Gourmet Burger Kitchen in Thurrock

The food was good. Since we were in hurry we went to the till and paid. But the lady at the till didn't give the bill. She just told me the amount and added to the card reader. I just tapped my card and paid. When I reached home I realised that she cheated me by overcharging more than £10. My advice to the customers, please check your bill before paying. I can't complain about the food. It was delicious.

Had lunch there whilst shopping on Sunday. Was surprised it wasn't busier. Had 1 chicken and 2 beef. We shared loaded fruits and onion rings. Good service and lovely meal

A couple of burgers ... one chicken and the other beef. Both were tasty if a bit expensive. The no bun option was a nice touch. Generally quite a decent atmosphere, staff seem quite switched on etc. friendly and efficient. Please correct your reciepts - it clearly shows that you add a service charge (which is listed as optional but this option is certainly not given to decline by the staff) it then says below this that service is not included ... so what is the 10% service charge for??? - I'm all for a tip, if good service or if need be a service charge but definately not both!

The atmosphere was fantastic but the staff and food was horrible. The staff got our order completely wrong and put this weird spice on our chips. The person we had threw our food onto the table and then left us.

Visited on Good Friday whilst shopping. My daughter wanted to come here, so we did. We didn't realise that until we sat down, that they had an offer, burger, chips and a drink for £9. We ordered four meals and a portion of onion rings. Food and service was good.

First visit to the restaurant and very impressed, food and service first class. Burger cooked to perfection, nothing too much trouble for the staff. Lovely clean restaurant. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

Saw an offer on billboard outside, so thought we’d give it a try. Offer was burger, chips and drink for £9.00. On arrival told that Gluten free option was not included, but waiter went away and checked and it was allowed. So far, so good. 👍🏻 Should have checked about my wife’s order though, as that included a £2.00 surcharge for a plant based burger, so read the small point! Waiter did Not mention this. Wife’s burger was fine, mine not so good. Ordered beef with cheese, and even though I could not have chips (cooked with other gluten containing items, and didn’t want any salad, they still charged me £1.80 for the smallest, thinnest slice of cheeses I’ve ever seen! Also, waiter had to check twice with me about my order, a simple Gluten Free burger with cheese. It still came with lettuce and tomato which I didn’t want, and was shown as such on my actual check order! My wife’s burger arrived 5 minutes before mine, so we watched each other eat. Not the best experience, and one I will not be repeating.

Great Food and Service. Well cooked food which was served quickly. The only thing I could say could be improved was that the children’s menu said that the meal came with cucumber and carrot crudités. This turned out to be one small piece of each hidden under the chips. Also slightly disappointed that no milkshakes were available.

As far as GBK goes, this branch is definitely...one of them. The service was fine and the food was nice enough, and though I wouldn’t avoid it, I probably won’t visit here again.

First time at GBK, never have I had a chicken burger where three full bites contained no chicken, its as if the popped a chicken nugget on it and fired it out the kitchen. Really disappointed, specially fir a £10 item.

Very poor and slow service all the staff were chatting around the main tills. Asked for bill and I think the manager just forgot and was too busy on her phone texting I haven’t been to GBK for ages and won’t be returning

Nice food and drink and reasonable service. Loaded burger must of derailed shed its load somewhere as it was small, child like portion. The biggest issue was the cost - very very expensive, it is only Lakyside in Grays, not the west end!

This GBK used to be really good, but now I wouldn’t recommend, they change opening times without notice takes ages to get the food and I feel like the food quality has gone down hill. Also, they have changed the menu and failed to notify me the elderflower drinks are no longer refillable, until I had already paid.

I had a cheese burger and hubby had the blue cheese burger. Both were cooked to our liking and very tasty. Skinny fries and skin on chips were really good too. Staff are very courteous and efficient. Only gripe for me was that there were a member of staff laying down across a seating area, feet up on his phone the entire time we were there. Just looked sloppy and unprofessional imo.

Finally went to the gourmet burger restaurant.Walkedcpast many times but went in this time very good service great food great and would highly recommend.Only small gripe why don't they put the price of fries and the burger together rather than sesperate.But apart from that great.

After two poor experiences this evening elsewhere, we were pleased to arrive here and be seated with no rudeness and no hassle. Great friendly staff. Had a lovely meal. Nothing to fault. Thoroughly recommend!! Thanks for a lovely evening.

Love gbk, always order a small vegan burger and different fries but my favourite is the dip selection they are the best. Blue cheese and garlic mayo are the best! Staff aren’t always the most attentive but they are always polite!

It was my first experience of GBK and probably my last, not really a place i like, but my daughter loves it, food was OK nothing special for the price. It was very busy, so we had no cutlery on the table, did feel sorry for waitress as she seemed to be on her own trying to seat everyone and serve the food.

We always eat here when shopping because the burgers are really good. You have to order at the counter and pay then the drinks and food are brought to the table. Today the service was friendly and good. Our burgers were really tasty. It's a little expensive but it is worth it. If you want a boring pappy burger go elsewhere!

Went with husband and daughter .. I had the child's burger , great value , burger , fries and a small coke which for £6.50 was great value. Me and my other half and his family come here I haven’t been for ages, I am allergic to peanut butter, I didn’t get by the lady who took us to the table, I went to say it she walked off, the burger was horrible soggy bottom, meat tasted like , another customer comes in and sits down and I have a peanut butter allergy she asks her about it, but don’t know how many times I going ask I got blanked, I had a min allergic reaction I don’t carry a ei-pen with me ever I can’t get one, it’s over priced for what it is and Taste horrible as well, for 7 of us one then was a child it was overpriced sorry I won’t be returning, the onion rings are something else they are spicy

No one checked half way through our meal to see how we was doing, all the mayonnaise were empty aswell as the ketchup on our table, burgers were over priced and mediocre overall not very enjoyable. The sweet potato fries were very nice and the baconaise was amazing

Fancied a burger as a treat and boy did we get a one. Delicious juicy burger in a nice bun. The skinniest fries I’ve ever eaten but crispy and good taste. We had ice cream to follow. Two bottles of beer and a water approx £36. Nice surroundings, pleasant staff and good music playing. Oh lovely and air conditioned, cool not freezing though. We both said best burger we’ve ever eaten so we will return.

Food was lovely and so were the waitress. The food is very very expensive for burger and chips. £42.00 for two burger and chips and two drinks. A RIP off. The manager of this restaurant is very rude and needs to go on a customer service course. I asked for tap water and he said tap water is on the side. Yes bottles of water were sitting on the side but how was I suppose to know you can just help yourself. We wasn't notified of this when the order was placed with him. Rude man. Wouldn't return because it's far too expensive.

The skin on fries had a weird taste like the oil needed changing, the miserable bloke who bought our drinks & food to our table just put it down, I know you might think that’s what he’s supposed to do, but there was no asking who ordered what and giving to them if they makes sense? he done the same to other diners as well.

I mean, the burger was lovely, juicy and cooked how i like it (at my request) but i expected a lot more of a bigger burger and portion of fries than what was given to us. I left not full and £40 down! I'm not 100% sure i would return. Nice food - but 10000000% overpriced.

Starters of halloumi cheese and chicken wings were fabulous. Mains of classic cheeseburger and blue cheese burger were delicious and cooked to perfection! Staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.

A lot of things are wrong with this restaurant chain. The special board was not visible from our seat and it was not mentioned. It says you can get a classic burger, drink and chips for £9.95. We instead paid £15 each, with no chips, for a drink and burger. No-one mentioned this offer at any point.The fact the burger doesn't come with chips isn't great, either. Most places for the same price offer chips with it, and better chips at that. The burger itself however was moderately pleasant.Lastly, having to order from the till means I am not going to tip - I am doing half the leg work. Come to my table, like the people who deliver the food, then I'll pay the service charge.Probably won't return.

Not been to GBK in awhile, what a lovely surprise. Service was good, Deco was good, Staff very helpful and food was amazing, the Lamb burger was brilliant and we loved the skinny fries. My daughter loved her Double Belgian Chocolate shake. Will definitely be back.

A very decent branch of GBK - quick and pleasant service, nice decor. Didn't check the bogs so can't comment on those but wife didn't say anything so I expect they were unremarkable. If you've been to a GBK before then you'll know what to expect and won't be disappointed. I like the food here, but prices are creeping up and what once felt like a good value meal nowadays feels like the value is a bit of a stretch. Ok, with the GBK app you get the odd freebie chucked in which makes the pricing just about tolerable, but if you don't have the app and therefore are paying full price for everything, I would say it would be expensive for what it is.

Very relaxed, i love it because im not keen on burgers and only eat chicken. What a fab chicken burger it is coated in panko crumbs. The onion rings are the best!

What a huge disappointment, GBK!!!!! What have you done to your fries????? No more Straw skinny fries??? I can’t believe it, yes your burgers are to die for but the straw tats made the meal. Bring back the straw potatoes!!!!Ps, Special was the Lamb Indian burger but this was unavailable and TBH, the Habernero Jam seems to have changed also, and not for the better, too claggy and lacking in flavour.

One of our favourite places for a burger, GBK never fails to deliver. The food is consistently spot on, the tables spotless and the service quick and efficient. The choice of burgers is great and our 8yr old son regularly asks to go here rather than to the fast food burger chains..especially because he says the vanilla shakes are just too good and he gets free peanuts. I like that we can have a beer and a burger in an informal setting any time of the year and know the food we are getting is good quality and value for money. We particularly like this branch because of the setting, near the shops by the lake on the boardwalk. Highly recommend eating here. If you haven’t yet then download the GBK app and earn rewards. You can also now order from your table if the queue at the tills is a bit too much to face after a busy days shopping.

For my first time visiting GBK, I was impressed with the food. Their gluten free menu is extensive and the quality of their gf alternatives are brilliant. The quality of all the food was high. However the service my boyfriend and I received let the experience down massively. When we arrived, the table wasn’t set so we had to stand and wait next to the table watching the waiter set it (granted this is due to low staff levels therefore not his fault), this was followed by a long wait queuing to order food as they only had one staff member on the tills. Eventually another staff member, seemingly a senior member of staff went on the tills to decrease the growing queue. The service I received from her was appalling; I felt rushed as if she could not be bothered to hear my order, met with brash responses and no eye contact as well as an overall rude manner. The tap water facilities were broken but she brushed us away with her hand when we asked her where we could get some tap water and we had to walk around hunting down a waiter. The food was lovely once it arrived, however the overall customer service experience did disappoint.

Have been many times before, my daughter had a birthday party there some years ago, it has always been very good. Not yesterday Sunday 14th October 2018. To start with the table was sticky, can happen anywhere. Then the toilet had no soap, happens. Ordered food Gluten free they have a separate Gluten free menu and was quizzed about my Gluten intolerance, was I Celiac, I'm intolerant come out in a rash, have stomach pains and nausea. Why the inquisition are you not going to take it as seriously, it is still unpleasant to say the least. Daughter ordered Chicken burger no mayo or relish.So the starter arrives and the sauce has a skin, wont be eating that. My daughters food arrives and has both mayo and relish, take it back. Within a minute she gets what is supposed to be a replacement, but still has remnants of the mayo and or relish they tried to scrape off. Saw the Manager I believe, she apologised and got my daughter another one. Asked my daughter 4 times if she wanted anything else she did not, manager apologised many times.Other than the problems listed, food tasted OK, but not worth the £40 paid.

Chicken burgers are really tasty. Not keen on having to go and order at the counter, but hey-ho, they give free monkey nuts to eat whilst waiting! Service very good.

Burgers very nice, service slow dirty tables and the toilets are disgusting the smell of urine was stinging my eyes, the floors sticky and dirty, GM get your act together and make sure you have someone servicing the toilets, totally unacceptable to allow toilets to be this dirty in a restaurant

Came here for dinner and the service was so slow even though we ordered using our phones. The burger I received was not the burger I had ordered either but I ate it anyway due to waiting so long for my food. The onion rings we had received were cold and we ordererd a dip which never arrived at the table so we just gave up and left. I wouldn't go back to this GBK.

Can’t fault the food but the staff needs supervision and training. Lots of staff, very disorganised and clumsy - we witnessed a milkshake being knocked down behind the counter and a plate of food ending up on the floor. Staff sitting at guest table by herself playing on her phone - we thought it was the end of her shift but she went back to serve tables. Not very professional!

We have been to GBK a number of times, and the food and service are always excellent. If you have any allergies they happily check your orders and the staff are always smiling!

We have used this restaurant when visiting Lakeside. The burgers are better than those nearby, but after witnessing a member of staff picking up cutlery from the table and putting it on a seat then back on the table (napkin added later) makes you wonder about hygiene in other areas. No check was made on whether it had been used. When I approached another member of staff and told them what I had seen he advised me that was how they had been trained and it was company policy. Don't think we'll be returning to this restaurant or others in this chain.

Never eaten here before and thought we would give it a try.My other half had the cheeseburger and I had the Burger that came with a Cajun sauce and it was lovely.Also we both had the chunky skin on fries and a side portion of onion rings.All very tasty and not greasy at all.

A thin hand made patty Burger cooked perfectly with a soft bun loads of toppings and thin chips and crispy onion rings along with a quality milkshake! It was ram packed and it was still only 20 mins the stafff were friendly and not harassing. I’d have to say 5 stars all around value for money 100% £20 for a burger ,chips,onion rings and a shake cmon let’s be real here GBK has defo upped its game in the last few years. Thumbs up from me

3 of us ate here early one Thursday evening, not very busy, seated at booth which needed a wipe down. Ordered buffalo burger, told by server could only have it well done even though I have eaten here before and had it medium, unfortunately that meant the burger was solid as a rock due to being so overcooked. That's the only gripe re the food. Everything else was really nice and tasty, we had skinny as well as chunky fries and they were good.Final gripe would be the price. 2 cheese & bacon burgers, fries and drinks plus 1 buffalo burger, fries and a drink came to just over £50.00!!

9 of us visited on Saturday before our screening at Vue and can hosnestly say we had a cracking meal! All burgers came out together and were pipping hot.... Timely sides and by far the best milkshakes we have had recently from anywhere! Will deffo come back, the satay Burger is a winner!

Went for lunch with the children, haven’t been for a while and probably won’t be going back for a while! Service is reasonable and the food is served quickly but had to send back a side because it was cold but was resolved quickly. For three burgers fries a couple of starters ( served in bowls?) and two milkshakes it was a bit expensive. Kids love the shakes and fries but the place seems a bit tired and very dark.

I visited with my Daughter and Granddaughter and enjoyed a great lunch. Our Burgers were excellent and Milkshakes just perfect. We will definitely visit again soon.

This was an early evening post cinema visit. We were seated very quickly and it was explained that we were to place our orders at the counter. I ordered an Arnie Sarnie Bundle and my daughter had a Classic Cheeseburger on which she had a choice of cheeses. The burgers were cooked to our personal preferences. Mine was medium rare and it was nice and pink inside. We both had soft drinks and I can recommend the Ginger and Lemongrass Fizz - very refreshing.The portion sizes are good and neither of us completely cleared the plate.It is not cheap for burger and fries but it is very good quality.

First and last time for this bad imitation of an American Diner. Great decor but go to a counter to order and pay, I don't think so, if we had known we would not have sat at a table. Ordered Burgers and a side of Onion rings. Two glasses of wine. Food ok and onion rings came and one was so chewy because they had used the outer skin of an onion that you normally throw away. Yuk.Very overpriced, very disappointing and a definite NO,NO.

Entered the restaurant and the floor was dirty. Went to the toilet and they were clean at least. We even had to ask to move tables as my partner had food on his seat.Went to order food. Asked if one of the milkshakes were vegan or could be made vegan to which one of the staff replied ‘I don’t know’ and didn’t offer any help in finding out for me. Although the food did come very quickly (10 mins) it was greasy. Too much for my liking.

Pretty poor really most of the staff ok the service was ok food was definitely not value for money soft drinks were not cold very expensive for what you get we ordered a blue cheese coleslaw not sure where that was or if we even got it all in all a pretty poor experience that charge top dollar for a burger I would have thought that it would be exceptionally good with a wow factor seeing as there is so much competition there. Sorry won’t be returning as there are much better restaurants nearby.

The food here is amazing, I especially love the beef burger, I think the food is a little overpriced for what you’re getting, however I will still happily pay for it.

Grandsons chose here ,I'm glad they did the burgers are understated they were excellent ,the staff are very helpful and friendly, nice place.

Stopped for dinner at The White Horse and ordered the Steak and Mushroom Pudding with sauté potatoes based on the bar lady’s recommendation. The very large home cooked portion was full of meat and served hot and tasty. Service was friendly and attentive.

Firstly the area of the restaurant we were first seated STANK of toilet cleaning chemical fake fragrance, it was unbearable and we requested to be moved.Our meal came, home slaw and the salad was limp not remotely fresh, we requested replacement was marginally better but still substandard, the avocado given to my kids was brown, liquified, completely oxidised, and tasted disgusting. The burger was medium on the inside but burnt on the outside. I reached out to them for some kind of compensation so that I might return after their issues were resolved as I've enjoyed meals here at least 15 times before, received a standard response touting their intended high standards, blah blah blah! Won't ever be going back!

Well this was our very first time to a GBK and to be honest It was just ok.We booked a table so walked straight in on the friday night. I didnt know there was no table service until we sat down which if I had known beforehand I wouldnt of bothered going in. This is the main reason I dont go to Nandos too. If im paying for a meal in a restaurant I want it at least served to me etc. We went up to order and had to stand in a que for 10 mins. When the food came it was ok and I did enjoy the burger I had but the price of the meal was just ridiculous (£60 for 3 burgers and drinks) for what we had paid and with there being no table service it just adds insult to injury. Well that was my first and last time to GBK.

Went there for lunch with family on a Saturday so it was quite busy. No table service so had to queue for quite some time to place our order. The burgers were good and substantial and you can specify how you want them cooked which was a plus.

Popped in for a burger. Floor was very dirty and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in ages. Pointed it out to the manager who said he would deal with it but he didn't. Then the manager fetched the wrong drinks. Food was ok but nothing special for the price. It has the ambience of a public toilet in my opinion and it's very noisy. The staff need further training.

Came here for dinner on Friday. Nice venue as nice outside bit we sat in to enjoy the last of the days sun.We all had the meal deal of burger, fries and a soft drink for £9.95 so good value. I went for the veggie burger, it was nice but slightly cremated. Nice skinny fries and the rhubarb and vanilla soft drink was delish (also get refills on this).The one negative I would say is lots of staff standing around waiting when the restaurant wasn't that busy and just one girl serving on the till taking orders. The rest of the staff standing around just seemed oblivious?? Didn't seem to make sense.

Lovely greeting, and very helpful member of staff. It was a little disappointing that we had to go to the bar to order a meal but I guess that's the type of restaurant it is!The meal however was fantastic. It was one of the best burgers I have ever had! All the food was delicious, delivered hot and looked amazing.The only constructive suggestion I would make is that it would've been helpful had they had are you range of deserts, rather than just ice cream.Definitely a fantastic place for a burger and would happily recommend it to anyone.

Esta fue la peor comida hamburguesa que he probado. Tuvimos que esperar casi 30 minutos para nuestra comida. La hamburguesa de hongos iba a venir con queso de cabra y un anillo de cebolla pero en vez de sólo tenía un champiñón con algunas ensaladas y vestidor. Tuve una hamburguesa de cordero, que era apenas reconocible como cordero. Este lugar podría haber sido un gran cambio Paso 5 - hace 6 años pero ahora es decepcionante.

El personal era amable y eficiente. Mi hamburguesa era muy agradable, sin duda la orden de tamaño raro para mantenerlo húmedo. Teníamos patatas fritas y aros de cebolla para compartir que fue más que suficiente. Las patatas no eran muy buenos y los aros de cebolla no estaban mal. Recibes lo que esperas, pero por el precio estaba bien.

If you love burgers, then here they are, in bags of style and full of substance.You gotta have them Medium Rare, that's a burger, they are the juiciest mouth watering pleasure known to Mankind LoL. Seriously fresh, and moist, not like the well done dry big burgers from a well known "Flame " fast food establishment which relies on its tomato's and mayo to give flavour. I was not brave enough this time for the Rare burger, but next time, its got to be tried. You will love this, fries, skinny fries, that's how they should be, crispy and salty and hot mmmmmmmmmm Habanero Jam, now that's an inexpensive extra waiting with your name on, not too spicy but MASSIVE on flavour.

They do "naked" burgers (without the bun) which for me is a plus but they are expensive! The burgers are well cooked and very tasty but, in my opinion, overpriced.

A lovely hot, fresh meal , here. Very flavoursome. Good selection, & good selection of drinks. Staff very pleasant, & was nice & clean here. Lovely 😁

nice looking place very clean we ordered our food with ease when it came out it looked really nice but our main meals was'nt very hot but the junior meal was very disappointed with the the skinny fries they were really skinny there was nothing to them we felt as if we were eating the ends of crisps they had no flavour as there was the lack of potato in the middle the burger on the whole was okay lacked seasoning on the meat even though it had a few extras added on the whole a little on the pricey side for what we had

La camarera era muy grosero con nuestro grupo y nos fuimos a otro lugar casi a la izquierda y donde por pero acabamos quedándonos. La comida era buena, yo diría que bueno, pero nada especial. Patatas fritas papas fritas de delgado son básicamente patatas fritas y estamos calientes. Hamburguesa era buena pero un poco seco. El personal parecía estar colgando alrededor y charlando. El lugar estaba limpio, pero no realmente decir que el ambiente. No me alojaría aquí de nuevo.

Esta es siempre nuestra primera opción ya que no he tenido una mala comida! ! Marido había cordero, que disfrutó y yo fuimos para carne de pollo en lugar de mi habitual y estuvo muy bien, nos encanta el batidos que son enormes, especialmente salados y caramelo de panal.

Buena selección de hamburguesas. Fuimos para la opción poderoso y desnudo así que no pelea, pero col y ensalada. Batatas fritas y aros de cebolla. Buena comida y abundante. Las recargables de fresa y bebidas elderflower son preciosas. El personal es amable y servicial. So my disappointment started with having to go to the counter to order our food, which I'm fine with if I'm in my local cafe but not a wanna be trendy restaurant.Then I'm served skinny fries, which normally is my fry of choice, they should really rename them matchstick fries, if you don't eat them within 3 minutes they'll be stone cold and then there's the little message on the receipt 'service not included' you're too right it ain't, I'm surprised you didn't ask me to pop out the back and cook the burgers myself.
