I've only been there twice for breakfast and I'll definitely be back for dinner someday. I ordered bacon butty and it was perfectly made with crispy bacon from the grill. But there is also one minus that I found. You can't hold a flat white coffee cup. It is too heavy and uncomfortable. A tiny cup and you have to hold it with your both hands. The coffee itself is delicious without complaints. I recommend the Coal & Cotton and like to say thank you.

Terrible service at Coal and Cotton Our visit to Coal and Cotton was a huge disappointment yesterday. We arrived with our two hungry kids, hoping for a nice family meal, but ended up waiting over 45 minutes without receiving our mains. Meanwhile, several tables that arrived after us, with more people, got their food long before we did. To make matters worse, the manager didn't even bother to show up, apologize, or address the situation in any way. The lack of attention and basic courtesy was shocking. This experience left us frustrated and upset, and we certainly won’t be returning.

Food was good but service was lacking. Was told we had until a certain time to give the table back but food took a long time to come out, so as a table of 9 we stressed a bit aboht the time as we'd not had dessert and we were obviously there for an occasion for our family. Dessert then took a while to come out and served in dribs and drabs. I think the original waitress telling us the time to vacate the table may have given us the wrong time as we werent then bothered again but it played on all of our minds the entire time. Food was really nice but we didn't get asked if we wanted drinks etc either

Tonight, the service was very slow all evening, the food came out all at different times, one person was finished eating before the rest of the food arrived, the steak was so raw it was practically mooing (they didn't ask how we wanted it doing so was expecting medium), the chips were stone cold and the humous starter had barely any humous on it. Ruined a birthday celebration really, deflated the mood.

After hearing great reviews about Coal and Cotton we thought we’d give it a try tonight … what a disappointment. The food came out cold and so was sent back only to return a little warmer. We did get an apology from the waitress but for the price I would expect a higher level of cuisine to be honest. Such a shame as the atmosphere was ‘buzzing.’

Came in with my 10 year old for food. Booked a table online and was seated straight away. There was plenty of room inside as there was a free kids cinema on outside . Food was delicious and service was great. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. The children's menu is good and there is plenty of choice on the a la carte menu. Would recommend and will definitely be back.

Came here after seeing various comments on a Facebook post saying how great it is. Unfortunately it didn't meet expectations. So to start Wasn't impressed that I had to give credit card details just to book a table along with all my details, but I did albeit very strange, didn't pat with that card so they now have details they didn't need stored on a device somewhere. Left a comment when booking a table, but the guy booking us in was very straight to business, no personal touch just..name..ok..table..go..I did try myself to make a bit of an interaction but nothing..dead pan. A young lady lead us to our table number 25. She was lovely and attentive throughout our visit so would get a 5 star for her. The table was tiny, 500x500 square i think, in a corner next to a solid tiled wall so no elbow room. There was a loud speaker above my head playing some kind of loud music but all I heard was bass beats. This was also kind centre opposite the bar so was busy with people and the noise of people was deafening. I imagine there must be better tables you may call cosy but there was nothing cosy other than some nice lights..the noise would be equivalent to the Stretford end after united scored. The food was nice, but at the price mark there was nothing special but it was very nice. Summing up Food was very nice but probably a little over priced Very nice decor and lighting (I'm guessing this is why they say it's cosy) The waiting staff was great Felt very much focused on money making more than customer focused. Not great for a nice cosy meal for 2. But would be a great night for groups or families. I would go again and give it another chance, it could be the seating position amplified the people noise etc but I would request a quiet table next time.. This is an honest personal review...nothing more or less..well worth a visit to give it a go yourself Overall this visit from me gets a 4 out of 10 Maybe next time it'll be much higher but can only judge on how it was this visit

We came to visit for breakfast for the 1st time on 9/7/24 to celebrate my daughter’s 21st birthday. To start with we ordered mimosas which were flat, then told you had no black pudding. It took 35 minutes for the food to be brought to 3 of my guests then mine came out 5 minutes later. The mushrooms tasted like they had been rolled in charcoal. The sour dough bread was so hard we was unable to cut through it. Once 3 of us had finished and one person was still eating the waitress took the plate of 3 finished plates and left the plate of the person eating which was so rude! It cost £106 for 4 breakfasts which isn’t cheap I am really disappointed and won’t be returning. I did let front of house know who apologised but I am still disappointed

Booked for Sunday lunch on my wife’s birthday and was lucky enough to find a parking space in the pub car park. We were early but were taken directly to our table. We ordered drinks and food and my wife’s prosecco arrived promptly. By the time the food was served I still had not yet received my drink. I asked the server and he arranged for it to be sent over. The food was great but my wife was served with chicken but had ordered lamb. We decided not to say anything but customers should receive the meal they ordered. I would return but would not be so tolerant of poor service in the future.

First the positives, the service was excellent and the food is delicious too. I particularly enjoyed the koftas with home made flatbread and a side of hummus and feta, Mum had a delicious beef and ale pie with mash, gravy and "Manchester caviar". I should point out, that eating here on Saturday night was not very relaxing as it was very loud inside, with a fairly drunk clientele and Mum and I had to shout at each other over the din, not what I was expecting from a small distillery, pub and eatery. Having said that, for lunch on Saturday or Sunday or perhaps a midweek supper, I'm sure it would be a gentler experience and the food was extremely good. We also bought some of their own flavoured gin, which I am looking forward to trying. Do have a meal here, but pick your time wisely.

Absolutely delicious food and lovely interior. Definitely will return !! Update - went back for the first time in a while and was very disappointed with the quality of food. They didn't give enough warm bread for the hummus. Rib eye steak was chewy, and the chips were a little overdone and didn't seem fresh. It was like they had been hanging around the kitchen for a while. The mushroom and garlic sauce and blue cheese sauce were very watery consistency and tasteless. I felt embarrassed because I had been praising about this place to my friend. I couldn't eat the steak and left a quarter of it. I don't know if they have changed the chef, but I will not be coming here again for a long while.

Been here a couple of times and it doesn’t disappoint! Can’t speak for most of the food but if you’re looking for a banger of a breakfast I can heartily recommend the boothstown big breakfast! You can tell the ingredients are all of quality which is why we make the drive there. Free coffee with any breakfast order too which is good. As others have said the car park can be a nightmare as it’s tiny and quite often full, but this is just a minor inconvenience as there’s plenty of residential parking in the area. The outside tent area is lovely if the weather is right and each of the staff members we have been served by have all been attentive and lovely. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back when the urge for a breakfast returns!

Do not buy the afternoon tea, you get 4 very small sandwiches each, very tiny!! combined it comes to about one sandwich. The rest is all sweet food which just becomes sickly. I also do not know why they have on their website advertising it at £21.95pp but also on another page as £30 each. Yes I read the wrong one but I don't know why they advertise two costs. I was advised it was old price but the cost is listed on their website name followed by /afternoontea. The owner was shocked that had found it but the cost is literally on website https://coalandcotton.co.uk/afternoon-tea/ . When I said I booked it assuming the cheaper cost the owner just said that was the cost when it first came out but not anymore, he didn't apologize and acted like it was my my fault for not knowing and as if I'd gone searching for these old prices. Unfortunately it is a rip off, £30 each for what you get is extremely expensive. I didn't want to tell my partner what we ended up paying as he already thought £44 was too much for what we got. Nice atmosphere though and the other food looked nice so we just really regretted afternoon tea when we could have had a better meal for a third off the price. Also the girl behind the bar was really nice and tried to help so thank you.

Visited here on the 17th June, was very busy and as per reviews and personal friends experience it was highly rated as a place to visit for food. At first we placed our order - the posh burger and a sirloin beef roast dinner with extra jus. We decided based on the next table who got served a cheesy garlic bread that looked delicious we'd opt for one. We asked the waitress who was serving the table next to us was there any chance of having one added as a starter. The waitress then approached our waitress for our table and it couldn't of been more obvious with the eye rolling and looking at our table that this was a big deal. She then came over to the table and said that our mains were nearly ready so we said fine we'll still order it and when it comes out it comes out and still had our mains served. Considering I'm going to a well recognised establishment I really didn't expect to have eyes rolled and be unprofessional about it. A simple visit to our table to explain would of been enough and understandable. The mains arrived, was presented very nice. The posh burger my daughter had was reported as delicious. The Sunday roast trimmings I must say was very tasty, it was unfortunately let down by a poor serving of roast beef/scrap. I had 3 very very sliced beef very small and full of fat. It did nor resemble the photos uploaded by previous customers. I tried my best with a taste of beef and didn't bother with the 3rd Alice there was no point. I reported this yo the waitress and she just said sorry. When the waitress came back I did have the trip advisor images on my phone but I was told sirloin has fat in it. Yes, correct it does but what I was given could be beaten by a Toby Carvery with little effort. If there had been no fat on it thr portion would have been gone after 2 mouthfuls. Please look at the standard you have served this previously on trip advisor it's very easy to compare. I just felt I reported this and it wasn't taken seriously or corrected I was eye rolled at. Such a shame as we thought we were in for a good afternoon.

We asked to move but were told at first that it was fully booked and as I hadn’t requested on my booking the Cotton side then we were given a table where available! There was no option for this and to be honest I didn’t know the two sides had names!! The gentleman was not very sympathetic and said we should have requested that side and it was all booked up! So he couldn’t move us. We were about to walk out when a very helpful lady came over and said if we were willing to wait 10/15 mins she would move us. Which is what we did. Sausage & rosti were gorgeous & loved the smoked BBQ taste to the sourdough & the beans. Lady on check in was friendly but told us immediately that our table was needed back within the hour - we've not even sat down yet & time to eat all depends on your kitchens really? A young man did appear and when I asked if food was still being served he seemed quite flustered and told me to wait in quite a rude manner!!!! as he was doing something. I wouldn't mind but it wasn't even busy so we stood there still nobody behind the bar. We walked out to get better service els where

Came today for afternoon tea. The restaurant was extremely busy for a Friday lunchtime and the service was rather slow. The afternoon tea itself was probably one of the nicest afternoon teas I've ever had. The salmon and cream cheese sandwich was especially delicious. We had one large pot of tea between two of us, I could have enjoyed another cuppa, but the waiting on staff were very busy so it was hard to catch anyone's attention. There were a couple of rather loud lads in the restaurant opposite where we were seated using bad language which was a bit off putting, but we didn't let it spoil our afternoon. Would we come again? Of course we would. The food here is delicious and reasonably priced. 😊

Made a booking 5 weeks ago, tried to add 1 more, they had no booking for me so booked again for last night, (spoke to the manager) on arrival no booking again ! 🤮I was told respond to our email to confirm the booking no email came on both bookings The place was empty 4.30 /5 Finally got the food. Half of dish Luke warm soup, meal ok not brilliant , bar staff/ waitress 👍 but got the sweet order wrong. On fish and chips fish was ok but a dessert spoon of peas. The bill was £56 should have gone to White horse Worsley

Visited with a friend for breakfast. Lovely surroundings, pleasant staff and great food served on hot plates. A little on the expensive side for what you get. My only criticism was that they allow children to run around other diners. I know this is the responsibility of the parents but some don’t care. When the staff can see customers being disturbed by these kids, they could speak politely with the parents.

The pictures are an accumulation of the past times we have been here. The place is a gem & I’m so glad we found it!! Started going here just before Christmas and have been back nearly every Sunday since! The value for money is some of the best I have known. We moved to Manchester not so long ago and have been searching high and low for the best Sunday roast that we didn’t make! The portion sizes are insane you will not leave hungry. We have tried all the roasts apart from their veggie option and we can say each meat is cooked to perfection. If you can’t decide there is an option for a sharing platter with all meats and all the trimmings for a little over £30 which is amazing for what you get. The only thing I don’t eat on the plate out of personal choice is the red cabbage. I’ve just never been a fan and I think it’s seasoned with maybe 5 spice again personal preference but it’s too fragranced for me. You basically get a whole chicken and half a cow or lamb when you order they do not scrimp on quantity. The girlies are amazing they are huge but not burnt they are still gooey. The starters really do gear you up for a great meal our favourites are the chilli garlic prawns(huge and sweet), Nduja dough balls & the chicken wings. Crispy potatoes packed full of flavour. The jus or gravy is amazing. Great dessert menu if you can fit anything else in and the service is always attentive and homely!

My wife and I enjoyed a drink while we waited for fish and chips x 2 at our table. When they arrived, we noticed the batter was dark brown and over cooked. The peas were cold, the chips tasted like they were warmed up and only retained some heat, certainly not worth nearly £16 each. A waitress asked how was our food and, we told her truthfully. She was full of apologies and offered to get us replacements, which we couldn't be bothered waiting for.

Went on Sunday with my partner, had a very good roast lamb dinner with homemade Yorkshire pudding, enjoyed it immensely, if you're thinking of going a note of warning it gets very busy so reserve a table in advance. Well worth a visit.

Booked for four adults 8th Feb.Lunch time I know but booking was accepted. Drinks ordered immediately as was food, drinks came immediately but food came 1hr 10mins later, unacceptable. We were not the only diners to have this long wait. We were taking friends for a birthday treat, they had travelled considerable distance, we were embarrassed. No apology was offered. The food, however, was delicious, although served by a, seemingly stressed, man with no interaction except for an off hand remark to one of our friends. Such a shame, the pub is lovely and staff on the whole are hard working and friendly but the long wait for food has occured too many times for us.

The best local you could ever wish for. We visit here regularly both with the kids and without. It has everything and something for everyone. The food is great and reasonably priced. The specials I had over the weekend were fabulous!

The food was good but definitely suffered due to how busy the place was. The wait time was long, perhaps 40 mins. My prawn linguine was a little bland in terms of the pasta but I would say the prawns tasted fresh. The presentation was the element that suffered, it looked like it was slapped on the plate. I will definitely go back to this place, I had breakfast there a week earlier and that was great. Avoid peak times.

‘All are welcome’ well clearly not as we were welcomed at the door by 2 extremely bouncers who told us we are not allowed in as my friend did not have any identification with him. He is not drinking due to personal issues but still they insisted he was not coming in. It clearly states on the website that everyone is welcome but clearly this is not the case.

Wonderful as always. Especially amazing this time round as my partner has coeliac disease, and he was given a separate menu, which is so rare. Great with my kids always. We love the C&C.

We have lived in the area since July but have only just discovered this pub. We have been twice this week already and will be going again for the Sunday menu tomorrow. By far the best food in the area and in my view beating Worsley Hall for quality and value for money.

Took my aunty to the C&C for her birthday today and she thoroughly enjoyed it one happy aunty 👍. Got to say the steak and chunky chips with peppercorn sauce are probably one of the best I've ever had and service is also great. I really should try something other than the steak because the other food looks fit too but i just love it so much. Keep up the good work C&C

Delicious food the king prawn linguine with white wine, tomatoes, garlic, chilli and spinach was amazing. The two young ladies who served us were really lovely. The cappuccino is also really good, not bitter like some coffee can be. Nice roaring fire on a cold January evening. Thank you 😊
