platforms responsibility (the simplest takeaway has the facility to leave a note next to a burger). They probably want to do things their own way and do not accept notes at all (individual items or for the order) - a £25.95 lamb chops dish and I can't ask for it to be done my way. Shocking inability to take feedback. Posh boothstown - no substance. Glad i tried the meal on offer - otherwise I would really be furious - still massively disappointing.

Got the steak & ale pie, it was unreal. Food ! Service was just perfect.

We booked here we they specifically had a soup and a sandwich menu. We arrived only to be told they had run out of bread! So we left.

Went to the annual Oktoberfest recently and these guys really know how to throw a party! Food was excellent, as it always is and the atmosphere was fantastic! Service is always 5* too

Really good quality food (lamb Sunday Roast and Fillet Steak). The gin Cheesecake was a very pleasant surprise. Excellent service from Megan, we'll definitely be coming back regularly now we have found it.

What an amazing establishment. The food was to die for. Iv never dribbled so much with a bone hanging out of my mouth in my life. Juiciest perky prime meat. The rack was the best iv ever had. I knew everyone was looking at my rack and was jealous. Our table had pizzas steaks but the rack was by far the star of the show. Our server Alicia was very attentive she was even jealous of my rack. The cocktails aswell was so 👌 🔥. The manchester tart went down so smoothly with the juicy bones, but even she still didn't steal the show. Get down here for a nibble you won't regret it. #poshnosh PS bring a bib you have been warned.

Amazing food, I had the ribeye, the best cocktail I’ve ever tasted, trust me get the Manchester tart, and Alicia (front of house) was so helpful and patient as we are an indecisive bunch.

My order didn’t turn up. I checked outside after it said it was delivered and nothing was there. I checked that I had the correct address within my just eat account, and I did. Disappointed, though this has never happened before

We had a perfect Sunday lunch before a trip to the RHS Bridgewater. The pub is beautiful, welcoming, spacious yet cosy and the service was excellent. Every colleague was friendly, attentive and so helpful. The drinks selection is great, especially the Boothstown gins. I grew up in Boothstown and never in all my years did I think we’d have our own gin and such a gorgeous pub in which to drink it. The food was served quickly, was hot, and the portions were great. The Yorkshire puddings were absolutely divine! The lamb and beef were tasty and cooked to perfection. There was a brilliant selection of veggies too. I couldn’t fault anything. Will absolutely be returning regularly. Well done.

I've only been there twice for breakfast and I'll definitely be back for dinner someday. I ordered bacon butty and it was perfectly made with crispy bacon from the grill. But there is also one minus that I found. You can't hold a flat white coffee cup. It is too heavy and uncomfortable. A tiny cup and you have to hold it with your both hands. The coffee itself is delicious without complaints. I recommend the Coal & Cotton and like to say thank you.

My initial order of the same items didn’t get delivered, even though it was registered as delivered through the Just Eat app. This order was late but at least it turned up. Quality food as is always the case with The Cole & Cotton!

Free cinema days for the kids! With free hot dog & chips, the cutest idea and the kids absolutely love it, we’ve been twice in the holidays! Thankyou so much for your hard work and putting something on for the kids.

Food was good but service was lacking. Was told we had until a certain time to give the table back but food took a long time to come out, so as a table of 9 we stressed a bit aboht the time as we'd not had dessert and we were obviously there for an occasion for our family. Dessert then took a while to come out and served in dribs and drabs. I think the original waitress telling us the time to vacate the table may have given us the wrong time as we werent then bothered again but it played on all of our minds the entire time. Food was really nice but we didn't get asked if we wanted drinks etc either

I've Been Twice And I'll Tell You Something As A Fact, The Doughballs Are Unique And Awesome! I Had The King Prawn Linguine And It Was Spectacular, The Portion Size Of It Was Amazing! Fantastic venue with really friendly staff. Went with my child for the summer holidays outdoor cinema. The fact they do this for free is so generous and really well thought out. The kids have little pots of popcorn and get a meal also. Thank you!

Amazing day ❤️ the food was amazing.

Tonight, the service was very slow all evening, the food came out all at different times, one person was finished eating before the rest of the food arrived, the steak was so raw it was practically mooing (they didn't ask how we wanted it doing so was expecting medium), the chips were stone cold and the humous starter had barely any humous on it. Ruined a birthday celebration really, deflated the mood.

Had a lovely brunch with a friend- sat outside because weather allowed (although can still use outside tables in cloudy weather as they are well covered ) service great 👍

After hearing great reviews about Coal and Cotton we thought we’d give it a try tonight … what a disappointment. The food came out cold and so was sent back only to return a little warmer. We did get an apology from the waitress but for the price I would expect a higher level of cuisine to be honest. Such a shame as the atmosphere was ‘buzzing.’

Visited for afternoon tea with a voucher which was bought as gift. Extremely disappointed with the afternoon we received. The sandwich filling selection was poor. One sandwich was made of raw red onion and hummus which was not pleasant. It was also felt there was not enough sandwiches per person. Again, wasn't a great selection of cakes. Scones were very cakey. Was very disappointed that not even a cold soft drink was included in the afternoon tea. Overall, I feel like the afternoon tea was vastly overpriced for what was recieved as it was poor. I would not be recommending this to others. In the end we had to put money towards which I felt was shocking because the voucher was bought as an afternoon tea but then the value didn't it cover it.

Came in with my 10 year old for food. Booked a table online and was seated straight away. There was plenty of room inside as there was a free kids cinema on outside . Food was delicious and service was great. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. The children's menu is good and there is plenty of choice on the a la carte menu. Would recommend and will definitely be back.

Came here after seeing various comments on a Facebook post saying how great it is. Unfortunately it didn't meet expectations. So to start Wasn't impressed that I had to give credit card details just to book a table along with all my details, but I did albeit very strange, didn't pat with that card so they now have details they didn't need stored on a device somewhere. Left a comment when booking a table, but the guy booking us in was very straight to business, no personal touch just..name..ok..table..go..I did try myself to make a bit of an interaction but nothing..dead pan. A young lady lead us to our table number 25. She was lovely and attentive throughout our visit so would get a 5 star for her. The table was tiny, 500x500 square i think, in a corner next to a solid tiled wall so no elbow room. There was a loud speaker above my head playing some kind of loud music but all I heard was bass beats. This was also kind centre opposite the bar so was busy with people and the noise of people was deafening. I imagine there must be better tables you may call cosy but there was nothing cosy other than some nice lights..the noise would be equivalent to the Stretford end after united scored. The food was nice, but at the price mark there was nothing special but it was very nice. Summing up Food was very nice but probably a little over priced Very nice decor and lighting (I'm guessing this is why they say it's cosy) The waiting staff was great Felt very much focused on money making more than customer focused. Not great for a nice cosy meal for 2. But would be a great night for groups or families. I would go again and give it another chance, it could be the seating position amplified the people noise etc but I would request a quiet table next time.. This is an honest personal review...nothing more or less..well worth a visit to give it a go yourself Overall this visit from me gets a 4 out of 10 Maybe next time it'll be much higher but can only judge on how it was this visit

Booked for two and a dog today. Lovely environment, decorated fabulously and the toilets were very industrial styled which was cool. Asked to move tables and they couldn’t have been more helpful. Very attentive service and friendly smiling staff. Great menu and good value for money. We ordered the truffle Mac and cheese halloumi burger and the steak with garlic king prawns. The food was delicious. Will definitely be returning.

Was so looking forward to our order, the food was only tepid warm on the brink of being cold, once arrived and also this was all in cardboard boxes we had to take the entire order out of boxes and place it in the microwave.

Overall enjoyed. Requested fish lightly battered but was the same as normal battered fish . Crème Brûlée had good taste but was not set.

We came to visit for breakfast for the 1st time on 9/7/24 to celebrate my daughter’s 21st birthday. To start with we ordered mimosas which were flat, then told you had no black pudding. It took 35 minutes for the food to be brought to 3 of my guests then mine came out 5 minutes later. The mushrooms tasted like they had been rolled in charcoal. The sour dough bread was so hard we was unable to cut through it. Once 3 of us had finished and one person was still eating the waitress took the plate of 3 finished plates and left the plate of the person eating which was so rude! It cost £106 for 4 breakfasts which isn’t cheap I am really disappointed and won’t be returning. I did let front of house know who apologised but I am still disappointed

This is our favourite local place for breakfast and it is just next level. It is cooked on the outdoor wood fire and its just different from anywhere else I've experienced. Theres a good range of food and drinks on offer, always events and entertainment and overall good vibes.

Booked for Sunday lunch on my wife’s birthday and was lucky enough to find a parking space in the pub car park. We were early but were taken directly to our table. We ordered drinks and food and my wife’s prosecco arrived promptly. By the time the food was served I still had not yet received my drink. I asked the server and he arranged for it to be sent over. The food was great but my wife was served with chicken but had ordered lamb. We decided not to say anything but customers should receive the meal they ordered. I would return but would not be so tolerant of poor service in the future.

First the positives, the service was excellent and the food is delicious too. I particularly enjoyed the koftas with home made flatbread and a side of hummus and feta, Mum had a delicious beef and ale pie with mash, gravy and "Manchester caviar". I should point out, that eating here on Saturday night was not very relaxing as it was very loud inside, with a fairly drunk clientele and Mum and I had to shout at each other over the din, not what I was expecting from a small distillery, pub and eatery. Having said that, for lunch on Saturday or Sunday or perhaps a midweek supper, I'm sure it would be a gentler experience and the food was extremely good. We also bought some of their own flavoured gin, which I am looking forward to trying. Do have a meal here, but pick your time wisely.

Absolutely delicious food and lovely interior. Definitely will return !! Update - went back for the first time in a while and was very disappointed with the quality of food. They didn't give enough warm bread for the hummus. Rib eye steak was chewy, and the chips were a little overdone and didn't seem fresh. It was like they had been hanging around the kitchen for a while. The mushroom and garlic sauce and blue cheese sauce were very watery consistency and tasteless. I felt embarrassed because I had been praising about this place to my friend. I couldn't eat the steak and left a quarter of it. I don't know if they have changed the chef,but I will not be coming here again for a long while.

Love this place, the atmosphere is always brilliant. A great place to unwind and enjoy yourself, the food is always amazing and to a very high standard. Even if like me you’re not local to the area it’s well worth a visit.

Been here a couple of times and it doesn’t disappoint! Can’t speak for most of the food but if you’re looking for a banger of a breakfast I can heartily recommend the boothstown big breakfast! You can tell the ingredients are all of quality which is why we make the drive there. Free coffee with any breakfast order too which is good. As others have said the car park can be a nightmare as it’s tiny and quite often full, but this is just a minor inconvenience as there’s plenty of residential parking in the area. The outside tent area is lovely if the weather is right and each of the staff members we have been served by have all been attentive and lovely. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back when the urge for a breakfast returns!

Ate here on Wednesday 26th, was busy outside due to the nice weather but fairly quiet inside on arrival, purposely booked prior to tea time to be ahead of the rush, was seated quickly but waited 15 mins before the waitress took a drinks order, food ordered, 15 mins later was told one of the main courses was unavailable, then told the mussels which had been ordered as a starter weren’t good enough to be served and had to select another starter, so took 40 mins to receive drinks n starters yet people arrived after us and appeared to have received their food first, food was nice as usual but service very slow and not to usual service level on this occasion

Do not buy the afternoon tea, you get 4 very small sandwiches each, very tiny!! combined it comes to about one sandwich. The rest is all sweet food which just becomes sickly. I also do not know why they have on their website advertising it at £21.95pp but also on another page as £30 each. Yes I read the wrong one but I don't know why they advertise two costs. I was advised it was old price but the cost is listed on their website name followed by /afternoontea. The owner was shocked that had found it but the cost is literally on website https://coalandcotton.co.uk/afternoon-tea/ . When I said I booked it assuming the cheaper cost the owner just said that was the cost when it first came out but not anymore, he didn't apologize and acted like it was my my fault for not knowing and as if I'd gone searching for these old prices. Unfortunately it is a rip off, £30 each for what you get is extremely expensive. I didn't want to tell my partner what we ended up paying as he already thought £44 was too much for what we got. Nice atmosphere though and the other food looked nice so we just really regretted afternoon tea when we could have had a better meal for a third off the price. Also the girl behind the bar was really nice and tried to help so thank you.

We came here in June and sat outside under the tent type area. Lovely spot and nice atmosphere.. food and drinks a bit slow hence the 4 stars (sure it’s probably quicker inside) but the food itself was really good! Very good quality and great flavours. Definitely come back again. Staff also lovely.

Why I've not visited sooner I have no idea! This place has an incredible menu and phenomenal tasting food. The atmosphere is very welcoming. My fussy 4 year old even ate! We sampled the Boothstown gin which is delicious. We will be returning more regularly for sure!

Visited here on the 17th June, was very busy and as per reviews and personal friends experience it was highly rated as a place to visit for food. At first we placed our order - the posh burger and a sirloin beef roast dinner with extra jus. We decided based on the next table who got served a cheesy garlic bread that looked delicious we'd opt for one. We asked the waitress who was serving the table next to us was there any chance of having one added as a starter. The waitress then approached our waitress for our table and it couldn't of been more obvious with the eye rolling and looking at our table that this was a big deal. She then came over to the table and said that our mains were nearly ready so we said fine we'll still order it and when it comes out it comes out and still had our mains served. Considering I'm going to a well recognised establishment I really didn't expect to have eyes rolled and be unprofessional about it. A simple visit to our table to explain would of been enough and understandable. The mains arrived, was presented very nice. The posh burger my daughter had was reported as delicious. The Sunday roast trimmings I must say was very tasty, it was unfortunately let down by a poor serving of roast beef/scrap. I had 3 very very sliced beef very small and full of fat. It did nor resemble the photos uploaded by previous customers. I tried my best with a taste of beef and didn't bother with the 3rd Alice there was no point. I reported this yo the waitress and she just said sorry. When the waitress came back I did have the trip advisor images on my phone but I was told sirloin has fat in it. Yes, correct it does but what I was given could be beaten by a Toby Carvery with little effort. If there had been no fat on it thr portion would have been gone after 2 mouthfuls. Please look at the standard you have served this previously on trip advisor it's very easy to compare. I just felt I reported this and it wasn't taken seriously or corrected I was eye rolled at. Such a shame as we thought we were in for a good afternoon.

Picked based on the online reviews and never been before; excellent venue, excellent meal and service - will go again.

He was recently diagnosed with cancer . So has a suppressed appetite . My friend a i , managed to get him to come . James as always made us so welcome . The young lady who looked after us . Never passed our table , without topping up our coffee . We ordered c3 Boothstown specials . My dear friend with suppressed appetite cleared his plate!! It would have been rude , if we had not done the same . Thank you James & the lovely smiling young lady that looked after us for a brilliant breakfast . Also a big heads up to the chef . Red hot coffee . Proper butchers bacon , sausage& black pudding . Everything perfect . It was lovely to see our friend eat . I have breakfast often with my sister . Always made so welcome . Thank you again James . Your establishment is always busy . Which is a reflection on how well you treat your customers & the wonderful selection of top class food . Regards Paul.

Food brilliant creme brulee to die for

We went for afternoon tea for a friends special birthday. The food came on a pyramid stand with freshly made finger sandwiches and lovely scones(plenty of jam and clotted cream 😃)and a beautiful cheesecake, Manchester tart and a lovely sponge. The staff were attentive but not fussy and we had coffee which was free with the afternoon tea - we have had afternoon tea in other places and been charged for lattes! I would thoroughly recommend Coal and Cotton and will be going back.

We had a table booked and had to wait 20 minutes before being seated. The food was average, however our waitress was lovely. We waited over half an hour for our mains to arrive. The same with desserts, we ordered 4 old school cake with pink custard, after waiting nearly half an hour we were told there was only 1 left, they had another box, but nobody could find it. 3 disappointed diners.

Lovely meal. All enjoyed our choices. Great experience and so nice to sit outside. Drinks order a little strange but we got there in the end. The only thing I found hard was booking in the first place!!! I must try harder!!!!

Fleur was fabulous, super chatty and helpful. Had a lovely evening, food was great and the service was 10/10 all around.

We have visited several times, and will be back, because the food is always excellent and is a good price. However, every time we have been the service has been too slow, especially when there are only 3 of us and it isn’t overly busy. The staff are friendly and polite. I don’t know if they need more staff in the kitchen or bar but it would be a 5* review if this was improved.

Excellent good value food. Normally service is excellent but on this occasion it was somewhat slow. Half an hour to receive bread sticks. Also had to ask for salt and a knife as these weren't on the table. This was very unusual and won't stop us visting again

It was really busy, we sat at table 22 in front of the bar, my chair kept getting knocked with people trying to get past and I honestly felt like I was sat in the middle of the bar area. Unpleasant experience and disappointed that we were placed at that table. Other tables free but reserved, however nobody sat at any of the tables the whole time we were there. I feel like we got a really bad deal and surprised the staff never offered us a discount or even an apology. One busy days they should remove that table and not subject anyone to the unpleasant experience that we had 😥

Booked a table of 6 rang up to ask them to change the day, was then charged £30, after querying this on the date we reschedule too, for the guy laughed and said these things happen, no refund was given. We ordered 3 stakes which came massively overcooked, one member of our party decided to return the food and was made to wait 40 minutes for another, as the women forgot, Won't be returning rather go to Worsley old hall far better service and don't charge you for there mistakes
