Having stopped in Chapel-en-le-Frith, we asked a business owner for a recommendation for lunch. She directed us to visit the Beehive Inn in Combs, a small village 10 minutes drive away. We loved it. Inside & outside seating, good ales and I loved the Hot Roast Beef and sticky onion and gravy dish on Granary Bloomer. Win!!! One of those pubs where you get to chat to the local customers and admire their well-behaved dogs. This is the best of British!

This place offers it all! Fantastic food prepared with imagination and care, served by the friendliest of staff, and great size portions too. As just one member of a vegan family, of which we are all in agreement, there is no better place to eat! I always leave The Walnut Tree looking forward to my next visit. An added bonus is the adjoining food and craft shop which sells individual frozen portions of a large selection of their meals..............curries, tagines, stews.........we have tried them all and they, too, are delicious. Thank you to everyone at the Walnut Tree for a truly amazing gastronomical experience every time!

We’ve visited The Punch Bowl many times, as it’s just 10 minutes away from us, and it’s always been a nice pub in the past. Unfortunately, something has changed, and it’s not for the better. Upon arrival, we were met with stares from the locals, almost as if we were being judged on whether we were ‘worthy’ of being there. Despite having made a reservation, we were seated at a cramped table in the corner, right by the serving door, which was kicked open into my chair. The table had originally been set for three, but it was hard to see how it would’ve worked comfortably for any diner being so close to the door. There were other tables available, including one with just young children at it, so it felt unnecessary to place us where we were. The food was okay, but it no longer felt like good value for the price. Additionally, we were charged for a drink we didn’t order, though it was promptly removed when we pointed it out. All in all, this community pub no longer lives up to what it once was.

Cracking beer pub with a modern twist. Loads of beers to choose from. Dog friendly. Nice to find a pub that's not a restaurant.
