I've been a volunteer here for 10yrs now in the woodwork where I do Pyrography and I absolutely Love this place and thd people in it. There is so much history here its a great place to visit.

I received an afternoon tea voucher for my birthday for coffee saints. It’s one of the best afternoon tea’s I’ve enjoyed in a while. Great selection of food, cakes and scones with fresh cream and jam. Coffee was incredible. Really friendly staff. Would thoroughly There was lots of food on offer for breakfast and lunches too. I certainly will be back and have no hesitation in recommending this venue.

A magnificent place, an oasis and a living utopia. The offerings are plentiful and delicious, and the staff are friendly and motivated.

Ate here a few weeks ago. The staff were so friendly. It was spotlessly clean. They are super allergen friendly even having a separate display case for gluten free cakes. The food and coffees were so nice. Really enjoyed my experience here and would highly recommend!

Hello, I am Mariano Pereda from Uruguay. I was in that cafe these days and I loved it. They treated me very well. I was able to speak in Spanish since the girl speaks two languages. I had a spectacular soup. Thank you Marina for making me feel so comfortable being so far from home I recommend the cafe and talk to Marina she is a genius

I attended an Elvis tribute here last Friday. Great venue and staff were delightful. We had a two course meal with a glass of fizz on arrival and wine with the meal.. Would definitely recommend and would not hesitate to go back again. Paul Thorpe ( Elvis ) was amazing as usual.. Very good value for £40.

Me and my partner went to Love Letters event 14th Feb . We had a fabulous time. The staff, Gail and all others, were attentive and welcoming. The night itself was so well organised and the venue was brilliant. Clean, spacious and relaxed, we had a great night and will look for further events at this venue.

Had lunch (soup, sandwiches, paninis and tray bakes) with tea and coffee. Staff were really friendly and helpfully got us a larger table for our group. Quick service, tasty food, reasonably priced, and lovely space to sit in. Definitely recommend.

Easily the best cafe is Edinburgh! Not only are the staff delightful, the coffee perfection, and the scran top notch, but the cause that they are working towards is one of the most heartwarming and vital that i’ve seen in our city. I had a smashing cappuccino and scone the other day, and I couldn’t be prouder to support this place. The best spot in town.

Nice place in the city centre. The cafe is part of GCP - Grassmarket comunity projeck which is a local charity. I've been here twice and each time there was only one member of staff at the bar, so you may be kept waiting for a little while, but it's worth it. You'll get great food and drinks and support a local project.

I was there for an event on Scottish Housing Strategy. I was on crutches at ease of getting around toilets, and being easily accessible the staff member was very helpful. I didn't know this was here, so I may pop in again.

Such a nice initiative an such a pity the coffee is served in disposable cups with plastic lids even if you eat in. It would be great if you could be a bit more eco-friendly and use the mugs you have next to the coffee machine.

Amazing breakfast and good coffee. The vegan sausages were the best I ever had. The staff is super nice and caring and it's a great place to spend time. And the fact, that it's a social enterprise makes it even better. I totally recommend this place!

We had breakfast here on December 12th and it was really nice. I had toasts with scrambled eggs, spinac, cherry tomatoes and bacon and a glass of orange juice and in total it was like 11 pounds. The guy at the counter was really nice and if you are helping a community project as well, I think it's a good spot!

The café is located in a community center supporting vulnerable groups - you will eat and drink in a super-cozy environment, with extra friendly staff, at reasonable prices and in the meanwhile you will support a valuable social initiative. What else can you ask for?

Fair prices and good drinks for a good cause

Have heard good things about cafe. Charity I volunteer with uses other venue of this cafe. Went for lunch with my 2 teenagers. My sons loved it, liked that we able to help people by eating!! Loads of space to sit. Have nut allergy and mixture of meat eater (one son) and other and me are vegetarian. Opted for toasties 9cheese, onion and tomato), which come with salad and fries & tap water and other son went for American breakfast ( 2 bacon slices, 2 pancakes, maple syrup, 2 fried eggs, 2 hash browns) arrived hot and ginger beer. Food served quickly and hot was really nice. really light due to all windows and quiet despite busy and just off grassmarket. Staff really friendly and helpful too. We are locals anyway and will definitely be back.

We visited twice during our holiday. Great service, good choice on the menu and lovely, friendly staff who took good care of us. Everything is clean and tidy. Comfy sofas and chairs. First visit we had tea and cake, which was spot on. Second visit we had a full breakfast and pancakes, both were fantastic. A great place to relax.

My cousin and her husband and children had a birthday party here and it was most enjoyable. The staff were brilliant and the food and drink were excellent. A great night was had by all.

What a fantastic place. Gorgeous cafe right in the Grassmarket. Accessible, lovely bright open space, proper tea and fabulous cakes. AND it's a community support project and your cake pays for people to learn and develop their skills. Perfect.

Lo conocimos durante el descanso de un tour y volvimos en un par de oportunidades. Los precios son accesibles para lo que se paga en la zona y permiten que incluso sin consumir pases al baño. Pudimos cargar el celular también. Y eso se suma la obra comunitaria que hacen. Recomiendo.

After being caught in a dreadful deluge, we sought refuge here. They serve fabulous coffee and are super friendly.

I hand’t been Into the Grassmarket for a while, but today I came out of a Fringe show at 11.30am desperate for coffee, and realised I was just around the corner from this fantastic centre. Excellent coffee, delicious scones and very friendly service. Th other cakes - lemon drizzle, etc - also looked very good. The extra tables in the conference room at the back mean that seating is not a problem, even though the cafe is sometimes used as a meeting point for people going on tours. The Grassmarket Project does outstanding work and offers people support, friendship, activities, and, where appropriate, training and a way back into employment. It also has many excellent volunteers. The cafe goes from strength to strength and is well worth a visit.

I were here for a Fringe-event. Clean rooms. The staff seemed friendly. The bathroom had Free hygiene products for women. Overall a really nice experiance!

Excellent place, people are very friendly. The cafe shop that is inside is amazing, they have good price and the food is good. The customer service is the best, however sometimes could be very busy, due that a free walking tour company stop there for few minutes several times during the day. In that place you can find different activities that support the community to acquire new skills and socialize with other. It is good place and definitely they are doing an excellent job.

Discovered this the other day whilst attending book launch. Great coffee and super cakes, basically all that you need to sustain life! Staff were helpful and friendly and this is firmly anchored in the community, so pop in and support a place that works hard and gives back

We took breakfast here pretty much every day we were in Edinburgh. Excellent (and reasonably priced) oatmeal ("porridge"), eggs, toast, coffee etc. It's located in a community center that's set back from the street and really worth a visit. The Grassmarket Cafe doesn't open until 9AM but that was fine for our schedule.

Delicious soups and pastries at a very reasonable price. Free wifi, bathroom, and a place to rest weary feet. A great mission to support!

Was my first time there yesterday and the place is very welcoming and there are lots to do if you like to do thing's that get you out the house and can meet lots of people and help with a range of stuff you sould pop in and see for your self qnd you can get a meal on a Monday night

This place is only a social enterprise when it suits them .I was refused something to eat today at 1 despite having breakfast there yesterday which was last thing I eat .

This is a clean little cafe that does a lovely cheap breakfast dining here helps the local community and helps the homeless, you can pay a £5 gift voucher on so people can come in and get something to eat. Would definitely recommend a visit.

This is a community cafe, it serves nice coffee and we took a break here from the walking tour. It is reasonable priced and considering that it gives something back to the community, it is worth have a tea, coffee and cake rather than go to a chain brand.

Great cafe - food and drink good, reasonably priced, pleasant space, busy (the walking trips stop there) but adequate room. The philosophy is to support homeless people in Edinburgh and profits are put towards trying to get people off the streets permanently. So good fare for a good cause. We found lots of homeless in Edinburgh and were frequently approached (very politely) for money. The cafe offers an opportunity to buy a meal ‘voucher’ for a homeless person where they can get a meal and access the support there. Irrespective of their mission, this is a very nice cafe, smart, contemporary, spaces inside and out. Recommended.

El capuccino que tomé estaba riquísimo, las personas que atendían fueron muy amables y las instalaciones son lindas y limpias. Además, mientras tomás tu café podés informarte sobre sus actividades y ver cómo ayudan a la comunidad. Llevo más de 10 años trabajando en ONG´s y personalmente me sentí muy contenta de encontrar un lugar así en medio de mis vacaciones.

We found this little gem while trying to escape from the streets brimming with festival visitors. A great initiative, where proceeds go to people who need a little extra support. Affordable and tasty basic food and drinks. A great little hide away!

We stumbled upon the Grassmarket Cafe while wandering around on our first evening in Edinburgh and decided to return the following morning. The posted prices outside of the cafe were very good and we expected It to be a crowded and busy place...not so. We had a delicious full breakfast for a reasonable price and to discover that the center provides support and programs for community members made it a very special place!
