Very busy on a Saturday afternoon, recommend booking a table if you are coming for food. service was a wee bit slow but it was very busy. Dog friendly in the bar and part of the restaurant (water and treats available). The small plates option on the menu was really good and well priced. No Guinness on tap but lots of other options on draft.

Not a bad pub. We dropped in for a few beers and would return. Decent service, reasonable prices and a not bad place to spend a couple of hours with a few beers.

£4.25 for a pint of Diet Coke - come here if you want to be robbed! Staff are very pleasant, but I just can’t get over the price of drinks. Will not be back here!

Popped in for quick lunch as seen it was dog friendly. Service with a smile and seemed genuinely interested in our visit. Will be back again as just over from Dundee. Reasonably priced pub food.

3.35 for a can of juice… says it all. No wonder the place was empty. Scandalous pricing. Food was alright and staff were food. Obviously trying to up the prices were they can.

Possibly the worst food I have had in Scotland. As a Fifer I was embarrassed to be served up what me and my wife got served up - how can you ruin a club sandwich - well Greyfriars managed it ! The manager took it off the bill but if the owners/management think their food is acceptable I would question their competence !

The hotel was bare-bones. This felt more like a youth hostel than a hotel. The positive side is that the rooms are big and you can easily share with a friend or other golfing buddies. Old, outdated, and in need of some upkeep. Really suits male golfers who just want to golf and don’t care where they sleep. The free breakfast in the morning was decent though and the pub seems to attract locals which can lead to a fun atmosphere. Just set your expectations for the rooms.

Great location in St Andrews. Free car park right next door which you can leave over night is just a great bonus. Stayed here for a night and the room was huge. Very quiet also which really surprised me. Very comfortable bed and great breakfast.

Stopped here on a weekend away for a bite to eat, we had the scampi and chips, steak pie and chips and a kids sausage, chips and beans, one of the sausage were impossible to cut to which the establishment replaced the entire meal, the other two meals were less than impressive with even the chips being a letdown, I had a word with the manager and he removed the food from the bill which we appreciated, couldn't fault the service and the waiting and bar staff were great, just a shame I couldn't say the same about the food.

Wonderful pub in the heart of town. Friendly, attentive service; good pub fare (lots of GF options for the wife); lively atmosphere.

Love this place. We stayed here for three nights and could not be happier. The rooms we a good size and clean. Everyone was friendly and helpful. This is my new “go to” place in St. Andrews.

Stopped in here because it was round the corner from St. Andrews Old Course. Husband had hamburger and beer. Loved the shiny wood.

My husband and Inare staying at the Grey Friars Inn. We had the steak & Ale pie- for dinner, absolutely delicious! The crust was so flaky! Out waitress was Fiona- very attentive.

This was our least favorite lodging during our eight days in Scotland. The rooms were very dated, the blinds were caked with dust, staff were indifferent at best, the windows only open a few inches making it difficult to get fresh air. The bath/shower had black mold in several places where caulk had been used to repair water damage. The one thing the Greyfriars has going for it is its location, just a couple blocks from the Old Course and the waterfront.

Enjoyed a fantastic meal after our arrival in St. Andrews. Fiona was very kind & helpful and created a friendly and welcoming atmosphere! The Food was outstanding and Vince the cook surprised us with a great soup of the day and tasty main courses. All the orders were perfectly cooked and greatly enjoyed! Thanks to the whole team, we’ll be back😉

Big comfortable room. All the staff are really friendly. It's right in the centre of town with a free car park at the side.

Stayed 2 nights. Room on third floor with lift only going to second floor. Great view of chimneys and seagulls. Floor poorly constructed creating very noisy squeeking floor boards. You can hear other guests during the night walking about. The shower in the bath is dangerous to use. Glass screen that cannot open prevents you from adjusting very hot and cold taps without getting into the bath. No anti scald valve. Getting it wrong and getting out of the bath quickly( with no anti slip mat ) would test anyone. Breakfast was very good. Evening meal was poor quality. The location for seeing St Andrews was excellent. The staff were very good. Would we return to Grey Friers . NO.

The shower in the bathroom was fitted behind a glass panel that could to open to adjust the water temp. There was no ante scald valve fitted and adjusting the temperature required getting into the bath to adjust the very hot and cold taps with no anti slip mat . The whole unit was dangerous to use. We were on the third floor. The lift only goes to the second floor. The third floor construction is poor . During the night we could hear guests walking noisely over the squeeky floor. All in all would we go back to Greyfriars Inn - NO

Always make an effort to visit greyfriars when in st andrews. Excellent selection of drinks and good honest food. Can't go wrong. Even let dogs in to the top bar area

A great place to have a beer. The barman Aaron was a pure gent and knew how to bartend. The best bar we went to so far

Went in for the 6 nations and Altho it was very busy the staff were great. Also went back a few days later for lunch with my son, food was excellent and again the staff were awesome. 10/10.

We had breakfast in the pub, an English breakfast that was very good. The person who helped us even added more things than what was included, we left very satisfied. In addition, he treated us excellently, he cared about whether everything was okay and even took an interest in our visit to Saint Andrews. Also, everything was very clean. An excellent place, quiet and cozy, to eat something, and excellent service.

First time visiting this hotel, and the minute I walked through the door, I knew it was my kinda place. All staff were very friendly and do all they can to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The only room available was a family one, but we loved it due to the size. There was a superking bed and 2 good sized singles plus 2 TVs. Bathroom was perfect for me as had a bathtub/shower. Towels were excellent quality and room and bathroom were spotlessly clean, as was all of the hotel. Very pleasant bar/ lounge and loved the fact it was dog friendly. Lovely decor and quirky signs dotted about the place. Breakfast was first class with a very pleasant waitress serving. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel and we enjoyed our stay so much (it was my husband's birthday) that we've booked again for my birthday in May.

Mid afternoon Sunday, we were welcomed by a friendly lady who seated us in a lovely quiet spot where I could watch the football. Food and drinks were served promptly. It’s pub grub, not gourmet, but we enjoyed our steak pies and a sticky toffee pudding. Exactly what we expected from a town centre pub. Definitely recommended,

Arrived for a one night stay and was given a warm welcome by Gemma and Craig. We had lunch and breakfast at the hotel and the food and service was excellent. The bar area is also a good place to sit and people watch and you will find all the bar staff very friendly and always on hand to give you tips on places to visit in the area The room was spacious, clean and comfortable Could not fault the whole visit would definitely return

Only stayed one night at Greyfriars, but it was an excellent experience! I travelled from Canada with my cousin, and we were warmly greeted by Craig, who was able to check us in with speed and ease, which was greatly appreciated. The room was simple, but exactly what we needed after a long day of travel. We were looked after by Fiona the next morning, and she was such a great help! Very friendly and accommodating to let us store our bags after checkout. The included breakfast the next morning was very delicious and filling. I'll be sure to stay at Greyfriars again and will recommend it to anyone who is travelling there! Thank you again for your wonderful hospitality!

We stayed here for one night and were very happy with our stay! Craig was very helpful and welcoming when we arrived. The room was clean and comfortable, and the location of the hotel was perfect. Fiona was absolutely lovely serving breakfast, and also helping us find a place to store our luggage since we had some time between checking out and our bus. Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again if I come back to the area! Big thanks again to Fiona!

Enjoyed my stay here. Basic hotel with bar and restaurant. Kitchen burnt toast could be avoided if guests made own toast. However nice breakfast. Good central location in St Andrews, for town, bars, restaurants and universities. Take a walk down the harbour, nice coastal walk. Rooms fine, can hear other guests in adjacent rooms and in corridor, but during my stay this was not a drama. Staff always helpful, including booking early taxi to train station at Leuchars.

Great place to watch football and good choices for food and drink. Good atmosphere with multiple viewing points. Friendly staff and good service

Ordered the chicken and bacon sandwich x2 and share chicken wings Sandwich was cheap white bread with sandwich filler , side salad with balsamic water melon Wings has been microwaved Left feeling very unsatisfied after spending £48 on a lunch , that a Tesco meal deal would match Noticed the central also has the same menu Stay away from there overpriced crap and pick somewhere else in the town

Great local pub with excellent service. I had the steak and ale pie and it was delicious—piping hot! This was the best meal I have had on my trip to Scotland so far. I highly recommend! Five stars for me.

Amazing food, servers were very good. Fiona tended to us and was absolutely lovely. BEST service since landing in the UK from California. Stayed for last drinks at The Jigger then made our way in to town they were serving drinks well beyond midnight. Full bar, classic setting and everything you need. Didn’t eat but seem to have a full menu. Couple of TVs which were showing the golf live.

Went for a quick bar lunch and I was very happy with the quality and quantity of the food served. One fish supper and one gammon steak were both very good quality and the service was also very good. Thanks to Fiona for her care and attention and she made sure we were served well and happy with the quality of the food.

We stayed here and were well looked after by the staff. Greyfriars is a popular spot with a wide selection of beers and a nice restaurant. It's within easy walking distance of the R&A and the Old Course, as well as the Castle, Cathedral and most of the other places of history and interest in St Andrews town.

Our family had a really nice meal at the Greyfriars Inn on Hogmanay evening. The food was very nice and Rhona, our server, was fantastic. She looked after us very well and was so friendly. The pub is very homely and has a good atmosphere.
