Really bad chicken roast. The kitchen was backed up and sent out a half finished roast missing half of its trimmings. Also had to ask for some gravy and a Yorshire pudding (even these were absent of the plate in the first place). It literally looked like a (not very appealing) appetizer. Felt really bad for the waitress. She was friendly and doing her best but was on her own when there should be more people on the floor and behind the counter… And she had to deal with the clearly mediocre job of the kitchen. A real shame, the building itself is lovely.

We booked a table as a euro 2024 package to watch the England v Denmark game & were given a table where we could not see the TV. I asked the bar man if we could move & was told a flat no. There was zero effort or customer service. If they didn’t have room, they should have declined our booking & we could have gone elsewhere. The food was really average & the glass collector was rude when I tried to move seats so I could actually see the TV, told me I was blocking his way when I wasn’t. Overall really poor customer service and a grim experience. I would not recommend and won’t visit again. Definitely a pub to avoid!

I've been coming here for years but recent changes in management have been extremely disappointing. The new manager lacks basic customer service skills and is quite rude and argumentative. And with such a high turnover of bar staff I'm not surprised. I recently booked a table to watch football and when I turned up I was told I'd have to sit in a location where we couldn't watch the football. There also was not adequate seating for the number of people booked. When I raised this issue, asking if we could be moved to see the TV, the manager said no, blaming me for not specifying a table number. There was nothing on the booking form to imply I needed to do this, and also, how are people meant to memorise the table numbers at a pub? It was a really bizarre experience and a real lack of customer consideration. Clearly I'd booked via the Euros booking to watch football. I hope things change as it's a shame this place has gone downhill. The good news – we left and realised there are plenty of other places to watch the Euros with multiple TVs and generally helpful bar staff.

This is a nice pub with a mixture of ‘old east end & new kind’ it mixes well. The staff are great, friendly and good for banter. The food is.::shockingly bad! I ordered the “Famous Goose chicken burger” Now I don’t know what you might expect from a restaurants claim of ‘famous’ but I’d expect some that might at least make you want to eat it? Not the case here. £16 for a heavily breadcrumbed tiny bit of chicken (size equal to finger and thumb making a circle) on a bun that made tiny chicken look even smaller than it was. This was served with a small amount of fries (they tasted ok) I backed this dish but was not offered a refund. Offered a free drink! Overall a good pub for drinking but a not so good pub for eating.

Have had many visits to this restaurant. I was really pleased to see that they now have a more varied menu, as it’s a east end restaurant and now offer a few of the staples such as Cod as well as Haddock still awaiting my prawn cocktail, but the starters of mussels and the sauce was exceptional, would love some custard with there lovely desserts.

This place is usually so great and have loved previous experiences. Tonight was not so, meals at our table came out at random times and when we asked when the rest of our table’s meals would arrive the waitress replied “I don’t know”. Beef in the roast was over cooked and still had string in it. Chicken roast came without one of the sides, which apparently they had run out of - but not mentioned. Vegan Wellington was good! We asked for salt and pepper, which arrived, but were empty. Beers were also excellent as always. Pretty guttered, hope this is just a one off.

This is my local public house, often there and most of the time tend to use the restaurant. I have always found the menu a bit to as you would say yuppy, we do get lots of business people there, but I always write a review because I also wanted a little bit of east end type food ! Well could not believe my eyes today when I decided to have a meal. Not only was the food above excellent and the chef looked like “Russell Crowe” bonus ! The menu did have a much better selection, grilled prawns, cottage pie, and a crumble desert ! I am being a bit cheeky now, because previously mention on a review, why have only Haddock fish, and not cod or sea bass as an alternative. Thank you also to the staff so very pleasant and attentive.

Situated just round the corner from the busy Bow main thoroughfare of Roman Road, I visited this one on a recent crawl of Bow pubs and thought that they have done an excellent job of bringing this pub up to date to address the gentrification of the area but keeping the East London pub feel. The front room section with the main bar still retains an East End local vibe and is quite separate from the dining area with its open kitchen behind the bar. Then beyond this there is a very pleasant courtyard garden area. Some good craft ale options were available but I was here for the ale, and for my visit all four hand pumps were in operation with Five Points XPA and Best, which I got the impression are permanent beers and then two from Twickenham Brewery in the form of Naked Ladies and a truly excellent London Porter. With good service levels from the barmaid working the jump on this particular afternoon I really enjoyed my visit here and with the gentrified Morgan Arms and Lord Tredegar to the south, the more earthy Albert and the truly time warp Eleanor Arms a stroll to the north, there really is something for everyone in this part of Bow and Mile End.

We researched this place for Sunday Lunch after the ABBA Voyage concert .. We called the evening before to book a table It looked very pleasant and welcoming amongst the tower blocks of Bow … The decor inside was welcoming and it was full of people having a nice time. However I was ignored when waiting at the bar and had to ask a passing waitress We had a nice table and was bought a bottle of water. We then waited a while so I went up to the bar to order Our drinks and dinner came together very quickly.. We had the roast.. The beef was nice and pink but fairly tough… But both meals were covered in a thick tar like gravy which spoiled the meal We did advise the waiter

. We’ve booked for food and drinks at 8pm for 11 people. We started arriving from 8pm and around 8.30pm we were all sit at the table with our drinks and FOOD MENUS on the tables. At 8.50pm one of us went to ask for food and we’ve been informed that the kitchen was closed. I went to speak to the bartender. I’ve told her “I’m sorry but we here from 8pm and no one cared to inform us that the kitchen was closing? (At least 5 of them were working at the pub and they clearly knew that we went there to eat + also, can you not see the food menus on the table?!). The answer of the staff member was “But we cannot go to every table and tell them the kitchen is closed”. 1 - we are talking about a small pub, not a restaurant of 200 seats. 2 - you clearly knew we have booked for food and drinks 3 - we had food menus on the table. The thing the upset me most, it’s the cold response from the staff member who clearly didn’t care. She kept says “I’m sorry I understand” but she didn’t clearly care at all. I work in hospitality and if the same situation happened to me, I would be TRULY apologetic and I would at least offer something to drink. Nothing, ZERO. I’ve been to Green Goose so many times. We are all locals and we loved Green goose (it was everyone’s favourite spot for our dates too) and we were happy to celebrate our xmas with friends from West London too but the evening was ruined. But it wasn’t much ruined for the fact that the kitchen was closed, but for the emotionless approach of the bar staff who clearly didn’t care to provide a better service or truly apologise. Merry Xmas.

What’s the point to book a table for food and drinks at 8.30pm, sit down and at 8.50pm find out that kitchen was already closed? Embarrassing service. People working there couldn’t even give us an explanation why. I felt sorry for them. Dinner ruined for more than 10 people. Ever again.

Came to this pub as they were dog friendly and had the World Cup opening on. Quite disappointing. The staff were very lovely but didn’t seem to know what they were doing and food was below average. We ordered the pork belly roast and it wasn’t great. The crackling was soggy and chewy. The side of cauliflower cheese was basically cauliflower in water, it wasn’t pleasant at all. The gravy tasted like bisto (sorry). They also brought the wrong food to our table which was awkward as it looked like pork so we started eating it, then they took it away! We really wanted a dessert so we ordered the sticky toffee to share. Sauce was very thick, and sponge was not the best. Overall, I don’t think we’ll be back 🙈

Just love this pub. It’s friendly and safe and the service is excellent. The only fault I find with this pub is the menu. It’s doesn’t have a menu with at least some food so represent the area. Example Pawn cocktail or apples pie with custard. There Sunday lunch is good, it’s a bit more traditional, they always have haddock on the menu when cod, or Dover sole, or sea bass would be nice. I personally think that if they thought about the area, which is Bow, they would see far more people eating in the pub. I myself have a extremely large family who frequent this pub, but they all say the same as me, it’s too arty farte ! Just bring some stable common food onto the menu, and you may also be able to supply some takeaway foods, which would enhance your service. All in all love the atmosphere and service in this pub and would so like to use it more for eating out, and the big plus for myself and family is it’s in walking distance.
