Tried it for the first time today. We had 2 takeaway Cofty Wraps Which we very filling and lovely too. Price was amazing and £7.50 intotal for 2 Definitely will be using again. Might have the breakfast on Saturday Best regards Jeff

So happy this place is back- there’s nowhere like it in Swansea. Lovely relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff with same chefs cooking up specials each day. The counter service means you can have a quick lunch on a work day but comfy chairs mean you can relax if you have the time. New range of yoga classes available upstairs as well as the temple and bookshop.

So a friend and I visited the newly refurbished Grovidas cafe today having been regular visitors and huge fans of the place in the past. We were both very disappointed to see from the minute we walked through the door the place had lost the unique charm we and many others had been so fond of. Gone with all the cultural style paintings and books that lined the walls and comfy quirky sofas, and even the small shop that added a nice touch to the place to be replaced with a minimalistic almost cold look and back was the cafeteria style service. What had been added however was a few extra £'s. Not dramatically so I suppose but no longer is this a nice "cheap" place to go for lunch yet neither a place to go for a "romantic" meal which leaves me do wonder what niche the owner/s of Grovindas are attempting to fall into. It is no longer enough to just be a vegan or vegetarian restaurant these days surely? The food itself was good, though the variation of the special wasn't spectacular taste wise, though as this varies day to day this could just be a day where the dishes didn't particularly appeal to me. Again, I am truly gutted to have lost one of my all time favourite restaurants. Although I will say, the service as always was great. Always welcoming and very friendly.

Didn't think they could live up to Govindas but they have done. Had to go back the very next day for the same again 😄. Only constructive feedback I'd give would be maybe do hot drinks too 👍🏽🍵 We will be back soon regardless

Superb vegetarian/vegan restaurant , everything home cooked , delicious and nutritious , polite and friendly service .

Good price for the portion size but very carb heavy - rice, potatoes, lentils and more potatoes. It was a little bland and only warm, hopefully this won’t affect us later as rice should be piping hot. Loved all the little extras they had for sale there though, especially the great range of organic teas.

Govindas is quite a simple, cafe-like establishment, but the food is outstanding and incredibly good value for money. Everything on the menu is either vegetarian or vegan, but speaking as a carnivore it's still very tasty.

Gem of a place of Swansea. Hands down there is no better place to eat than Govindas. Vegetarian and Vegan place that is cooked with love. Supports local charity projects too. We'll worth just eating here. And a really lovely temple upstairs too. Atmosphere was amazing and its ora. Service was brilliant too. Would highly recommend.

Very affordable delicious vegetarian food. Their spicy chips are the best chips I've ever tasted. I highly recommend this restaurant, possibly my favourite in Swansea. Even if you're not a vegetarian.

Wholesome and filling food in a quaint setting. All vegetarian as well. Had the all you can eat set and went through 4 plates. Needless to say, you'll get your moneys worth and never leave hungry.

First visit and stayed very simple had the nut burgers. Good food really tasty and filling just a real pity about the environment. Really needs some refurb scratches across walls lighting good enough to light a football match not really either relaxing or gentle. I know it is vegetarian and vegan but that doesn't mean it needs to be lacing good vibes. Please owners pull your fingers out and pay some attention to your customers comfort. You are nearly there with great food just go the extra mile.

Town centre restaurant -simple but authentic vegetarian. Quick service -just right for a lunch. Try the classic.

Our son was given the choice of where to go for a Birthday Lunch and chose Govinda's because he's a vegetarian.Whilst I'm a card carrying carnivore I thought it would be interesting to see what they could come up with and as a family we were blown away.The surroundings are a little basic but that doesn't detract from the overall experience - service was very friendly and efficient with checks on dairy content with some items as my son had chosen a vegan option for main and they didn't want to offer him something dairy based without checking first.My bhaji wrap with spicy chips (certainly lived up to that description) came as a huge plateful and I instantly regretted ordering the Dhal soup! Similarly the Seitan burger my son ordered and my wife's thali were equally generously proportioned.Most importantly they were delicious - I couldn't fault a single element of the meal. All in all the meal represented exceptional value - 3 of us stuffed full of tasty food and Lassis and all for under £30! We will definitely be going back soon.

I was fortunate to be able to visit temple and meet people there on 25th Aug. We feel at home by very caring members and participated in arati, then enjoyed prasaadam in Govinda's cafe. Fantastic, concept. We wanted to visit again today but could not find a parking at right time and had to rush back to Basingstoke in evening. We'll look forward to visit again there.

Amazing vegetarian food! We have been twice to the restaurant with the family and the food is delicious and service wonderful. We will be back shortly when we’re in Swansea again.

Chose to go here with my fiance for lunch for my birthday in June. He's been before and I always wanted to go but always tempted by other, newer places. It's not the best looking place inside but that didn't put me off. The menu is good, I was excited to order the double seitan burger with vegan cheese and it was really delicious. My other half ordered the Govinda special. I had a ginger flavoured Kombucha and we shared a slice of vegan cheesecake for dessert. This is the only thing we were disappointed with. We attacked it from both sides and were surprised to find that every spoonful was a different temperature ranging from cold-ish to really warm! I'm guessing it should have been properly chilled, but we thought it must've been waiting around a bit on the kitchen counter. The guy who served us seemed nice enough, but hardly made any eye contact, wasn't rude, I'm thinking maybe very shy? I was excited to see the fridge stocked with kombucha, purdeys and all nice stuff and there's lots of different boxes of teas to buy, incense sticks, etc. I will be going back, but will give dessert a miss.

Our daughter has recently become a vegetarian so when we had a short break to Swansea she decided that we must give Govinda's a visit. We arrived when it opened and we were pleased we did as it soon filled up I would say that booking is a must. My husband and I had the Bhajji Wrap together with some chips. The bhajji's were beautiful and the chutney delicious, the chips were just standard chips but the homemade tomato ketchup was great. Our daughter opted for a seitan burger which she thoroughly enjoyed and would definitely recommend. The staff were lovely, the food arrived hot and there was no pressure to vacate the table even though they were very busy. A good find with plenty to offer whether you are vegan/vegetarian or not!!!

It’s not the most sophisticated of venues but it does serve healthy Indian vegetarian fare with vegan options. Be aware portions are large and prices are reasonable. This place is a not for profit group and appears to be the local quarters for the Hare Krishna community. Though no one would try to convert you although they are open to talking about their faith.

Relaxed atmosphere, don't go here if you're in a rush. The food is very tasty and excellent value. The staff never rush you and are always pleasant and helpful. I would say if your vegan this is probably the best place to eat if your on a tight budget.

Always good food and service ! At excellent prices, made with love ! I first visited Govindas, with my youngest son about 20 years ago. It has changed in many ways since, but still offers a wonderful service.

Went to this cafe with husband and children. Children loved it they had Kofta wrap. Husband had Seitan Chilli burger and I had one of the signature Indian dishes. All the food was delicious and we really enjoyed. The only disappointment was the chips which were what you might get in any cafe and not special at all.

After deliberating I finally went to Govinda's for lunch and I was so glad I did. I'm not vegetarian and am quite a fussy eater however the staff were very helpful and recommended a delicious and filling main for me. It was beautifully spiced and the chapti was wonderful. I also when for bhajis which were really nice. It was a lovely experience and I really enjoyed the lassi drink too, one of the best I've had.

I was looking forward to trying food from this restaurant having heard good things about it however I was utterly disappointed by the quality of the food.

It's a delightful restaurant, run by Krishna monks. Food is tasty, try the Govinda's Special. It also serves some excellent drinks, have a look in their fridge. What to say, it's a Swansea landmark of vegetarian food. I go often there with family and groups and was never disappointed.

Unlike the 80’s and 90’s when almost all restaurants only had one vegetarian option (if that)? Vegetarian food is now more popular than ever. Yet it is still amazes me that many places still don’t really see the potential of serving quality vegetarian dishes. I was delighted to find that Govinda’s absolutely do. Their food is amazing, their service is friendly, relaxed and very efficient and their prices are very reasonable. I would highly recommend Govinda’s for somewhere to eat real vegetarian food that isn’t restricted to pizza or the chef’s veggie special.

My girlfriend and I have been Govindas regulars for over a year now. Our first experience was from the Christmas menu...if you get a chance, order the nut roast dinner! It was beautiful! Be warned though, there is limited seating so to avoid disappointment I’d maybe book a table.

J’ai commandé un cheeseburger végétarien, c’était délicieux. Accompagné d’une généreuse portion de frites et de ketchup maison, je me suis régalée. Toutefois le service a été un peu long car il n’y avait qu’une seule serveuse qui s’occupait aussi de la caisse, les frites n’étaient plus très chaudes en arrivant. Sinon l’ambiance du restaurant est très sympa, dans le thème indien / zen. En bref j’ai très bien mangé et j’y retournerai avec plaisir.

I have been to Govinda’s many times and have always been impressed with it previously. This afternoon, however, two of us waited 38 minutes between our order and service for a Govindas’s special (which should hardly surprise the kitchen and is basically plating up pre-prepared options).

I visit Govindas almost every week on my day off. I love the food, it's fantastic value and the staff are lovely.

Excellent place if you are vegetarian and vegan. Food is tasty healthy and good value. Even better to go after 3 and have the all you can eat.

Now that Jimmy's has closed, I looked for another place to eat in Swansea. I found the delightful Govinda's , it is a small quiet and is a not for profit restaurant. There is a background of Indian music played, the food is vegetarian and vegan and all reasonably priced.

We had heard good comments about Govinda's and were really looking forward to this meal. BUT! And it's a big BUT! It was really bad. To be honest it had no redeeming features. We ordered a starter and a main, but without explanation they arrived togeather! It is really difficult to describe what arrived, the only certainty was that the starter and the main were identical! Togeather, it turned into a sort of school dinnetish peppery mush that I wouldn't have served to my dog! We have a ranking order that we keep for the top ten worst meals we have ever eaten - this came in very near to the top!

Visited this charity-based restaurant for lunch. Surprisingly busy! The food was excellent - vegan, nutritious, served at a good temperature in basic but clean surroundings.

What an experience. A calm, inviting atmosphere inside with subtle ambient music played in the background. The food portions were excellent, and well priced. Most importantly was the taste. A true flavour sensation.

This place has been my favourite for a long time! The food is always exceptionally tasty, a must try is the Special - Available vegan, vegetarian or half and half. The cheesecake is famously great and the service is always friendly. The atmosphere is serene and you'll leave with full bellies!

Just to agree with everyone else, I loved this restaurant, it has a great menu (I had the chilli cheeseburger and chips, which was delicious) and a really nice, laid-back vibe.

Lovely and casual - the food here is always tasty, the portions are plenty, but healthy enough that you don't feel bad afterwards - particularly the special, where you get a bit of everything. The more indulgent stuff is good too, and the vegan cheesecake is one of the few my gf and I have tried that we both liked. Friendly staff and good value - the lassi (vegan and non vegan) is nice to have with a meal.

Govindas is run by the local Hare Krishna group and as you might expect, the service you receive is incredibly friendly. The menu is a mix of veggie/vegan burgers and curry-based dishes. Anything you pick will be good value, tasty and with decent size portions. Great range of drinks, including Kombucha, which you find hardly anywhere. Small selection of ethical household and confectionery products by the till area, some of which are great value.

Really friendly cool restaurant,,the food is super tasty and healthy,,lots of choice and big portions,,,the staff are attentive and friendly,,without being overbearing,,so much so you almost feel like you're talking to someone you know rather than a waitress/waiter,,,the atmosphere is laid back and unhurried,,nice ethnic mood music and spotlessly clean,,,Oh yeah,,and the value is unbelievable,,we had the all you can eat buffet for less than a fiver,,,need i say more,,,All in all a thoroughly pleasant afternoons eating,,thanks a lot

My Mum and I have been eating here for years. The food is always hot tasty filling and healthy. It's the best spot for a vegetarian meal in Swansea. The twins who work there are also cheerful and offer great service. It's actually my favourite spot for a bite to eat in Swansea. Great cake, too! :D

Friendly welcome and quick service. Lots of variety on the menu and advice given on ingredients used. Caters for all tastes and has the most amazing home made tomato ketchup. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable here. One of our favourite lunch venues which we will visit again and again.

Visited this place upon recomendation, the menu is entirely vegitarian and vegan (if you are a meat eater as I am don't let that out you off). The food is Indian themed, absolutely bursting with flavor, and plenty of it.All the staff were great. What makes this place extra special is that it is a "not for profit charity" raising money for local people who are either homeless or struggling.If you want to try something different then this place is a must go....fabulous place

The food, is just amazing. So delicious. The prices match! So, so reasonable!! You get an amazing portion for the price - £8.45 for the deluxe burger meal deal which consists of home made burger and homemade chips, bottled drink AND dessert...it was truly delicious.

This is a small little venue with big taste. The staff are always helpful and patient, despite probably having to explain to newbies such as myself what each dish consists of. The dishes are always fresh and different. Admittedly we had to wait some time for our food, but the delicious dish was worth the wait. The value is exceptional.

Lovely lunch here, in this small busy restaurant in central Swansea. Lots of choice and such good value. Really tasty salad and pasta dishes, and the chips are exactly right. Would definitely recommend and certainly will be visiting again.

This lovely little vegetarian cafe/restaurant is one of our favourite places to eat in Swansea centre. The staff are always friendly as you would expect. The menu has expanded giving more choice than before, and the wonderful shakes are worth the visit alone.

Ate here with my husband on a Saturday lunchtime. The food was tasty, filling, plentiful and very good value for money.The restaurant appears to be very popular with university students.

We arrived very hungry and was presented with a menu.We went for the Govinda special.I could not believe how delicious it was.We ordered it twice and ate it all.We also ordered Dahl soup which was also fantastic.All you meat lovers out there.Try it because you would never miss meat again.My husband who is a big meat eater,said if he had food like this everyday,he would never eat meat.Please try it.Very reasonable prices..Cannot wait to return .

I started visiting just a few weeks ago and already I'm addicted! I love the Govindas special (a mix of some of their best dishes) and can rarely finish it all, but its so delicious! The lentil Dahl is so tasty, and the pakoras are crispy and light, and vegetables never tasted so good! I go with my gluten free, vegetarian, picky husband, and he loves it and there is plenty for him to eat and enjoy. Love it!!

govinda's is my first indian restaurant. I ordered classic 3 course meal including govinda's special, lassi, brownie. first taste is not bad. actually, I'm not used to foreign spices so I couldn't eat everything in my dish. brownie looks like deep chocolate cake but delicious. lassi was also good. If you're not used to spices, ask to staff before you order.

Last day of our holiday and we desperately wanted to eat out somewhere so we took a trip to Swansea and visited this place due to its tasty looking menu.The food was full of flavour and having a vegan option for nearly every dish showed us how much the chefs care for for their customers. If you ever decide to open a shop in Sussex you'll have three regular customers coming for your vegan cheesecake :) :) :)

Couldn't decide what to have so went for a platter as it a mix of a few items to try. Heaven on a platter - it was wonderful. The flavours were fab the dishes worked well together and so filling. Really enjoyed it. We have been before as my daughter (12) is a vegetarian and we try to ensure she tries different things. My eldest was keen on going but came along. She sampled all my little dishes and actually said she may order that next time! I think that is worth 5 stars.

Govinda's is the restaurant I just keep returning to again and again. They have a wonderful selection of delicious food suitable for vegetarians and vegans.I highly recommend the Govinda's special. However, everything I have tried in the menu so far has been great.The staff are so warm, attentive and friendly and really can't do enough for customers.There is also a range of frozen take out food which I have sampled and enjoyed very much. I find them useful to take to work when I am too bust to make anything.The quality of the food for the value for money is a bonus. I would recommend this lovely restaurant to all.

I'm a super fussy eater but the food is so good here, I find myself trying new foods and enjoying them.The staff are amazing, so friendly, and helpful. The atmosphere is relaxed and calming. We had a delicious meal at Govinda's. We'd previously been to Govinda's in London and found out that this was part of the same charitable organisation. It was down a little side street off Kingsway. The road itself is a little run down but once through the door of Govinda's it was like going into another world. Lovely atmosphere and warm and friendly staff. The food was simply scrumptious. I could have eaten it twice over.

Where to start. What a lovely little gem of a place in one of the side streets of Swansea. Being a vegan I don't usually get much choice of meals but wow.The service is great, very pleasant and polite people working here. The food is beautiful, I've tried quite a few of the various vegan dishes here and they are superb. All of the dishes I've tasted have been delicately spiced with Indian flavours and they are amazing. A good portion so left here satisfied every time. Good value for money too.Can't wait for my next visit.

This little establishment is tucked away yards away from The Kingsway Swansea. It provides a calm relaxing place away from the busy centre. Run for non profit it serves up the most delicious and inventive Indian vegetarian menu to serve all tastes at a very reasonable price. Their home made chips are delicious! There is also a shop at the front entrance. Parking may prove difficult on this road but there is parking opposite the Grand Theatre and in the multi-storey in the Kingsway. Try it and see how good it is.

Amazing food. We shared a started...yummy. Burgers as a main. Mr had a larger version of starter as main. And lush preordered birthday chocolate cake as pudding.

A calm comfortable place to eat. Vegetarian with vegan and gluten free options. Very good prices with an all you can eat option. It's also a not for profit charity and above is a Krishna temple with Kirtans many times each week.

I was lucky enough to find Govinda's during my first year at Swansea University. Lovely, wholesome vegetarian and vegan food served promptly by friendly staff. The food is very good value for money with large portions and is delicious! Even if you are not a vegetarian or vegan I defy you to find something you won't enjoy. Also Govinda's is a not for profit charity venture!

I ate here twice last week. Consistently great food, lovely service and restorative atmosphere. Govindas has vegan and veggie options with a brilliant selection of teas. There are takeaway and eat at home options. If you're looking for a quiet space for a relaxing lunch Govinda's is the place for you.

We live in Swansea & I enjoy the fabFresh food so much that I try to make it at least a weekly visit. Lovely calm atmosphere & gentle kind staff serving the most delicious daily special:) if you go between 3:30 & 6 you are eligible for the £4.95 all you can eat special & you will be offered a second helping of the fab food. :)

Excellent vegan and vegetarian food nice atmosphere. ...kids loved it food not too spiced for them which is a bonus background music appears to be selected from the local Crystal and Wellbeing shop top ten however I've been a few times and no whale song as yet :-) Nice clean tidy with tasty Indian style food and good service all very reasonably priced ..... bottom line who cares if they do put whale song on !!
