I’m regular of this chippy. I can only say , that his is an amazing place for who loves fish&chips. Highly recommended.

We're Monday afternoon regulars in the restaurant part and have been for several years now. My wife has the fish & chips whilst I have the moussaka. It's always lovely, always friendly. Except for today. Aside from one other couple, the restaurant was completely empty. We picked a table near a radiator as it was a cold day, only for the waitress to tell us that we couldn't sit there because it was a 4-seater table. She said we had to sit on a 2-seater where it was cooler, just in case a group of four might walk in and require that table - bearing in mind that there were at least a dozen other 4-seater tables all vacant at the time and none of them were reserved. We didn't want to sit in the cold so we left without ordering and won't be going back. All our future business is now lost. Poor do. :(

Best chippy I have ever known. Huge queue that is dealt with extremely quick, friendly staff. Dining in and phoning your order in is also an option. Again, they're the best chippy I've ever known.

£10.30 for 2 large chips & curry sauce wot a rip off chips were warmed up disgusting do not rate this place at all

£5 for one bag of chips and they was left overs

Clean plenty of staff ,pease very dry processed Type not proper pease ,fish over cooked dry an batter soggy .over priced chippy for what you get will not return, chips greasy an limp " say no more "

I can't eat wheat or gluten. The choice on their GF menu is excellent. It's more expensive if you eat inside the restaurant but I usually get takeaway food in any case. My son has no issues eating wheat etc. He likes their food very much and agrees that it's a really good chip shop. The food is very good quality. It's a thriving business and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Regular visitors and never anything other than great food and excellent service. The staff always take time to chat and have a bit of banter with everyone. We arrived just after 3pm thinking it would be quiet and it was just the opposite, this is a great indicator of how popular it is 👍👍👍

We are regulars here at this great Chippy . Took my very elderly parents tonight for my mums 92 nd birthday. Such a friendly place , lovely and warm on a cold night . Had an excellent meal , freshly cooked fish and lovely chips … delicious. When we went to pay , the owner had deducted mums meal cost as a treat for her birthday…. Such a lovely gesture. Thanks to all the lovely staff there .

I saw this chippy on you tube chippy tour gave a very good review so I paid a visit it did not disappoint I had rag pudding a first for me chips and peas everything was delicious will be going back again

Nearly always busy, and so chips are usually fresh and hot. Varied menu including kebabs and children's meals. Fast efficient service of food that is averagely priced. Great local chippy.

Fabulous chippy and restaurant. The fish and chips were wonderful. The gluten free steak and ale pie was out of this world. The staff are all friendly and helpful.

The most amazing hidden gem with a lovely restaurant. Delicious fish and chips with a lovely Greek salad. Homemade pie & chips and I had tea my wife had a glass of wine - family run - will be back !

Had chips and fish last week they were nothing special.not as good as some people make them out to be.just about average.

Excellent chips peas could be slightly better seasoned but are tasty all the same I had a jumbo sausage too which was nice

I had heard good things about this chip shop, looked on line and good reviews. We ordered haddock, chips and fish twice, a pot of curry sauce and a pea fritter. Unfortunately it was not a good experience. The fish was bland, it tasted of nothing and the batter a bit thick and soggy. The peas were OK to be fair& the pea fritter too greasy. However, the chips were a disaster, undercooked (to the point that I could crunch some of them!) and pale. The curry sauce is that sweet very mild tasting stuff. It also took the girl ages to wrap it up to the point of thinking has she been trained. The other staff didn't offer to help and were not busy. 1/5 is a fair score. Loads of food uneaten it was that poor and £23 worse off.

Took my grandson to The award winning Green Lane Chippy in Leigh. We opted to dine in. The food, and service were second to none. We’ll be be back!

I phoned the chippy beforehand to check for vegan options. They did several, so we decided to go and eat in at their restaurant next door. We arrived at a really busy time for traffic on the road and couldn't find parking. As I was getting served, I explained I was the one who phoned about vegan options, and unfortunately, we couldn't find a parking spot. One of the guys behind the counter told us where we could park, but if there wasn't any, he told us to come and park outside the shop and he would move his car for us. I thought that was exceptional service. We found a parking spot and ate at the restaurant. You need to ask for the vegan menu, and you're safe with gluten-free options such as gravy, curry sauce, chips, and mushy peas. They also had 2 different vegan pie options and several items on the dessert list. We chatted the whole time to one of the ladies who's worked there for over 15 years. We also chatted to the owner, and he was extremely enthusiastic about offering lots more vegan options and if there was anything we wanted, to phone 2-3 days beforehand, and they would do their best to order it in and cook it for us. Never has any restaurant/cafe offered this service before. The amount of interest they showed in veganism was amazing and went off several times to check ingredients for items they had in. They also said they were gonna get vegan custard in again and more vegan lemon cake. We left the restaurant with full tums and the knowledge we can go back and not ask a million and one questions about if something is cooked separately or if it is 100% vegan. At last, we've found our chippy chips 🙌🏽🥳💚

Absolutely amazing!! I go here when I visit my grandad and every time it has been amazing, loads of coeliac friendly food. They have gluten free vinegar as well (I didn't know that existed until I came here). Both the take out and the restaurant sections are incredible. Friendly staff, great food and lovely atmosphere. I truly recommend this to everyone especially coeliacs who are struggling to find places to eat out.

Fresh ingredients prepared daily and they only serve the best produce. One of the nicest fish chips we've ate. Menu has bit for everyone, seriously give it a go if your in the area

Staff are always lovely and serve you pretty quickly, even during busy periods. This is our chippy of choice, although on one occasion the chips were slightly undercooked (not raw, just not very browned), because every other time as been great. I especially like their home made fish cakes.

Just went on the spare of the moment and fortunate they had a table. Always have fish, chips and mushy peas when here. It has never disappointed. Visited again today (Sept 24). Still excellent 👌

Excellent food every time we go

Food was lovely and the lady who served me was equally as lovely but the man who may have been the manager (not owner) was extremely unkind to firstly a lady working in the back who came to the front of house. The way he spoke to her was nasty. He then started shouting at someone else, the atmosphere was not nice. Because of this I won’t be returning, treating staff like this is archaic, bad for business and shows a real lack of management skills. I hope the staff team see this as I want them to know it was noticed and don’t stand for it!

Green Lane Chippy . Honestly can't fault this eat in eat out restaurant . The food is just spot on , all of it is great , we've dined in several times & had take away , tasty scran very flavour full , you can't get the food in your grid fast enough to keep your taste buds satisfied , everything we've eaten is just mint . The service on the take out is fast friendly , always a queue that just disappears never wait long at all , loads of staff to get your order filled quick , hot hot hot food evertime . Love this place glad we live so close to visit often mint mint mint Chippy in Leigh , going from Leigh to Astley down Green Lane adjacent to mini roundabout quality gaff . You must try 😉

Owner screamed at a server for getting an order wrong, and made the overall atmosphere an unpleasant place. Do not support a place with such a horrible man in charge.

Gluten Free Fish & Chips!! The food is good. It's great for somewhere to go that offers GF. Lots of staff serving. The serving staff was all fabulous. The same can't be said for the 3/4 grown-up men bickering and shouting at each behind the counter. Not a good or welcoming look to customers.

Food is sometimes too salty and sometimes unfortunately too oily. When not it's great consistency needs a bit of work.

Visited here yesterday with my very elderly parents , who struggle with their mobility. One of the waiters , a lovely lad with a Liverpool accent, put a ramp out to help them , he was so funny and lovely with my parents , what a star ! The fish and chips were amazing as usual , never disappointed, just love this place !

Our first time eating in the restaurant, it definitely won’t be the last! It’s probably the best fish and chip eating establishment in Leigh and surrounding area. The staff are very polite and friendly, spotlessly clean.

First time visiting. Nice and tasty. Bit of a queue which tells me it must be good. Queue went very fast as plenty of friendly staff. Would go again.

We don't live locally but when we visit family we make sure to visit here too. The chips are the best chips ever and everytime we come they taste the same whereas chippies near us can be hit and miss! Never change! 😋

Worst fish and chips I have ever had, chips undercooked and fish was soggy, what has happened to the lovely batter and fresh fish, definitely below par! Even tried the lightly battered and that was just as soggy.

Spur of the moment decision to eat out. On arrival the restaurant was full but they found us a table after a small wait. Waiter is a really nice funny guy especially with the grandchildren. Hubby had fish and chips was amazing as always. Kids meals one sausage and chips the other was fish bites and chips the fish bites equated to a medium size fish so fantastic portion. I had a fishcake which I honestly was disappointed with but everything else was second to none.

Had a lovely lunch here today. I'm gluten free so it's great to have proper fish & chips! The food was lovely and fresh and piping hot too! Staff are friendly and attentive. Des even made me some gluten free specials to take home! Been here many times and will be back again.

Excellent fish and chips place with very fast service. Even if there's a line outside, it moves very fast. Really good prices, and the portion size of one fish is big! Happy we have the Green Lane Chippy in Leigh! My only wish is if they had some type of vegetarian or halal hotdog 😅.

Went to Green lane chippy at 3pm on the 2nd May , both my wife and I had fish chips and mushy peas. As usual the fish were excellent, but the chips were terrible, hard and obviously re-heated. This is not the first time the chips have been poor as the chip are an important part of the meal it’s not acceptable. Will be trying somewhere else next time

Best fish and chips in the Northwest. It's got to be up there with the best in the country. Great, friendly service. The fish is as fresh as it gets. Amazingly good value.

Had a takeaway. Food was amazing and the place was really clean. Really decent amount of gluten free options, even gluten free vinegar. Slightly longer wait for gluten free as its cooked to order. If you ring ahead they'll have it ready for you.

I anticipated that this traditional chippy would be good, yet it exceeded my expectations significantly. The food was excellent. The chips were tender on the inside and encased in a crisp exterior. The fish was exceptional and a generous portion. I felt compelled to sample the pea fritter and rag pudding, and both I'll be having again. The staff were friendly and engaged in conversation. The chippy presented itself as clean, orderly, and spacious, offering seating for those who might prefer dining in over take-away. Additionally, a modest car park is situated adjacent to the chippy. Overall, the experience was wonderful and comes highly recommended.
